I could not wait to get off work yesterday as when I got home I changed back into AZ and went with Bryan (the friend formerly known as Moe) and we went to Lincolnshire to see the uncut 1 night only screening of George Romero's LAND OF THE DEAD. This is out on DVD today and I give it my highest recommendation. The gore and shock in this flick in unbeatable. Nobody does it like Romero. I'm still getting the DVD but if I hadn't seen this on teh big screen I doubt I could have ever forgiven myself.
The history of me and the "Dead" series goes back decades. From the night I stayed up late at my grandparents to watch the original NOTLD, through seeing Dawn in Dallas Texas in 1983 on my first date with a lady there and in 86 saw Day of The Dead while I had strept throat and a temp that exceeded 100 degrees in teh cold snowy Ohio Valley winter. And in 93 I attended the 25th anniversary of NOTLD at the Mall where Dawn was shot in the 80's.
On another note, Batman Begins hit DVD today. Another great film from this year.
The weekend was fun. Creepy aka Jeff Brown came to Chicago and we went to teh Twisted Spoke, met Gade and all went to Ranalli's before heading over to Rusty' Nail's extravaganza at the Music Box Theatre. The Music Box Massacre was his 24 hour horror film fest and it was like a reunion of film freaks. Rusty certainly has his finger on teh pulse of all things edgy. So glad we have him here in Chicago.
Well I'm off to work. The month will wrap up with my trip to Arizona this weekend, the Pimps and Ho's Ball bathing in a bevy of famous porn stars and MY RUIN playing in West Dundee.
Oh, and my friend Carly will be in town promoting her first book Naked Ambition, which is an expose of women's impact on pornography and how they've got a handle on it. I'm almost done reading it now. I read it on my commute to work and you should see the faces of the people on a crowded rush hour train trying not to read the title of this writ. It's a great book by the way. See you in 2 weeks Carly!
