Comic Book Hero Movie News: BATMAN. Fantastic 4, Iron Man, and Ghost Rider

Nolan: Knight Will Have Dent
Christopher Nolan, who will direct the Batman sequel The Dark Knight, confirmed to IGN.com that the character of district attorney Harvey Dent, who becomes the villainous "Two Face," will appear in the movie. "I don't want to go into too many specifics. Yes, he is" in the film, Nolan told the site after a screening of Nolan's first movie, Following, at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. No one has been cast yet, he added.
As for the status of the sequel, Nolan said, "I haven't finished the script yet. I'm supposed to be doing it right now. ... It's a pretty direct continuation of where the last film left off, and the last scene of Batman Begins suggests a strong direction we wanted to take the story in. It absolutely carries on with a lot of the thematic concerns and hopefully takes it someplace new." The final scene of the previous movie shows Batman (Christian Bale) examining a playing card with an image of the Joker.
Nolan also talked briefly about his plans to adapt the classic British TV series The Prisoner. "The Prisoner is something I've been interested in for quite a long time, and I think I've figured out the take on how we'd approach it," he said. "The relevance of it today. David and Janet Peoples are terrific, who you know wrote Blade Runner and Twelve Monkeys, ... all kinds of great movies. They're working on the script right now. I wouldn't want to speak for them. I'm very excited to see what they've come up with."
Four 2 Cast Fills Out
Beau Garrett and Andre Braugher have been cast in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which Tim Story is directing for 20th Century Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The duo join a cast that includes returnees Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis, who will reprise their title roles in the sequel to last year's hit Fantastic Four. Shooting is under way in Vancouver, B.C.
Garrett will play Frankie Raye, a scientist and love interest to Evans' character. In the comic she eventually gains super powers.
Braugher will play a general with the responsibility to capture the Silver Surfer.
Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man!
Academy Award® Nominee Robert Downey Jr. will take on the role of one of Marvel's greatest Super Heroes, signing on as the title character for Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Iron Man. This project, the first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment, will launch into theaters May 2, 2008. The film is being directed by Jon Favreau and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
Downey is widely recognized as one of Hollywood's most versatile actors. Nominated for an Oscar® for his extraordinary portrayal of Charlie Chaplin in "Chaplin," Downey has been featured in more than 50 films. His upcoming credits include "Fur" (co-starring Nicole Kidman), "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," and the David Fincher film "Zodiac." He has also recently been seen in such films as: "A Scanner Darkly," "The Shaggy Dog," "Good Night, And Good Luck.," "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang," "Gothika," "The Singing Detective" and "Wonder Boys."
Based upon Marvel's iconic Super Hero, Iron Man tells the story of Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. Upon his return to America, Tony must come to terms with his past. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.
"Robert Downey Jr. is one of the most talented and acclaimed actors of this generation. His versatility sets him apart and makes him an ideal fit to play such a complex character as Iron Man. We could not think of another actor better suited to bring one of Marvel's crown jewels to the big screen and be the centerpiece of our first independently produced feature," said Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios is currently casting all supporting roles. Filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles in February 2007.
Iron Man will be produced by Feige and Avi Arad. Executive Producers are Michael Helfant, Ari Arad, Favreau, Louis D'Esposito and Peter Billingsley. Downey is represented by CAA.

NOW ON THE ROAD: Charles Band Second Full Moon Horror Road Show

(HOLLYWOOD)—Charles Band, whose 270 plus films as founder of independent sci-fi/horror studio, Full Moon Pictures, established him as one of Hollywood’s most successful cult movie impresarios, has announced that he will stage the second incarnation of his Full Moon Horror Road Show this fall beginning in San Francisco on September 14.
Last year’s eighteen city theatre run featured Band orchestrating a wild mix of surprise guest appearances, never-before-seen rare Full Moon footage, off-the-wall contests, original puppet & doll auctions at each tour stop, bizarre audience participation, unique merchandise and road show specials and the chance to win a part to be killed in a Full Moon feature. This year’s twenty-one city trek figures to be an even wilder foray into a world where the only limits are that of imagination.
Band is known for the many surprises he brings to his shows and this year’s tour features a raft of new eye openers. The coup de grace is a live on-stage decapitation. In addition, there will be a provocative audience participation event called The Casting Couch and the unveiling of GAMEBRA, the follow-up to last year’s wildly popular MONSTERBRA. Band will also be awarding “Executive Producer” credits to many attendees as well as giving away copies of his much anticipated film, Evil Bong, starring Tommy Chong, set for national release October 24.
“We’ll be having a great time,” he promised. I’ll be unveiling some awesome new merchandise, some of which will be for sale in limited quantity, introducing celebrity guests in each city, presenting our cast of spooky characters and half-naked chicks and much, much more. But you’ll have to come and see for yourself! I’m looking forward to meeting as many of our fans as possible and I’ll be on hand after each show to chat and sign autographs.”
Band will kick off Full Moon Horror Road Show II in San Francisco, September 14 @ Rickshaw Stop; 9/15, La Jolla, CA, @ La Jolla Brew House; Phoenix, 9/16 @ Big Daddy’s North; 9/17, Las Vegas @ Celebrity Nightclub and Lounge; 9/21, Austin @ Alamo South Lamar; 9/22, Dallas @ Lakewood Theatre; 9/23, Norman, OK @ Sooner Theatre; 9/24, Little Rock @ Juanita’s Café & Bar; 9/28, Miami @ The Pawn Shop Lounge; 9/29, Clearwater, FL, @ The Majestic Lounge and Nightclub; 9/30, Marietta, GA @ The Darkside; 10/1, Charlotte, NC @ Neighborhood Theatre; 10/5, Baltimore @ Have A Nice Day Cafe; 10/6, Garwood, NJ @ The Crossroads; 10/7, Poughkeepsie @ The Loft; 10/8, Allston, MA @ The Kells Of Boston; 10/11, Buffalo @ The Icon; 10/12, Cleveland @ The Agora; 10/13, Chicago @ Excalibur Nightclub; 10/14, Middleton, WI @ The Warehouse Stage; 10/15, Minneapolis @ The Varsity Theatre.

Happy Birthday Batman! / TV's Batman Adam West turns 78 today!

Say what you will about the classic campy 1960’s Batman TV series, Adam West’s contribution to the history of Batman cannot be ignored! The series premiered on the ABC television network on January 12 1966 and was a huge hit. The series ran for three seasons and was canceled in 1968. The series spawned a film, Batman: The Movie and the campy tone of the show took the country by storm and created a merchandising bonanza the likes of which had never been seen before.
Many hardcore bat-fans blame the 60’s series with its POW! BAM! BIFF! for ruining Batman, but most fans forget that at the time in the comics the Caped Crusader was at an all time low, battling purpled headed aliens and giant bugs, a far cry from his darker origins. It was not until the likes of Neal Adams, Denny O’Neil & Frank Miller that the Dark Knight was returned to his darker roots!
Happy Birthday ADAM WEST!
