Saturday night was upon us and we all convened outside the Congress Theatre for the Doors (D21C), which would be the third time I’ve seen the band with the only person worthy of filing the late Jim Morrison’s boots. The Cult’s Ian Astbury.
The lethal combo factor being that it was Kelly and I, Grego, Marc Osorno and Sherrie and Brian. LETHAL! TOXIC! HAZRADOUS! Trouble or at least in our case fun comes in 3’s
The show was perfect and we somehow managed to squeeze into the roped off section which were where the $300 seats were. This was the best this line up ever sounded.
After the magic and a spiritual performance we all went to Street Side, had another round at Dorothy’s and under protest by your writer, Estelle’s. Enough was enough but when Kelly and Sherrie are concerned overkill is the method to their madness. And will not take no or I don’ want to go as an option. Basically not only had I had enough and wanted to top but also it would be a waste of money. One, which ended in a cab ride home. At a very late or early hour depending on which lock you work around.
I’ve been getting up for work at 530 AM and am exhausted by nightfall. At 40 it just keeps harder to keep up. But to quote Don Johnson’s character in “Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man”, ‘The older the bull, the stiffer the horn.' I guess that’s why I can keep up with the energy of a 25 year old lush I call my favorite girl of all time, Kelly.
Now in all it wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t for the fact that while we were shopping Friday evening after work, but Sherrie had interrupted my most domestic activity in recent memory and insisted we meet her and Brian for drinks. At first I was shitty. No way. I’m fucking tired. But like I said no is no option where half of the toxic twins are concerned. So I decided to negotiate and we met them and four or five other couples at Holiday Club where my favorite DJ Dave Roberts was spinning and does the best set every Friday night. The gang was all actors from Second City and we ended up, as I suspected being there till last call. I wanted only an hour but the music was too good and the crowd was a lot of fun.
So this was all on the heels of my brother securing his plane ticket and tickets for DEVO. So we got ours and I’m very excited about seeing one of my favorite bands with my lil bro.
On Thursday after work Kelly and I went over to Logan Square to see Joel and to eat at Luna Mexicana. Well if you’re like me and have hyped up the quality of the food and service of a place only to find out that after a year it has drastically gone downhill you will be greatly disappointed. I was greatly disappointed. I’ve bragged abut this place for months to Kelly especially their cerviche’. Well they fucked up everything from the order right down to not understand what we wanted to order in the first place. So I wasted more money. Which pisses me off more than anything.
But I shouldn’t complain. Everything else is pretty nice. I eat lunch with Kelly everyday downtown and I really like where I’m working.
This Friday we take ½ a day and go out on Lake Michigan on a charted yacht to watch the air and water show. I have the suspicion it’s going to be a hoot and I’ll get to know more about my co-workers than I would otherwise. They already know more about me than I had hoped. Thanks MK!
