Ken Foree, who played SWAT team member Peter Washington in George Romero's original 1978 Dawn of the Dead, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that a special-edition DVD of the classic zombie movie will come out later this year. Foree said in an interview that he was recently contacted by Anchor Bay Entertainment, the company responsible for the current single-disc Divimax version, about doing a commentary track on the upcoming release.

Foree said that he would be joined on the commentary track by fellow actors David Emge, Scott Reiniger and Gaylen Ross, who play the living refugees who hole up in a shopping mall after the world is overrun by zombies. The Anchor Bay Web site describes the release as a multidisc set, which promises "to be the most extensive edition of any title in Anchor Bay's history." The special edition of Dawn of the Dead will include multiple versions of the film, as well as interviews with cast and crew members. The DVD set is planned for release in September.
