McFarlane Toys has announced the latest figure to join their expanding collection of music figures. Slash, considered to be one of the greatest guitarists to come out of the late 1980s, and a former member of GUNS N' ROSES, has become the latest edition.
With his trademark top hat and omnipresent cigarette, the guitarist born Saul Hudson challenged and destroyed the stagnant musical scene of the late '80s with his former band. Slash still remains one of the premier hard rock guitarists of all time, touring currently with VELVET REVOLVER whose debut album, "Contraband", has reached platinum status.
"It's extremely flattering and humbling to be immortalized in plastic," Slash said in a statement.
The figure will feature Slash with his top hat and leather jacket while playing guitar. It will be available in July 2005 and will sell for $10-$12.

World Entertainment News Network is reporting that former NIRVANA drummer and current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl is furious after learning President George W. Bush used the FOO FIGHTERS track "Times Like These" at a campaign rally.
The mastermind behind the PROBOT project is a staunch supporter of Bush's Democratic rival John Kerry, and didn't appreciate Bush using his song in a political arena.
"I don't give a shit if he likes our band, but I take it personally when a politician that doesn't represent my personal beliefs uses music that I poured my heart and soul into for his personal gain," said Grohl.
Rather than issuing a cease-and-desist letter, Grohl "took action" by performing at a recently rally for Kerry in Iowa, where he played "My Hero", "Times Like These" and "Learn To Fly".
He added, "I sang those songs, which are supposed to represent love, hope and compassion for a person that I believe represents all of those things."

The MOFOWEAR www.mofowear.net and MK Magazine Great ViXXXen Hunt Kontest winners will be announced later this evening.
We were ISO for a few new girls who would like to be our newest ViXXXens. Winners will receive the following from Mofowear.net

Well folks, you’ve read the script, heard the soundtrack, encountered the rumors about director Jim VanBebber. So the final question is, of course, is “The Manson Family”, a legendary 16mm film which took 15 years to complete from start to finish...actually any good?
Absolutely!
“The Manson Family” (previous title: “Charlie’s Family”), started when the director was a mere 24 years old (which makes it all the more incredible an accomplishment), is a grim, gritty, nihilistic, sexy, gory, disturbing, beautiful, sleazy, truthful take on the notorious young members of cult leader Charles Manson’s self-styled ‘Family’. Recounting their deeds here – the Tate-LaBianca murders, the hardcore acid abuse, the orgies at Spahn Ranch, etc – seems utterly redundant as they have become such a familiar part of the American cultural psyche, something which VanBebber addresses directly in the film, which he conceived as a statement about endless media fascination with the Family in the decades since their incarceration.
The film consists of several interwoven strands – footage of the family at the time leading up and including the murders, contemporary prison interviews with the incarcerated Family members (interestingly contrasting their sometimes skewed, rose-color-tinted versions of past events with the cold hard reality of events like gang rape), and contemporary, superb, Cinema of Transgression-inspired scenes of a gang of mad, nihilistic Manson followers. These strands are held together by a trashy TV journalist making a show about named Crime Scene about the Family, which is a neat framing device allowing for an angry confrontation coda between the Manson teens and the tabloid hack.
And what of the footage in between? Well, it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted, that’s for sure. The murders are shown in unflinching, super-graphic detail (with occasionally ropey FX by the director, it has to be said, but it was all done with no money so that’s forgivable), except for the murder of Sharon Tate, which VanBebber shies away from out of respect to Roman Polanski. Nevertheless, the Tate house scene still managed to garner several walkouts during this year’s CUFF, and it’s hardly surprising.
The sex scenes are very graphic and realistic (“30 people in a field on acid fucking like dogs” as VanBebber once put it to me) and an orgy scene where the Family cut a dog’s throat and fuck covered in its blood is as near to a representation of a Heironymous Bosch painting as you’re likely to see in cinema, replete with acid-scarred tripped-out brain-damaged visuals. THIS is the reason we come to underground cinema, to see beautiful damaged hardcore fucking shit the mainstream will not show, and VanBebber does not disappoint.
The actual performances during the film range from excellent to somewhat amateurish, but this amateurism is easily absorbed by the sheer power of the imagery on display. The depth of the director’s vision and his extremely angry execution of selfsame is both shocking and awe-inspiring. Cinematographer Mike King’s imagework is exemplary, experimental and extremely focused at the same time, making brilliant use of several different film stocks (replete with faux scratches to replicate decades-old footage) and video to paint a visually inspiring film that far surpasses its budgetary limitations.
This truly is one great-looking film whose like will never come our way again. I would recommend it without reservation, if you think you can take it. But one thing’s for sure: you will never, ever forget it after viewing it, so don’t be surprised if you find a traveling cavalcade of naked freaky bloodsmeared drugfucked homicidal lost kids led by a bearded maniacally laughing man creepy crawling through your bad dreams in some post-screening unguarded sweatsoaked predawn moment...

CHICAGO - Members of the Dave Matthews Band have offered to provide DNA samples to help authorities get to the bottom of whether raw sewage from its bus was dumped into the Chicago River.
A lawsuit by Illinois' attorney general contends the band's tour bus emptied its septic tank while crossing a grated bridge over the Chicago River on Aug. 8. A tour boat was passing beneath the bridge and more than 100 passengers were doused with raw sewage.
The band issued a statement on its Web site saying members have offered to provide DNA evidence to help authorities determine the source of the sewage.
In its statement, the band also said that if its bus is found to be responsible for the incident, the band will "work quickly to make amends, with the people on the boat and with Chicago."
"We care deeply about what happened to the people on the boat that day, which was terrible, and the damage that occurred to Chicago's environment," the letter states.

WICHITA, Kan. - Students at Wilbur Middle School who like the Goth look will have to rethink their clothing this year.
Principal Cherie Crain announced last week that the black lipstick, eye shadow, nail polish and hair dye of the so-called Goth style, can't be combined with all-black clothing anymore.
Crain said the students dressing in so-called Goth style had become a distraction, and some younger students were intimidated. She also said she has had a rule banning clothing or accessories that define a group of students in the Wilbur rule book for at least 15 years.
"Anything disruptive to school is a no-no, too," Crain said. "And this is definitely a disruption."
In this case, the accessories like studded metal bracelets, the black makeup and graphic T-shirts advertising heavy metal bands are the biggest concern, Crain said.
In past years, only two or three kids among Wilbur's 1,000 students dressed Goth, and Crain said she let that slide. But when school started last week, about a dozen kids had adopted the Goth look.
"We just want everybody to feel comfortable at school," Crain said.
Eighth-graders Rachel Perkins and Thea Lee said they'll need new wardrobes.
"Everybody that wears black clothes all the time has nothing but black clothes in their closets," Perkins said.
Lee said she owns one white shirt and one blue shirt. The rest of her clothes are black.
"We're just scaring the parents," Lee said. "And we scared one sixth-grader."
Lee's mom, Pamela Lee, said she doesn't think it's a problem if her daughter and friends want to dress in Goth styles.
"I don't understand why she's coming down on them," Pamela Lee said. "They're just standing around doing nothing and looking freaky."
Debbie McKenna, who supervises the district's safe and drug-free schools programs, said wearing Goth clothing can be a warning sign of other problems. Teachers are trained to check if students who wear such clothes have withdrawn from other students and if they're using drugs.
But the clothing might also be just a harmless way for students to differentiate themselves from the crowd.
"In the '60s you grew your hair down to your butt," McKenna said. "In the 2000s, you wear all black and black makeup."

More details on the "Clerks" sequel were released on the weekend when Kevin Smith told the Associated Press that he's begun work on the film which will be entitled "The Passion of the Clerks".
The original $27,000 movie chronicled the adventures of Dante and Randal, two guys who talk about life, death, sex and movies while working at neighboring stores. The sequel will pick up events ten years on and shooting is scheduled to begin in January with Miramax distributing the film.
"It's about what happens when that lazy, 20-something malaise lasts into your 30s. Those dudes are kind of still mired, not in that same exact situation, but in a place where it's time to actually grow up and do something more than just sit around and dissect pop culture and talk about sex. It's: What happened to these dudes?" says Smith.
The "Clerks" sequel has moved to the top of his to-do list, making it quite likely he'll no longer direct "The Green Hornet" adaptation. Both the original "Clerks" main stars Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson are signed on, and Jason Mewes, will return as stoner Jay, the "hetero life-mate" of Smith's stoic Silent Bob.
As for the budget - "We're going to do it insanely inexpensively. The budget will be somewhere between 250 grand and $5 million. This time around we'll afford ourselves the luxury of nice 12-hour days, and people can get paid".

We told you so. - AZ

Los Angeles, CA – Mary Carey will be a guest tonight on the Fox New Channel’s top rated, prime time program “Hannity & Colmes” at 9pm. She’ll be discussing Kick Ass Pictures’ “Bullets not Boobs” program, which gained worldwide attention after last week’s successful rally outside a military recruiting station in L.A.
“Bullets not Boobs” is a protest movement opposing the U.S. military’s offer of free boob jobs and other plastic surgery. Last week’s rally was on the network feed of all four TV networks, as well as in hundreds of newspapers worldwide courtesy of articles by the Associated Press and Reuters. Earlier this week, Carey talked about the program on Fox News Channel’s “Our World with Neil Cavuto.”
Carey is looking forward to going head to head with the political sharpshooters. “Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes will be putty in my hands,” Carey said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re conservative or liberal, nobody likes the idea of using our tax dollars for boob jobs!”
Mark Kulkis, president of Kick Ass Pictures, created “Bullets not Boobs” after reading an article in the New Yorker magazine exposing the free breast augmentation the military was giving to active duty members of its armed forces. For more information concerning “Bullets not Boobs,” visit the website www.bulletsnotboobs.com.
Mary Carey’s hardcore adult movies are distributed exclusively by Kick Ass Pictures, which is based in downtown Los Angeles. Every movie it releases comes with a “Kick Ass Guarantee” that it contains: 1. No Fake Tits 2. No Condoms 3. All-Naked Sex 4. Entertainment Value.

NEW YORK - It looks like Jenna Jameson has a top 10 hit on her hands. “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star,” the star's ballyhooed memoir with Neil Strauss and the highest profile book in a wave of summer tomes related to sex, made its New York Times Bestsellers List debut, landing at #27 on the Hardcover Non-Fiction list for August 29.
But because the book went on sale August 17, the 27th place ranking reflects a single day of sales. Unofficial sources indicate Jameson’s ranking on next week’s yet-to-be-announced list will be as high as #9. The book has also cracked the top 10 in overall sales at Amazon.com, and the top 20 overall at Barnes and Noble’s on-line site.
“We’re ecstatic,” Paul Crichton, publicity manager at publisher ReganBooks, told AVN.com. “If you base it off a comparison took books of this type, Traci Lords never hits the bestseller list. Pamela Anderson hit #15.”
Even at #27, Jameson’s tome landed ahead of projects by writers like gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson and television commentator Cokie Roberts. Because of the conservative nature of some booksellers in a literary marketplace that depends greatly on store placement and hands-on promotion, Jameson’s initial listings seem specifically impressive. According to the publisher, bookstores have reacted extremely well to the book. “We’ve had no problems, none, for the most part,” Crichton says.
The New York Times list is not only a measure of sales achieved. Its high-profile nature usually leads to more attention by booksellers and distributors. The list is also a cultural touchstone akin to putting a song in the Billboard Top 40, and thus should enhance Jameson’s already considerable celebrity.

CHICAGO (AP) - The state of Illinois sued the Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday for allegedly dumpig up to 800 pounds of liquid waste from a bus into the Chicago River, dousing a tour boat filled with passengers.
The lawsuit accuses the band and one of its bus drivers of violating state water pollution and public nuisance laws. It seeks $70,000 in civil penalities.
According to the lawsuit, on August 8 a bus leased by the band was heading to a downtown hotel where members were staying. As the bus crossed the Kinzie Street Bridge, the driver allegedly emptied the contents of the septic than through the bridge's metal grating into the river below.
More than 100 people on a river tour were showered with the foul-smelling waste. The attorney general's office said no one was seriously injured.

"Talked today about a possible (..gulp) 'Queer Eye For The Straight Guy' appearance. They called and asked me if I would do it. I'm a fan of the show. We may shoot on the 28th of Sept. And, while the PR people at most places prefer not to 'leak' any info until they're ready, I don't play like that. As soon as I make up my mind about something, I will let you all know.
And in a really scary post the tongue writes:
"A Gene Simmons (sans makeup) action figure may be coming your way soon." - Now that's creepy. I wonder does it come with a couple wigs?

LOS ANGELES - Comedian Rodney Dangerfield was hospitalized Tuesday for heart valve replacement surgery.
Dangerfield, 82, underwent brain surgery last year to reduce his chances of having a stroke during the heart operation.
Asked how long he would remain in the hospital after Wednesday's operation, he said: "If things go right, I'll be there about a week, and if things don't go right, I'll be there about an hour and a half."
The comic and actor, best known for his self-mocking line, "I don't get no respect," recently released his autobiography, "It's Not Easy Being Me: A Lifetime of No Respect but Plenty of Sex and Drugs."
Dangerfield's films include Caddyshack (1980), Easy Money (1983), Back to School (1986), Ladybugs (1992), Natural Born Killers (1994), Meet Wally Sparks (1997), and Little Nicky (2000), among others
He is set to guest star on the sitcom "Still Standing" this fall and will be heard as himself in the animated comedy "The Family Guy."
A television movie based on his autobiography is also planned.

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that "The Munsters" are headed to the big screen, thanks mostly to the Wayans brothers.
Keenen Ivory, Marlon and Shawn Wayans have all struck a deal with Universal Pictures to take the classic 1960's television show about a family of friendly monsters who never quite get why people react in terror to them and give it a modern makeover that "will stay true to the original characters, but will place them in a contemporary setting".
The deal means the three Wayanses will write the screenplay as well as produce along with Rick Alvarez through Wayans Bros. Prods. There is a possibility that Keenen Ivory Wayans would direct, though no deal is in the works without a finished script.
WHY I SCREAM WHY! Please Hollywood LEAVE THE CLASSICS ALONE! And again further proof that there is a horrible lack of creative writers out there- AZ

THE NEW YORK DOLLS are scheduled to release a new live album, entitled "Pre-Crash Condition", in September, according to Gigwise.com. Aurora Snow went on the Howard Stern Show this morning and she just fucking killed them. The King of all Media was polite and demure throughout the whole show, inviting her to do the tickle chair for him and accepting it like a man when she declined.
Aurora Snow wore sexy street clothes instead the bikini they offered and stood her ground that she was not the product of a faulty childhood or an absentee father, but that lack of scholarships to white, skinny girls brought her into the business, and that she loves what she does. She managed to plug both Sin City and her website, www.aurorasnowxxx.com, a number of times.
When it was all done, Artie came out with Gary and thanked her for being on the show, inviting her back whenever she wants to return. They loved her.

As summer temperatures cool off, three young bands are looking to keep things hot. The Von Bondies, Auf Der Maur, and The Donnas will all be touring the U.S. this fall, in various combinations.
The fun starts with a Von Bondies / Auf Der Maur co-headliner, running across the Midwest and East Coast from September 17 through October 1. Then The Von Bondies hook up with The Donnas for the month of November, with stops in theatres across the country.
The Von Bondies had a tumultuous start to the year, thanks to frontman Jason Stollsteimer's much-publicized fight with The White Stripes' Jack White. But as they say, any publicity is good publicity, and the band launched an ambitious spring tour upon the release of its major-label debut, Pawn Shoppe Heart.
Auf Der Maur is currently finishing up its stint with The Cure on the Curiosa festival tour. The band - the solo project of Melissa Auf Der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins) - released its debut album in May.
The Donnas recently finished recording their follow-up to 2002's Spend The Night. They announced in August that the record is being mixed, but gave no projected release date.

Neither punk nor rockabilly has been the same since that fateful day when a fella soon to be known as Lux Interior picked up the future Poison Ivy Rorscach on the side of an Ohio road.
Almost 30 years later, the duo and errant cast of musicians known as The Cramps are still bringing their vinyl-and-spikes live show to the masses, backing a release of rarities and demos called How To Make A Monster.
The Cramps kick off their latest trek September 22 at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Ariz. Twenty-nine dates are penciled in so far, including gigs in Houston, Atlanta, Nashville, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, Denver and Las Vegas, before winding down in Anaheim, Calif., November 6.
The Cramps have come a long way from Akron, Ohio - first settling in the grimy punk palaces of New York City like CBGB and Max's Kansas City, and eventually winding up on then-fledgling I.R.S. Records label.
There, they issued a string of cult hits like Songs The Lord Taught Us and Gravest Hits. As budding punk stars were wont to do in those days, they also battled it out with their record label -- in The Cramps' case, no less a figure than Miles Copeland.
Those kind of battles aren't generally meant to be won, though, and the ensuing legal tangles kept the band from recording for two years, just as they were hitting their stride. Despite that setback and a revolving door of guitarists and bass players, TheCramps soldiered on, eventually signing with Enigma records in 1990 and most recently with Epitaph.

RICH$TORY Is Written: Chicago band I LOVE RICH Release third album this falland set to embark on "Make Out City Tour"
"Worlds Sexiest band or transvestite junkies the from Mars?"
Though their credentials include having gone through more guitarist than KISS and more drummers than Spinal Tap, and recorded "The Greatest Rocks N Roll Album Of All Time", the true legacy of Rich is now about to begin with the release of "The Year Of The Rich", on Sonic Wave International. No it's not a story of the Dubya Bush era but more of a testament to the vocalist and self-proclaimed "Worlds Greatest Lover" that the band is named for.
Armed with new song titles such as. “If Loving Me is Wrong” (You Don't Wanna' be Right") and "Make Out City", "The Year Of The Rich" is poised to be the biggest return to glam rock since The Darkness, only ILR does it better, has done it longer and makes it a lot more fun than the European platinum selling band.
Formed in 1994 by vocalist/bassist Rich Madden and drummer extraordinaire Drew Blood, I Love Rich immediately took to the fans with a sound that was a unique blend of The Ramones, KISS and early 80's Hanoi Rocks. With songs that were catchy as well at kitschy, and an energetic stage show that is more 80's cock-rock than pop punk, ILR gathered a fan base that still follows them today and continues to grow. In their 10 - year career, the bands music has been raved by press the world over. The band has gone on to open numerous shows for such notable national acts the likes of Nashville Pussy, Night Ranger, Pretty Boy Floyd, Electric Frankenstein, The Quadrajets, The Queers, Cheetah Chrome, Boris the Sprinkler, Sloppy Seonds, The Meatmen, The Murder Junkies, Antiseen and many others
"The Year Of The Rich", is the much anticipated follow up to 2001's "The Greatest Rocks N Roll Album Of All Time" which followed the bands 1996's live debut "Live, Wet, Drippin' With Sweat", a 12 song collection supposedly recorded live in Cambodia and rumored to be the biggest selling cassette in that country. Upon the release of the album the first leg of the 2 year long "Make Out City Tour" will begin.
In the words of lead singer Rich , "We want to bring our rock everywhere it's wanted and quite frankly; probably to a few places that don't want it".
For tour dates and complete band biography photos and more see the I LOVE RICH website at www.iloverich.net

The new DORO single, "Let Love Rain On Me", entered the official German Media Control single chart at position No. 65, making it the most successfull DORO single ever and her first single in the German charts since 1993.
As previously reported, the "Let Love Rain On Me" EP, released in Europe by AFM Records, hosts a crop of exclusive tracks of interest to collectors. A regular radio version of the title track (mp3 sample) is enhanced by versions sung in both Spanish ("Llueva En Mi Tu Amor") and French ("Pluie D`Amour") alongside a cover version of JUDAS PRIEST's "Breaking The Law", an exclusive acoustic version of "Rare Diamond" and the video for "Unholy Love".
In addition, two live Doro tracks, "All We Are" and WARLOCK's "Burning The Witches" are featured on the Mausoleum Records' "Twentieth Anniversary Concert" album, a split album shared with recently reformed bands OSTROGOTH and KILLER also released in August. The songs were recorded as part of the Belgian label's commemorative gig at the Vosselaar Biebob venue in May of 2002.

People with as many personal issues as Peter Parker tend to avoid the holidays at all cost.
Still, his web-slinging alter-ego is set to swing into video stores Nov. 30 with the DVD and VHS releases of Spider-Man 2, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment announced Friday.
Lest you missed the timing of Spidey's home-video debut, its studio didn't, noting that, yes, the superhero will be "arriving just in time for the holidays."
Spider-Man 2, starring Tobey Maguire as the sweaty-palmed superhero, will be the fourth and last of the year's box-office blockbusters to make its DVD debut.
Spider-Man 2, still in the box-office top 10 as of last weekend, has taken in $362.8 million--and counting.
If Peter Parker spent most of Spider-Man 2 battling low self-esteem, his movie bosses at Sony's Columbia TriStar suffer no similar affliction.
The studio is planning a bold invasion of store shelves, with a two-disc Spidey 2 DVD, a Spidey 2 gift set with all sorts of supplemental fanboy material (comic books, artwork, etc.), a Superbit DVD version of Spidey 2 for audio- and videophiles, and a DVD two-pack containing both Spidey 2 and 2002's Spider-Man.
The two-disc Spidey 2 DVD will keep couch potatoes planted on the sofa with more than 10 hours of extras, including a 12-part doc on the making of the Doc Ock-graced movie. Maguire and director Sam Raimi help supply a commentary track to the main feature.
Spidey 2 will have to demonstrate super strength to make its mark on DVD. In addition to competing against the big three (Shrek 2, Passion of the Christ, Harry Potter) for the dollars of holiday shoppers, it will go up against the biggest of them all, Finding Nemo.
The Disney-Pixar fish tale is DVD's reigning sales champ, with some 22 million units sold.
Nothing for Pete to worry about. Really

GUITARIST, RIGGS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM OCTOBER 26
FEATURES MIKE & JOHN TEMPESTA (Powerman5000 & Zombie) AMONG OTHERS
CD FEATURES U-MIX IT TECHNOLOGY
ALLOWS INTERACTIVE SONG REMIX
August 18, 2004 • New York City - While playing guitar with Rob Zombie for
six years, notorious rocker Riggs made a name for himself that he is now
claiming as his own. As Scum of the Earth, featuring Riggs and friends, including Powerman 5000 guitarist Mike Tempesta, Mike's brother and Zombie drummer John Tempesta, SOAD drummer John Dolmayan, and old friends, bassist Clay Campbell and drummer Seven, they will release "Blah… Blah… Blah…Love Songs for the New Millennium," October 26 on Eclipse Records.
The album was written by Riggs with collaborative help from his friends and recorded at Belt of Orion Studios in Los Angeles. Riggs produced the record, which was mixed by Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie, A Perfect Circle) & Brandon Belski (Velvet Revolver, Staind, Static-X).
The sounds of Scum are immediately familiar, yet not derivative. Riggs, the
architect of Zombie’s high-tech guitar grind has reformatted his signature tone
for a new era, and achieved a vibrant vibe that is simultaneously angry,
sleazy and blunt as a battering ram smashing through a trailer park home. His
scathing vocal technique is as spine chilling as it is powerful. “I didn’t really
have a band or anything in the beginning,” Riggs says. “I just had all these
songs, and I picked the best ones and then asked some people to help me out.
It’s amazing how well everything came together. Mike Tempesta even ended up
contributing 2 tracks of his own.”
“Get Your Dead On” and “Altargirl 13” the two songs written by Tempesta
with Riggs, offer a turbo blast of writhing wah-wah guitars, and skittering beats
compliments of his brother and Rob Zombie drummer John Tempesta. This is the first time the two have performed on a record together.
"Get Your Dead On," the first single, will also feature UmixIt™ interactive
technology, which will allow the listener to isolate, violate and remix on
their computer, up to 16 audio tracks of the song by emphasizing, cutting back or removing any instrument or vocal. "Blah…" is the first disc ever to be
released featuring this new technology. "We are always looking for ways to offer music lovers something that lets them be engaged interactively with their music," says Eclipse label President Chris Poland. "We believe that empowering the consumer and inviting interaction is the way of the future for record labels." UmixIt™, based in New York and formed in 2003, is a joint venture between Enterprise Golden Hawk and Webster Hall Records.
Of course, not all of Blah… Blah… Blah… is raw, fist-in-your-face metal.
“Little Spider” is an ominous acoustic-based song with orchestral percussion by
SOAD drummer John Dolmayan. “Pornstar Champion,” a track originally recorded as a musical score for the "Any Given Sunday” soundtrack, is a groove-heavy mix of rhythms, hard rock riffs and samples from Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Written by Riggs and producer Michael Beinhorn (Korn, Chili Peppers), it was produced by Beinhorn & Irv Gotti.
Scum of the Earth have crafted a rhythmic engine that’s immediate and
propulsive. The moniker? Riggs always thought it was a cool name. He used it to name his publishing company years ago. He tattooed it across his stomach. They used it to name a Rob Zombie song. He likes Scum. "Its really cool when you have the opportunity to see things come full circle," concludes the infamous
guitarist.

Brooklyn, NY-based trio ZO2, who recently came off a support slot on the KISS/POISON "Rock the Nation" U.S. tour, are rumored to be negotiating a deal with Atlantic Records. The band, who are currently promoting their debut album, "Tuesdays & Thursdays", released independently on their own Splivey Cool Entertainment Inc. label, are also said to be in talks to participate in the upcoming SCORPIONS/TESLA tour.
ZO2 features brothers Paulie Z and David Z (vocals, bass guitar) and Joey Cassata (drums). David has served as the longtime bass guitarist for the East Coast touring company of the holiday favorite TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and Joey was an understudy with the BLUE MAN GROUP's Las Vegas-based company.

PEARL JAM's Eddie Vedder, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS members Flea and John Frusciante, HENRY ROLLINS and RANCID's Tim Armstrong are among the artists slated to perform as part of the RAMONES' 30th anniversary party September 12 at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood, CA, according to Billboard.com. THE RAMONES DVD "Raw", is due September 28 via Image Entertainment.

RAMMSTEIN's upcoming performance in Helsinki, Finland, scheduled for November 24 at the Hartwall Arena, sold out in approximately 30 minutes after tickets went on sale Tuesday morning (August 17). 12,000 tickets were sold to the concert, which will mark the group's first headlining performance in the city in support of their upcoming CD, "Reise Reise".
"Reise Reise" is scheduled for release on November 2 through Universal Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Mutter" was recorded in Spain and Germany. Production duties on the CD were handled by Jacob Hellner, who worked with the group on "Mutter".
RAMMSTEIN's latest single, "Mein Teil", entered the German singles chart at position No. 2. The band are currently preparing to shoot a video for the album's second single, "Amerika", with direcor Jörn Heitmann, who has previously worked with RAMMSTEIN on the videos for "Sonne" and "Ich Will".

With Chicago filming near wrapped, much of the cast has been back in the UK the last few days for a few more weeks. POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD:
"The sequences that they have been shooting in London have been mostly Arkham Asylum scenes for which they are using the awesomely creepy and immense Kings Cross St Pancras Hospital in London. It's a gothic structure and personally if I was ill and was taken there I'd be pretty sure I wouldn't be getting out alive - seriously creepy.
From a guidebook: 'Note the series of dragons - eagle clawed, crocodile tailed, beaked, in pairs, with each pair different. Also small hanging-down bat-like gargoyles.' - so not much set docoration needed there then! The guidebook doesn't mention that it is also one of the seediest and dangerous parts of London, and is teeming with hookers and drug addicts - lets just say that it has the right atmosphere!
Anyway, they have just shot the scene where Crane transforms into 'The Scarecrow' and apparently it does involve the traditional sack mask! It's not a 'costume' kind of event in the same way that other super heros have made or obtained theirs (thinking Spiderman or Catwoman from Batman Returns), this is linked into the character's madness and as it's happening it's not supposed to register that this is the 'getting the costume' moment of the film, it's meant to be a "purely terrifying moment".
The shot has Crane (Cillian Murphy) tied up and captured with a sack over his head and exposed to the gas accidentally, as he stuggles and screams he frees his arms and in obvious frenzy he tears away at the sack revealing a slit for the mouth and a ripped hole for the eye. A 'concerned criminal' (my mate wouldn't reveal too much on plot) is scared and enquires "Dr Crane?", we get an extreme close up into the eyehole of the sack, darkness, and then the eye opens and a unfamiliar voice whispers "Scarecrow". Concerned criminal is murdered offscreen - apparently we keep on the eye throughout. Sounds pretty cool and my mate is over the moon at how this scene looks.
One other point she let slip, the cinematographer (Wally Pfister) has brought in an antique 1927 russian camera from his own private collection this week for the Arkham shoots! He says it gives a nice 'feel'!

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that New Line Cinema is in talks with director-producer Sam Raimi for Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, a franchise-melding movie that would throw together the hero from Raimi's Evil Dead films with villains from A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. Such a project has been the subject of rumors since Freddy vs. Jason hit movie theaters in August 2003.
In the proposed sequel, Nightmare's Freddy Krueger and Friday's Jason Voorhees would go up against Ash, the cynical antihero survivor of Raimi's Evil Dead films. Bruce Campbell played the character in the trilogy and would play him again if the deal were to close, the trade paper reported.
Raimi would not direct, but he holds rights to the Evil Dead franchise. Freddy vs. Jason grossed more than $74 million, so even if a deal with Raimi can't be reached, New Line is determined to find a way to extend the franchise by introducing a new character or just pitting Freddy and Jason against each other one more time, the trade paper reported.

From www.AdultFyi.com
story by Gene Ross
New York. Jeezus. Everyone's got a rape story and Jenna Jameson, flashing stones on her fingers worth a $100,000 and more, was on Howard Stern today telling hers when she lived in Montana. Jameson was on the show promoting her book How to Make Love Like a Porn Star [Reagan Books], not so much how to get manhandled like one, however.
Stern complimented jameson for "holding up" and still being the best-looking porn star on the planet. "The Babe Ruth of porn is here." Stern said he had been waxing poetic anout her film, The Masseuse. Stern is ranking that right up there with The Godfather. "You're a good actress in it. It's a porno but you're good." Stern said there was just enough story to it and has been watching it on www.vividvideo.com. Jameson said the movie was shot six months ago. "I got to the point where I wanted to make a movie that is different than anything else that's been done," she said. [Barring the fact that Vivid had at least three sequels in the Nineties to the same titled movie].
Jameson credited Paul Thomas. "I guess he starred off Broadway, Jesus Christ Superstar so he's a really goo actor." Stern said what he liked about Jameson's character is that she plays a masseuse who's reluctant to use her hand. "Somebody told me the weird dude in it is your husband [Jay Grdina]." Jameson agreed about the weirdness but said he was acting. Stern [apparently not recognizing Grdina whom he rattled and insulted on air a couple of years ago] asked if they were still married. Jameson said they've been married a year.
"In porno years that's seven," Stern quipped. Jameson said Grdina plays a Rainman-type character in the film. "he's a stalker." Stern said he plays a creepy guy who comes to Jenna for a massage. "And Jenna agrees to use her hand on him- first she shaves him." Jameson said that part was weird. Stern said the whole bit was erotic for him because Jameson is playing the part of a woman who's resisting. Jameson said they tried really hard with the movie and Stern admitted that he'd watch it with his girlfriend. "That's what we were aiming at," said Jameson. According to Stern his girlfriend Beth thinks that porn is gross including the guys. "I think she could tolerate this."
Stern brought up the bondage scenario and the fact that Jameson goes into the bathroom with Savanna Samson to do a B&D scene. Jameson explained that Samson plays her wife in the movie. Stern said he didn't get to that part yet but notes that Samson is tied up while Jameson is doing stuff to her. "Savanna's tied up- she almost looks like sausage in a tight package- they're squeezing her." Jameson said it took a long time to tie Samson up like that. "She was really uncomfortable because she couldn't move." Jameson claims they broke boundaries with that movie.
"You're usually not allowed to have sex with someone who's tied up." Stern said he's heard that if someone is tied up, there can't be penetration. Jameson said the whole thing was given a green light by company lawyers. "Everything was fine. They gave us the go-ahead." Stern said he was so engrossed by the movie that he didn't pleasure himself to it. Artie Lange also pointed out that there's a billboard on Times Square advertising the movie. "It's like a mainstream film. Jenna is ten feet high."
Stern said when he went to the Vivid website and read the description of the film, he wanted to see that. Stern said the masseuse fantasy gets him going that for once he'd like to get a happy ending from one. "Just give me that one goddamn time in my life." Stern said he once had the opportunity while on vacation but "pussied" out."The masseuse says to me- I get in the room- she darkens the room- she says lay down on the table naked. Just like that." Stern said he was so nervous he couldn't get excited because his penis in its natural state looks like a belly button. Artie suggested that he could have taken the attention away from his penis by taking a shit on the massage table. "It's all misdirection."
Getting back to Jameson's book, Stern said he's mentioned in it. Reading from the book, Stern relates how Jameson, her first time, tried for six months to get on the Stern Show, but that she was not a big fan. Jameson also writes in her book that she was scared shitless of Stern by his reputation for shredding people on the air. According to Jameson, when she finally got booked, she "researched" what she would say to him. Stern asked what she meant by researching. Jameson explained that she went over her "power speeches".
"It's all about woman power," Jameson explained. "Not letting anyone take advantage of you. It didn't really work out." Stern figured Jameson was just coming on air to be sexy and sell tapes. Jameson said it was more of her idea to impress Stern than anything else.
Making note of her jewelry, Stern asked Jameson where she got it. Jameson said her husband gave it to her. "Where's he getting that kind of scratch?" Stern wondered, suspecting that Grdina was spending Jameson's money. Jameson said he does well in his own right. Artie's suspicion was that Grdina runs a coke cartel. Stern believed that was a possibility. Robin suspected it was a phone sex ring. Jameson explained that Grdina was in the phone business.
Though Jameson stated her rings were insured, Stern took it to be a gaudy display of wealth that she was showing off. One of the rings was 13 carats. Jameson's wedding ring is 9 1/2 carats. Given the extent of her jewelry, Stern was more inclined to give Jameson's marriage at least three years. "I didn't realize the amount of bling that was involved."
Again reading from her book, Stern went over a passage in which Jameson said that her first interview with Stern triggered an earlier incident that she had blocked out of her mind. Jameson said she didn't want to talk about it. During her sophomore year in high school, Jameson was apparently gang raped by a group of football players after they knocked her out with a rock in a field in Montana. "They beat you over the head with a rock?" Stern asked incredulously. Stern asked Jameson if she brought them up on charges. She said no. According to Jameson, they weren't friends. "They went to a different school than I did." Answering the question, Jameson said she was the hot chick in high school. "In Montana, of course, I was going to be hot," she stated.
Stern wondered if the attitude of the players was that Jameson was a stuck up bitch and they were going to teach her a lesson. Jameson didn't know if that was the case or not. "I asked for a ride home from the football game and it happened. They just started going down a dirt road. That's not the way to my house. It happened." According to Jameson, she was knocked out cold. "It was horrible. It was really bad." Jameson said they then left her there.
"I woke up- it was a dirt road and I walked home. It was 2 1/2 miles home." Stern asked her why she protected her rapists by not telling on them. Jameson said she didn't want her father, a cop, to kill them. Stern said he's heard that rationale from 50 different women who've had similar experiences. Jameson said, if left to his devices, her father would have gone after them and killed them. Jameson said, from writing her book, she's been able to come to terms with the incident.

Jim Van Bebber Feature 35mm 93:00 2003 Midwest Premiere
The Chicago Underground Film Festival is pleased to present Jim Van Bebber's THE MANSON FAMILY, one of the most talked about and eagerly anticipated
underground films of the last decade.
Charles Manson and his Family dealt the final deathblow to the peace and love of the 1960's. Van Bebber's epic independent feature paints the most accurate and uncompromising picture of the most infamous cult of all time and the crimes that shook the world.
Conceived in the early 90's as a straightforward docudrama, the film's scope expanded over the years to become a multi-layered final word on the tragic events of August 9th & 10th 1969 as well as the impact those events continue to have on popular culture.
The film combines detailed recreations of the Family members lives, chronicling of the events on the Spahn Ranch that led to the Tate-LaBianca killings and contemporary jailhouse interviews with The Family as well as a chilling look at a group of Manson-obsessed, nihilistic punk teenagers. Connecting these narrative strands is a tabloid television journalist producing a special focusing on The Family.
Stylistically, The Manson Family fuses classic grindhouse horror with an experimentalism rooted in the underground referencing the transcendent death trip of the Cinema of Transgression to Kenneth Anger's hallucinogenic occultism.
The production of THE MANSON FAMILY has become the stuff of legend. Starting it's life as CHARLIE'S FAMILY, rumors circulated about Van Bebber's means of funding his epic; rumors ranging from flipping burgers at a Wendy's to armed robbery. Fueled by a handful of work-in-progress screenings (including an unadvertised midnight preview which stunned a standing room only crowd at the 1997 Chicago Underground Film Festival), the screenplay has been published (Creation Books, London) and the soundtrack CD released (Metropolis) but the film seemed cursed to never be completed. Finally, thanks to an angel deal with Blue Underground UK, completion money was secured and the finished version premiered in England in late 2003. Van Bebber refused to compromise his ultimate portrait of the American nightmare. Be warned, once seen this film will not be forgotten.
"A soul shredding, intense firestorm of cinema verite'; a scalding and courageous debunking of the Manson mythos and a horrifying epiphany of the highest order...Welcome to the belly of the beast". - Chas Balun, Deep Red

Will include previously deleted scenes.

On Oct. 5, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release the DVD version of the blockbuster anti-Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11."
Arriving just weeks before Election Day, filmmaker Michael Moore's tirade will unleash a last offensive on the Republican Party by including previously deleted scenes.
The DVD, which sells for $28.95, will also feature new footage of Condoleeza Rice's testimony before the 9/11 Commission and of a press conference held by President Bush after he and Vice President Cheney testified before commission members at the White House.
"We are looking to make this as successful on DVD as it has been in the theaters," says Tracey Garvin, vice president of marketing at Columbia TriStar. The film, still in theaters, has grossed more than $115 million since its release in June and broke the box-office record for a regular-format documentary.
Moore's last film, the Academy Award-winning "Bowling for Columbine," pulled in $12 million on home video.
"October is a great time to release the film because it is prior to ... the election," says Garvin. Reluctant to comment on the influence the DVD might have on indecisive voters in those vital weeks before ballots are cast, Garvin adds, "We are the distributors. We can't speak to the political aspects of the film."
However, the Republican National Committee sure can, and it is firing back with a filmic partisan plea of its own.
During the Democratic Convention in Boston, the GOP premiered a documentary called "Kerry on Iraq." The 12-minute, 15-second film explores the Democratic candidate's views on the war.
"Maybe they will consider distributing 'Kerry on Iraq' with 'Fahrenheit 9/11,'" says Heather Layman, spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, noting that over 5 million people have viewed the free film at www.kerryoniraq.com.
"That way, people can see John Kerry's ever-changing views on Iraq for themselves."

Porn Valley- So much for the adult industry sucking up to state assemblyman Paul Koretz at Night of the Stars. After being named an honorary chamber of the event, Koretz did the honorable thing, apparently, by calling for mandatory condom use in the adult industry.
In either or language, Koretz indicates that if the industry doesn't comply with what he terms a "sensible request," it would open the door for government mandates further down the line. Koretz is of the belief that the only means to effectively minimize the transmission of HIV and STD's is through the appropriate use of condoms "in every film production, photo shoot or Internet performance featuring sexual intercourse."
Koretz, this past June, chaired a hearing in Van Nuys that brought leaders from the adult industry together with state health reps to discuss safety in the adult film business. Based on input from that hearing, among Koretz's proposals would be a ban on ejaculating into a female body cavity, including the mouth, rectum or vagina and the obligatory use of a diaphragm for vaginal intercourse.
Also in the proposals would be twice monthly HIV testing using PCR DNA. There would also be monthly testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis. Koretz is also advocating a condom for non-oral intercourse after initial penetration.
"This practice, often called 'dipping,' states Koretz, "involves the momentary filming of initial penetration without a condom and before the discharge of pre-ejaculate, followed by the hidden use of a condom for the remainder of the scene. This practice may reduce the risk of HIV infection, but is only a less desirable minimum of protection for performers. No performer should ever be asked to perform unprotected non-oral intercourse for any duration of time, but this compromise may empower performers to reduce their risk and still accommodate a producer’s request for unprotected sex, however irresponsible it may be."

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND-- Bloody hell. Mung bean loving, tofu caressing, non-animal eating, left wing, techno millionaire baldy Moby has confessed to going on a cocaine binge with a lap dancer. Nice one.
Moby made the admission at New York's China Club which hosts story telling nights where punters are encouraged to entertain each other by relating exciting stories or events.
He explained that six months ago he went to a 'gentleman's club' (*cough*) in Times Square, New York, where a lap dancer offered to dance for him. According to the New York Daily News reported, the star refused, but gave her $400 "just to talk" (*splutter*). The paper quotes Moby saying,
"She gave me a bag of cocaine. I'm 38, but I'd never done coke before." Before explaining, "I didn't know you were supposed to share."
When Moby then explained that he took all the cocaine himself, something that greatly irritated the stripper, who got "very aggressive" when she realised he had hoovered up all her gear. In fact Moby had to buy her a $400 bottle of champagne to try to placate her.
Moby then had an unfortunate emergency toilet incident which resulted in him soiling his "sleazy Versace suit", before he went home. Once there he confessed to calling up a former girlfriend who he claims offered to come over and keep the sleepless musician company.
And just in case you thought the mental image you have right now couldn't get any more disturbing, Moby confessed that they then "made love all night." (*shudder*).

The Miller Brewing Co. has tapped the keg of controversy with a promotion designed to commemorate the "50th Anniversary of Rock and Roll." Miller, working with cover images from Rolling Stone magazine, chose rock musicians to be featured on cans of Miller Beer. Icons like Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson made the cut — but questions about the selection process arose when no black artists did.
"Our objective going into the promotion was to get cans that were as representative as possible of the diversity of rock and roll," said Miller spokesman Scott Bussen. "Obviously, we hope people understand our intentions were right. Unfortunately, you have to deal with the real world when putting together a program like this."
The eight-can series, in stores since May, features images of Presley and Nelson, along with Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Blondie, Alice Cooper and two images of guitars. According to Bussen, the reason for the exclusion of black artists — like Chuck Berry, James Brown and Little Richard — had everything to do with licensing.
"The people at Rolling Stone had to get permission from artists or their estates," he said. "That was really a process. We looked to them for the artists we could get, and they came back to us with a list that was pretty limited."
Gary Armstrong, chief marketing officer for Wenner Media, which publishes Rolling Stone, agreed.
"Editorially, we acknowledge the importance of a lot of these musicians in our '50 Years of Rock: Immortals' issue," he said. "On the marketing side, anything we do with these covers, we need the artist's permission. Jimi Hendrix's estate declined participation. Some artists wanted fees, and we weren't paying people to participate. Some had rehab issues, and they didn't want to align with an alcohol product."
The beer cans are part of a Summer of Music promotion by Miller, Rolling Stone, Napster Music and Fender guitars, all culminating with a two-night concert at New York's Roseland Ballroom on September 17 and 18. Bussen noted that "The concert in New York, we had a little more control over. We've got Bo Diddley and James Brown, and also Lenny Kravitz and Wyclef Jean. It's the diversity that we believe represents rock and roll's history over the past five decades."
A statement from Miller read, "We're strong supporters of diversity in all our marketing efforts, therefore we regret any inference of the lack of African-American representation on the commemorative cans as being insensitive to diversity.
"Our original wish list included many legends — African-American and others — but regrettably, we were unable to secure permissions. Obviously, African-Americans have played a huge role in the development of rock and roll and we just blew it.
"Our support for diversity is ongoing, as evidenced by the influential artists who are set to appear at our special two-day concert that wraps up this promotion, featuring artists such as James Brown, Bo Diddley, Alice Cooper, Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, the Strokes and Velvet Revolver, among others."

In what looks like compensation for the San Diego screw up, Wizard Universe reports that screenwriter David Goyer, director Chris Nolan and DC's publisher Paul Levitz revealed exclusive never before seen footage of the new upcoming "Batman" flick this past weekend at this past weekend's Chicago WizardWorld convention. The report includes a breakdown of what was shown:
"The crowd were treated to not only breathtaking glimpses of Batman training in the Himalayan mountains, but a rare look at one of the villains of the movie, the Scarecrow. Also seen was the Batmobile, in action for the first time, as Christian Bale told Morgan Freeman (after trying out a different colored version of the automobile) "Does it come in black?"
The scene following had the ultra-sleak Batmobile lumbering through a dark alleyway on its way to a crime scene presumably. Goyer and Nolan added the design for the Batmobile was chosen not because of what it looked like, but for what it could do. Nolan was always amazed that Batman had this vehicle but never really utilized it in any film, so a thrilling car chase scene is something fans can look forward to.
The montage included a seen of him suiting up in gear and terrorizing thugs on a heist. Lights exploded throughout the warehouse and the climax of the piece was when one of the crooks screamed, "Where are you??." Batman appeared behind him, upside down and with a chilling voice, "Right here!" before lifting him off the ground and into the ceiling".

TO LAUNCH HER BOOK, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA -- Accompanied by a flock of positive reviews, adult entertainment legend Jenna Jameson sets off this week on a nationwide book tour to help launch How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale, her sizzling memoirs distributed by HarperCollins.
Her multi-city tour starts with an appearance in New York City Tuesday morning August 17th. . First up on the roster is The Howard Stern Show (8:39 an ET) followed by multiple interviews and an in store signing at Virgin Mega Store in Times Square at 7 pm. Her 12-day whirlwind tour ends with a final wrap party on August 28th at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, where Jenna’s remarkable career in entertainment began when she was still a teenager.
Meanwhile Rolling Stone magazine readers and VH1 viewers (Monday August 16, 10 pm) are getting up-close and personal insights into Jenna through penetrating profiles released this week. The Rolling Stone article by Vanessa Grigoriadis notes that “Indeed, "Jenna Jameson" is a kind of cultural shorthand for ‘porn star,’ tossed off casually in HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and even romantically linked to Britney Spears' in one tabloid-sparked rumor, something they both deny (‘I wish,’ Jameson says).” Few will resist reading the book after Grigoriadis encapsulates it with this titillating sentence: It “includes revelations ranging from her being raped in Montana as a teenager, to a harrowing account of her addiction to methamphetamine and later Vicodin, to a fling with Marilyn Manson and the size of Howard Stern's member (surprisingly large, though she never spied it unsheathed).”
Following the Stern show, Jenna’s tentative full schedule includes an appearance on Tuesday August 17th on the WP 11 Morning News show, taping an interview for "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch", which will air the following weekend on CNBC, a segment on Extra! that airs Tuesday evening (at 6 pm ET), and a book signing at the Virgin MegaStore in Times Square (7 pm ET). She’ll also squeeze in phone and in-person interviews with newspapers ranging from the Lexington (KY) Herald Leader to the London Sunday Telegraph.
She stays in New York on Wednesday August 18th, where her schedule is equally hectic, including a nationwide satellite radio tour from the studios of MTV, interviews on both Fox News Channel for “Fox Magazine and CNN for “Anderson Cooper 360” (which will air at 7 pm). The day ends with the book signing (10 pm) and party at Avalon (6th Avenue and 20th Street).
On Thursday August 19th Jenna does another satellite radio tour that will include “The Fisher and Seth Show” on WSUN-FM, Tampa, “The Kidd Chris Show,” on KSRX-FM, San Antonio, “The John London Not Just Sports Show" on KNBR, San Francisco and Brett Haber in the Morning on WWZZ-FM, Washington, DC. Jenna is scheduled to fly to Miami for a book signing on Thursday evening August 19th at Virgin MegaStore (In the Shops @ Sunset Place; 7 pm) and for broadcast interviews on Friday August 20th that will include the "Paul & Young Ron Morning Show" on WBGG-FM BIG 105.9.
Later on Friday Jenna flies to Cleveland for a book signing at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in suburban Lyndhurst (7 pm, 24519 Cedar Road), and on Saturday August 21st she heads to Lexington, Kentucky for another signing at 7 pm at Joseph-Beth Booksellers (161 Lexington Green Circle).
Jenna then heads for Chicago, where she will appear on Monday on local radio and television shows ("Fox News in the Morning on WFLD-TV and "Mancow's Morning Madhouse" on WKQX-FM) before a noon signing at Books-A-Million (144 S. Clark Street.).
On Tuesday Jenna will be in San Francisco for media appearances and ("Mornings on 2" on KTVU-TV (FOX), "John London Not Just Sports Show” on KNBR-AM, and "The Pete Wilson Show” on KGO-AM) and a book signing at Virgin MegaStore (2 Stockton Street, 7 pm).
Jenna will be in Los Angeles Wednesday and Thursday for another round of appearances ("Lovelines" on KROCK-FM on Wednesday night at 10 pm, and “Jamie and Danny" KIIS-AM/FM " on Thursday) and a signing at 7 pm Thursday at Book Soup (8818 Sunset Blvd.). She heads finally for Las Vegas for media appearances and a book signing at Virgin MegaStore (Caesar's Palace Forum Shops, 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. So. - M1) and a private wrap up party at the Hard Rock Café on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, reviews of the book have been positive, with a solid commentary from publishing trade industry bible Publisher’s Weekly and an upbeat review in Entertainment Weekly, which called the book “fascinating.” The book will be available in bookstores nationwide and on her website, www.clubjenna.com.

Trash Queen Manson
GARBAGE frontwoman Shirley Manson and the DISTILLERS' Brody Dalle contributed vocals to an as-yet-untitled cut earmarked for QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's in-progress new studio album, according to Billboard.com. Dalle is the girlfriend of QOTSA leader Josh Homme.
"It was so much fun," Manson wrote on GARBAGE's official web site. "[Dalle] has a crazy voice. She can really sing and what's even cooler about her is that she has no fucking idea just how good she is."
Manson was similarly enthused about the progress of the QOTSA album. "It's great," she said. "Really REALLY great. You'll love it. And how Josh Homme is not yet a household name is quite beyond me."
As previously reported, QOTSA were previously joined in the studio by ZZ TOP guitarist Billy F. Gibbons. The album will be the group's first since the departure of bassist Nick Oliveri. ELEVEN's Alain Johannes is believed to be playing bass during the sessions.

From ROLLING STONE
--VANESSA GRIGORIADIS, Rolling Stone
Arizona- Jenna Jameson has no porn in her house. There are no adult videos or DVDs anywhere to be found, not even the kitchen magnets with Jameson's likeness that she sells on her Web site, and certainly not any replicas of "Jenna's Vagina and Ass" made of "ultrarealistic, lifelike" material and on sale for $159.95, with complimentary lube and talcum powder.
What goes on in Jameson's frilly, pillow-laden bed is lovemaking, and while she doesn't rule out toys, it definitely doesn't include a video camera: "Please!" she squeals. "That's the last thing I want to see in there." It's a balmy Sunday afternoon in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jameson, wearing a bright-yellow T-shirt, jeans and fuzzy Birkenstocks, is shuffling back and forth from the kitchen to her veranda, which is where she goes to smoke an endless chain of Marlboro Lights. Now thirty years old, she still has the look of a slutty cheerleader, with a thick blond mane swept into a ponytail that's a little too long, blue eyes a little too feral, her upper lip puckered in a sexy snarl even when she's exhibiting no emotion at all, which is often.
She picks at pasta and veggies as her dogs gather at her feet: a couple of puppies, an English bulldog and Stinky, the teacup Pomeranian she's had as a companion for six years. They're always peeing all over the house, and now there's the sound of lapping at a toilet bowl.
"Ugh," says Jameson. "That disgusts me, because then he comes up and licks me."
That Jameson would have such a reaction to an animal's bodily fluids when she makes her living swapping human ones might seem strange, but here at home, a Mediterranean-style minimansion decorated in the mix of suburban and gothic so often favored by rock stars, she's careful to present herself as a normal girl. In fact, the only clue that you're in the house of a porn star is the home office of Jay Grdina, her affable, quirky and not at all creepy husband of one year, the director of her movies, co-proprietor of her production company and Web site, and her only male onscreen sex partner since 1998 ("He doesn't have problems in that department, but still, thank God for Viagra," says Jameson).
With surgical steel and diamond earrings the shape of long fake nails that come to a very sharp point in either ear, Grdina, 36, huddles over a warren of computer screens, editing a grainy image of his wife in a latex nurse's uniform bent over a gurney carrying his naked body.
"Just putting together a short entry for Sundance," he jokes.
The box covers of Jameson's videos sometimes describe her as the "World's Most Famous Adult Star," and indeed, Jameson's name is perhaps the only one, other than Ron Jeremy's, that people who don't watch porn know. Indeed, "Jenna Jameson" is a kind of cultural shorthand for "porn star," tossed off casually in HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and even romantically linked to Britney Spears' in one tabloid-sparked rumor, something they both deny ("I wish," Jameson says).
Jameson owes a lot of her success to Howard Stern, who booked her constantly in the mid-Nineties and cast her in 1997's Private Parts -- she played the role of Stern's first naked female guest. Since then, she has appeared in ads for Pony and Abercrombie & Fitch, hosted Wild On!, taped a voice-over for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, shown up in videos for Eminem and Korn, and starred in her own E! True Hollywood Story. She has never gone completely mainstream. "I'm so unaffected by the whole friggin' Hollywood scene -- give me the job or shut the fuck up," she says. "I'm not a show pony. I don't want to hang out with you and your friends, and I don't want to leave a message on your answering machine: 'You've reached Scott, he's busy with me right now.' I don't want to play some part where I have to dye my hair, get my boobs reduced and change my name. Do you think people are going to go, 'Oh, that girl Ashley Smith is so cute, what a breakout star'? They'll go, 'Oh, there's Jenna Jameson in a wig and friggin' small titties.' "
This rant is just a hint of the deep anger at the world Jameson explores at length in her new autobiography, How to . . . Make Love Like a Porn Star, which includes revelations ranging from her being gang- raped in Montana as a teenager, to a harrowing account of her addiction to methamphetamine and later Vicodin, to a fling with Tommy Lee and the size of Howard Stern's dick (surprisingly large, though she never spied it unsheathed).
Sex was an outlet for Jameson's pent-up fury at her unfortunate childhood -- her mother, a showgirl, died when she was three; Dad tried but was emotionally distant.
Offscreen, she puts the number of women that she's slept with at 100, and men at 30. "I'm definitely bisexual, and there have been times in my life that I've been so bisexual it's sick," she says. "I love girls. I'll never not look at a girl and think, 'How do you think she tastes?' "
At sixteen, Jameson, who was born in Las Vegas as Jenna Marie Massoli (she chose Jameson because she liked the brand of whiskey), fell in love with the Vegas tattoo artist who did her first tattoos. She says he also did speed with her and encouraged her to start stripping at Crazy Horse Too. She was also raped by a relative of his. A nudie-magazine scout discovered her at the Crazy Horse, but print soon led to soft-core girl-girl films, and then, "Well, one thing led to another," she says. She drew the line at anal sex, which she's never had on camera. "I look at these new girls today, taking on six guys and doing bukkakes, and I think, 'What the hell are they doing?' " says Jameson. "These girls don't know that you have to start slow, baby, and make them pay you more for each thing you do. In my day you hardly had to have sex, let alone two dicks up your ass."
As smart as Jameson was about incrementally selling herself on the way to stardom, since she got there she has been very savvy about what she does and does not need to do. There is relatively little tape of Jameson out there. In more than a decade in the industry, she has shot less than fifty films (which are, of course, relentlessly recut into new DVDs). These days, she makes only one or two movies a year, and they usually feature her in only a couple scenes. "I feel like I've evolved into this different person," says Jameson. "I feel weird doing a sex scene in front of people with my husband. I don't even crave the girl-girl stuff anymore. The fact is, I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to be butt-naked in front of thirty people anymore."
Part of why Jameson doesn't want to do porn anymore is Grdina. She is utterly devoted to him, the way one might be to a puppy love. All over the house are framed collages that she made for him, hotel room keys and feathers glued to a construction board alongside sayings about falling in love cut out from magazines -- silly ones, such as "Boyfriends cop a feel before the elevator door opens," and serious ones, like "It was no accident: You were sent from heaven to take my bad dreams away and let me love again." One doesn't quite fit: "He who angers you conquers you."
"Yeah," says Jameson. "Anger is powerful."
With Grdina around, Jameson has been tamed, for the most part. A lot of Jameson's continued success as a brand can be attributed to Grdina, whose previous enterprises included health clubs in Japan, owning a studio used by porn filmmakers and buying every permutation of phone numbers one could misdial when calling 1-800-CALL-ATT.
Now Jameson is his business, and whether he's looking to guard the love of his life or a valuable asset, he's quite overprotective. He discourages her from answering the door herself and doesn't like her to be home alone; and when she is, he'll send an assistant to play video games in the family room. He wants to gate their neighborhood, for safety, and cameras are strategically placed around the house, with an Internet feed to his office. Jameson also dislikes being recognized, and she finds the gaping Starbucks barista and lascivious gas guy so unendurable that she no longer runs errands. Jameson, in fact, is a very anxious person. She does not like going out in public much these days unless she's promoting something, and in Scottsdale she rarely leaves the house, except to go to a few sushi restaurants; see her horse, which is stabled nearby; and hit one particular tanning salon.
Today, Jameson is even shooting at her house. She's scheduled four photo sets for her Web site, ClubJenna.com, but even the effort of posing solo for Grdina, who is taking the shots, seems to exhaust her. In her walk-in closet, stuffed with brightly colored furs and sequined handbags and bearing a little sign on one vanity that reads queen of everything, she tries to be chipper. Naked under a fur coat, she selects different coordinated bras and panties, lifting a pair of black underwear with rhinestone trim up to the light to see how they're holding up - they got a workout in Briana Loves Jenna and are a little frayed. "Whatever," she says, and lobs them into a small pile of sparkling costumes. "It's not like anyone's going to be watching my fashion sense."
She takes off the fur coat.
"God," she says. "Do I really have to do this?"
Her body is really beautiful. Everything except for her breasts is utterly in proportion, her skin creamy, thighs and ass taut, no evident blemishes or cellulite. She takes a seat on the bathroom sink, spreading her legs wide and showing pink, as Grdina lightens the mood with stories about farting from some chicken they had last night, or pretending he's an invalid using the Clapper, or anything he can think of to make her stop pouting. "Oh, yeah, look at those shoes," says Grdina. "Those are hot, baby. You're going to come home later, and they're going to be a little bit tighter, 'cause I'm going to have had some fun with them." Jameson finally laughs and flicks her tongue against the side of her mouth back and forth.
The shoot moves into the den, and Jameson gets on the floor and arches her naked back against the leg of a massive wooden desk. There's a book on the desk, with her purple lighter resting in the crease, and someone has circled points on a graph of low post-ovulatory points and progesterone levels. Grdina and Jameson have been trying to start a family, and it's not going well. She's been through a battery of tests at a hospital, and the doctors say there's nothing wrong, but she's worried: She and Grdina have never used birth control, and she's never gotten pregnant before, so what does that mean? She's reading books such as The Infertility Cure and Pregnant Goddesshood, and she's heard about different kinds of herbs that might help out. "I really, really want it to happen," she says, her eyes searching mine. "I'm trying to think positive. But sometimes I can't."
It's hard not to see just how guilty, just how ashamed, Jameson feels about her problems getting pregnant -- did she wait too long? Fuck too much? The baby looms large for her, too, because in her mind it's her way out. And now Jameson is talking about getting the tattoos she got from her first boyfriend, the tattoo artist, lasered off. She wants to cut her hair short, too -- it's been so long since she had short hair, because in adult movies guys want the girls to toss their hair around. Jameson and Grdina recently spent two weeks in Costa Rica and loved it so much they bought a house there. She's even planning to take Grdina's last name officially, even though it's "funky-sounding."
"Look: Once a porn star, always a porn star, but I won't do porn anymore when I get pregnant," says Jameson. "There is going to come a time when my little girl or boy is going to look up at me and say, 'Mommy, kids at school are saying you are a porn star.' And I want to be able to say, 'Yes, Mommy was once a porn star, but when you came along, Mommy was no longer a porn star.' " Some couples might get a room ready for the baby; Jameson and Grdina have prepared by putting scenes for thirteen movies in the can, so that the Jameson brand will live on and on.
It sucks to get your period in vegas, but there's not much you can do about it other than take a handful of Motrin, and so that's what Jameson does. She's in a two-bedroom suite at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and a bunch of Grdina's friends are sprawled across the horseshoe-shaped couches drinking beer, as usual, and watching a video they made earlier of one of them downstairs in the sundries shop, clad only in his underwear. They keep pointing at the screen and laughing at the other customers trying to ignore him and buy sodas in peace; every time one of them hollers out, Jameson gets more and more tense, pacing the room, then standing by the window taking short, angry puffs on a cigarette. "God, can't you get everyone out of here?" she finally snaps at Grdina. "I'm trying to get ready! I could have a tampon string hanging out or something!"
Grdina looks annoyed; Jameson is fully clothed at the moment, and there is a bedroom to change in nearby that she could use easily.
"Chill, baby, chill," he says.
So things are not going great when everyone leaves for the Venetian hotel and casino, where Jameson is throwing a party tonight; she ducks into a VIP banquette and sits back, fuming. A thin, ragged blonde, the girlfriend of a friend, shimmies over in a slinky black dress and perches on her lap; they coo at each other for a moment, but Jameson is again tense. "It's a little uncomfortable: All these girls think that because I'm into girls, I'll be into them," she says. "It's, like, 'Good for you, but don't put a finger up my ass.' "
There's a bodyguard and a rope blocking the banquette, but people keep leaning over. "Do you remember me from that night in New York?" asks a guy with a goatee. "I spent $20,000 on you."
"Um, I think I would remember if you spent $20,000 on me," says Jameson, turning away.
Another man grabs her hand.
"You give me pleasure," he whispers.
"Eww!" she shrieks, cowering. "I'm so over this."
But then a girl comes up to the rope. She's from Sweden, nineteen, just here for a few days and looking like a porcelain replica of Snow White come to life (in a leather bustier). "Can I kiss you?" she asks.
"Sure," says Jameson, breathing heavily, and takes her face in her hands. Their lips linger on each other's, and when Jameson sits down, she's sexy, blissed out. For the first time, she looks relaxed.

"On December the 3rd, The Friars of Beverly Hills will be holding a (...o'boy...can't wait to get reamed on this one) Gene Simmons Roast. Yep. And, there will be celebs there who will, in the usual grand style, be drilling me a second butt hole. I probably deserve it. There will be a Friars journal full of ads and stories. A big chunk of the monies will go to Pediatric Aids.
"I am also finalizing a British television series (6 episodes) I will be hosting. We will shoot in early October. More news on this later.
"And, I'll be the fourth judge on 'American Idol' September 4th and 5th in New Orleans. But, in case you think that means you turn on your television sets then, don't. That simply means on those days we shoot. Broadcast dates are announced later.
"We are very close to finally seeing a KISS cartoon series. I've been trying to do this for over a decade. Paperwork has begun. We will see if this actually pans out. I've been to this dance many times in the past...even to the point of having signed contracts. As with most things, it's very difficult to actually make things happen. Talk is cheap, but from all indications, it looks good.
"My cartoon show, 'My Dad The Rock Star' (currently enjoying its second year around the world...it's a bona fide HIT) may soon be coming to America...finally. Talking with a network today. We'll see."

From the Associated Press
By JEFFREY GOLD, AP Business Writer
NEWARK, N.J. - Toys "R" Us Inc., battered by price wars from discounters, particularly Wal-Mart, is considering getting out of the toy business.
The nation's second-largest toy retailer behind Wal-Mart Stores Inc. announced plans Wednesday to restructure its toy business, but said it is considering selling the business outright as part of an effort to dramatically reduce operating and capital expenses.
The $11.6 billion company is also pursuing a possible spinoff of its fast-growing Babies "R" Us, whose 200 stores sell furniture, including cribs and bedding, as well as accessories. The company will begin operating the toy and baby business as separate entities in the meantime.
The Babies "R" Us division has been the company's growth vehicle, and has not been as vulnerable to discounters, Standard & Poor's credit analyst Diane Shand said in an S&P statement affirming its ratings on Toys "R" Us remained on CreditWatch with negative implications.
The company's U.S. toy division, however, has been inconsistent since the mid-1990s, when Wal-Mart ramped up its toy department as it also dramatically expanded the number of stores.
Traditional toys have decreased in importance, as children are turning to video games, computer software, sporting goods, and music for entertainment at younger ages," Shand said.
Babies "R" Us, which represents 15 percent of the company's total revenues, posted sales of $1.76 billion, up nearly 11 percent, for the year ended Jan. 31. Meanwhile, the Toys "R" Us' U.S. revenues fell 4 percent to $6.48 billion. Toys "R" Us has 683 toy stores in the United States and 579 international toy stores. It also sells through its Internet sites.
The announcement "is extremely positive for investors, as one of the critical pieces to unlocking shareholder value in (Toys "R" Us) is separating its crown jewel, Babies "R" Us," said Mark Rowen, an analyst at Prudential Equity Group Inc.
Still, shares fell 27 cents to close at $16.15 on the New York Stock Exchange.
John Eyler, chairman and chief executive officer, said the global toy and Babies "R" Us businesses are at "fundamentally different phases in their growth cycle," and separation would give the baby business more opportunity to continue its healthy growth.
Company officials declined to elaborate on their plans.
Richard Hastings, an analyst with Bernard Sands, was critical of the plan and said the Toys "R" Us announcement "is not as transparent as we would prefer."
The big question is who would buy the toy business, given that the industry has been reduced to cutthroat price wars?
Hastings said a buyer, should one emerge, would be more likely to be a private equity investment than a public company, as happened with rival FAO Schwarz. He could not estimate a price.
"They seem to be throwing this up in the air to see where it lands," Hastings said. "This sounds like the aftermath of some very, very weak results."
Toys "R" Us said Wednesday it would delay releasing its second quarter 2004 earnings until Aug. 23. The figures were to be released Monday. In the first quarter, the company's profit declined 48 percent in its fourth fiscal quarter, which ended Jan. 31 and covered a disappointing holiday sales season. Disappointing results continued into the first quarter, with the retailer posting a wider-than-expected loss and lower sales.
Poor holiday 2003 results helped lead to the bankruptcies of FAO Schwarz and K-B Toys.
Toys "R" Us has been retrenching for much of the last year to improve its bottom line. In November, it said it would close 146 freestanding Kids "R" Us clothing chain and 36 Imaginarium specialty toy stores, which sold educational toys, cutting up to 3,800 U.S. jobs.
Regarding the latest plan, Eyler said, "whatever form the separation takes, these steps should facilitate the execution of a restructured — and substantially leaner and more focused — global toy business that we believe can generate significant cash."
Toys "R" Us said it planned to "substantially restructure" the company's Wayne headquarters, reducing operating expenses in the headquarters and U.S. toy business by more than $125 million by fiscal 2005 as compared to fiscal 2003.
Spokeswoman Susan McLaughlin declined to say if layoffs are contemplated. The company said it has recorded severance and other related charges of approximately $14 million which will be reflected in the second quarter results, and additional charges will occur in subsequent quarters.
The company had 65,000 employees at the end of January.
Toys "R" Us has hired Credit Suisse First Boston to advise it on any sale. The possible retreat comes after Toys "R" Us has spent millions to renovate its stores and sought exclusive rights to certain toys to differentiate itself from the discounters, whom it couldn't beat on price.
"How do you make a profit in a business where margins are so squeezed?" said New York-based independent toy consultant Chris Byrne. "Wal-Mart really has functioned as a category killer in this."
"Ironically, this is what Toys "R" Us was doing in the '60s and '70s, as they were trumping all the regional toy chains," Byrne said, citing Lionel Leisure and Kiddie City.
Byrne said buyers for the global toy business would be scarce, considering the company's real estate liability and debt.
Toys "R" Us said it was focusing on preparing its toy stores for the upcoming holiday season and did not expect to make a decision before then on any store closings.
"Customers should know that we will operate our toy business with renewed energy," Eyler said in the release.
Jim Silver, publisher of the Toy Book, a New York-based industry magazine, said Toys "R" Us said the restructuring could help the company's finances.
"They're looking to make things more profitable. I think that's why you're seeing that there are management changes, they are going to get to leaner and meaner," Silver said, speaking from Orlando, Fla. With store closing expected, he said the company "can be successful as a 500- or 600-store chain."
Eyler will continue in his role as chairman and CEO. Richard Markee, vice chairman of Toys "R" Us Inc., was named president of Babies "R" Us and will become its CEO and president once the companies separate. Toys "R" Us treasurer Jon Kimmins will become chief financial officer of Babies "R" Us, and John Barbour, currently president of Toys "R" Us International, will become president of U.S. toy stores, the company said.

Dave Davies is working out the kinks after suffering a stroke last month.
The 57-year-old cofounder of the influential British rock band the Kinks collapsed in an elevator June 30 after giving a round of interviews promoting his latest record, Bug, at the London offices of the BBC.
His son, Christian, immediately took the rocker to the hospital, where he remains today.
The guitarist's spokesman, Alan Robinson, says Davies remains in good spirits despite the fact that Davies "is paralyzed on the right hand side of his body." Robinson reassures fans that Davies still retains some feeling and can "still hold a guitar pick."
Robinson says that Davies is "going to need at least another month of hospital treatment." Both Robinson and Davies' son Chris remain optimistic about the Kinks cofounder's full recovery, though.
"The doctors are confident that with physical therapy, he will recover," says Robinson. In a message on his father's Website (DaveDavies.com) last week, Chris Davies writes, "My dad asked me to post a message as he wishes to let you know he is doing well. He is still in hospital in London after suffering from signs of exhaustion. His doctors have advised him to take a break for a few months. Dave will be taking this time off to focus on healing, writing and plenty of yoga!"
Davies has 15 American tour dates for October listed on the concert Website Pollstar.com, but it seems unlikely he will be able to make a full recovery by this fall.
Davies, along with his brother Ray, started the Kinks in the early 1960s. Their debut single, a cover of Little Richard's "Long Tail Sally" was released in February 1964. But it was the band's third single, "You Really Got Me," that helped the Kinks take their brand of infectious guitar pop to the top of the charts worldwide.
The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, but the band hasn't cracked the Top 20 pop charts in the U.S. since 1983's "Come Dancing," which peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Hot 100.
Davies and his brother were hoping to mount a comeback this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of "You Really Got Me."
This has been a particularly rough year for the Davies brothers. Ray Davies was shot in the leg by a New Orleans mugger in January.
Indeed, Dave Davies is the latest musician over 50 to suffer serious heart problems in recent weeks. On the same day Davies had his stroke, David Bowie, 57, canceled his European tour due to heart-related problems. Isley Brother Ron Isley, 63, also had a minor stroke last month while overseas. And in the past week, former Eagles bassist Randy Meisner, 58, and the Oak Ridge Boys' William Lee Golden, 65, have also suffered heart-related ailments.

NEW YORK DOLLS singer David Johansen has told the New York Times that the band will soldier on with a replacement bassist filling in for late bassist Arthur Kane for the few gigs they have lined up. But after that, he said, the band's future is up in the air.
"We don't have any long-term plans or anything," he said. "We're honoring our commitments, and that's as far as we have any idea about. We've never had any kind of Maoist five-year plan anyway, nor have I with anything I've done. Everything I've done I've just fallen into.
"Most bands are commercial enterprises," he added. "But I'm not in one of those bands."
With regards to Kane, who died on July 13 from leukemia at age 55, Johansen said, "In a cosmic sense the reunion was something that he really wanted. Whatever his disease was, he was holding it in abeyance until he achieved that. If there's anything good about it, it's that."
As for himself, Johansen said that he was enjoying the reunion immensely, but that for him it was not a return to the past.
"I've been around the block a couple of times, and the guy I am now is the guy I like to be," he said. "That era is an element of who I am now. I'm doing it as a kind of devotion, some kind of quasi-religious experience for myself, a ceremony. Otherwise I can't do it."
"You try things on in life," he added. "You wear them for a while, and you see what's next."
NEW YORK DOLLS will perform at Little Steven's International Underground Garage Festival on Saturday (August 14) on Randall's Island in New York City.

IS IT MISS SPEARS? NO IT"S MISS PRESLEY.

VAN NUYS, Calif - After considering offers from some of porn’s heaviest-hitting production companies, teen star Teagan Presely is casting in her lot with Digital Playground. The 19-year-old star, known as much for her innocent looks as for her raunchy antics, has signed with the company for an undisclosed period of time.
“I looked around the business, and Digital had some really great PR for their girls,” Presely told AVN.com. “I thought it would be a good opportunity to get my name out there, not just doing the stuff I had been doing with gonzo and stuff, but also with features.”
“We’re thrilled to have her,” said Digital Playground’s Adella O’Neal. “She’s sexy, she’s beautiful, and she has so much to offer. She’s amazing. She has so much energy, and she’s excited and innocent. She’s like a breath of fresh air. We’re thrilled.”
Presley’s first scene for DP is in Jack’s Playground 14, a gonzo release slated to street in late September. Her first feature release is a porn-centered comedy entitled Contract Star. The Robby D.-directed video stars Evan Stone, Eric Masterson and Tommy Guns, and features a scene in which Presley performs with another DP contract star, Jesse Jane.
Presley’s previous work has largely been in story-light, gonzo-style videos, so the dramatics required by starring in features represents a new challenge.
“It’s different, definitely,” Presely said. “It’s been a learning experience, that’s for sure, but I like knowing a guy is going to go out, buy my videos, and put them in a VCR and watch them.”
Digital Playground representatives had no comment as to whether there would be other changes to their contract roster.

Touring News
official band quote regarding upcoming tour from johnny:
"yes, there is a tour in the works - we don't know where and when the dates are...the booking agent is doing his thing right now. we don't know when we we are leaving or coming home. nothing is confirmed or booked. As you know, things change, especially tour dates and venues."
"so, as always - when the dates are confirmed by the band/booking agent - they will be posted here, until then - they ain't confirmed and to be treated as rumors."
AZ writes:
Thanks Johnny!
If indeed the rumor turns out to be true this will be a welcome relief top the bland concerts that have been criss crossing the states this sure. With the exception of MINISTRY and SKINNY PUPPY'S respective tours, we feel like we may finally have something worth looking forward to. Possibly good news indeed. But again, as Johnny pointed out, thus far this is unconfirmed.

Porn valley- I don't know what significance August 10 has on the Goth calendar, but for the adult industry it marks the release of Guy Capo's first movie for DVSX, www.dvsx.com. It's titled Gothsend, and tonight Capo holds a premier party on KSEX radio, www.ksexradio.com www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=5228 to herald the event.
In bringing his troupe of the untanned to the Southern California landscape, Capo unfurls his Bela Lugosi cape but has obviously disavowed himself of the tendency to mimic cultdom's A Polish Vampire in Burbank - the Citizen Kane of Goth movies shot in Burbank, by the way. And so much the better for Capo's not even being aware of the film, if that's the case. Because this talented director has means, often in arresting ways, to make his own mark, forgiving the pun.
Positively reeking of grim atmosphere, the opening sequence of Gothsend roars to death, if you will, in a cemetery with Gia Jordan and Mikayla Cox hugging a tombstone then getting it by Kris Slater. Besides Cox, Jordan and Slater, Gothsend- not to be confused with Porn Star Karaoke at Matt Zane's- includes Jezebelle Bond, Lisa Marie, Reina Leone, Nicki Hunter, Shay lemar, Melanie X, Angelica Sin, Chloe Dior, Little Bit, Master Liam and Joe Friday.

"It was a good time in the group," drummer Marky Ramone told Billboard.com. "We were never in Italy [before] and it was something different. We were in Rome and it was [in a park] behind the Vatican ... where the Pope lives! Too bad he didn't want to see the show."

Well, we haven't made Playboy or Penthouse yet, but the fine folks over at HUSTLER know who we are. They obviously have great taste. (Now that can be good or bad depending on what your tastes are.)
It has just come to our knowledge that on July 26th www.hustlerporngossip.com did a lil piece on Big Bad MK. Go to the site and check out what they had to say. And while you're at it check out their Adult Video Line and pick one of these awesome and big production budgets have to offer. We have been warned by Sean Carney at HUSTLER that we'll adore the much hyped TABOO and he signed the note Hail Satan. Now what's that al about. Just kidding man, we love ya' Sean.

With the European festival dates now over, eyes are now on the Puppies to see what is in store next. It appears that the joint Skinny Puppy / Ministry tour spoken of by Al Jourgensen will not in fact be happening. Ministry will be touring with My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult this Fall, however. Information as to whether Skinny Puppy will be hitting the road again in another format is currently, as always, iffy. I'll let you know as soon as I know something.
In other news, the interview mentioned below has not happened yet. It appears to be the same situation with all of the radio interviews (including my own). Again, We'll inform you as soon as we get word.
There are some new print and online interviews worth mentioning, however. The new issue of Outburn (#26) includes a brief interview with both cEvin and Ogre. The very same issue includes a review of the album, which is given the highest possible rating of 10. Here's a clip from the interview in which cEvin discusses his opinion of Ogre's vocal style on the album:::
"I'm really happy, because I know that progress is about moving forward and not rehashing old ground. And I have to say that lyrically there's not many guys that can step on the same stage as Ogre."
Meridian Music has an in-depth interview with cEvin Key online. He speaks quite candidly about the early days, the internal conflicts within the band, and their current direction.
"[In] The 6 years or whatever that passed, I realized that Ogre and I had really grown, really honed in on becoming better people...adults that would never repeat the past. So we did the show in Dresden and it was overwhelming, 10 000 people showed up. It even FELT like Dwayne was there; after we left the stage there was this HUGE clap of thunder, just like one of our albums...it was just weird. The next day we were on a train to Prague, both just glowing and we got to talking about how great it would be to work together again."
The Greater Wrong of the Right, meanwhile, is still quite well on the CMJ (US college radio) charts. Last I checked the album is #3 on the electronic charts.

Rock quartet the Donnas will release their sophomore Atlantic album, "The Gold Medal," on Oct. 26, according to a label spokesperson. A video for first single "Fall Behind Me" will be shot Friday (Aug. 13) in Los Angeles. As previously reported, the set was produced by former Marvelous 3 frontman Butch Walker (Avril Lavigne, Sevendust).
Other tracks tipped for inclusion on the new set include "Revolver" and "Don't Break Me Down." "The Gold Medal" is the follow-up to 2002's "Spend the Night," which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and has sold 390,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The group will likely unveil some of the new material at a series of upcoming club shows, beginning Aug. 17 in San Francisco. The group will also play Aug. 19 at Los Angeles' Echo Club and two days later at the city's Sunset Junction Festival, alongside the Like, Ben Kweller and On The Speakers.
From there, the Donnas head to the U.K. for the Aug. 27-28 Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Please take a moment to read this note regarding the filming of the 20th Century Fox feature film "The Fantastic Four." FF Productions Ltd. will be working at 300 Low Level Rd. from August 2 to November 12. We will be building a Brooklyn Bridge set on the site. Once construction is complete we will film on the site. After filming has taken place we will dismantle and remove the set. When we have a film schedule in place, we will deliver another notice detailing our filming plan.
"The Fantastic Four" is a feature film based on the Marvel Comics created by Stan Lee. Our story follows four astronauts who, during an experimental space mission that went awry, are genetically and physically altered after being exposed to cosmic radiation. Reed Richards gains the ability to stretch and contort his body; Sue Storm is able to become invisible and create force fields; Johnny Storm can light himself on fire and fly; Ben Grimm becomes a rock-like being with super human strenght. Together they use their powers to fight the evil plans of their nemesis, Victor Von Doom.

A brand-new REVOLTING COCKS track, entitled "Prunetang", is currently available for download via the Revolver magazine web site at http://revolvermag.com/bootleg/index.jsp (free registration and copy of the new issue of Revolver magazine required).
MINISTRY side project the REVOLTING COCKS, now featuring MINISTRY mainman Al Jourgensen alongside Phil "Phildo" Owen (SKATENIGS), John Monte (M.O.D., MIND FUNK, DRAGPIPE), Mike Scaccia (RIGOR MORTIS, MINISTRY) and Mark Baker (ex-FEAR, HELLIONS, SHADOW REICHENSTEIN), are currently in the studio recording a new album, tentatively due before the end of the year.
"It's pretty fucking juvenile," Jourgensen told MTV.com. "There's a cover of [Jimi Hendrix's] 'Purple Haze' on there called 'Purple Head'. Other songs are 'Prunetang', 'Too Small to Taste' and 'Beat It Till You're Tired'. It's so childish because we're having a gas. We're 45-year-old juvenile delinquents. It's good work if you can get it."

Three years of waiting are almost over for Mortiis aficionados worldwide as the Norwegian legend, now with full band in tow, prepare for the release of their new opus - 'The Grudge'. The highly anticipated follow up to 2001's 'The Smell Of Rain' is set for release through Earache Records in the UK and Europe on September 13th 2004 with a US release to follow on September 21st.
'The Grudge' which was recorded at Silvertone Studios in Fredrikstad, Norway contains ten new tracks with production duties undertaken by Mortiis and Vegard Blomberg .Lyrically the album sees Mortiis in an angry and reflective mood as the band deliver a set of highly charged and emotive songs. The tracklisting for the album is Broken Skin, Way Too Wicked, The Grudge, Decadent And Desperate, The Worst In Me, Gibber, Twist The Knife, The Loneliest Thing, Le Petit Cochon Sordide, Asthma (instrumental)
The album will be preceded on August 16th by the release of Mortiis's first ever single in the UK. 'The Grudge' (single edit) will only be available for a limited period and comes in two formats with unreleased exclusive non album material. The CD Digi Pack contains two re-mixed album tracks whilst the two track limited edition 7" inch vinyl poster bag version contains 'Decadent & Desperate'. A video for 'The Grudge' was recorded recently in New York with acclaimed director Charlie Deaux ( System Of A Down)
"Three years is a long time coming" exclaimed Mortiis recently when asked about the album, adding that "I think every minute spent had its purpose and I think people will understand when they hear it.- this is the best Mortiis has done yet. It took me a year to form the band, then another year was taken up with rehearsing and touring, while the last was spent making the album. Then we got the opportunity to do the single, it was all last minute ,the conditions were insane as we had super strict deadlines to meet. The remixes for the single are wonderfully bizarre and way different from the originals."
Mortiis - Mortiis (Vocals, Synths, Programming, Sound Design), Levi Gawron, (Guitar), Asmund Sveinunggard (Guitar), Leo Troy (Drums) - are set to team up with fellow Norwegians Susperia for a major European tour, on a double headline package under the banner of 'The Unlimited Grudge Tour 2004'. Starting in the UK on 15th September the tour will run through 19 countries finishing in Belgium on 14th November. (see full dates below) The tour will be one of the most extensive undertaken by the band. Commenting on the mammoth undertaking Mortiis said "Fifty plus dates - if we survive this, we´ll survive anything!!. I can´t wait to play places where we have never been before like Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania. But it´s also exciting to return to a lot of the cities we've played before, to play the new songs and basically just go apeshit and get down with the destruction."

By Jenna Jameson with Neil Strauss
“The following is a true story. It is more naked than I have ever allowed myself to be seen. Neither my father nor my husband has been privy to these experiences: they have been a burden and a blessing for me to carry alone. Until now. It is a shocking tale, but it is also one of hope and beauty.”
So begins HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORNSTAR: A Cautionary Tale (ReganBooks, August 17, 2004, ISBN 0060539097), Jenna Jameson’s no-holds-barred memoir of how she became the biggest name in the history of adult entertainment and a cultural icon. An alternately tragic and triumphant coming of age story, a freaky and hilarious sex romp, and a remarkable treatise on female empowerment all rolled into one, HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORNSTAR: A Cautionary Tale is destined to be one of the most talked about books of the year.
Jameson overcame unimaginable odds on her journey to the top. Drawn into the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas as a teenager, she lived in a world of biker gangs and strip clubs haunted by abuse, rape, and even murder. Even as she clawed her way out, establishing herself in Los Angeles as one of the top models in adult magazines, she battled demons from her past, barely beating drug addiction and leaving behind heartbreaks too numerous to count. Her story is astonishing—not just for the spotlight it throws on the adult entertainment industry, the matter of fact recollection of XXX-rated exploits, and the scores of exclusive photos (many taken specifically for the book or from Jameson’s candid personal collection) that accompany it, but for the thoughtfulness, humor, and jaded wisdom with which she tells it. Above all, HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORNSTAR: A Cautionary Tale is a celebration of survival and victory on your own terms.
Jenna Jameson was born Jenna Massoli in 1974. She lost her mother to cancer at a very young age and grew up in the care of her combat vet, vigilante policeman, and sometime criminal father, running wild in the streets of Las Vegas with her inseparable older brother. A biker tattoo artist boyfriend introduced her to Vegas’ strip club scene. When she went for her first try-out, she was turned away because of her braces. She went home, pried the metal off her teeth with pliers, and returned the next day. Within months she was the highest paid girl at the Crazy Horse Too, one of Vegas’ premier venues, raking in thousands of dollars a night by instantly reading her customers’ psychologies and playing to their every fantasy. By that time she had weathered more tragedy and overcome more adversity than most people do in a lifetime. She was 17 years old.
After conquering Vegas as a stripper, Jameson moved on to X-rated photo spreads in LA and eventually to adult films—rising to the top in each arena on a combination of angelic natural beauty, business savvy, and a fierce determination to control her own professional destiny. She became the first contract start of Wicked Pictures, helping make it one of the top adult studios, then later formed her own production company and teamed up with adult industry giant Vivid Entertainment Group.
Jameson broke through to the mainstream as no pornstar had before through repeated turns on Howard Stern’s radio show and as the host of E! Entertainment Television’s coverage of the Cannes Film Festival. Soon she found herself mingling with and being propositioned by the Hollywood elite (note to Bruce Willis: improve your game), dating the likes of Tommy Lee and Marilyn Manson, and winning every award the adult film industry offers. Her meteoric ascent is punctuated by brutal bouts of crystal meth addiction, crazed, painkiller-fueled cross-country stripping tours, and one destructive relationship after another. Hers is a sex, drugs, and rock & roll lifestyle on an epic scale. It makes for wildly entertaining reading.
The story Jameson tells in HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORNSTAR: A Cautionary Tale is both unimaginably exciting and terrifying, but most remarkable is her perspective on it. Armed with piercing self-awareness and incredibly strong will, Jameson’s lust for life and playfulness permeate every page of the book. Funny segments and cartoons on How to Become a Male Pornstar, The Ten Commandments (of love and sex), and How to Date a Pornstar (a disquisition on the “suitcase pimp”—her name for the sleazy boyfriend/managers of adult film stars) will keep readers laughing throughout. A first hand glimpse into Jenna’s childhood is also seen through childhood diary entries chronicling, in remarkable honesty, her coming of age, late-developing body, and first encounters with the opposite sex.
HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORNSTAR: A Cautionary Tale has all the steamy anecdotes you could ask for—including plenty of stories sure to embarrass some mainstream celebrities—as well as stunning pictures that make it clear why she is the ultimate fantasy material for so many men. But it’s also the moving story of a lost girl making her own way in the world, a clever contemplation on self-determination, and a powerful declaration of empowerment. At the remarkably young age of thirty, Jameson is now an entrepreneur with her own company, a millionaire many times over, happily married, and is healing the wounds with her once-estranged father and brother. She is also the most powerful person in her field, overseeing a vast adult entertainment empire of her own creation.
HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORNSTAR: A Cautionary Tale is a frank and unflinching self-examination by a very smart woman who knows that many people don’t approve of her life. And, as with practically every challenge she has ever faced, Jenna Jameson comes out on top in the end.

Interview from www.Billboard.com
In the winter of 1982, in an apartment in Vancouver, cEvin kEy and Nivek Ogre got together on somewhat of a lark to begin recording and creating a reaction to popular music: something anti-pop, anti-commercial and most importantly, new.
The experiment birthed Skinny Puppy, a heavily influential cult act in modern music. From 1982 to 1995, the group released a string of groundbreaking albums that were met with critical acclaim. But in 1995, the project came to a screeching halt when group member Dwayne Goettel died of a drug overdose. After the 1996 release of "The Process," the band fractured and remained dormant for years.
The band's principal members continued through projects such as Download, Ritalin, Plateau, Ohgr and the Tear Garden. Content with these endeavors, kEy and Ogre continued touring and releasing albums separately until the summer of 2000, when they were offered the opportunity to reform Skinny Puppy for a festival performance in Europe.
What was intended as a one-off appearance at Germany's Doomsday Festival sparked a new spirit of collaboration, leading to the recently released SPV album "The Greater Wrong of the Right" and a brief slate of U.S. and European tour dates.
Now based in Los Angeles, kEy recently spoke to Billboard.com about the reunion and what the future may hold for Skinny Puppy.
What was it like working with Mark Walk as a producer on this album as opposed to longtime collaborator Dave Ogilvie?
Really good! He brought a lot to the band actually. He acted as the middleman, so to speak, which I feel is a really difficult job with Skinny Puppy. And I was ultimately very impressed with his ability to look at both sides -- the way the lyrical content of the music takes shape and how it integrates in with the music and so on. [He] was very cognizant of all those angles. I would want to call it the hardest job of the album.
How did making this album differ from "The Process?"
We have all had quite a bit of time to develop ourselves in our own solo projects, and we have had a lot of time to have a look back on what Skinny Puppy has meant to us, and what we liked about years in between it. To have those 8 years in between was probably the best thing that could have happened to the band, getting to a stronger place and to be ready to collaborate as adults [laughs].
We went through a lot of really bad things too. I mean, losing Dwayne was one of the worst things that could ever have happened to anybody. Really, it was devastating.
I sort of said to myself at that point, "Well, I have to pick it up for both of us now." We were really at a fortunate place, where we had managed to build up our own studio and our own space. I wasn't too worried when Skinny Puppy broke up because I knew that we would be able to explore something and when we first started exploring the next thing, it was really very exciting. It just felt like we were on a path. Ever since [then] I have really just buried myself in music and study and computers, and programming and playing and really just not thinking about Skinny Puppy.
And then there were a couple of Germans who each year were just calling us up, and saying, "We would like for you and Ogre to play [the Doomsday Festival]." And I was saying, "You guys are crazy! Don't you know?," and they were like, "Yeah, we know, but don't you think that it would be a good thing?"
I hadn't been speaking with Ogre for years, and when I did run into him, I told him about these guys, and he thought that it was pretty funny too. And than he started talking about, "The next time they call, let's push the limit as far as we can." I detected some interest from Ogre, to potentially do it for real, which was also a shock to me. So when they did call, and I sort of gave a hint that this was possible, these two guys just went to the limit and basically made it happen. You can thank them for basically getting Skinny Puppy back.
It was more difficult for us to prepare this live tour than it was to prepare [for] Doomsday and I don't really know why. I don't know if there was some magical force helping us, or whatever, but somehow a show just came together and went off without a hitch. It was just one of those things -- we recorded it as a live album that evening and everything.
Since than we have had such a positive and genuine relationship with each other that we have really been able to move forward. When we were on the train to Prague after playing [Doomsday] in Dresden, [we thought] it was too bad that we did all that work for one show. So we conceived the idea to do a new album, to not be retro-thinking but more forward moving ahead, and not be one of those bands that always has to come out and play 10-year-old songs. So that's where we sit now.
Were there any of the old songs that you missed playing live? Did you ever think to yourself, 'Man, I really miss playing "Smothered Hope?"
[Laughs] Yeah, well, I don't know if you can say I missed playing the particular songs, but you know, when you get into playing songs that you know from the inner most deepest parts, its easier to do than to write new music. There's a part of you that knows what to do without thinking -- it is really weird. We've been rehearsing some really old songs over the last few days, and when I'm not thinking about it, parts come back to me that I used to play live like 15 years ago.
"The Greater Right" is a very live-sounding album. When you recorded it, were you all playing at the same time? Or was it a more clinical kind of recording with lots of overdubs?
With today's technology, anybody can fortunately have their own recording studio in their home. Ogre and Mark have their own studio, and all of the people that I was collaborating with have their own, so there was a lot of exchanging of ideas. Each of us would go back into their own lair and see what would come of these things.
It wasn't done like the records of the past, where we always had to be in the same room. We were all more comfortable with our own rooms and sounds in our own surroundings. It was really an advantage in that sense.
How has your work with Download, Tear Garden and Plateau influenced what you are doing on the new Puppy album?
Well, each of us had several years to go and take a direction or two or three and at least see what was there. And it was really good, because it gave us an opportunity to hone in on what we are and what we wanted to do.
Whenever you're in a band you always think about things like, "What would I do if..." Well, I call it Side-Projectitis. And we sort of got it out of our systems now, and now we have a greater respect for what we bring to Skinny Puppy as individual members, because no one can make Skinny Puppy on their own. It's not something that we can do by ourselves.
It's about owning up and realizing the magic that comes from working with somebody that brings forth this combination. You can't even wish for something like that to happen. Fate takes care of these things sometimes, and you either respect it or you don't. I think that we've found a way to in a healthy way to respect what we have far more.
What were some of your influences when you were approaching "The Greater Wrong of the Right?"
Actually, it was really about not looking to external sources as much as I was looking to internal sources. When you have a 20-year path where your looking at it and saying, "What did I like about that, and what would I want to hone in on," it was more about thinking on that level and then like even going back and using some of the old equipment. Like the 20-year-old equipment that we have to try to go and integrate [with] the original pieces as well as the headspace. I'm a fan of what we do, and I wanted to be true to Skinny Puppy by bringing in all those elements, bringing in a synth that was used on "Remission," pieces from everywhere. People may not pick up on it, but I pick up on it.
What do you feel is the role of noise in music?
When we first started, I was in this other band that was just completely commercially minded and we were all about making music that was sort of designed, like "American Idol"-style. And I really had my fill of that -- it started to really irk me. I was working on an album down here in L.A. in 1984 with Gary Wright, the guy that made "Dreamweaver." We made an album in his home studio, and the studio was full of all of this great modular analog stuff and I had already made "Remission," and I was still in this other band as well. It just made me ill to think that if I was gonna be a musician that I was gonna spend my life making music that I didn't like.
I came back and the first thing I did was to start making music that was sort of anti-music, or anti-commercial music. It wasn't so much about grabbing noise for noise's sake, but I sort of gravitating towards things that just on a personal level. Because I like Throbbing Gristle, I like more noise-oriented stuff, and I always felt like people didn't take it very far as far as rhythm was concerned.
So I just wanted to take what I like about certain things, and than turn it around so it's a new take, which was at the time over-production of drums. And then Ogre was really at the right place at the right time. At the time we really didn't know each other very well, but I knew that just from the time that I had known him that he was quite literate and that he was into a lot of the same music.
But I never really considered making music with him or anything like that up until I was just sort of sitting around in this room making the tracks for what is now "K9." He came in, and I said, "How would you like to do some vocals on this?" just out of the blue. He was like "sure," and I said, "OK, you write the lyrics for it, and I'll come back later and record you."
So he took a lot of time writing his lyrics, and it was just like that. The way we progressed was kind of without a plan. People would ask me, "Well, what's your plan? What's your marketing idea?" I always said, "We don't have any plan. We don't have a marketing idea. We just do what I want."
The shows were largely about just partying and being crazy. And getting together with people that had like minded ideas, building some piece of weird staging, or some theatrical stuff including films and stuff. It was always about doing something that wasn't cheesy. How noise got worked in there, I'm not sure, other than going back to the concept of being anti-commercial.
What can audiences expect? Are you bringing out Drumasaurus, the big drum module?
I'm not drumming on this tour
You're not drumming on tour?
Ha-ha! Surprise surprise! As a matter of fact, I am back to the first days of Skinny Puppy, back to the electronics. I do have drums in my setup, but it's more back to the beginnings again, back to the two-tiered keyboard player with the effects and noise and drums.
Our friend Justin is playing drums for us on this tour. And to be quite honest, he's bringing a lot to this, because he's really nailing the parts. We even kind of look similar to each other, so people might just think it's me [laughs]. He's really blending in seamlessly -- he does all of the fills and all of the parts and it's really great.
[We're] also working with William Morrison, the guitar player from Ohgr. So now it's a four-piece live, maybe even a five- or six-piece, depending on if we can convince a couple of friends. If Otto VonSchrock or Omar or someone shows up, we'll drag them up there and chain them to the setup.
How long are you going to be out on the road?
Forever. Let's just say that we are going to tour this album more than we ever did originally. Right off the bat [we did] 17 shows in the U.S., six festivals in Europe, then to Japan and Australia. Our initiative, then, is to go back and repeat the entire thing, only bigger. This fall, there will be another U.S. tour.
How have technological advances contributed to the way you write your newer songs and perform your older songs?
Technology has certainly changed quite a bit since we started. We've seen the advent of MIDI and even computers coming into the framework. It's just unbelievable how much times have changed. We used to joke about having a computer with instruments in it and being able to record audio into it, like, "Yeah, one day it'll happen." Of course now, that day is already here and passed.
What's funny though is that we still go back and pull out the older equipment, because really, there's never been anything that's just come along and wiped out everything else in a sense.
The older things still have their attributes. The older instruments have a greater depth of sound most of the time. That's why we utilized a lot of that stuff on this album, there's a lot of analog stuff.
[But] when it comes to live and being able to tour around, you have to get something that's more reliable, and there are more reliable things going on today. I don't want to give a direct endorsement, but I will say that the Access Virus KC is a great synth. It's as good as a mini Moog possibly, but it has effects and all kinds of other abilities to be able to travel and tour and everything.
This is the first time that we are going to carry more of our studio as well. So we are multi-tracking live. Before in the past, we used to rely on backing sequences that were already mixed down to a stereo element. This time we are bringing the sequencers on the road so that we can carry the ability to actually flesh the sound out more at each venue. The sound will be above and beyond something that you may have heard before. There have been lots of great moves forward in technology in Skinny Puppy land, no doubt.
Skinny Puppy has always been very political. Were there any particular political ideas or concepts that you wanted to get across on this new album?
Certainly, I think that Ogre is always delving down into the depths of what we are as people and what we think about and dealing with it in a way that is suggestive in the sense that it could touch base with just about anybody, but maybe not the same subject matter. So, you never want to point the finger and say, "This is the definitive meaning of this track," because sometimes, people develop their own meanings for tracks that go deeper.
But when it comes from Ogre, that's not his path, to be unclear. He is very articulate about himself in a way that leaves a mystery of something but also, you can get in there and really figure out what he's talking about if you really look.
Being Canadian and living in the United States for quite some time -- certainly it's a learning experience every day to have witnessed the goings on of 9/11 and since. I think that there are a lot of opinions going around, and certainly Skinny Puppy has our share of political opinions which are somewhat hidden within our music. So yeah, we're making points about everything. I'm not going to go into direct detail because I think that those questions are more answered by Ogre. But yeah, certainly you are right, we are trying to touch bases.
At this point, what does the future of Skinny Puppy look like for you? Are you going to continue making albums?
Sure. We have the support of a label right now, where I don't know how it happened, but somebody out there in label land blessed SPV with being smart. They are really cool. They really came to the table like a fan.
They were trying to get us to make six different versions of the album. That was something we couldn't even do. [But] they want to release it in all sorts of styles and formats, [and] I believe that it's going to come out on double-vinyl as well as a nice six-panel digipak package as the standard release. We could have never talked to Nettwerk about stuff like that.
[SPV is] making a video for a song off the album, "For Protest." Also we will be making a DVD movie, which will be all about the tour. It's going all the way.

German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN have set a November 2 North American release date through Universal Records for their new album, "Reise Reise".
The follow-up to 2001's "Mutter", "Reise Reise" (which roughly translates to "Journey Journey") was recorded in Spain and Germany. Production duties on the CD were handled by Jacob Hellner, who worked with the group on "Mutter".
RAMMSTEIN have just issued a new single, entitled "Mein Teil". A video for the track was shot on June 2-3 in Berlin, Germany. A fifty-person crew and director Zoran Bihac, who also directed the "Links 2,3,4" clip, realized the concept for the video together with the band. Other songs set to appear on the CD include "Reise Reise", "Amerika", "Los", "Wo Bist Du", "Dalai Lama", "Keine Lust", "Morgenstern" and "Amore".

Variety reports that "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon (pictures) will play Dr. Doom in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four.
The "Nip/Tuck" star will play the venerable villain in "Fantastic Four," 20th Century Fox's Tim Story-directed film adaptation of the Marvel Comics franchise. Pic goes into production this month in Vancouver for a July 1 release.
Doom, a crazed scientific genius who hides his scarred face behind a metal mask, goes up against the title quartet of Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm/the Thing), Jessica Alba (Sue Richards/the Invisible Woman), Ioan Gruffudd (the eminently stretchable Reed Richards) and Chris Evans (Johnny Storm/the Human Torch). Simon Kinberg wrote the script.
The Hollywood Reporter says McMahon was offered the role on Friday and a deal will likely be made.

Jourgensen amongst many politically involved musicians in Election 2004 encouraging Youth Vote.
By John Malkin www.alternet.org
Musicians of all persuasion – from punk rock to hip hop to jam band – are fighting apathy and encouraging fans to vote.
"If every Deadhead in the state of Florida had voted in the last election, it would be a very different world today," reflects Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.
Weir, of course, is referring to Bush's slim 537-vote margin of victory in Florida in the 2000 election. And his point is applicable not only to Deadheads but punk rockers, folkies, indie rockers, hip-hop heads, and metal heads.
Indeed, the ballot boxes should expect a collective punch this November from America's youngsters, who are currently being educated and inspired to vote by hundreds of bands across genres – from the Dead to the Dixie Chicks, NOFX to Death Cab For Cutie – with the help of dozens of supporting organizations. If all goes as planned, more 18- to 30-year-olds will turn out to vote in November than ever before.
Recording artist Moby, who has worked with Rock the Vote, MoveOn.org and many other progressive organizations involved in getting out the vote, takes the pragmatic view: “It's important for everyone to vote and be involved in the political process. Democracy only functions when people participate, obviously.”
If participation is what’s key, then for many organizations, getting the coveted youth demographic involved is job one. "Voting is the new not-voting," says Damian Kulash, singer and guitarist with OK GO, the band that toured with Ira Glass for live performances of the radio show "This American Life." "The disaffected non-involvement that so many of us have been a part of needs to stop. It has stopped."
A variety of groups have been created to help musicians and organizers reach out to young music fans and encourage them to participate in social change through voting.
Music For America is a coalition of musicians, tour coordinators and band managers hoping to get one million new youth voters to vote this November. MFA postcards distributed at concerts remind fans that in the 2000 election, of 27 million eligible voters under age 25, only 10 million voted and in six different swing states the election was decided by less than 10,000 votes.
MFA has joined a wide range of artists and youth political organizations to form the Involver Alliance. The Seattle-based band Death Cab For Cutie is part of the alliance and bassist Nick Harmer says voter registration is available at every concert. But the band won’t tell its fans who to vote for, says Harmer. "Don't listen to us, listen to the BBC!” he says. “We encourage people at our shows to ask questions, go after information and figure out things for themselves."
Jehmu Greene, President of Rock the Vote, cuts to the chase. "This is the most important election my generation has faced. We face the same issues all across the country: healthcare, insurance, the job situation and seeing our friends and family on the frontlines in Iraq." RTV has been pushing voter registration since 1990, with help from MTV and corporate sponsors like Sunkist, Motorola and Ben and Jerry's.
Rock the Vote has worked with the National Council of La Raza, Americans for Healthcare and Native American tribes and has launched a 2004 national bus tour that will travel with bands like the Dixie Chicks, Lenny Kravitz and Erykah Badu to register voters. In July and August the RTV bus will tag along with The Dave Matthews Band on its tour and visit college campuses.
"This generation has the opportunity to rule the nation," says Greene.
During a break from registering voters at the Warped Tour in San Francisco on July 3, 24-year-old Amy Dials, Washington State coordinator for Music for America, echoes Greene's optimism; "If we did vote, we could sway this election." Dials estimates that 150-300 youth register to vote each day at the booth staffed by MFA and PunkVoter volunteers, while bands like Bad Religion, NOFX and Anti-Flag play to crowds of up to 18,000.
"We want to make it punk to vote," declared Brian Baker, guitarist with Bad Religion, which just released a new album, The Empire Strikes First.
PunkVoter was created in early 2001 by Fat Mike, (Mike Burkett) bassist and vocalist with NOFX. "I was upset about the 2000 Presidential election. I thought that Florida was rigged," states Mike. "I figured I had to use my connections and celebrity to get other bands and kids involved in the upcoming election. "
Fat Mike has also created the Bush Administration Retirement Fund Political Action Committee, or BARF PAC. He believes that abortion and the Iraq war are the most important issues facing youth today. "Abortion will probably be made illegal if George Bush wins. And we don't have enough troops in the Middle East and they are going to have to reinstate the draft," he predicts somberly.
Rock Against Bush, a compilation CD produced by Fat Wreck Chords and PunkVoter sold 250,000 copies in three months. It included a DVD of Uncovered, Robert Greenwald’s documentary about the US war on Iraq. And Scott Ritter, the former director of the U.N. weapons inspections team in Iraq and a Bush critic, joined the Rock Against Bush Tour. The second Rock Against Bush CD will be released in August and features songs by Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Green Day and No Doubt.
Al Jourgensen of platinum-selling band Ministry uses a special strategy to encourage fans to become politically active; "It is kind of devious, but between sound-check and show I will trade my autograph for their autograph on a voter registration card."
Many bands have links on their websites to political information and voter registration materials, from the Dixie Chicks’ Chicks Rock, Chicks Vote to Furniture for the People, created by jazz singer Rickie Lee Jones.
The basic message being sent from musicians to their fans is that the 2004 Presidential election is extremely important.
"Bush is the greatest organizer in a way. No one since Reagan has mobilized so many people," explains Jeff Chang, author of Can't Stop, Won't Stop: A History of the Hip Hop Generation and an organizer of the National Hip Hop Political Convention. In June, delegates from 14 states joined a bus tour across the Midwest and Northeast to register voters and convened in Newark, N.J., for an unprecedented effort among artists like dead prez, Kurtis Blow and Bustah Rhymes to develop a national strategy for transforming cultural power into political.
The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, founded in 2001, is a coalition of musicians, civil rights proponents and youth leaders working with Smackdown Your Vote to get 2 million more 18-to-30-year-olds to register and cast their vote than did in the 2000 election. Events are planned throughout this summer in Boston, St. Louis, Kansas City and during the March on New York for Freedom, Justice and Equality on August 30, all aimed at getting more youth registered to vote.
Rap the Vote, a project of Rock the Vote, works with the NAACP and has appealed to hip-hop fans in the past through TV and radio ads featuring artists like Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. New ads are being produced for the upcoming election.
Fans of jam bands and improvisational music are the focus of Head Count, which has already registered close to 20,000 fans, according to co-chair Andy Bernstein. The Dead and Dave Matthews will be featured in Head Count ads on TV in October aimed at getting young voters to the polls. Head Count volunteers will also tour between now and November with the Allman Brothers, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Santana, Michael Franti and Spearhead and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Given the large number of bands and organizations involved in getting out the vote, Air Traffic Control was created by Pearl Jam in April to help musicians navigate the options. "We serve the artists to help progressive musicians sort out their options for activism," says Jenny Toomey, an ATC organizer and musician/activist.
The summer and fall will be exploding with events, concerts and festivals where musicians and bands will encourage political education and voter registration. If you missed Moby at the Take Back America Conference in June, you can catch him, Mark Anthony, DJ Spooky and others at the Apollo Theatre in New York for a concert that will commence the Imagine Festival, a six-day alternative event to the Republican National Convention that begins on August 28. There will be political, cultural, and arts events throughout the city with daily themes like prosperity, unity, and democracy. The festival is being organized jointly by Music for America, MoveOn.org, Involver Alliance, The Knitting Factory and others.
In the end, it is the youth of America that will inherit the politics of America and continue to transform this society through organizing, action and voting. As Moby puts it, “it’s particularly important for young people to be involved in the political process now, … if the neocons and the right wing have their way, then the country that will be left to posterity will be environmentally compromised and Constitutionally dismantled, not to mention poorer and less secure.”
"Democracy is much like a muscle," reflects The Dead's Bob Weir. "If you use it, it gets stronger. If you don't use it, you lose it."
