6TH ANNUAL VOODOO MUSIC® EXPERIENCE

NEW ORLEANS MUSIC FESTIVAL RETURNS OCTOBER 16 & 17, 04

WHAT: 6th Annual Voodoo Music® Experience

WHERE: New Orleans City Park - New Orleans, LA

WHEN: Saturday, October 16 & Sunday, October 17, 2004

New Orleans, LA: After more than 110,000 music worshipers made the pilgrimage in 2003, The Voodoo Music® Experience today announced its return this fall. Set among the enchanted surroundings of New Orleans City Park, the sounds of the eclectic will fill the misty air for one spellbinding weekend this October.

A short distance from the notorious French Quarter, Voodoo has become musical folklore in its own right in a city steeped in tradition and intrigue. Created in 1999, by independent producer Stephen Rehage, the festival has captivated more than 300,000 attendees in just five years. Its cult-like following draws crowds from across the country to make the yearly trek for a weekend of music and mayhem.

“The exotic mixture of African, European and Caribbean elements made New Orleans into perhaps the most unique musical and cultural melting pot that the world could produce,” explains Rehage, Voodoo Founder and Executive Producer. “Voodoo’s orchestration will continue to represent the diversity and exoticism of its home.”

Even with its underground, independent culture, Voodoo has still managed to be noticed by the industry, being nominated by Pollstar Magazine for “Festival of the Year” in 2001 and 2003. With critically acclaimed talents performing simultaneously on multiple stages throughout the weekend, combined with more intimate performances and impromptu gatherings throughout the 60 acres of swampy grounds, Voodoo is a musical and cultural movement that promises to leave its audience spiritually intoxicated.

After being the major force in creating the Halloween music phenomenon currently happening in New Orleans, Voodoo has moved to an earlier date in an attempt to keep tickets and travel cost low for its devoted fans. “As the Voodoo ritual grows along with the New Orleans Halloween tradition, the hotel and transportation costs have continued to grow for our fans,” states Rehage, “We moved to keep the event affordable for our core audience.”

With booking for this year’s festival underway, information regarding the 2004 talent line-up and a ticket on-sale date will be announced shortly.
