Valentines Day.. It isn't

Saturday was a good day indeed. Somehow I ended up skipping the Laibach show. I couldn't get a hold of Greg and the person I wanted to take in his place has gotten horribly ill.

Erin got in town rally late so sushi was not going to be a reality. I had arranged for her and Marcos to see the Pixies 8 months ago and last night they went VIP ands all. We went to Ranalli's to wait on her and I had a huge buffalo chicken sandwich.Had a pickle as a garnish and thought of someone who would love to have one with me. I freaking love pickles and it's weird knowing someone else with the same affliction. I'm so bad sometimes I go to Potbelly's only to buy the big sliced pickle. (Anyway, I assume you're reading this so Hello! Scmile!) We sat at the bar and saw some old friends Ruth and Tom and the gang and my attention was drawn to a particularly animated and petite but overall a real beauty of a woman. She had a little punk/hipster thing going on. She'd make the perfect ViXXXen. So I waited till she returned from the restroom, and I asked her how old she was. She said 22, I swear she looked every bit of 16, which is the Gauge shtick. So I introduced myself and gave her a card, asked her to look over the site and if she was interested to call me and we'd set up a shoot. Not sure what her impression of the site is but if I don't hear from her I assume it's not her thing.

Despite the end result, Tom was pretty impressed with my approach. I invited the old guy to my little party next weekend at Transit. Looks like I'm having about 15 guests to the VIP.

Marcos left for the show after Erin arrived and I sat a few with Tom and came home. I talked to my friend Kevin in Texas and got some pretty amusing email messages in German from someone whose intellect challenges my own. As does her uncanny ability to recite movie lines. Ever see that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry met Janeane Garafolo, that's exactly how weird this is. Fucking Bizzaro world. When Marcos returned we returned to Ranalli's and the joint was jumping. Jerry Ranalli came over and told me how much he appreciated the business I bring into the restaurant and I thanked him for the staff always being so great to us. We admired the every growing Zander branch of the beer mafia and I pointed out a really cutie of a new addition. And we laughed about the members who have been whacked. I met a few more ladies and it seemed that I was known to them which was sort of surprising. But I guess it's like the line Ron cracked in the same establishment just week weeks before, "You're more famous than everybody."

It seems they are giving me a birthday party at Ranalli's next month, so if any of you would like to be put on the list please send me an email. It's 4 hours for $25 per person, all you can eat and all you can drink. Even Michael Illinsky the photographer from Cincinnati is entertaining the idea of joining us for it. And I got an email from Jesse and she said her birthday was also the 12th. And freaking Jared of Chemlab wrote and his is the 11th. How freaking weird? This is my big one, and everyone is asking me what I want for my birthday. I'm not good at that, though I wouldn't mind the complete Beavis and Butthead or Pee Wee's Playhouse on DVD. But what I really would like other than spending it with all of my great friends is a round trip plane ticket from WV to Chicago. If it were up to me it'd be one way. But you can't always get what you want. Story of my goofy life. If anyone with magic powers can help me, how about a time machine. Anyone????

My annual Alc O Holiday bash is Sunday 12/12 at the Dark Room 2210 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL http://www.darkroombar.com/ this is a very swanky bar. I love Rich will be debuting songs from their new album Year Of The Rich www.iloverich.net I will be DJing the event for the first time in 11 years and if all goes well I will have the Frank Sinatra Tribute band Tony Ocean and The Expensive Winos www.tonyocean-sleepwarm.com performing. Ironically the 12th is both my and Frank Sinatra's birthday.

Darkroom began in 2001 with the idea that there is more to a bar than drinks. Combining two of the owners passions, photography and mixology darkroom keeps focus on maintaining a unique environment to showcase local photographers. The space is designed around the bar which also functions as a photographers lightbox keeping true to the nature of the concept. Photo exhibits are centered on one artist allowing for a true gallery experience in the confines of a superb lounge atmosphere.

Alc O Holiday is a 21 and over event

The next big one will be the 10 year anniversary MK Super Show at Durty Nellies. Right after Valentines Day.

Tomorrow I'm sitting in on a Suicide Girl photo shoot to make sure the subject is comforable with the photgrapher. We'll see how that goes. Tune in Tuesday for the scoop.
