On the tailwinds of the energetic Democratic National Convention, held last month in Boston, MA, rock band Black Rebel Motorcycle will play a special fund raising event in Los Angeles tonight, alongside other acts including Michelle Shocked and Concrete Blonde lead Johnette Napolitano. Musicians, activists, fashionistas and entertainment elite will gather at the El Rey Theater to hear top musicians play acoustic sets aimed at “unplugging” President Bush. The event is being set up by the progressive political action committees, The Committee to ReDefeat the President and www.ReDefeatBush.com whose goal is to register one million new Democratic voters in swing states before the November election to help elect John Kerry as the next President of the United States. Other musicians who outwardly support the organization include Anthony Kedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ken Jordan (The Crystal Method), Chris Vrenna (Tweaker) and DJ Christopher Lawrence. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at: www.ReDefeatBush.com.
