Terri Schiavo

I've been holding back on sharing my thoughts about this till this poor woman and her husband were at peace. Making such a decision is not an easy one. I was faced with it last autumn with my mother and just over a year ago my friend Paul had to face the possibility of the same with his wife who he lost in 2004. It is not easy watching a love one suffer and drift away. If you believe in a god, than the fate belongs in your gods hands. For me and people who believe they way I do it is the next of kin. It is certainly not the government or a bunch of people with nothing to do but protest. And have you ever noticed that the people who have made a "habit" or "career" of protesting have nothing else to do with their time? And pro-lifers who believe so whole heartedly in the fight for life have no problem with bombing clinics and killing doctors. Even their hypochristian bible contradicts itself with "eye for an eye" and the "turn the other cheek". I' happy for Michael ands Terri Schiavo, but I'm sure his battle is far from over. I would not be surprised if some crazed Christian doesn't kill him. And as far as our government, I find it an atrocity that the Brothers Bush would even get involved, without considering the wishes of her husband whose lawful right it was to end his wife's vegetated state.

As I said, it's even closer to home when actually faced with the decision so I feel I have a right to voice my opinion on the matter.

South Park creators proved again with last nights episode how timely they can be at addressing such a media over blown story in a timely matter. I'm sincerely impressed.

However, the media seems to be getting it's jollies by oversaturating us with the story in their typical fashion.

As for Paul, he's off to Hollywood. We spent 2 days loading his U Haul and getting him ready. It was hard saying goodbye to a guy who has proven himself to be one of my most decent and considerate friends. For some reason the guy was always there for me over the humps I've gone up and down the past few years. And even in his own dilemma he found a few minutes to lend a helping hand to a brother in need. I know he'll be doing big things and all of us here are anxiously awaiting the day when we can say, "I know that guy!". Or as Spicoli says, "I know that dude!".

Good luck man. But I know you don't really need it.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Gentleman's Suite

JW Blue.jpg

Last night Afra and I met up again at The Hard Rock Hotel downtown for the annual Johnnie Walker Blue Label Gentleman's Suite. This was the same annual event he and I met in person at a year ago and at the same place.

When I got the invite which read:

"You and a friend are invited to attend the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Gentleman's Suite - a rare evening of pampering and privilege. This exclusive gentleman's evening is designed to luxuriously relax and pamper you." I knew he would have to be the one to join me. I have to admit it was a hell of a way to kick off a friendship. I had talked with him for a little over a year before he moved here because he also worked with MINISTRY.

Mike J and mo were to meet us again but by the time they both showed up which was a half hour after I had told them to arrive to insure that they got in, the line was cut. It was ridiculously long when we had arrived. and after they were dismissed we were slowly led into the registration area and after signing in were taken into reception area where the event kicked off with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

We were told we would be in group 9 and it looked as though we had about an hour wait. So we had a few laughs at the expense of the Grateful Dead and some Geeks and were led into a little room where we were given massages and shoeshines. After a little of that relaxation we were taken upstairs to the David Bowie suite and sipped the Johnnie Walker Blue label which sells for $200 per bottle retail or $50 per glass at clubs. It was a nice time so then we jumped into a cab and went to Ranallis on the way home. Afra is a good time and it was great getting to share a night like that with a friend as cool as he is.

Today the server was down for awhile and it was good because I was able to not focus on getting updates in order and instead help Paul load his moving van for his relocation to Hollyweird. And it's nice that my long string of events has come to and end. I'm beat.

In a few months I'll be invited to another Johnnie Walker Journey Of taste and I'm looking forward to the event with slight anticipation.

Too Blue.

Day After Easter

The weekend was great! Friday night was Paul's Farewell and off to LA party and we were geared up for a pretty good time. Jeff Brown aka Creepy drove up from Indy for the weekend. Jeff in case you know was the original assistant editor of MK ULTRA from the mid 90's and he also created the very popular comic strip Demon Dancer. We went to Dappers had some coffee and arrived at Exit where a lot of the gang had already gathered. Once the upstairs opened we went into the back and orded our drinks from Carolyn and the laughs began. It almost looked liek a MWGH reunion being that the 4 of the embers of one era were all together. And it was the first time I'd seen Jason's wife Juanita in several years. All in all it was a kick ass all around good time.

Somehow wee made it till last call and Jeff and I were off in search of some place to eat. It wasn't as easy as it should have been. About 15 minorities working at White Castle couldn't manage to take our order and at the Golden Nugget the waitress was asleep at the table. We tried the Lincoln Head which was closed and finally got a rectum busting burrito at 5AM

Saturday Creepy recreated the old MK 1995 version of a crucified Easter Bunny. Kevin finished the cover for my first DVD release and before we knew evening was setting in on us so Jeff and I went over to Christina's where I learned he has an amazing singing talent. He displayed the art of Karaoke well. Better than the waitress and anyone else for that matter. Weird how you know someone for 12-13 years and never knew he sang.

And Sunday we dropped in on Shena and chilled out for the day before Jeff took off for the state line around 4 or 5 AM. I had a very difficult time sleeping.

Funny yesterday being Easter we managed to seriously offend some people on myspace with the Easter image. Why anyone uptight would even add themselves as a friend of mine on myspace if they have no sense of humor.

I'm tired and physically exhausted and I still have an event to attend with Afra, Moe and Mike J tonight at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Grrrr.

Weathering Chicago Elements

rain storm.jpg

The I LOVE RICH show Wednesday was a blast and thanks to all who attended. Most of the night we hung out backstage/downstairs. I did not have 1 drink. Paul delievered to them their virgin video so look for it soon. Check www.iloverich.net for the next show.

As I sit here nearly the end of March and the 5th day of spring, eating asparagus for breakfast, I wonder, "Why does the winter stay around so long in Chicago?"

The people I work with in LA tell me it's in the 80's there. Paul is moving there in less than a week leaving this 34 degree wet and snowy weather for the land of earthquakes, fires, mudslides and floods. So yes, I guess it could be worse.

Yet it never fails, year after year when May comes around and the April showers have already begun to bring it's soggy annual downpour into June. I dream of two things, riding my bike and that I want to go camping dammit!

Yet I could be in the predicament that I was in a year ago. Trying to hold together a relationship that was already doomed and would eventually dump more havoc and instability on my life than any calendar year of my existance. Sure, facing the facts and recognizing the signs sure would have prepared me for the awful truth and impending shitstorm. But at the same time, some of us, never learn. Well I think I did this time. I think I did for once. And perhaps that is the biggest reason I am so leery of allowing myself to enter any other kind of intimate and trusting relationship.

Yet in retrospect 2004 as poor as it was for me personally when it came to relationships was also a triumphant year in terms of advances in business relationships.

And that was indeed a silent storm of it's own.

I made a friend in filmmaker Rusty Nails which lead me to Romero, and Lloyd Kaufman on a much more intimate level than a fan or member of the press. And from there I played around at the Movieside festival, the Tromathon, and later that year at the Flashback Weekend with the Dawn of the Dead reunion and getting back together with Bryan and the Chicago Underground Film Festival, which led to a rather interesting and trying evening with anti-hero Jim Van Bebber.

In the fall the MK team (myself, jSIN and Karlton) swept through Glamour Con where many more contacts were established as we had the thumbs up of one Michael Illynski aka Steve Svetty, Staci Burke, Taylor Wane and many others, sans Shannon Tweed.

And even though I had to deal with the passing of my birth mother which slowed down my attempt to move away from the conditions which I had been inhabiting through the summer months, I managed to get 2 of my friends bands signed to international record deals, did more than a lot involving favorite band/friends Ministry including a mega successful record release party, 3 concerts an after show birthday party for Al, and getting Rick Neilson of Cheap Trick onstage with them in Milwaukee. All while living in squalor to the amusement of a few and the disgust of many. Not to mention the embarassment of myself.

I also saw and reunited with Skinny Puppy 3 times last year. 3 Ministry and 3 Skinny Puppy shows in 1 year is quite an enhancement in enjoyment, when dealing with personal wounds and woes.

Gauge swept into town right after my mother passed and it helped to cheer me up. She stayed for a week we had loads of fun with her, and when Seymore Butts came to town and included me in the filming of their hit Showtime reality show (FAMILY BUSINESS) I had the honor of introducing Gauge and Adam Glasser. This also established a relationship with what PLAYBOY Magazine has called Chicago's coolest club, Transit.

And then there was turning 40. I do not wish to relive that weekend again ever. Because it took a toll on my health, but I saw who my friends were, and who they really are and that meant a lot to me for a guy who feels as though he's wasted the last 20 years of his life on people and personalizes he'd rather forget and learn to regret. My birthday party(s)in 2004 have never been matched for me ever and I really appreciate anyone involved. And it all led up to the best New Years Eve of my life.

So, in retrospect the storm of 2004 was a violent and unforgiving one but one I am happy to have lived through. Even though it had it's up and downs it certainly beats another existence which is far less, mentally stimulating. I rejuvenated a few old friendships and dissected and displaced many more. And if anything I know who I can trust and who I will never trust as I go into my next 40! And I'll spend that repairing the first 40. And I don't mean 40 oz.

And when all is said and done, and as the dusk settles, one crystal clear fact shall remain. If I had remained in that ill-fated relationship I could not have possibly experienced what laid beyond that rainy and cold, and doomed Spring of 2004. Something that far eclipsed the drama we in the know refer to as Zuzu Petals. In retrospect the Zuzu thing was a walk in the park compared to mental destruction I enountered with in the past year.

Here's to 2005! When the weather settles we're going to have a helluva BBQ! with a few good friends helped me get to this point. And the rest of you, that cannot appreciate the smiles we managed to achieve should just give up and quit trying to rain your shitstorm on a parade of people who only want to be happy in their world. It's getting pathetic. Get over it. In many ways you already won anyway.

And this weather as it hovers over me much like the black cloud that does same shall not hinder he 1st coming of Fetus Boy aka Creepy aka Jeff Brown of 2005.

Stay awake. Stay alive!.

Head-over 2

The movie is done and edited and the box art for the DVD will be done later this week.I'm looking forward to sharing it with anyone interested. Not everyone shares my sense of humor and or sense for eroticism. I should have some for sale early next month. I'm not at liberty to discuss anything else till later but I will say it's a bit of a parody and the title contains a certain 4 letter explicative.

I am almost done setting up the big weekend with the Metro stars. In June we're having Kelly Erikson, Ron Jeremy and the Kerkoves (Skeeter and Bridget) in for a weekend. We'll be setting up radio interviews dinner, and a club hitting spree un head of since, well, when the Seymore Butts people were in town. Should be a rocking good time.

And speaking of rocking good times, Greg and I precisely had that Monday at the Motorhead concert at the House Of Blues. And we were both feeling it's effects yesterday. I do have to give a big thanks to everyone at NEO who really capped it off right, though I was regretting it more than appreciating it yesterday. You can see photographic evidence at www.metalmondays.com Dann and teh gang really went the extra mile for the band and fans.

Tonight the busy week continues with the I LOVE RICH Cd release party at Double Door. The album is now on sale worldwide and I'm not just saying this, but it is the best rocking record I've heard in over a year. The title, Year Of The Rich.

I'm waiting on photos to arrive today from Saturday night and if all goes well should have them scanned later today.

Head

Motorhead that is. I think I've seen them more in the last 7 years than any other band including Type O, Ministry and Thrill Kill Kult. And Saturday night I saw them again and will see them again tomorrow. These legends sell out HOB 2 nights every time they come into town. And being they are in Milwaukee tonight it may as well be like playing Chicago.

My body felt like I was at a Motorhead show as well. Drunkover and deaf.

Kevin came over in the afternoon and we went over the concept for the box art for my first direct to DVD directorial debut. Details coming very soon kiddies. At 6 we took the train to The House of Blues restaurant where we got a table and Bob was late so we had a couple beers and some a veggie quesadilla. When BH got there he was amped and ready to roll. I gave to him his ticket and photo pass and we were off to the Foundation Room where the fun was really getting ready to begin.

We were upstairs for a little while and then I met Kris from BRAND NEW SIN through my buddy Shaun Glass the guitar hotshot from SOiL. Sue and Rodney showed up and the photoplay began. We hit it off with the band and they were really glad to meet me because I was taking part in their party tonight at NEO. The bad part was that we got in there about 7 and Motorhead wasn't set to go on till 11 so that meant a long time in the Foundation Room and lots of BS all around, and I don't mean Bullshit just bullshitting. We got an opera box and had a good view of the show. The box was just the four of us, Bob, Rodney, Sue and I. And after a killer and loud set by the trio that ended with "Bomber" it was back to the Foundation Room where the party really kicked into gear.

Look for photos in the next 24 hours that will eventually be added to the photo galleries.

I ended up at Exit for some reason and made it home alive again.

Tonight is another show and aftershow at NEO. It's going to be a long night and a very busy and long week. I'm looking forward to Jeff Brown coming up for the weekend. We have lotsa catching up to do. Trying to fit 7 years into 48 hours at a time isn't very easy.

April is going to be insane as we are shooting another Subsonic video doing a release party at NEO with support of 94.7 The Zone and a big contest. All this and new episodes of South Park. Sweeeet.

Working For The Weekend

Was up late working on a new film project with some people that is going direct to DVD. It's not Goth Girls Gone Wild but better. Look for an announcement toward the end of the month. It's been late nights and some days but well worth it. Some of the most exciting work I've ever done.

Speaking of film work, Paul Baio who did the Subsonic "Dream American" video just finished the new I LOVE RICH video for "Lets Get It On Tonight". It's fucking awesome, and truly reflects the spirit of the band. I've said for many years I LOVE RICH are my favorite Chicago area band, and have been for going on 8 years. We will debut the bands video at their record release party next Wednesday at Double Door. Look for the owner of the bands record label to make an appearance. Anand Bhatt former porn star and regular AVN Magazine contributor is also involved in my film project. Should be no surprise when its released next month.

Motorhead comes to town tomorrow. It'll be fu to see Lemmy again after the fiasco with Talia Juliet in Las Vegas. It's looking to be a really good weekend.

We're All Clones - All Are One And One Are All

TRANSIT SHIRTS.jpg
The Studs of Transit

Have you ever seen anything so ridiculous in your fucking life? Okay, I love the people who run Transit, and they really have it going on there. And I like that they show their appreciation to me and my crew whenever we come down to their establishment. But 90% of the clientele that they cater to are cookie cutter clones with absolutely no identity of their own whatsoever I do not understand why anyone would want to go somewhere dressed exactly like everyone else. I don't get it. I'm sure for them it's "safe" not to stray from the pack, but goddammit, how does anyone separate the people who come into the places like this.

TRANSIT BARKEEP.jpg

Talk about seperate: The VIP rooms bartender

Transit isn't alone, as a matter of fact they are better at bringing in a diverse crowd as opposed, lets say, the Billy Deck affiliated clubs.

These people are never going to hear, hey nice outfit. And shamefully neither will a lot of the girls. The fairer sex are as guilty as the men are at this fashion faux-pa. Quick call Joan and Melissa Rivers and lets get them a VIP section and cameras to film the factory line as it's unveiled.

This is the fashion people. This is what the mainstream wear when they go out on a Saturday night as they embark on their drunken mating rituals. As Adam Ant so wisely quipped back in the glorious heyday of fashion we so lovingly refer to as the 80's. "We don't follow fashion, that'd be a joke. You know we gotta set them.So everyone will take note.

If I'm considered out of place I'd rather be just that than the status quo.

I think Afra and Paul know what I'm talking about that's for damn sure.

And guys (you in the photos and everyone like you) take a walk down to Boys Town and check out what is the hot trend as far as what the proud gay men of Chicago are wearing. You'll feel just like you're looking in a mirror.

Now what leather pants am I going to wear this weekend?

St. Patricks Curse

Okay so in order to please Afra above all I will catch you up to date on Saturday.

TRANS GROPE.jpg

Saturday night we attended the St Patrick's Day Party at Transit. It was Paul, Afra and myself. and the place was going to be pretty packed so we got there at 930 and were escorted in by Bob and Aaron took us to the back VIP room which filled up rather quickly. Afra really enjoyed taking in all of the eye candy as it was his virgin voyage to Transit and we had fun laughing at all the guys who wore white striped button down shirts untucked. I was told this style is very popular in the gay community so these guys obviously aspire to that fashion sense even though they obviously fancied themselves heterosexual. Afra commented that they looked as if they were fresh off a factory line, which indeed was the illusion. God for fucking bid any of them would go against the grain.

TRANS AFRA.jpg

TRANS POUR.jpg
AZ and Mary Carey look-a-like

Early into the night a reserved section next to us became occupied. It was a group from Milwaukee which was a guy named Jason who was celebrating his bachelor party with 4 blondes and a brunette. We had fun joking around with the group taking pictures and drinking champagne. We had a good time laughing it up at the expense of certain people (the cookie cutter crews) and the free drinks began to take hold of us all pretty fast. After awhile Afra spilt and Paul and I hung around a bit longer but it was draining. And it had a draining effect on Paul as I saw when he woke up the next afternoon with a splitting headache.

TRANS KISS.jpg

TRANS CHAMPAGN.jpg

Tuesday night was yet another St Patrick's Day party, this time at Ranalli's. After a long day of sitting over 6 hours in an Emergency waiting room, I was due for a stress reliever. I took Angie in who was having some serious chest pains. After several tests, scans and an X-Ray she had a diagnosis. Paul and I met Greg at 9:30 at the bar and we hung out till 11 and Greg in his ultimate wisdom thought we should head out to Heavenly Whores, I mean Heavenly Bodies. Well I should just state that we did not have as great of a time as we did the last time out there.

Motorhead hits Chicago this weekend. Time will tell how it goes.

UPDATES COMING

Okay, I got held up today. I got a call from a friend who needed to go to the hospital, I suggested an Emergency Room due to her condition. It's a good thing too because there were X rays and tests involved and after over 6 hours a diagnosis. Friends come first. I'll have the updates up later. As for Saturday night at Transit, here's a photo to tease you.

Motley Dues

CRUE FAN2.bmp

I should have damn well known that it was everything I expected. Everything, and it didn't begin or end with the show.

Thursday March 10, 2005 I arrived at Rosemont at 5 on the dot. BH was waiting for me in his Caddy, and it was a cold one, but that didn't stop the crowd of Crue fans who turned out in large numbers to catch the band that just can't let go of 1989. As for that neither do the fans, and it's a sad lot indeed.

Please don't get me wrong. I had a blast in the 80's. It was a fun time, but the calling of industrial music spawn from some of my old favorites Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and DEVO would be tainted darkly with the Wax Trax movement which would end up dictating my career in this industry for the better part of the 90's. The fashion was fun, the music was great and the girls were the best. But that was 2 decades ago and we're halfway through the third since then and it's been awhile since Motley Crue were kings of the road the airwaves, the charts and MTV.
Don't tell that to the 18,500 plus Crueheads who braved the elements in their finest concert attire this cold, dark and wet March night in a Chicago subburb.

photos by Dan Locke for MK

The fun started innocently enough at a little pub called The Beacon Tavern, where the 24 oz. beer were a mere $3. This place was obviously a favorite after work stop for the locals because there were a lot of blue collar boys sharing beer and boasting loudly. They weren't the type who take kindly to a guy with shoulder length jet black hair with clothes to match and a Static X "Keep Disco Evil" Tour jacket. And from the number of women in the joint 2 staff and a couple of middle aged ladies with an obvious lack of post 80's fashion, one could easily imagine nightly fights spilling into the parking lot and nightly visits from Rosemont's Boys in Blue, who were now on guard for the concert attendees.

CRUE2.jpg

We departed the pub becasue Bob was in a hurry and we got to the box office a lot earlier than needed. It was only $15 dollars to park a car at the venue.THAT IS ROBBERY. But that was the least of the forthcoming issues close at hand. For a writer who does most of his/my work at the venues of the inner city and no connection at Clear Channel anymore. (I miss Kate Darling dearly) the people working behind the glass could give a damn who I was, what I was doing, and how long I'd have to wait to get in. And that's how it goes at these area/stadium shows. The guest list is always at the will call only minutes before the show begins. Throw in the fact that a lot of the security are off duty place officers and there is no chance, and I stress NO CHANCE IN HELL you are going to get the attention of the tour manager who is the go-to person in case there is an issue with the list such as not being, or being "told" you are not on it. Which was the first part of my dilemma, the guy at the window kept telling me I wasn't on the list, but after awhile I persisted and he happened to find me, right where I said I'd be listed. My 1 ticket. Far from what I was promised by the fine folks who work for the Crue. We'll get to that in a bit, because I'm not close to done.

Dan Locke arrived and he had in writing that he was to pick up his photo pass and had a ticket which we were giving to Bob. Well in Motleys fashion, the ticket would not materialize. Luckily I knew a girl who is a ticket broker and BH paid her $30 for a $50 seat and if there was a service charge it would have been a $60 seat. So on one hand it was a bargain, on the other, I do not agree with paying anything toward the Crue, especially now more than ever when I was willing to give the power that be the benefit of the doubt. I should never ever give anything the benefit of the doubt because I get stung every cotton picking time.

Dan wasn't doing any better either. All of the other photographers that I was aware of had their credentials, Dan did not. Maybe they have something against blacks? No, not the Crue! Or maybe it's MK, which would be more likely. But Dan not being as in your face as I am, could have easily been as victim of the overlooking that the brains who work for the venue typically do and they simply did not look or care to look in the correct places. So he managed to find someone he knew and got in on his word that he'd shoot and leave after 3 songs. And he gets his $15 returned from parking as well.

CRUE.jpg

To fully appreciate my dismay for the situation to which you are reading, I do need to rewind some and lay down some of the events that lead up to my current feelings toward Motley Crue and the people who surround that organization.

Last September, a person who represented the Crue asked me to place a teaser banner on MK that would link to the then upcoming reunion tour and Best of CD. They wanted this for free, and would compensate us by allowing us giveaways, some swag and of course tickets to the shows. So I figured why not? Just because they aren't in my top 10 as far as favorite bands, a lot of the people who read MK and visit the site daily , do. And that is my job, to provide service to you, my readers. Then after the tour in announced and tickets go on sale, I am contacted by management who want me to host a giveaway and or relapse party which we organized at NEO with ad possibility on 94.7 The Zone and in weekly papers, internet etc. I had a few phone meetings with the people behind the music and it was a go, and we were confirmed. But lo and behold, less than one week prior to the event which we were geared up to throw at NEO they pulled the plug. So, we're fucked again. And to top it all off there was nothing at all provided in the way of any type of giveaway, but they on the other hand, got a free banner and lots of press, and I lean lots of press on the band. GOOD PRESS and that's something that Motley and MK will NEVER have in common again. EVER!

CRUETOMMY.jpg

And then it came time to request tickets. Tickets I was assured would not be a problem based on the events leading up to where we are at this point in the story. Basically they did not confirm my request which was cut down to one ticket till the day before the show, For fucks sake, like I'm putting my life on hold for Motley Crue! But, I had an ace in the hole, and Bob would be covered because Dan was offering me his extra ticket. The ticket which he had in writing printed up from the email, the ticket that wasn't there when he went to collect. Basically if BH didn't want to go I would have not even gone myself because I knew what was inside those big doors and behind the wall of security. Not only the band. But the fans.

No sooner were we in the door we were at the end of one of the many long lines for beer that was only $7.25 per cup. $7.25 for a lukewarm can of suds. That's a fucking 12-pack of the same beer they were pouring. And the fans had already had plenty. Most of their indulgence were most likely induced in their cars en route to the big show. And from the glazed and hazed appearance in the vacant stares in their eyes, there was also a good bit of marijuana intake involved as well. They strutted their stuff as they paraded around the hallways of the arena. High fives were in the air, the men had already joined in with their typical preshow opening act of their own by screaming out MOTLEY FUCKING CRUE MOTHERFUCKERS! And the scratchy whiskey and cigarette hoarse vocals so common among the types of women who fit into this demographic was abundant as well. Their children, all 5 or 6 of them were at home with their respective fathers, or some babysitter who was sneaking her boyfriend in that night. One guy proudly walked his 8 year old son around sporting matching Crue shirts, I told Bob, it was child abuse. If the guys weren't wearing a concert shirt, they had on a Hot Topic shirt, you know the type with flames or skulls gracing the itchy polyester. And if the mall favorites weren't tucked into their their jeans they were untucked over their faded and dirty blue jeans topped off with a dirty pair of sneaks.

The ladies all modeled their own ensemble. I'd have to say that at least 85% of the women who came in packs, all had on blue jeans with black pumps under them and black leather jackets, if they were wearing jackets that is. And they clip-clopped all over the floor without rhythm and in the way that you know when they dance always need to balance themselves with a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other. Most common beverage of choice among this breed would be a Miller Lite.

And then there were the hairdo's and Tattoos which screamed "WHITE TRASH!" adding ever so pleasantly to the spectacle. Didn't any of these fellers hear the mullet jokes circulating beginning back in the mid-late 90's till present day Americana? But don't dare laugh at it or even look his way, because he'll surely whoop yer faggot ass just for doing so. And whatever you do, avoid at all costs even engaging in any kind of conversation with his ol lady. This rule applies even if she instigates the banter, and she will, whether he's in the pisser or in line for one of those $65 Crue hooded sweatshirts he just has to have. Even if you so much as ask her where the restroom is you'll find yourself being picked up off the floor after he's clocked the bejesus out of you and you'll spend the rest of the evening with an icepack on your face and rubbing alcohol cleaning the scratch marks left from his filthy and untrimmed fingernails.

It' imparitive to note that Bob is in a wheelchair, and that means even after he's been shoved aside by crude and rude fans o the Crue, he still has to get to one of the two places designated for the handicapped. And these are NOT the best seats in the house, but like I said, I was now here and doing this for him. Besides BH can really handle his own. In a chair he endures more punishment of all of my friends with the exception of jSIN. But that doesn't excuse the idiots who cold care less from not being polite and aware of his condition. Even more so what we were about to encounter next when it came to the handicapped seating situation.

We arrived at one of the handicapped wheelchair accessible areas which was over full. One of the guys who pushed a friend up there was arguing with security. I soon discovered the issue apparant, the chairs which were supposed to be one line across, were doubled up. Seems Slipknot who were in town the following night, wanted to see the show so they took over the other handicapped area forcing people who had designated tickets for that area into the area Bob and I were. Slipknow is a massively successful and right now but that doesn't give them the right to put wheelchair bound ticket paying customers out of their seats so they can see the show. In fact, it's one of the rudest things I've ever seen any band do. And the staff at the Allstate Arena should have had the AFA called on them. Maybe they did. I'm sure they'll pay a nominal fine and we'll never hear of it.

I walked back down to pick us up 2 more of the $7.25 beers and while in line became the focus of a very very drunk guy named John Glass who seemed overly impressed by my credentials to the point he had to scream it out to everyone who walked by. Folks, he wanted me to share his name with you all otherwise I wouldn't have even brought it up. He was proud of his condition as he breathed his dragon breath on me and two other guys who just wanted their beer and a show. This guy was one of those who would not shut up, stumbled around got on everyone's nerves and was just annoying. In fact he was fair representation to most of the attendees of the big show. And when I was finally at the front of the line and the first song kicked in and the stampede of running Motley loyalists would knock over anything and anyone in their way in order to get to their seat.

There was no opening act and after a 5 minute cartoon Motley kicked in at 8:30 and on a huge stage of 80's proportions the did attempt to utilize it to their best. But they failed. Vince was huffing, missing lyrics and the only real energy of the show was Nikki Sixx who played the role of rock star the way he always has. For me who is numb to spine chilling performances at this point. (okay, I admit I sometimes do when it comes to a really intense performance, and I've even been guilty of shedding a tear in the last 5 years) I was very unimpressed and even more shitty by the fact of all I had to endure just to take a friend to relive a part of his youth that I chose to skip. The chapter titled Motley Crue really doesn't enter into the AZ biography.

After 45 minutes the band took a 20 minute intermission. That's right they couldn't, for whatever reason and I hope it's not for Mick, needed a rest after not even an hour of playing. A lot of fucking good it did the fans to make a piss stop and a beer run since Allstate stops selling beer at 930. So it was either run to the front of the line or piss. If you tried to piss and then get it line you'd be to far back to get served.

By the time the band took the stage again, I think we waited 4 more songs and left. I was bored and Bob, who is a fan, was unimpressed.

Perhaps the best review would be to post a few lines fro a Chart Attack review (www.chartattack.com) of a recent Canadian based performance of the Motlies. At least the reviewer did not hold prejudice due to being mislead into doing loads of press and free advertising for the organization who pretty much took advantage of our services.

Motley Crue Serve Stellar Plate Of Cheese By Keith Carman

The only way to watch the recent Motley Crue show was to go in with a sense of humour. Anyone expecting flawless musicianship, a tight band or anything less then full-on cheese was to be severely disappointed with Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and now-decrepit Mick Mars. Motley Crue are a band that never got better… just more popular.
Technically, the band were a mess. Other than being winded during "Kickstart My Heart," Neil spent more time coercing the fans into singing than actually taking the vocal duties himself. The plethora of dancing girls, midgets riding motorcycles onto the stage for "Girls, Girls, Girls" and video footage seemed intended more to distract from the inconsistent performances than anything. Sixx spent more time with his hands in the air than actually playing his bass.

And what about Tommy Lee’s obligatory drum solo? It was so far-fetched and uninspired that he shouldn’t have bothered. Swinging back and forth between two electronic drum kits suspended above the stage, the gimmick was great in theory, but Lee was obviously going through the motions.

As was Nikki Sixx during his "solo," a noise-fest combining distorted bass and synthesizers bleating away as a sea of sparks engulfed him. Goofy and pointless, it was obviously his vanity trip and little else.

Overall, thanks to all the ‘80s excess, The Crue did manage to keep things upbeat and thrill us. Shouting along to "Live Wire" was fun and the band’s own excitement at actually keeping it together kept things positive. Now if they could just learn to be as proficient as they are amusing.

And that my dear reader is doing a lot more justice to the band than I could in my own words. - AZ

Saturdays entry shall arrive tomorrow.

Motley Crude

Hey kids, I'm here. I'll be updating the events of the evening we went to cover Motley Crue at The Allstae Arena. But I need a day. I'm heading out to Transit with the boys tonight and will have plenty of time to catch up on everything when I get back from church tonight.

Have a great and safe weekend.

MC, The OC, and FC

BUTTERBURGER.jpg

Tonight is the Motley Crue show. I'm taking Bob because jSIN is unable to make it for 2 reasons. #1 There is a 2 minute trailer for the new Star Wars movie during his favorite show the OC and #2 his phone bill was too high from talking to Finger Cuffs, thus he can't afford transportation from the corn state.

And there's a whole fucked up story regarding events leading up to this Motley Crue show but I cannot divulge them till after the show, at which time I'll be more than happy to spill.

So it is tonight that I'm going to see Motley for the second time in my career. The first time was when John Corabi was the singer and Type O Negative opened. This was the first time I'd met the band. Type O that is. I lasted about 4 songs into the set and then Mike and I went to the parking lot and met some girls. However, I have run into Vince several times in Las Vegas, and last Jan when he receited his marriage vows for a 3rd time.

So I have to wonder and at least hope this show is all that I hear it is. At the very least, I get to go to Culvers afterwards where BH is buying me my very first Butter Burger in exchange for me working tirelessly to get us tickets which I was promised last Fall. Again, more on that tomorrow. At least Bob and I are capable of making a good time out of anything and this looks to be one of them.

I just want to see his face when the reunited Rainbow take the stage later this year.

One thing I know I'm going to witness are the fans of MC, which leaves a lot to be desired. Arena rock shows bring out a particular breed, and are almost in-bred. They come across the state lines from Indiana, the trailer parks and backwash of the rural Midwest with bad tattoos, hair, and faded denim. There's plenty of pleather and leather on people who have no purpose at all sporting it, and I'm sure lots of sunglasses will be mounted on the foreheads and tops of heads of the elite, ultra cool breeders. Over priced t-shirts and beer will be scooped up by the true believers and loyal fans of the Crue who would sooner scoff at you for your prefrence of Nine Inch Nails or Type O than admit they've ever listened to their music. They are simply "fags" to them, and so are we for liking them.

And you can bet they hate KISS as much as band does, because to them, no matter what, Motley was the first to don make up, costumes and do the big production. Hey, didn't the "then" reunited KISS have a circus themed tour back in 99? Nah, must have been a dream. And didn't KISS sell out 2 and 3 nights in a row at the very same venue, and have such grand demand that they returned on the second leg of 2 consecutive tours? Nah, and why would I know, I'm only a journalist of sorts.

For the Crue who have not had a hit in the last 2 decades are back, and back together, again. And so are the fans who haven't seen each other since the last bathtub crank cook off, or at least the last time the Motley's came through here, with or with out Tommy or Vince. And you can bet that BH and I will be there to take inventory, and report it back to you, all of you, not in this "blog" but on the front page of this very site. And BIG DAN will be on hand tonight to take pictures. Let us only hope the boys in the band can refrain from onstage racial slurs this time. There's a time and place for such vulgarities and onstage in front of thousands of people is not.

Shout at The Devil!

Now I just want to say to those of you who have and are experiencing any difficulties on this site and maybe happen to skip the news which I work so diligently on every day to put up on here for the thousand and thousands of people who return every day. We moved servers, and there are as expected a few glitches here and there. Afra did a smoking job of moving us to their server and any issue that insure are typical but still, based on past experience, further between than in the past. I was having email problems the last few weeks and not getting email from some people. That was because the other sever was so congested. But we're back and I have some BIG surprises for all of you in the upcoming weeks. Thanks AZ

Weekends weren't made for waiting

Well early Saturday evening I finally got my internet up and going. Another horror story of a move. They had me scheduled for install between 8 AM and noon on Friday. The tech showed up at 1030 but claimed he could not install the line where it had been run into the residence by them 3 years ago. So I had to track down the property owner and get written permission. Well the guy came back, later than the 2 PM promised time and hooked me up and left without verifying it was live. The end result, he left a modem that was friend. It wasn't live and this is something that I would think would be the first thing checked. So after a lot of trouble shooting I finally got an answer., they scheduled a next day between 2-4 PM. Cool. Not great but better than waiting.

I was in the shower when they called to verify the appointment for 2-4 PM, and as I was walking out the door to the store at 1030 the tech walked up. He was only 3.5 hours early. But better early that late, right. I imagine if I would have been 1 minute head of schedule before walking out that I would have missed the entire appointment.

(Why is it the phone always rings when I'm in the shower? It's usually BH.)

Well, first thing I could not help but notice was this guy reeked of weed. And he was obviously stoned because of his drawn out and nearly idiotic speech. Either that or he was just stupid. But he still smelled of pot.

He left and it still wasn't working. After 5 calls and 8 hours later I finally got a tech who spoke clear English to be patient and walk me through all the steps to rectify the issue. My theory is it was Saturday and they all knew that I would have likely taken too long to fix so they passed the buck every time till the next shift came in. I know the game, I've worked customer service, and seen people pull the number first hand. Well, it's fixed, and someday they may as well get real monkey to do the job of these slack whacks.

So Sunday I spent hours posting review and interviews as you can see while everyone in Chicago enjoyed the mid 50 degree weather that has since gone away as fast as it arrived. But it's done and at least this is a far cry better than SBC who NEVER get it right.

Nothing spectacular to speak of. I am enjoying the late Sunday night programming on ME Ch 23. 1 hour of twilight Zone, 1 hour of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and 1 hour of and old series I was unaware of called One Step Beyond. That'll keep me in on Sundays till BBQ season begins.

Off to brave the cold.

One Step Beyond was mainly filmed at M-G-M Studios, Hollywood, and partly at M-G-M British Studios, Borehamwood, Herts. It premiered nine months before The Twilight Zone, and was also known as Alcoa Presents: One Step Beyond. All episodes are directed by Newland himself, a dab hand whose trademark is subtle, balletic camera work.

This series fed the nation's growing interest in paranormal suspense in a different way. Rather than creating fictional stories with supernatural twists and turns, this program sought out 'real' stories of the supernatural, including ghosts, disappearances, monsters, etc., and re-creating them for each episode. No solutions to these mysteries were ever found, and viewers could only scratch their heads and wonder, "what if it's real?"

Down And Out (But Don't Count Me Out)

AZTRANS2.jpg

MK Online will not be posting any updates till sometime Friday March 4 in the afternoon. New broadband service is being installed in the new office and we will be unable to communicate via email or any other online method till new service is up and active.

We appreciate your time visiting and will be back at cha before the weekend kicks into high gear.

We've peaked above any of our past traffic stats last month and the trend continues to grow. It's still hard for me to believe. We appreciate your support, and willingness to watch us as we grow, because without you we'd be just another speck in cyberspace.

Say What?

KROSEAZOS.jpg
"Guns and Roses" AZ, Kristy Rose, Marc Osorno photo by Dan Locke

Not much going on really other than March has been freaking cold here in the Windy City. Yesterday I spent 2 hours outside transferring on buses and trains. It was a bitch. It was 25 then and it's 16 today. BRRRRRR. Saw a pretty good Tom Hanks movie last night called "The Terminal". It had me cracking up. The night before I sat at home with 3 cats watching "Ginger Snaps 1 and 2" which were really great and a pleasant surprise.

Over the weekend as I mentioned last we saw Twisting Roses. Looks like we'll be heading out to the burbs to interview their singer/guitarist this weekend. I hope to be the person in the press who breaks this rising star.

Saturday night I met BH at Rosemont and we went to El Sombrero for a couple margaritas. They sucked. Seriously, these things were premixed. It was the laziest margaritas I've had in years and I've made much better at home and when camping. The Cuervo mix was on tap and the Cabo Waboritas (Cabo Wabo being one of the worlds finest) was premixed and I have no idea when. But it came from a plastic container, warm, and from under the bar. Sammy would have had a fit.

We met two of Bobs old friends, from when he was 19 and we went to his friend Pete's restaurant PSISTARIA in Lincolnwood. It is an old Greek restaurant and really good. The portions are rather large and the plates are about $3 - $5 less than in Greektown. Though I can't complain because on my trips to Greektown full price has never been paid. Neither was it at PSISTARIA though. Pete kept sending more food and rounds of drinks.

After that I went to Naperville for a cozy yet cold evening and early morning. No hot tub this time, bummer. Soon though, very soon. When I got back to town off the train at 7:30 Sunday night it was cold and raining.

So nothing terribly or even mildly exciting happening here. It isn't rock n roll all the time, and now that I'm getting settled into the new place I'm enjoying the comforts of home, for the first time in a long time.

I did get an interesting letter through the website yesterday from an underage girl who "claims" to be another victim of Tripp. I'll share it with you but not the source. No matter how you look at it, it doesn't look good. Considering the spelling and grammar, it's either truly and underage gal or from a local wanna be rocker who has the same intellect and level education. "Can you spell GED?"

How did you find MK?: through a friend
Questions/Comments: i just wanted to say that preston nash guy must only knows him as a friend. i wish he knew the Tripp that i\'m sure a few of us underage girls know him as. i speak for myself and the other girls he manipulated- i\'m sure they\'re afraid of coming forward- they dont want their parents to know. the fact is tripp has lied to us, i thought he was only seeing me. thanks to your web site i know now he was seeing all these girls and lying to me. i\'m a minor myself- and i know how he can be_
