Tonight is the Motley Crue show. I'm taking Bob because jSIN is unable to make it for 2 reasons. #1 There is a 2 minute trailer for the new Star Wars movie during his favorite show the OC and #2 his phone bill was too high from talking to Finger Cuffs, thus he can't afford transportation from the corn state.
And there's a whole fucked up story regarding events leading up to this Motley Crue show but I cannot divulge them till after the show, at which time I'll be more than happy to spill.
So it is tonight that I'm going to see Motley for the second time in my career. The first time was when John Corabi was the singer and Type O Negative opened. This was the first time I'd met the band. Type O that is. I lasted about 4 songs into the set and then Mike and I went to the parking lot and met some girls. However, I have run into Vince several times in Las Vegas, and last Jan when he receited his marriage vows for a 3rd time.
So I have to wonder and at least hope this show is all that I hear it is. At the very least, I get to go to Culvers afterwards where BH is buying me my very first Butter Burger in exchange for me working tirelessly to get us tickets which I was promised last Fall. Again, more on that tomorrow. At least Bob and I are capable of making a good time out of anything and this looks to be one of them.
I just want to see his face when the reunited Rainbow take the stage later this year.
One thing I know I'm going to witness are the fans of MC, which leaves a lot to be desired. Arena rock shows bring out a particular breed, and are almost in-bred. They come across the state lines from Indiana, the trailer parks and backwash of the rural Midwest with bad tattoos, hair, and faded denim. There's plenty of pleather and leather on people who have no purpose at all sporting it, and I'm sure lots of sunglasses will be mounted on the foreheads and tops of heads of the elite, ultra cool breeders. Over priced t-shirts and beer will be scooped up by the true believers and loyal fans of the Crue who would sooner scoff at you for your prefrence of Nine Inch Nails or Type O than admit they've ever listened to their music. They are simply "fags" to them, and so are we for liking them.
And you can bet they hate KISS as much as band does, because to them, no matter what, Motley was the first to don make up, costumes and do the big production. Hey, didn't the "then" reunited KISS have a circus themed tour back in 99? Nah, must have been a dream. And didn't KISS sell out 2 and 3 nights in a row at the very same venue, and have such grand demand that they returned on the second leg of 2 consecutive tours? Nah, and why would I know, I'm only a journalist of sorts.
For the Crue who have not had a hit in the last 2 decades are back, and back together, again. And so are the fans who haven't seen each other since the last bathtub crank cook off, or at least the last time the Motley's came through here, with or with out Tommy or Vince. And you can bet that BH and I will be there to take inventory, and report it back to you, all of you, not in this "blog" but on the front page of this very site. And BIG DAN will be on hand tonight to take pictures. Let us only hope the boys in the band can refrain from onstage racial slurs this time. There's a time and place for such vulgarities and onstage in front of thousands of people is not.
Shout at The Devil!
Now I just want to say to those of you who have and are experiencing any difficulties on this site and maybe happen to skip the news which I work so diligently on every day to put up on here for the thousand and thousands of people who return every day. We moved servers, and there are as expected a few glitches here and there. Afra did a smoking job of moving us to their server and any issue that insure are typical but still, based on past experience, further between than in the past. I was having email problems the last few weeks and not getting email from some people. That was because the other sever was so congested. But we're back and I have some BIG surprises for all of you in the upcoming weeks. Thanks AZ
