Celebrating his new release, Songs of No Consequence, Graham Parker and the Figgs bring their full-fledged rock show to the Double Door on Friday, June 24!
"Songs Of No Consequence hearkens back to Graham's golden age with The Rumour! Well-crafted songs, incisive intelligent lyrics, and a tight, rockin' band. This is the CD GP fans have been waiting for!" - 93XRT Program Director, Norm Weiner
"Few artists who first rose to prominence during the 70's new wave era have worn well in the present tense. Elvis slips and slides. Patty Smith, Paul Weller, and XTC keep the flame burning though time has taken its toll. Blondie and the Sex Pistols have gone Las Vegas. Squeeze and the Pogues are oldies acts and the Ramones and the Clash are ghosts. Parker remains as vital as ever; somewhat skeptical, always suspicious, enjoyably sardonic, but never really 'angry'." -Amplifier's Tom Semioli

Graham Parker, Songs Of No Consequence
Release Date: June 7, 2005:
Infested with the Parker of yore, the Parker that was blowing away his fans and critics alike with his acerbic rock during the 70's new wave movement, the Parker who was busting out songs like "Mercury Poisoning" to celebrate his far from holy matrimony to Mercury Records, GP heads back to his primal beginning with his second release on Bloodshot Records, Songs Of No Consequence.
Think of this new release as his 2005 answer to the 1979 bona fide new wave classic, 'Squeezing Out Sparks'.
Backed by the Figgs, the modern day equivalent to his old mates in The Rumour, Graham Parker's fresh load of songs hit hard in the gut, punctuating his trademark acidic-by-nature songwriting fans know well. Contemporary and full of witty retort, not to mention it's loaded down with sexual innuendo (did someone say sex?!?) with song titles like, 'Suck and Blow' and 'She Swallows It'.
