That cool celebration of American music and car culture, Hootenanny,
has expanded to a two-day event this year. Taking place at Cal State
University Fullerton Field (Fullerton, CA), the festival has the Stray
Cats headlining the first day (7/5) and Social Distortion (7/6) heading
up the second day. This will be the Stray Cats' first show together
in more than a decade, whereas Social D return for the fourth time to
this quintessential celebration of American music. Now in its eighth
year, Hootenanny will also feature Little Richard, John Doe, Rocket
From The Crypt, Junior Brown, Dave Alvin, The Blasters, The Paladins,
and Cadillac Tramps, John Doe (performing solo) and Exene Cervenka (with
Original Sinners), along with more than 300 classic cars on display.
With rockabilly as the core sound of Hootenanny,
The Stray Cats are the perfect fit. Says Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim
Phantom, "The Hootenanny attracts the hardcore people who live
this
lifestyle and keep it going - this is the right way for us to get
together again: to do it for the true believers." Check out www.
