STATIC-X have split with guitarist Tripp Eisen following reports that Eisen was arrested by authorities in two states on charges that include kidnapping, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from two separate incidents involving sexual relations with minors. The group's official statement reads, in part, "STATIC-X has parted ways with guitarist Tripp Eisen, effective immediately. Tripp is currently dealing with personal issues that prohibit him from being able to fulfill his commitment to the band. No replacement has yet been chosen. STATIC-X is in the studio putting the finishing touches on its fourth Warner Bros. album, scheduled to be released in May. The band will tour this summer in support of the record."
Eisen has been in police custody since his February 24 arrest, but was scheduled to appear in Central Justice Center Court in Santa Ana, California, on Monday afternoon (February 28), according to MTV.com. It's expected the guitarist will remain in police custody in California until he's cleared for extradition to New Jersey.

RAMMSTEIN's video for "Keine Lust", the fourth single from their latest CD, "Reise Reise", has been posted online at VideoPimp.com.
The "Keine Lust" clip was shot in January with director Jörn Heitman, who had previously helmed the group's videos for "Amerika" and "Ohne Dich", among others.
RAMMSTEIN's "Keine Lust" single is scheduled for release on February 28 in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as a maxi-single, a limited-edition digipak single, and as a two-track.
Recorded primarily in Spain (El Cortijo Studio, Malaga), "Reise Reise" (translated as "Voyage, Voyage" or "Journey, Journey") is the follow-up to "Mutter", which entered the chart at No. 77 back in April 2001.
"Reise Reise" sold 26,716 copies in the United States in its first week of release in mid-November to debut at position No. 61 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Simon Baker, star of George Romero's upcoming zombie sequel film Land of the Dead, told SCI FI Wire that he had a bloody good experience shooting it. "In classic George style, there's a lot of subversive social comment," Baker said in an interview while promoting his latest project, The Ring Two. "It's a good time, historically, to make a film like it. I got really into that and enjoyed that aspect of it."
Baker added: "At the same time, because I was never really a huge zombie movie fan, I was impressed by this. George's movies are at a different level, on an absolutely different level. He does so much more than just make a zombie movie. I'm what you could call a reluctant hero. We've got a great cast: Asia Argento, Dennis Hopper, John Leguizamo, Robert Joy. It was a good experience. I had a really good time making it. We shot in Toronto for 40-something nights. I think we had one or two split days, but the rest of the movie was shot at night. And it wasn't warm by any means. We finished shooting on the 24th of December, I think, and it was freezing. Even though it was cold and difficult I had a lot of fun making that movie."
Universal Pictures will unleash Land of the Dead on Oct. 21.

Rob Zombie's second project as a feature film director, "The Devil's Rejects", has had its release date moved up to July 22 from the previously announced August 12. The decision to change the release date was apparently made by Lion's Gate Entertainment after a "killer test screening" on February 10 that established the movie as "the highest-testing movie in the history of the company," according to Zombie. "After the [test screening] they picked a small group of about 20 to discuss the film. 18 of the 20 rated the film as excellent and the other two rated it as very good. Hey, what more can I ask for?" stated Zombie.
"The Devil's Rejects" is the sequel to Zombie's directorial debut, 2003's "House Of 1000 Corpses". The rocker-turned-filmmaker has said that this movie will be much darker and nastier than its predecessor.
"The Devil's Rejects" follows "House"'s evil Firefly family as they flee from a cop bent on revenge for the murder of his brother in the first movie, according to Launch Radio Networks.
In addition to returning cast members like Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, "The Devil's Rejects" boasts an assortment of actors long associated with the horror genre, including "Halloween"'s P.J. Soles, Ken Foree from the original "Dawn Of The Dead", Michael Berryman from "The Hills Have Eyes" and Steve Railsback of "Helter Skelter" and "Ed Gein" fame.

Ken Serrano and Chris Jordan of New Jersey's Asbury Park Press have issued the following report:
He told the 14-year-old Sayreville girl he was "T-Rex" and he liked to impersonate the guitarist for the heavy metal band they both liked, STATIC-X, authorities said.
But the 39-year-old man accused of meeting the girl through the Internet, driving from Pennsylvania and sexually assaulting her in an Old Bridge shopping center in January was no impersonator, police said.
Tod Rex Salvador, who goes by the stage name Tripp Eisen, a guitarist for STATIC-X, was apprehended Thursday in Orange County, Calif. by two detectives from New Jersey, authorities said.
Salvador, of Burbank, Calif., was charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, luring to entice a minor through the Internet and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison on the kidnapping charge alone.
When Det. Scott Crocco of the Old Bridge Police Department and Det. Sgt. David Jones of the state police encountered Salvador, he had just gotten out of jail.
Police in California arrested Salvador on Feb. 10 after finding him sleeping in a parked car with a girl with whom he had just had sexual intercourse, said Jon Fleischman of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Salvador was charged with committing a lewd act with a child and was released after posting $100,000 bail, Fleischman said.
Following his arrest Thursday technically on a fugitive warrant from New Jersey, Salvador was turned over to the Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana, Calif. He is being held there without bail while he awaits extradition to New Jersey, authorities said.
"We've confiscated several computers to examine them to see if there are other victims," Lt. Kevin Rehmann of the New Jersey State Police said. "We suspect there may be in several other states."
STATIC-X is one of the most popular groups to emerge from what's known as the nu-metal scene of the late 1990s that spawned bands like KORN.
The band released its debut album, "Wisconsin Death Trip", in 1998. The album went gold, selling half a million copies. A new album is scheduled for release later this year.
A call placed to the band's publicist at Warner Bros. was not returned. A management company, The Firm, referred calls to Salvador's Los Angeles-based attorney, Mark Werksmen, who did not return calls.
Police said the Sayreville girl met Salvador on a web site where he used the screen name "groverygodadat" under the heading "never married male looking for female."
"He tells the girl he's a fan of the band and portrays himself to look like the guitarist in (STATIC-X)," Rehmann said.
He drove out to Old Bridge on Jan. 7 from Pen Argyl, Pa., in a truck belonging to a Pennsylvania relative, said Lt. Robert Weiss of the Old Bridge Police Department. Salvador, who once lived in New Jersey, was back in Pennsylvania from the West Coast on an extended holiday visit.
Police said he had consensual sex with the Sayreville girl in the truck in the parking lot of the shopping center. The girl's mother found out about the assault and went to Old Bridge detective Thomas Montagna, Weiss said.
On Thursday (Feb. 24), Salvador was apprehended in Orange County, Calif. by two detectives from New Jersey in connection with an incident last month where he allegedly met a 14-year-old girl from Sayreville, New Jersey through the Internet, drove from Pennsylvania and sexually assaulted her in an Old Bridge shopping center. He was charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, luring to entice a minor through the Internet and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Asbury Park Press. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison on the kidnapping charge alone.
According to authorities, Salvador told the 14-year-old Sayreville girl he was "T-Rex" and he liked to impersonate the guitarist for the heavy metal band they both liked, STATIC-X, reports the Asbury Park Press.

Howard Stern is making nice with an old nemesis, Clear Channel Communications.
Stern and the behemoth radio broadcaster have settled their dueling multimillion-dollar lawsuits for an undisclosed amount.
The legal brawl dates back a year, when Clear Channel booted Stern from the airways in six cities because his syndicated radio show did not "conform to acceptable standards of responsible broadcasting." The company had been slapped with nearly $500,000 in FCC fines for Stern's onair antics during an April 2003 show, and, in the wake of Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, were especially jittery. Clear Channel pulled the plug for good after a caller dropped the N-bomb on Stern.
Stern fired back with a $10 million federal lawsuit that claimed the broadcaster violated the terms of their contract. "I'm under attack," Stern said at the time.
Then, Clean Channel retaliated with a $3 million countersuit that alleged Stern and his distributor, Infinity Broadcasting, violated their contract by airing indecent programs.
But it seems some sort of middle ground has been found. According to a statement from Clear Channel Wednesday, a deal has been struck.
"We are pleased to resolve this contractual dispute with Howard Stern without further legal expense and delay," Andrew Levin, Clear Channel's executive vice president and chief legal officer, said in the statement. It is unclear whether Stern's show will reappear on Clear Channel stations--as of Thursday morning, it was still off the air.
Stern is still carried on about 100 other stations nationwide and a televised version of the radio program airs weeknights on E! Entertainment Television (E! and E! Online are part of E! Networks).
Stern, who's not long for the traditional radio world, didn't immediately comment on the settlement.
In October, the self-proclaimed King of All Media unveiled a new five-year contract with Sirius Satellite Radio. He said he was thumbing his nose at censors by taking his show off the FCC-regulated airways and on to uncensored satellite.
Stern is counting down his remaining terrestrial days on his Website (www.howardstern.com)--he's got 10 months and 12 days left on his contract with Infinity. He'll kick off his Sirius broadcast Jan. 1, 2006.
In other news, Stern is getting some props for his highly publicized battles with his detractors. He was just handed the Wired Renegade award from Wired magazine for his efforts against the FCC and for his switch to Sirius.
Editor-in-chief Chris Anderson says the award is given to people who are "mavericks, visionaries and dreamers who inspire us as they transform our culture."

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - US author Hunter S. Thompson, who committed suicide last weekend, wanted to exit this world in a style befitting his extraordinary life: being fired from a cannon, a friend revealed.
The larger-than-life writer of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" stated in his will that he wanted his ashes to be fired out of a cannon following his funeral, plans for which have yet to be announced.
"I believe he wanted to be shot out of a cannon," friend Troy Hooper told AFP.
"I understand it's in his will," said Hooper, associate editor of the Aspen Daily News, based near the Colorado home where Thompson, 67, apparently shot himself on Sunday.
"That's Hunter's style. That's how he would want it. He was a big fan of bonfires and explosions and anything that went bang and I'm sure he'd like to go bang as well," he said.
Hooper, who became friends with father of "gonzo" journalism about five years before his death, cited reports that Thompson told his son, Juan, that his after-life ambition was to become cannon fodder -- literally.
"That's exactly the kind of stuff he would say all the time," he said of one of the most important American literary figures of the 20th Century.
It was Juan Thompson who found his father's body in his rural home in Woody Creek, near the ski resort of Aspen, after he apparently shot himself in the head on Sunday night.
Hooper, who saw Thompson last week, said Thompson had been in pain following recent back surgery, following a hip replacement and after he broke his leg recently.
But Thompson, famed for his LSD- and alcohol-fuelled literary exploits, did not seem "more distraught than usual" in the days before he died, Hooper said, adding that Thompson was "often either up or down."
Sheriff's department investigators in Woody Creek, where Thompson lived for more than 40 years, said he appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Thompson became a sharp-witted icon of 1960s counter-culture after the publications of "Fear and Loathing" in 1972 in which he pioneered "gonzo" journalism, in which the writer inserts himself and his personal views into the story.
His work, written in the first person, hit a chord with America's youth at the height of the unpopular Vietnam and the social rebellion of the 1960s and 70s.
Thompson described the birth of gonzo journalism in a 1974 interview with Playboy, saying he was covering the Kentucky Derby on deadline, but "I'd blown my mind, couldn't work."
"So finally I just started jerking pages out of my notebook and numbering them and sending them to the printer. I was sure it was the last article I was ever going to do for anybody."
Thompson rose to fame in 1966 with the publication of his book "Hell's Angels," the story of his infiltration of the then-feared Hell's Angels motorcycle gang, an adventure that got him savagely beaten.
"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" is the apocryphal tale of a wild, drug-fuelled weekend spent in the desert gambling hub of Las Vegas by protagonist Raoul Duke, a thinly-disguised version of Thompson.
The adventure was recreated in a 1998 Hollywood film starring Johnny Depp .
The stories of Thompson's heady experiences earned him a popular reputation as a wild-living, hard-drinking, LSD-crazed writer bent on self-destruction.
His other works include "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72," a collection of articles he wrote for Rolling Stone magazine while covering the election campaigns of then-president Richard Nixon and his opponent, Senator George McGovern.

Christian Bale, who plays the Caped Crusader in the upcoming Batman Begins movie, told SCI FI Wire that his Batman combines elements of two previous roles he's portrayed: Jesus Christ and the American Psycho. "He's very much an American psycho of sorts and, yeah, also certainly has Christ-like symptoms," Bale said in an interview at WonderCon in San Francisco last weekend. "And, yeah, you know, [you see it in] the battle between [his] spirit and ... flesh and, with Bruce Wayne, the battle between the philanthropy his father taught him and was a great example to him for and the need for vengeance, which is incredibly strong." Bale played Jesus in the 1999 telefilm Mary, Mother of Jesus and gained fame as the title character in 2000's theatrical film American Psycho.
Bale said that he views Batman as conflicted. "Because his heart is telling him, frankly, that he wants to kill," he said. "But he cannot do it. He's been taught differently from childhood, and he knows that it is wrong. But, still, it's an overwhelming urge that he's had to pull back, rein in, all the time."
Bale added that this version of the Batman story, the fifth in Warner Brothers' recent franchise, is particularly relevant to these unsettled times. "I don't want to give away too much, but what Scarecrow [Cillian Murphy] is doing, and which Ra's Al Ghul [Ken Watanabe] and everybody [is up to], is very similar to the anthrax scare that people [went through]," he said. "It's very similar to the possibility of chemical, biological warfare, etc., going on. The notion also of the mentor that Bruce Wayne chooses to go and train with being a man with a triple-barreled name [who] lives in caves kind of on the run: You can't help but take a look and say, 'Hmm. There's a lot of relevance to it.' I think also the age-old thing of the ever-widening gap between rich and poor. And the nature of power and corruption. I think all of these things are particularly relevant, yeah. And I think it should be. Because this is American mythology. It should be in keeping with the times. If it's not, it's missing the point." Batman Begins opens June 17.

Is Dimension Films ready to blow the dust off Pinhead and wake him up for some more carnage? If you head on over to Amazon.com you'd see they have release dates listed for both of Dimension Films' upcoming direct-to-video 'Hellraiser' films. Hellrasier: Deader is set for release on June 7th while Hellraiser: Hellworld will be hitting shelves on September 6th. Obviously this isn't official, but it's at least something. Come on Dimension, this is motherfucking ridiculous.

SANTA MONICA, California — It's been awhile since we've heard from Garbage, but don't worry, they didn't break up. Or maybe they did.
"It depends on which one of us you ask," bassist/guitarist Steve Marker said during a recent visit from their Madison, Wisconsin, home base to Los Angeles. "I think we took a break, but some of us think that we broke up, so we haven't even resolved that yet. We should probably talk about that. It got pretty weird between the four of us, and the music wasn't really happening, so we took a break. There were times when it felt like we should break up, I suppose, but it didn't quite happen, obviously."
During those times, the band struggled with agreeing on a direction for the new tunes, but in time Garbage regrouped, agreed on a sound and recorded Bleed Like Me, due April 12.
"It sounds to us now like it was done quicker than our other records, but it did take us almost two years," drummer Butch Vig said. "There's less layering, less electronic things. It's basically just a really loud guitar record."
The album's first single, "Why Do You Love Me," officially hit the airwaves Tuesday, with a Sophie Muller-directed video to follow shortly behind.
"It's a very melodic ... Phil Spector girl-group sped-up-fast kind of song," Marker said. "It's one of my favorite cuts on the record. It's gonna be a challenge to play live, especially for our drummer. It's very fast."
"It also has one of the most metal riffs we've ever done," added guitarist/bassist Duke Erikson.
On the track, singer Shirley Manson questions her appeal to a lover and then questions his motivations and eventually his loyalty. "I'm not as pretty as those girls in magazines," she sings in the first verse.
"It's a weird, weird song that kind of deals with three different things in my life going on at one time," Manson explained. "I can't actually articulate it very easily without sounding like a turd. ... I always feel like I have this duty to explain the lyrics, and I always feel like such a turd doing it, so I just decided on this record I'm not gonna do it."
At the start of recording Bleed Like Me, Garbage attempted to work with an outside producer for the first time, John King of the Dust Brothers, but the sessions proved unproductive.
"It made us realize that we do what we do in our own bizarre little way, and nobody else can really help us do that," Erikson said. "In that way it was good; it kicked us in the butt and made us go back and kind of reevaluate where we were at and realize that what we do is really important to us, and we are the only ones who are really gonna get it done. It was kind of seductive to think that maybe someone else was gonna come in and solve all of our problems, but in the end you gotta do it yourself."
Garbage did, however, bring in a guest musician for a track called "Bad Boyfriend," which Manson described as a "filthy, lusty rock song."
"I ran into Dave Grohl at a Christmas party, and after drinking a couple of beers with him, a little light bulb popped up, and I was like, 'Dave, you've got to play drums on one of the new Garbage songs,' " recalled Vig, who knew Grohl from producing Nirvana's Nevermind. "He was like, 'OK, dude, just give me a call.' And we did and we didn't hear anything for two months, and all of a sudden we get a call saying, 'Dave can be in the studio tomorrow.' He came in and did three takes on it, and by the third take he nailed it."
Grohl only played on the one tune, but his presence was felt on all of Bleed Like Me.
"Once he played the drums on that track, that kind of set the bar for how we wanted the rest of the songs on the album to sound," Vig said. "That really forced us to ramp it up more on 'Bad Boyfriend' and 'Metal Heart' and some of the other tracks."

2003, Un-rated, 91 Minutes, Wayne Ewing Films, Inc and Gonzo International
While speaking briefly with Wayne Ewing before seeing his documentary Breakfast With Hunter at the Arclight in Los Angeles about eight months ago, he alerted me to the fact that, even though the film was just beginning its journey on the festival trail, he was already working on a super special collector's edition DVD with all sorts of cool bells and whistles to play with. Two hours later, I drunkenly stumbled out of the theater with the thought of this DVD coming down the road in the near future keeping me on my feet. Well, it's finally here and even though it's not as tricked out as I thought it was going to be, it's still a super special collector's edition for any lover of Hunter Thompson's work as the film itself provides a look inside the life of the good Doctor that very few would be able to capture. A longtime friend and neighbor of Hunter's, Ewing was granted access to Owl Farm and allowed to videotape Hunter during a time when he was battling the Aspen City Police and watching his most notorious work, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," transform into a motion picture.
Special features include bonus footage of Hunter working with various artists including P.J. O'Rourke, Don Johnson and the late Warren Zevon - nothing shockingly special here, but good for the ol' archives anyway - but the star attraction bonus feature is the running commentary by Ewing and Hunter. Apparently it was a real bear to get Hunter to sit still for a commentary, but Wayne finally pulled it off...even if he only gets Hunter to sit through the first half hour. It's an interesting listen - if Hunter's talking it's always interesting at the very least - but nothing too incredibly insightful. Surprisingly, when Ewing is on his own, that's when the commentary gets really good as he can just relax and tell his side of the story of how it was like being the invisible man in all of these scenes in the life of Hunter presented us. Once again, the one scene that sticks out is the fight between Alex Cox and Hunter that ended Cox's relationship with the "Fear and Loathing" film. Without the commentary, this scene is an amazing piece of video, incredibly tense, but with the commentary, it gets even more tense as Wayne describes himself crouched on the sofa with his camera, praying to God that the verbal confrontation didn't turn to physical violence. Wayne knows Hunter a lot better than any of us ever will, so you believe it when he voices his concern about Cox's well-being. Ewing continues to provide plenty of insight into the rest of the film, making this commentary something like a sequel - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with Hunter. This is definitely one for the fans!

I have posted a tribute to HST's influence on my writing, and life in editorials.

(CNN) -- Journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson, who unleashed the concept of "gonzo journalism" in books like "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," fatally shot himself in the head Sunday at his home near Aspen, Colorado, police and his family said.
"On February 20, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson took his life with a gunshot to the head at his fortified compound in Woody Creek, Colorado," said a statement issued by Thompson's son, Juan Thompson, to the Aspen Daily News as reported by the Denver Post.
"The family will shortly provide more information about memorial service and media contacts. Hunter prized his privacy, and we ask that his friends and admirers respect that privacy as well as that of his family."
A dispatcher for the Pitkin County Sheriff's Department confirmed Thompson's death.
Thompson, 67, was associated with the "New Journalism" movement of the 1960s, in which writers took a more novelistic and personal approach to their subjects. His account of a drug-fueled trip to cover a district attorneys' anti-drug conference as a writer for Rolling Stone magazine was the seed of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," perhaps his best-known work.
Subtitled "A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream," the 1971 book included his lament on the passing of the 1960s and its "sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil."
"There was no point in fighting -- on our side or theirs," he wrote. "We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark -- the place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."
In "Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72," he described the campaign leading to Richard Nixon's re-election as president with terms like "brutal" and "depraved," speculating that Democratic Sen. Ed Muskie was under the influence of an obscure African psychoactive drug and bemoaned Nixon's looming victory by proclaiming, "Jesus, where will it end? How low do you have to stoop in this country to become president?"
Other works included "The Great Shark Hunt," a collection of Watergate-era essays; "Generation of Swine," his lament on the youth of the 1980s; and his account of Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential win, "Better than Sex." His lone novel, "The Rum Diaries," was published in 1998, while a collection of letters, "The Proud Highway: The Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman," came out in 1997.
In recent years, he wrote a column for the sports network ESPN's Web site. In his most recent piece, posted February 15, he describes shooting at golf balls like skeet with a friend near his longtime home -- he called it "a fortified compound" -- outside Aspen.
"The general reaction here is shock and dismay, because he was such a figure in town," Aspen resident John Hoag told CNN.
Still, Hoag said, Thompson remained a private person. "The most news we heard from him was when a pack of dogs killed his peacock, Attila, and he broke his leg in Hawaii last year."
Thompson also was the model for the character of "Uncle Duke" in the "Doonesbury" comic strip. But Thompson strongly disliked the characterization, once telling an interviewer that he would set "Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau on fire if the two ever met.
In later years, however, Thompson said he had made peace with the "Uncle Duke" portrayal.
"I got used to it a long time ago," he told Freezerbox magazine in 2003. "I used to be a little perturbed by it. It was a lot more personal ... It no longer bothers me."
In 1980, actor Bill Murray portrayed Thompson in the film "Where the Buffalo Roam." And in 1998, the film "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" was released, based on Thompson's book and starring Johnny Depp as the journalist. A new film reportedly is in production based on Thompson's novel "The Rum Diaries."
The writer himself, Hoag said, will be missed. "There's no one in the world these days who writes the truth ... as he seems to, to me," he said. "He spoke to the world and said what people were afraid to say."

By ROBERT WELLER, Associated Press Writer
ASPEN, Colo. - Hunter S. Thompson, the hard-living writer who inserted himself into his accounts of America's underbelly and popularized a first-person form of journalism in books such as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," has committed suicide.
Thompson was found dead Sunday in his Aspen-area home of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, sheriff's officials said. He was 67. Thompson's wife, Anita, had gone out before the shooting and was not home at the time.
Besides the 1972 classic about Thompson's visit to Las Vegas, he also wrote "Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72." The central character in those wild, sprawling satires was "Dr. Thompson," a snarling, drug- and alcohol-crazed observer and participant.
Thompson is credited alongside Tom Wolfe and Gay Talese with helping pioneer New Journalism — or, as he dubbed it, "gonzo journalism" — in which the writer made himself an essential component of the story.
"He may have died relatively young but he made up for it in quality if not quantity of years," Paul Krassner, the veteran radical journalist and one of Thompson's former editors, told The Associated Press by phone from his Southern California home.
"It was hard to say sometimes whether he was being provocative for its own sake or if he was just being drunk and stoned and irresponsible," quipped Krassner, founder of the leftist publication The Realist and co-founder of the Youth International (YIPPIE) party.
"But every editor that I know, myself included, was willing to accept a certain prima donna journalism in the demands he would make to cover a particular story," he said. "They were willing to risk all of his irresponsible behavior in order to share his talent with their readers."
The writer's compound in Woody Creek, not far from Aspen, was almost as legendary as Thompson. He prized peacocks and weapons; in 2000, he accidentally shot and slightly wounded his assistant trying to chase a bear off his property.
He also is survived by his son, Juan Thompson.
Born July 18, 1937, in Kentucky, Hunter Stocton Thompson served two years in the Air Force, where he was a newspaper sports editor. He later became a proud member of the National Rifle Association and almost was elected sheriff in Aspen in 1970 under the Freak Power Party banner.
Thompson's heyday came in the 1970s, when his larger-than-life persona was gobbled up by magazines. His pieces were of legendary length and so was his appetite for adventure and trouble; his purported fights with Rolling Stone editor Jann Wenner were rumored in many cases to hinge on expense accounts for stories that didn't materialize.
It was the content that raised eyebrows and tempers. His book on the 1972 presidential campaign involving, among others, Edmund Muskie, Hubert Humphrey and Nixon was famous for its scathing opinion.
Working for Muskie, Thompson wrote, "was something like being locked in a rolling box car with a vicious 200-pound water rat." Nixon and his "Barbie doll" family were "America's answer to the monstrous Mr. Hyde. He speaks for the werewolf in us."
Humphrey? Of him, Thompson wrote: "There is no way to grasp what a shallow, contemptible and hopelessly dishonest old hack Hubert Humphrey is until you've followed him around for a while."
The approach won him praise among the masses as well as critical acclaim. Writing in The New York Times in 1973, Christopher Lehmann-Haupt worried Thompson might someday "lapse into good taste."
"That would be a shame, for while he doesn't see America as Grandma Moses depicted it, or the way they painted it for us in civics class, he does in his own mad way betray a profound democratic concern for the polity," he wrote. "And in its own mad way, it's damned refreshing."

Has the gagged Michael Jackson molestation case been unbound?
The Smoking Gun on Thursday published 805 pages of purported Jackson grand-jury testimony--and said it was busy scanning more.
The postings come about a month after the Website, along with ABC News, first made public excerpted testimony of Jackson's young accuser. At the time, both the prosecution and defense teams decried the leaks, essentially confirming their authenticity
As of Friday, there were no new condemnations of the latest Smoking Gun scoop, although Jackson's camp seemed to find comfort in some of its contents.
Jackson's official news Website posted a FoxNews.com story, based on the Smoking Gun documents, about how the singer's accuser told the grand jury that he referred to his alleged Neverland tormentor as "Daddy," or "Daddy Michael."
Jackson blasted the grand-jury leaks earlier. With the blessings of the court, the pop star released a statement on Jan. 30 saying that he deserved a fair trial and maintaining that the "information" heard by the grand jury was "disgusting and false."
California's Santa Barbara County convened a grand jury to hear testimony in the Jackson case last spring. The proceedings resulted in a 10-count indictment against the entertainer. Jackson has pleaded innocent to the charges, which include molestation, conspiracy and plying a child with intoxicating substances.
According to the Smoking Gun (TheSmokingGun.com), the grand jury heard from 41 witnesses--from the accuser to the flight attendant, who told of Jackson's predilection for being served wine ("yucky Kendall Jackson") in Diet Coke cans, to the public-relations expert, who said a Jackson attorney gleefully talked of making the accuser's mother "look like a crack whore."
Chief among the new posts were 154 pages of testimony that the Smoking Gun says was delivered by the accuser--all but outed now, if not identified, as a former cancer patient who turned 15 in December--over two days on the stand in March and April of 2003.
The choicest contents of the boy's professed testimony are by now familiar to those with a working knowledge of the case: The boy says Jackson showed him naked pictures of women (cracking, "Got milk?" at the sight of a woman's breasts), nicknamed him "Apple Head," spoke of the importance of masturbation and then masturbated him, got him woozy on "Jesus Juice" (wine in a soda can), Skyy vodka and Jim Beam bourbon and held the boy and his family against their will at Neverland Ranch.
One new detail contained in the boy's supposed complete testimony: Jackson kept a mannequin in his bedroom, and on one occasion, he pretended to have sex with it in front of the accuser and his younger brother.
The alleged molestation is said to have occurred in the weeks after the boy taped an interview with Jackson for the Martin Bashir documentary Living with Michael Jackson, which aired on ABC in February 2003.
The Smoking Gun's mother lode of documents also includes the purported testimony from the accuser's brother, mother and sister, the attorney who represented the family of the accuser in the 1993-94 Jackson molestation investigation and the therapist who turned on authorities to the family at the center of the current case. In all, the Website says it has obtained 1,903 pages of testimony.
Jackson was not called to testify before the grand jury.
Leading news organizations such as the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press, did not publish accounts of the professed leaks Friday, with the L.A. Times saying it could not confirm that what the Smoking Gun has posted is the same document that's supposedly sealed up at the Santa Barbara County Superior Court.
The Smoking Gun, meanwhile, was confident it had the goods.
"Like any reliable news operation, we meticulously source and verify stories before publishing," the site said in a statement. "Our many stories on the Michael Jackson investigation--including this week's on the grand jury testimony--are no exception."
The Jackson trial, still in the early phases of jury selection, is on hold until Tuesday. Proceedings were suspended earlier this week when Jackson took ill with the flu and required an overnight hospitalization.
Meanwhile, in another development, music legend Quincy Jones, already on Jackson's star-studded list of possible defense witnesses, might not be the singer's best character witness, Celebrity Justice reports.
While Jones has told confidantes that he never saw any criminal behavior by Jackson toward children, the TV show says, the record producer was worried that his friend's "sleepovers with boys" would be his downfall.
"We are told Quincy Jones actually did an intervention on several occasions. Going to Michael Jackson and saying, 'Look, this is inappropriate. It's wrong, and it could bring you down if you don't stop,' " Celebrity Justice executive producer Harvey Levin said on Thursday's program.
Jones worked with Jackson on his three biggest solo album hits, Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad and also produced "We Are the World," which was cowritten by Jackson.

Music Video Distributors and Target Video have announced the home viewing release of "Iggy Pop – Live San Fran 1981" for worldwide distribution on DVD.
This is the Godfather of punk, dressed in drag, in an exceptionally energetic performance for a crazed-crowd in San Francisco. Over the 30-plus years of Iggy Pop's career, one thing has always remained constant, his absolute devotion and dedication to the live show. From the chaos of the early STOOGES shows to his recent work with the TROLLS (as well as the reformed STOOGES), no one can deny that Pop is the epitome of live rock action.
While this DVD may look rough and raw to 21st century eyes, it is also the best representation of Iggy live during an otherwise pitifully undocumented era of his career. Fronting a crack band featuring BLONDIE drummer Clem Burke and future DAVID BOWIE guitarist Carlos Alomar, Pop is as unpredictable and dominant as ever (no small feat since he is sporting a mini skirt, garters and stockings for most of the show). Filmed on November 25, 1981 near the end of their tour supporting his 1981 album "Party", Iggy and co. are raw and ready for business. "Live San Fran 1981" provides a snapshot of a hungry artist at the top of his game in front of an adoring crowd.
"Iggy Pop – Live San Fran 1981" track listing:
01. Some Weird Sin
02. Houston Is Hot Tonight
03. Eggs On Plate
04. Rock & Roll Party
05. Bang Bang
06. Lust For Life
07. Pumpin' For Jill
08. I'm A Conservative

11. Dum Dum Boys
12. I Need More
Iggy Pop - Vocals
Carlos Alomar - Guitar

NEW YORK - A self-described celebrity journalist who is a frequent guest on raunchy radio host Howard Stern's shows said on Saturday U.S. securities regulators had subpoenaed him in a probe of possible insider trading in Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. stock.
Chaunce Hayden told Reuters the Securities and Exchange Commission (news - web sites) had ordered him to appear on Wednesday in New York to give information about trading in shares of Sirius, Stern's future radio home.
Hayden said he had made an on-air prediction that Stern would leave broadcast radio for satellite radio and then coincidentally had been in the studio when the shock jock, a frequent target of federal radio regulators over decency issues, announced in October he would move to Sirius in 2006.
An SEC attorney in a phone call said he "wanted to know why I was up in the studio the day Howard made the announcement and if I heard anything that day, if there was anything spoken about, and he said he had a bunch of other questions as well," Hayden said.
He said he himself had never owned stock except in a 401-K retirement fund. Sirius stock rose more than 15 percent on the first day of trading after Stern's announcement.
Hayden said he hung up the first few times the SEC attorney called. "I thought it must be a prank from one of the Howard Stern guys so I kept hanging up the phone. Then when I got the subpoena, I realized it was not a prank, it's for real."
Hayden said that when he himself had interviewed for a job at Sirius, he asked if the satellite radio system was going to hire Stern rivals Opie and Anthony, and the interviewer had told him, "We're holding out for Howard Stern."
"With that information plus the hearsay and speculation," Hayden said, he made his cable TV prediction.
"Then several weeks later Howard made the announcement live on the air that he was doing it and it just so happens, and it was just a coincidence, I was the only journalist in the studio that day he made the announcement."
Sirius spokesman Patrick Reilly told Reuters he had no comment on the reports, but said, "We have no reason to believe this matter involves Sirius or any actions of its officers, directors or employees, and neither Sirius nor any of its officers, directors or employees have received a subpoena in this matter."
An SEC spokesman had no comment.
A spokesman for Stern could not immediately be reached for comment.
On Oct. 6, Stern said he would leave his program, syndicated by Viacom Inc.'s Infinity Broadcasting unit, when his contract expires in January 2006. He said his five-year deal with Sirius was worth $500 million.
The fledgling satellite radio market pits Sirius -- which has just above 1 million subscribers -- against larger XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., with 3.2 million.
The Federal Communications Commission fines broadcast radio but not satellite radio for content it finds indecent. (Additional reporting by Caroline Drees)

San Diego, California, February 18, 2005 -RAMCO Productions, www.ramcoproductions.com the San Diego upstart that is taking the Adult Industry by storm, has just inked a non-exclusive deal with Old Pueblo Distribution to deliver Clown Porn (the Movie).
www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=8105
Based solely upon their creativity (and a sizeable bribe), Old Pueblo's President, Arnold Stein has gone against his better judgment and signed the lunatics at RAMCO Productions. Noting that there is nothing else resembling Clown Porn in the adult DVD market, Arnold wanted to work with a company that offered a completely new product.
Since premiering their debut feature at the AEE in Las Vegas, RAMCO Productions has been actively making the rounds promoting the release of Clown Porn (the Movie). The film's two stars, Jenna Brooks and Hollie Stevens, even competed in the "Stupid Bowl" on Howard Stern's radio program in full clown get-up, with Jenna Brooks taking home the $5,000 first prize. RAMCO has also enjoyed coverage in the form of articles and reviews from several other major media outlets. Attention of this sort for a brand new company pushing its first title is very encouraging.
"At RAMCO Productions, we find it easy to work with people like Arnold at OP because they are positive and easy-going just like ourselves." Says RAMCO's President and co-founder, Chris Spoto. "For a well-established company like Old Pueblo, that can pick and choose who they represent, to approach an industry newcomer with one title is a testament to their forward thinking."
Clown Porn (the Movie) - combining hot adult action with zany sketch comedy - has drawn many (mostly positive) reactions from viewers. As is often the case with change and innovation, offering a new form of creative expression is not without its drawbacks…
"Howard Stern panned us pretty good - he obviously doesn't like clowns very much, and we have received some hate mail as well, but the movie is much more than just folks dressed up like clowns fucking. There is an overriding comedic theme throughout the film, and we hope viewers give it a chance on the level as a comedy as well as it being porn - or at the very least as a good drug movie... All of the interest generated just goes to show that Clown Porn elicits a response from people, so in one sense we have succeeded in what we have set out to do."
Be on the lookout for Clown Porn (the Movie) on the shelves of your favorite Adult store soon, brought to you by RAMCO Productions and Old Pueblo Distribution. Stores & Distributors Call Arnold 520-319-5709 or email arnold for all orders. Pre-sale orders encouraged. Street Date:3/1/05

Hollywood- Videotaping his sex romp with Paris Hilton has earned Rick Solomon $7 million, enough to buy a posh pad in the Hollywood Hills, "Celebrity Justice" reports. Solomon closed the deal this week after plunking down $3.4 million for the home just down the street from his buddy, "Spiderman" star Tobey Maguire, who helped him pick out the dream digs. The property has a pool, a master bedroom with a shower with a beautiful view and a state-of-the-art media room.
Even though he denied releasing clips of the videotape, "One Night In Paris," that turned up on the Internet, Solomon says the Hilton family is blaming him anyway. "They're trying to bury me," Solomon said at the time. "They're making me look sleazy."
Porn distributor David Joseph of Red Light District said last year the tape has "sold more copies than any video in the history of porn."

Movie Gallery is "wolf in sheep's clothing"
Porn Valley- The story of Movie Gallery's pending $1.2 billion buyout of Hollywood Entertainment/Family Video last month www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=7867 had the American Family Association up in arms.
So you better believe the full page ad taken out Tuesday in USA Today as well as The Washington Post and The Oregonian hwww.victimsofpornography.org/images/Movie_Gallery-USAToday.pdf has the AFA thumbprints all over it.
Since the merger had been announced, the AFA has been putting out the notion that there will be, in essence, 4500 corporate-style porn stores across American carrying and renting XXX tapes.
I was talking to Bill Margold this morning about this since it was Margold who brought it to my attention. "It was a huge ad in the paper," says Margold who was curious why this hadn't become a big story in the porn community as well.
The ad goes on to tell people that they should be aware that if the name Hollywood Video sounds familiar it's because they have 1900 Family Video stores throughout the country. "If the name Movie Gallery isn't, it's because their 2,200-plus stores are in similar secondary markets," says the ad. "But they're currently negotiating to buy Hollywood's nationwide organization."
The ad is lending the idea that this is a whole wolf in sheep's clothing merger and that the nation will be saturated in porn as a consequence: "Putting them right where they want to be- in front of your family," states the ad.
The ad then refers readers to a piece written in thedeal.com, January 28, 2005 by Richard Morgan which is only accessible if you're a paid subscriber to The Deal, so one might wonder about the kickbacks, residuals and ulterior motives in that reference.
Apparently the front organization in this campaign is Victims of Pornography.org. Signees to the ad include the usual anti-porn suspects, Citizens for Community Values, The American Family Association, Concerned Women for America. Morality in Media, American Decency Association, Parents Television Council and National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Familes.
"What a crock of shit," says Margold. "A page in USA Today can't be cheap. This is a heavy-hitting ad.

Melodic punk rock troubadour Billy Idol has revealed details of his first new studio album in over 10 years.
'Devil's Playground' is set for release on March 22 across the US and is his first with new label Sanctuary:
"Enough!" said Idol in a statement, "2005 is the time for an original punk rocker to show his stuff."
The former Generation X rocker, who scored huge hits with 'White Wedding' and 'Dancing With Myself', says he distanced himself from the music business to 'regenerate, get free of myself and make an album for the right reasons."
The 50-year-old made a number of cameo appearances on screen in recent years, including Oliver Stone's 1991 Doors picture and 1998's The Wedding Singer.
First single release will be 'Scream'. A major US/European tour schedule is expected later this year.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Pro-am performer-producer Summer Haze www.clubsummerhaze.com has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Old Pueblo Distribution, according to owner Arnold Stein. First releases are Vols. 4 and 5 of her series Behind Closed Doors.
“I am beyond excited to bring Summer Haze under the Old Pueblo umbrella,” Stein told AVN.com. “She introduces new girls to the industry and captures the reality of the porn lifestyle like no one else can.”
Haze, billed as one of the “Top 20 Feature Entertainers,” is a dancer with a busy itinerary who shoots scenes with other dancers while on the road. Her adult video career began in scenes for Dave Cummings and Wildlife Productions, before she started shooting on her own.
Haze Xperience, her production company, is headquartered in Hollywood, Florida, but she and husband-partner Craig Valentine make videos wherever she happens to be performing.
“The camera is on the road and it catches everything it sees,” Valentine told AVN.com. Haze is host and commentator and always appears in one sex scene.
Beginning with Behind Closed Doors 6, Haze’s DVDs will be fully interactive, Valentine said. They make DVD releases only and do not produce Web content.
Valentine called their deal with OPD “very open and very lucrative.” With their own replication and printing facilities in Miami, they are able to deliver OPD a fully finished product.
First volume of their Search for the Next American Blowjob Queen will be ready for release in March. Also in production are a lesbian series and a handjob line, and they hope to shoot two full-length features this year.
OPD will also distribute Haze’s Couples Fantasies, a swinger-themed line that, according to Valentine, is the only line with real swingers and hardcore sex. Vol. 1 received a AAA 1/2 rating in the January 2005 AVN.
Valentine said he sold the first three volumes of the Closed Doors series to a British company, but has since bought back Vol. 1 and plans also to retrieve the other two.

According to a posting on The NIN Hotline, footage for NINE INCH NAILS' video for "The Hand that Feeds", the first single off their upcoming "With Teeth" CD, was shot this past weekend in Pleasant Hill, San Francisco and Oakland (all in California). The video is being directed by Ian Inaba, from the Guerrilla News Network, who previously directed the video for EMINEM's "Mosh".
One worker on the scene said, "[Trent Reznor] never sounded better. I couldn't help but be totally overcome with energy and excitement when I heard the song for the first time." Another commented, "I'm still wiped out from shooting for this video, but I gotta tell you, it's going to be awesome!"
"With Teeth", is scheduled for release in the U.S on May 3 (one day earlier internationally). The CD, which is said to be "more song-orientated" than 1999's "The Fragile", was recorded in part at Sound City Studio in Van Nuys, Ca., and features a guest appearance on drums by former NIRVANA drummer/current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl. Mixing duties were handled by Alan Moulder (THE CURE, SMASHING PUMPKINS). The album's first single, The Hand That Feeds, is expected to go for radio adds during the coming weeks.

Over the last few years there have been two artists that have claimed to have created the famous heavy metal "devil's horns" hand signal: Ronnie James Dio (BLACK SABBATH) and Gene Simmons (KISS).
You know the "devil's horns" signal? It is the universal heavy metal sign for "you rock", usually used in unison with the music at heavy metal concerts. Not to get satanical or anything, but the sign is supposed to represent the sign of the beast, with horns represented by the index finger and pinkie raised. If you raise both hands with this sign, the band "really rocks!"
That are two heavy metal rockers from the '70s both laying claim. Ronnie James Dio claimed to have created the gesture before joining BLACK SABBATH in 1978. Gene Simmons also claims credit, writing in his 2002 autobiography that it was the bass-playing demon of KISS that created the international heavy metal symbol. So there is no evidence that the symbol was created earlier than the '70s...or is there?!
We have discovered irrefutable photographic evidence that is was none other than Beatle John Lennon that created the famous sign in 1967. Furthermore, it was even used in animation for the BEATLES "Yellow Submarine" (just check the original vinyl album cover). These are two photographic images that can be tied down to specific years PRIOR to the '70s.

The photo of Lennon giving the sign appeared in one of the first BEATLES pictures in which the band promoted the upcoming "Yellow Submarine" animated movie. Since the BEATLES changed appearance often and were one of the most photographed icons of the '60s, it is possible to date the photo between June and October of '67. "Yellow Submarine" was being animated between '67 & '68, so the cartoon image of John flashing the heavy metal sign can also be verified date-wise. Although the film "Yellow Submarine" was released in 1968, the vinyl album (on which one can clearly see Lennon displaying the sign) was not released in the U.S. until 1969. But that is still years before Ronnie James Dio or Gene Simmons!
What other ties does Lennon have to heavy metal? Well, he claimed that the BEATLES song, "Ticket To Ride" was "one of the earliest heavy metal records ever made". How fitting that it was Lennon who also created the best-known symbol of heavy metal!

POWERMAN 5000 frontman Spider One has posted the following message on the group's official message board:
"O.K., so here's a long overdue update. First off, the new record is just about done. We still have to track a bit more and then mix, but I'm pretty sure we are done writing. Although who knows... No official release date yet, because we are exploring all the options in terms of getting this thing into your grubby little hands.
"What is it going to sound like? Well, let's just say if you like calculated, bloated HOOBASTANK ballads or radio friendly nu metal or over-produced, auto-tuned, cookie-cutter rock, then you will hate the new POWERMAN 5000 record. Now, I'm NOT going to say the standard bullshit like, 'This is our heaviest, most brutal record yet.' That's so boring and predictable. Not to mention, not true. I will say that, this record is raw and real.
"My goal on this one was to put together a bunch of songs that were meant to be played live. The kind of songs you could jam on with your friends in a garage band. I don't know, it is what it is. Rock 'n roll, punk rock, metal, whatever... it's PM5K. I'm digging it!!!
"We are getting back on the road soon. I'm sure most of you have seen a handful of West Coast gigs popping up. There will be more to come. We will be touring a little differently this year. Instead of long drawn out runs, we will be doing shorter regional blasts. So, we will be hitting the East and the Midwest and the South. Just not right in a row. We will let you know when all dates are confirmed.
"Who the fuck can you expect to see on stage?! With the revolving door in this band, sometimes I'm not even sure myself. I'm pretty certain I'll be there. Mr. 7 and Siggy will be there. Adam, sadly, will not be joining us for this run of West Coast dates. He is active in the writing and recording of the new record, but is opting out of the live performance end of things (atleast right now). Hitting the stage on guitar will be ex-ALIEN ANT FARM guitarist Terry Corso and ex HALFCOCKED guitarist Johnny Rock. I must tell you the rehearsals with these guys have been blazing!!
"As I always say, 'don't be afraid of the future'...
"Well, that's enough for you to chew on for now. THANX for being the coolest fans around, see you on the road."

Warner Bros. Pictures has released new Batman Begins pictures on the official website www2.warnerbros.com/batmanbegins/index.html Included are pics of the Batmobile, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, Katie Holmes as Rachel Dodson, Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Lt. According to a posting on former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick's official web site, www.kulick.net the gunman who shot Kulick on Sunset Blvd. in 2003 has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the incident. "Justice is slow, but I know alot of my fans were curious to hear what happened," Bruce writes on his web site.
On Oct. 15, 2003, Kulick attended a concert by MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil at the Key Club on Sunset Blvd., and left the with a friend at 1:30 a.m. As he walked down the Strip, he heard gunshots. He looked down to see a hole through his leather pants, right above the knee. Next thing he noticed, blood was coming down his leg.
Kulick heard a second bullet whiz past his ear and realized he'd been grazed in his head by it.
The EMS crews arrived immediately and took him to the hospital.
"I'm very grateful for the immediate response of both the crowd and the doctors, and — obviously — the EMS crews," Bruce said the day after the shooting. "I'm fine and very thankful to be alive."

According to a posting on the KISS fan site KissNews.de, KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was among the attendees at the annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills hotel last Saturday (Feb. 12) in Beverly Hills, California — one day prior to the 47th Grammy Awards. Stanley attended the party with girlfriend Erin Sutton see photos from KissNews.de and is said to have mingled with people like Jimmy Page, Clive Davis and former KISS songwriting collaborator Desmond Child. A recap of the evening's events from legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin follows:
"Sitting at our table is Paul Stanley, who tells me he is addicted to my website - he reads it in the middle of the night when he can't sleep (Gene Simmons probably would - if I paid him) and his girlfriend Erin. He tells [Jimmy Page] he can't tell if I namedrop him or Slash the most. The bright lighting is suddenly obscured by a figure nearly as big as the ballroom we're in. It's Steven Segal... I am not joking, he is physically HUGE. A bit like a Buddha — well, he claims to be into Eastern Religion when he is not killing 5000 people with one hand. Much to our surprise he's at our table. Paul, Jimmy and I watch him consume all of the dessert — he puts his glasses on then consumes two tiers of pastries from giant plates... I mean everything. We're all nudging each other, trying not to laugh."
One of this year's Grammy winners were MOTÖRHEAD, who were honored in the Best Metal Performance category for their cover of METALLICA's "Whiplash". The track was produced by Bob Kulick, who recently produced a KISS tribute album entitled "Spin the Bottle".

On February 10th-13th, the video for "Execute", a track most recently featured on Matrix:Revolutions DVD and scheduled to be released on MARAZENE's debut album, "Resin-Hate" was shot in Chicago. Joseph Elsey (U Press Play Productions), whose work on the cult/camp zombie/horror spoof "Stay Dead" attracted the band from the get-go, directed the video.
"There was an immediate connection between Joe and MARAZENE" bassist Dietrich Thrall explains. "We'd discussed several avenues of collaboration including the possibilities of doing some scoring and contributing soundtrack material for a feature Joe had been working on and even a Mini Movie for Marazene Material. The video for "Execute" is the end result. He's [Joe] got great energy and we knew he was the right person to handle something we all felt was the next big step for MARAZENE."
Members of Marazene remain tight-lipped about the videos visual direction but didconfirm the use of a green screen.
Vocalist TJXC sums up the philosophy behind the videos theme, "We want to give everyone who hasn't had a chance to see Marazene up close and in person a sampling of the Marazene live experience. This is something incredibly special for us and something we feel certain our friends/fans will find special as well."
The video footage is currently in editing and is expected to be finished in several weeks.
Marazene's next show is February 24th @ Double Door hosting the Damage Manual CD Release Party with DJ Acucrack, SuperSport, and Maggot Twat. Invisible Records/Underground Inc founder Martin Atkins will guest DJ between sets.

One-time teen Pop sensation Deborah Gibson/Debbie Gibson is posing nude in the March issue of Playboy magazine, reports Liz Smith in The New York Post. The pictorial will coincide with a new single titled "Naked." Debbie Gibson or Deborah Gibson is also readying a remake of the Daryl Hall & John Oates classic "Rich Girl" for a forthcoming album.
So there is an 8 page pictorial featuring Deborah Gibson in the March issue of Playboy Magazine which debuted at newsstands February 11th!
Deborah Gibson is a creative force in the entertainment industry who does it all! She has single handedly transcended music and entertainment trends and fads. Deborah stands poised at the top, embarking on the second phase of her hugely successful pop career.
Deborah Gibson (Debbie Gibson) exploded on the pop music scene at the tender age of 16. She quickly became the youngest person ever to write, produce and perform a #1 single ("Foolish Beat"), a record which she still proudly holds to this day. Deborah Gibson has sold over 16 million albums worldwide to date. Her extraordinary career has garnered her #1 Billboard hits, Platinum albums, ASCAP Songwriter of the Year honors, sold-out audiences around the world and rave reviews for her starring roles on Broadway.
Growing up in Long Island, Deborah Gibson began performing with her sisters in Community Theatre at the age of five. By the time she was twelve years old she was already a professional Broadway actress pursuing a recording career. The dream was realized by sixteen, when Deborah was signed to Atlantic Records. Her first single "Only In My Dreams" went right to the top of the charts around the world.
Following were several more top five hits and the #1 single "Foolish Beat". Her debut album "Out of the Blue" (see here) sold over five million copies. With this, Deborah Gibson established herself as a household name and immediately confirmed that position with her triple platinum follow up #1 album "Electric Youth" (see here) and the #1 single "Lost In Your Eyes". Deborah Gibson's recording legacy includes 1990's Gold album "Anything Is Possible," 1993's "Body Mind Soul," 1995's "Think With Your Heart," (see here) 1997's "Deborah" and 2001's "M.Y.O.B." (see here).
In 1992, Deborah Gibson returned to her theatrical roots by taking a star turn in the Broadway production of Les Miserables as "Eponine." She broke box office records in the London West End production of Grease as "Sandy," then took the stage in the U.S. Broadway Tours of Grease and Funny Girl playing "Rizzo" and "Fanny Brice" respectively. Deborah Gibson returned to Broadway as "Belle" in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," followed by her critically acclaimed performance as "Gypsy Rose Lee" to Betty Buckley's "Mama Rose" in "Gypsy" at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
In February 2000, Deborah Gibson starred as "The Narrator" in the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Then, in December 2001, Deborah starred, in a 3 month engagement, as "Cinderella" in the national production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" to Eartha Kitt's "Fairy Godmother". In October, 2002, Debbie Gibsongraced the stage as "Velma Kelly" in Boston's North Shore Theatre's production of "Chicago", a role she will do again at the Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City, July, 2003. Deborah Gibson returned to Broadway in February 2003, for a 4 month stint as the "saucy, sexy Sally Bowles" at Studio 54 in "Cabaret".

SHE'S A LIBERAL!
--Chicago Tribune
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The daughter of conservative firebrand Alan Keyes announced her homosexuality at a gay rights rally here Monday, publicly revealing for the first time what had been an open secret during her father's failed Illinois senatorial campaign.
Maya Marcel-Keyes, 19, spoke only obliquely of her sexual orientation in a brief speech before a crowd of several hundred people outside the Maryland State House.
Though she spoke mainly of the troubles of homeless gay youth, Marcel-Keyes addressed the difficulties she faced growing up as the daughter of one of the country's most outspoken opponents of homosexual lifestyles and gay marriage.
"Liberal queer plus conservative Republican just don't mesh too well," she said.
Her father, who is on the West Coast giving speeches this week, issued only a terse statement about his daughter's coming out.
"My daughter is an adult, and she is responsible for her own actions," the statement read. "What she chooses to do has nothing to do with my work or political activities."
Keyes drew national attention during the Republican National Convention last year when he called homosexuality an act of "sexual hedonism." Asked later if Vice President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter, Mary, is a selfish hedonist, Keyes answered that she is.
A day after that interview, Keyes defended his statements, saying he would feel the same about his own daughter, although he wasn't questioned about her at the time.
"If my own daughter were a homosexual or a lesbian, I would love my daughter, but I would tell my daughter that she was in sin," he said.
Marcel-Keyes said Monday that her father's private stance toward her homosexuality has been consistent with his public statements on the subject.
Last week, she was forced to move out of Keyes' Chicago apartment because of her sexual orientation and left-wing political activism.
Despite being "finally cut off," as she wrote in her Weblog, Marcel-Keyes said that she had received an outpouring of support. The Point Foundation has even offered her a scholarship to attend Brown University in the fall, she said.
The gay rights advocacy group Equality Maryland invited Marcel-Keyes in November to speak at the rally, and she considered the decision for a month before deciding to talk about her sexuality.
Her orientation was the subject of constant rumors and speculation during her father's campaign, when reporters and Internet blogs discovered her online diary, which only thinly disguised her identity.
Nevertheless, questioned about her relationship with her parents Monday, she spoke fondly of them.
"I love my parents very much, and they love me," she said

Well, for those of you "lucky in love" we'd like to wish you all a Happy Valentines Day. And for all of you sinners and players of the field, we'll drink one for you this evening.
We dedicate the following song to you which was written by the great Peter Steele. If you cannot relate, you are not human.
The Dream Is Dead (Valentines Day Song by Type O Negative)
Champagne glass of blood and wine
On chocolate hearts alone I dine
Candles weeping waxing tears
Ten for roses each one a year - disappear
Arrows fester in my heart
Each memory another dart
Love and death both colored red
Showing my past, the dream is dead
Another lonely Valentine's Day
I can't believe things turned
out this way
And though I hate to see you go
I know it must be so
Another lonely Valentine's Day
Nobody will break your fall
All for none, yeah, none for all
Nothing's so cruel as the truth
Join the Festival of Fools
Nobody will break your fall
All for none, yeah, none for all
Nothing's so cruel as the truth
Join the festival, my fools
Another lonely Valentine's Day
I can't believe things turned
out this way
And though I hate to see you go
I know it must be so
Another lonely Valentine's Day
The dream is dead.

Johnny Kelly posted the following at www.typeonegative.net/news.php
How's everyone doing? I understand that many of you are a little uptight that there hasn't been a Type O update in quite sometime. A lot of you have been asking for updates regarding Peter's health. There really isn't much to report other than he's doing fine and his health is improving daily. There is still a lot of work to be done for the next record but we'll have more news about it in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for being patient.

Tom Cruise told SCI FI Wire that he has pulled out of a proposed Iron Man movie. "It's not happening. Not with me," Cruise told reporters during a break in filming on the set of his current movie, War of the Worlds, in Piru, Calif. "They ... came to me at a certain point, and you know, when I do something, I want to do it right. And, you know, if I commit to something, it has to be done in a way that I know it's going to be something special. And that ... as it was lining up, it just didn't feel to me like it was going to work."
Cruise had been attached to the on-again, off-again film adaptation of the Marvel Comics series. But he said that he's no longer involved. "I need to be able to make decisions and make the film as great as it can be, and it just didn't go down that road that way," he said. He added: "I've never just made a movie to make a movie. I've always made them because I really was interested in the story. I wanted to make that kind of picture and see what it would take, and it was an adventure for me. For that, it just wasn't panning out. So far. You know, as of yet."

WWW- "BLACK Hawk Down" star Tom Sizemore has been thrown in jail after being caught trying to cheat on a drug test by using a fake penis contraption.
On Thursday, Los Angeles Judge Antonio Baretto ordered Sizemore's arrest because of the failed test, a violation of his probation on a domestic violence conviction involving ex Heidi Fleiss in 2003. Deputy City Attorney Robert Cha told "Celebrity Justice" that officials caught Sizemore using a plastic penis, attached to a pair of men's underwear, that held a container of clean urine. Apparently the actor has tried a similar ruse in the past. Baretto told Sizemore, who says he's destitute and living in a garage in Whittier, Calif., that his drug use is "out of control" and set bail at $25,000. Sizemore, who's been trying to get permission to go to Cambodia to make a new movie, tried to elicit sympathy by claiming he's about to become a father. It didn't work.

Arthur Miller Wrote Until His Death
Source: The Associated Press
NEW YORK - To the end of his life, Arthur Miller was working on new material, and thinking about the past.
His last completed work of fiction, the short story "Beavers," appears in the current issue of Harper's and tells of a man who contemplates killing a beaver on his property and comes to reflect on his own life. "He had not believed in his death," Miller wrote. "He was young and immortal to himself."
Miller was also working on an anthology with the Library of America, compiling his diaries for a planned book and collaborating with producer David Reichenthal for a London revival of "Death of a Salesman," which will go on in May.
Another short story by Miller, who died Thursday night at age 89, will appear in the next issue of the Southwest Review, a literary magazine based at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. "The Turpentine Still" is a 16,000-word story, set mostly in Haiti, about a Miller-esque character who encounters a dying expatriate and comes to think of his own legacy and "what you leave behind," according to Southwest Review managing editor Jennifer Cranfill.
Cranfill said Friday that Miller was very involved in the editing process and remarkably "willing to work with us and make changes." Only when writing about himself did a more insistent side emerge.
"At the back of our magazine, we always include short descriptions of each contributor and what they've written," Cranfill said. "Arthur Miller gave us a list of everything he had done. It was about half a page, and he even added a couple of things he had forgotten about.

The Man-Thing movie, set to debut on Sci Fi Channel on April 30, brings the Marvel character to life using various creative processes.
"From the outset, Man-Thing was intended to be a prosthetic, CG-enhanced creature," Marvel's Ari Arad told The Continuum recently. "So there was a great deal of R&D."
There's positional stuff happening on location, on the set, but at the same time the stuff you don't currently see in camera was always engineered to be enhanced by digital effects. So when you see the movie, hopefully the line is pretty blurry. It's not an all-CG creature."

* Ted Sallis and the Nexus of All Realties are both part of the film's story, although not as central elements.
* One of the victims of Man-Thing in the film is a character named Steve Gerber.

Dark Sky Films, a new label from MPI Media Group, announces their first DVD release, Jim Van Bebber's "The Manson Family" on April 26, 2005. Bonus materials on the unrated DVD include theatrical trailers and a gallery of still photos, along with a second disc that contains an interview with Charles Manson, along with two documentaries.
One, "The Van Bebber Family," includes new interviews with the film's cast and crew, telling the story of the movie's lengthy production: it began in 1988 as a movie called "Charlie's Family," and Van Bebber's attempts to find the funding to complete the movie gave rise to rumors that the director was doing everything from flipping burgers at Wendy's to relying on armed robbery. The second documentary, "In the Belly of the Beast," features Van Bebber and other independent filmmakers at the FanTasia Festival in Montreal. The Marvel Comic adaptation, which shoots in Melbourne from Monday, tells the story of a motorcyclist who makes a pact with dark forces, gets double-crossed and battles the bad guys to save the woman he loves.
It stars Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider, Wes Bentley as his nemesis, Blackheart. Eva Mendes also has a role.
Former Stingers actor Daniel Frederiksen has, we hear, landed a major role co-starring with Nicolas Cage in big-budget action movie Ghost Rider. Frederiksen, who completed filming on Stingers in August, made it through an extensive two-month audition process and will play a water demon, Wallow, alongside two other Australians, Laurence Breuls (Black Rock, Marriage Acts) and Matthew Wilkinson (Mission Impossible II, Two Hands).
Matt Long, who stars as Jack in The WB's "Jack & Bobby," is in talks to play a younger version of the title character played by Nicolas Cage in Columbia Pictures' Ghost Rider, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Cage play the lead role of a former motorcycle stuntman named Johnny Blaze who agrees to let his body become host to a vengeful spirit -- becoming a bike-riding demon in the process -- to secure the safety of his true love, to be played by Eva Mendes.
Long would play a young Johnny, who makes the deal with the devil. Also starring are Wes Bentley and Sam Elliott. Mark Steven Johnson is directing and wrote the latest draft of the script. Shane Salerno wrote the original draft.

With "Hide and Seek" opening in Australia on February 10th, director John Polson and star Famke Janssen talked to Australian TV show "Today". Janssen confirmed that she's done filming "Nip/Tuck" and will next be shooting X-Men 3.
While her character, Jean Grey, met a certain fate in X2: X-Men United, Famke previously said that "Dark Phoenix is part of that script... she's a big part of it."
Who is Jean Grey?
Well, according to the firecracker Jubilation Lee, Jean is the "denmother" of all mutants. But Jean Grey is so much more than that. Jean is beautiful, passionate, heroic -- but she also has dark sides: a passion for the wild things life can offer, and a quite disturbing lust for power...
Jean has been part of the X-Men ever since the very first issue was published in 1963. But her story begins even before that...
Jean grew up in Annadale-on-Hudson, New York. She was the youngest of two daughters, and greatly loved by her parents John and Elaine Grey. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Jean was ten years old. She was playing with her best friend, Anne, near the street, when Anne suddenly rushed out in the street, and was hit by a car. Jean held the dying Anne in her arms, when she suddenly found herself inside Anne's head. Jean was inside Anne's mind when she died.
This trauma was caused by Jean's awakening telepathic powers. Not knowing it, Jean was a mutant, a person born with an anomaly in his/hers genetic structure which leads to a development of fantastic powers when s/he reaches puberty.
Being only ten years old Jean was not mature enough to handle her growing powers. To keep herself from growing mad, due to all the voices she heard in her head, Jean shut herself off from the rest of the world.

If Janet Jackson's Super Bowl transgression was titillating the audience, then Paul McCartney's was boring the audience, according to viewers who lodged email complaints with the Federal Communications Commission in the wake of Sunday's big game.
A year after the FCC logged more than 500,000 complaints over Jackson's exposed breast at the Super Bowl halftime show, the governmental watchdog had received exactly two complaints by Monday afternoon over McCartney's fully clothed set.
In both cases, viewers complained of being "bored" by McCartney's 12-minute, four-song showcase of Beatles and Wings classics, including "Hey, Jude," FCC spokeswoman Rosemary Kimball said Monday.
Boring or not (and some TV writers did not disagree with that assessment), McCartney's performance was heavily TiVo'd, registering 5 percent more viewers than last year's Jackson fiasco, according to the replay-device company, and heavily watched.
The Super Bowl (halftime show included) had its usual hold on the TV nation, with 86.1 million watching the New England Patriots-Philadelphia Eagles football contest on Fox. That's down 4 percent from last year.
As an entertainment event, critics found the Patriots' 24-21 win over the Eagles as methodical and plodding as the musical acts and commercials.
Daily Variety likened McCartney's efforts to "damage control for last year's Janet Jackson incident." Still, wrote Brian Lowry, "Sir Paul delivered."
The New York Times' Jon Pareles noted that McCartney did manage to perform an unexpurgated version of "Get Back," complete with its references to "California grass" and crossdressing, with the NFL's blessing. "What was once mildly risqué is now merely droll," he wrote.
In USA Today, Michael Hiestand observed that the halftime show "returned to its traditional role--something that sits well with chips and dip."
The ads, which took almost as much heat last year as Jackson, also went down easier. Participants in USA Today's annual ranking of Super Bowl commercials sounded grateful for the lack of spots about four-hour erections and horses passing gas.
A Bud Light commercial featuring a pilot jumping out of skydiving plane in pursuit of a six-pack of the beer was the survey's top-rated commercial; Napster's lone Super Bowl entry, a spot comparing its service to iTunes, was the lowest-rated.
Commercials teasing would-be blockbuster movies received middling responses, per USA Today's data. Will Smith's Hitch was the highest-rated among the film spots; Warner Bros.' Batman Begins teaser the lowest-rated.
CareerBuilder.com, the job-search site, scored big with three spots featuring chimps--the commercials ranked fourth, fifth and six in the newspaper's survey.
Web builder GoDaddy.com's spoof on the Jackson wardrobe malfunction hung in the middle of the pack in the USA Today rankings. At the FCC, it was the undisputed number one.
No commercial or broadcast moment prompted more complaints--eight--than GoDaddy.com's, according to Kimball. (All told, the FCC recorded just 33.)
Also-rans in the complaint department included: Cialis (five viewers had a beef with the game's lone erectile-dysfunction sponsor); Fox announcer Joe Buck (one viewer wanted him "removed" from the booth); and last year's halftime show (three viewers apparently were still reeling from Jackson's breast).
Kimball said the FCC received two thank yous from viewers who appreciated the toned-down proceedings.
Apparently, sometimes boring can be a good thing.

Even before they aired their Superbowl commercials, "Batman Begins" and "War of the Worlds" have been shaping up to be the biggest movies of the Summer season (SW3 earning the most is a given really). In an all too-crowded Summer slate, the June 17th weekend has been left all alone for the Caped Crusader to take audiences. "War of the Worlds" on the other hand was going head on with Fox's "Fantastic Four" comic book adaptation for the July 4th holiday weekend.
Now it seems Fox has backed off according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Murdoch-owned studio has shifted its schedule and pushed FF back a week to a July 8th release date, giving up the profitable holiday in favour of the following week which oddly enough is even more competitive with the Nicole Kidman/Will Ferrell comedy "Bewitched" and Kate Hudson thriller "Skeleton Key" both debuting in that position. Fox has decided to release the African-American coming of age story "Roll Bounce" in the July 1st slot, the small drama seen as counter-programming to the Spielberg sci-fi epic.
This isn't the only big move that's happened in the last day or two. Jim Carrey comedy "Fun with Dick and Jane" has left its June 24th position and been delayed a full six months to a December 21st post - Sony positioning it as a holiday comedy rather than a Summer one. This puts it head to head with "The Producers" remake and Jennifer Aniston/Kevin Costner comedy "Rumor Has It".
The Summer schedule has now eased up a little with better spacing between titles. However four weekends are still looking mighty crammed at the moment with May 6th, July 15th, July 29th and August 5th all seeing four or more major releases per week getting wide debuts. The biggest battle left at the moment looks like a fight between Ridley Scott's Crusades epic "Kingdom of Heaven", Jane Fonda/J-Lo comedy "Monster-in-Law" and the sci-fi comedy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Expect more release date shifts soon.

Debbie Rowe not allowed to communicate with kids except by mail.
Michael Jackson has more to worry about than his trial on charges of child molestation, as the singer's custody battle for his children is heating up.
Recently filed court documents reveal the nature of Jackson's confidentiality agreement with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, as well as how much she's fought to be part of her children's lives.
What Jackson's second ex-wife has been barred from doing, the documents say, is selling or giving interviews about "confidential information" regarding the singer and their two children, Paris and Prince. That includes paternity, Jackson's mental or physical condition, purported drug use, sexual behavior, the children's lifestyle, and their location, according to a declaration filed last month by Rowe's lawyer Iris Finsilver, who is asking the court to unseal the couple's original nondisclosure agreement on the basis that it does not contain confidential financial information, as Jackson's team claims.
While the October 1999 agreement doesn't include child-custody terms, it does say Rowe is not allowed to communicate with the children, Jackson or his representatives except to make travel arrangements or to send cards or letters to the children.
"What kind of man would fight so long, so hard, so expensive and so gut-wrenching [a] legal battle just so two minor children are prevented from even knowing their own mother?" Finsilver asks in the declaration, calling it ironic that Jackson has repeatedly claimed he's "never harmed any child."
Rowe did cede custody of the children in October 2001, but her lawyer says in the declaration that before Rowe agreed to terminate her parental rights, she "had many great difficulties in seeing her children for visitation periods with them." Finsilver also said the court has since tossed out Rowe's surrendering of her parental rights.
The couple have had a long string of court dates (see "Michael Jackson's Ex-Wife Asks Judge If She Can See Their Kids"), Finsilver wrote, complicated by Jackson's revolving door of legal teams who have stalled proceedings and also put incomplete and sometimes erroneous information into the court record.
"Truly, this case was an easy one to resolve last spring," Finsilver wrote. "Since Michael's new team came on board, this case has gone from one private judge to [family court] and the private family law judge, [arbitration], and now on to the court of appeal. Just this month, Michael has filed notice of appeal."
A hearing was scheduled Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, but the results are not yet public. Rowe has also been subpoenaed by Santa Barbara County prosecutors and is expected to be called to testify in Jackson's trial.
Calls to Jackson and Rowe's lawyers were not returned by press time.

Sam Raimi, who will oversee a remake of his first Evil Dead movie, told SCI FI Wire that he wants to reach an audience the first version never found. "We made the first Evil Dead, like, 25 years ago, and we feel like it's so long ago that it's time to bring it to a new crowd," Raimi said in an interview. "If we can find the right director with a great vision, we know that the script can be improved, and we know that the characters can be improved. The dialogue, the directing, can be improved."
Raimi said that he wants the proposed remake to enjoy the distribution and promotion his original never received. "Very few people saw the movie on the big screen," Raimi said. "So we'd love to see Evil Dead on the big screen. We only made about 200 prints, and it didn't even hit all the cities. It just played in some cities, so it's never really had a big theatrical experience."
The cult favorite Evil Dead movies were Raimi's first big breaks and the ones that put him on Hollywood's radar. But Raimi said that he wants to hand a new filmmaker the reins this time around and let him or her rework the material. "I wouldn't really want to put my paws all over it," Raimi said. "I'd want a new, young, hungry director who had a really dramatic vision to make a brand new picture of it. We think it's a fun, scary campfire story, and if we find the right director and the right script, and he had the right take on it, we think it would be a great picture to produce."

LAS VEGAS - Imagine Entertainment's new documentary, Inside Deep Throat, opens nationwide on Feb. 11 with an NC-17 rating.
Inside Deep Throat did their thing at Sundance," said Arrow Productions owner Raymond Pistol, who own's the copyright to the original, AVN Best Classic DVD Winner for 2005, Deep Throat. "We're seeing an increase of sales for our Special Edition DVD of Deep Throat, but it goes beyond that: I guess we're going to be running Deep Throat as a double feature (with Inside Deep Throat) across the country as well; either the MPAA-rated R version or the X-rated version of our movie, depending on each city's rules."
Pistol noted that there's quite a bit of interest in the documentary. "Even WorldNetDaily did a review," he said. "They excoriated the picture, of course, but it was a long excoriation. I figure if WorldNetDaily is writing about it, it's really getting big buzz. ABC just called me; they're wanting footage because they've got [Harry] Reems and some other people coming on there, and they're going to do a thing on it."
In fact, Joseph Farah, publisher of WorldNetDaily, concluded his article on the documentary with, "But the nightmare didn't end for Linda Susan Boreman [Linda Lovelace]. She's being victimized all over again – this time by so-called 'mainstream' Hollywood filmmakers still determined to cash in and persuade Americans it was all a big laugh."
Farah made reference to Boreman's book Ordeal, allegedly a recounting of her bad experiences in porn, which Boreman wrote at the urging of anti-porn feminists such as Andrea Dworkin and Katherine MacKinnon. However, as noted in Inside Deep Throat, director Gerard Damiano and several others in the Deep Throat crew attested that “Linda enjoyed working on the film, and at no time was forced to perform any sex acts.”
Pistol won't talk about his negotiations with Inside Deep Throat producer Brian Grazer for the Deep Throat footage that appears in the documentary, but he made it clear that the double bills aren't something that Imagine Entertainment has anything to do with.
"Actually, I'm not working in conjunction with them," Pistol assured. "Theater owners have called me up and said, 'Will you give us a print?' So this is the theater owners that are putting this together, not Imagine and not me. I got a call out of the blue. I mean, over the years, I've always had calls saying, 'Can you send us a print?' But it was never worthwhile to strike one for just one theater. But they're now talking about going from city to city with it, so now it's worthwhile."
Pistol said he could not give AVN.com a list of the cities where the double bill will play.
Arrow will be providing both R and XXX versions of the film, and apparently very little actually had to be cut out to get the less-restrictive MPAA rating. "If you think back," Pistol explained, "there wasn't all that much sex back in the '70s in movies, and so it winds up running 59 minutes. The X-rated version is 61 to 65, depending on which version you get, and we added footage to our Special Edition so it winds up being 90."
Reports are that in the 33 years since its release, Deep Throat has earned over $600 million.

Fox News reports that Will Smith's "Hitch" co-star Eva Mendes has just signed to play a role in writer/director Mark Steven Johnson's Ghost Rider. Nicolas Cage plays the title role in the Columbia Pictures comic book adaptation, with Wes Bentley playing baddie Blackheart.
The Marvel Comics property centers on a motorcyclist who makes a pact with dark forces, gets double-crossed and battles the bad guys to protect the woman (Mendes perhaps?) he loves.
The movie is being produced by Michael De Luca, Avi Arad, Gary Foster and Ari Arad. Johnson rewrote a Shane Salerno script. Shooting begins this month in Australia.
'Robert' also tells us rumor has it that Steve Johnson's Edge FX had an opportunity to do designs for Ghost Rider and Australian company Dalchem (model, special effects, and prosthetics specialists) are working on the film.
He also mentioned that Halon Entertainment are doing work on the film:
From what I understand the fx team are using the very latest Maya software from Alias. Spider-Man 1, 2 used it and almost every major feature film uses Maya. Here's a link to video featurette explaining how Sony Imageworks used Maya to create the fx in Spider-Man.

During "Boogeyman" promotions, Sam Raimi and producer Robert Tapert have talked in-depth about the future of the "Evil Dead" franchise and what's going on in regards to both the sequel, and the remake.
Raimi confirmed to Bloody Disgusting that he will be directing and producing "Evil Dead 4", which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original". Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved.
Talking with Coming Soon, they confirmed the remake is almost certainly not going to be a PG-13 (ala "The Grudge" & "Boogeyman") and due to Bruce's insistence there will be no character called Ash. The aim with it is "Rob and I would try to get a young director with brand new ideas with his own cast and his own take on the thing" says Raimi who confirms that as of right now they're "waiting to find the right director for the project, that thinks he can really bring something new...the goal of this director should be to terrify the audience in a very intense, and merciless way". If they don't find someone, they would "put it on hold. I don't think we'd abandon it, but we won't make it unless we have a really good script and a really great director, somebody we feel is just right for it".
Wouldn't people get confused if the two films came out close to each other? Raimi told LatinoReview - "I think the fans are really smart. I don't think they'd be confused. I'd like to make a part four. There's this very small audience for Evil Dead IV, and if we ever make a movie called Evil Dead IV, which I'd like to make with Rob at some point and starring Bruce Campbell, I'm not saying there's a million people, but there's 100,000 people that will know exactly what it is and that's about as big as the crowd is, honestly. It's not a giant crowd. They're a great crowd". Tapert realized that the sequel might have to be Army of Darkness II, since Universal produced the most recent sequel.
The guys also confirmed they're working on "The Grudge 2 script reusing Sarah Michelle Gellar's character but no word yet either way on whether the actress will return.

Phil Spector, who will stand trial for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, has now been sued by Clarkson's mother for wrongful death.
The civil suit, filed Thursday in the Los Angeles Superior Court by Donna Clarkson, charges Spector with negligence and battery, and says the producer "grabbed, hit, fought with and restrained" the actress before shooting and killing her, according to Reuters.
In the civil suit, Clarkson's mother is seeking monetary compensation for the death of her daughter.
An attorney for Clarkson said in a statement that the Clarkson family had planned to wait to bring the civil action forward until there was "some resolution with regard to the criminal proceedings," but added that the statute of limitations for the civil action to be filed would expire on February 3, 2005.
"Phil did not cause the death of this woman," said Spector's lead attorney, Bruce Cutler, according to Reuters. "He's not criminally responsible and he's not civilly responsible, either. But I'm not surprised they filed a suit for money — that seems to be de rigueur nowadays."
Spector has pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering the B-movie actress, and has claimed that she committed suicide by shooting herself in the foyer of his Alhambra, California, home on February 3, 2003. Grand-jury transcripts obtained by The Los Angeles Times in January revealed that Spector initially told police he shot Clarkson by "accident" (see "Phil Spector Told Police He Shot Actress By 'Accident,' According To Transcripts").
Spector was indicted on murder charges on September 27, 2003 (see "Grand Jury Indicts Phil Spector On Murder Charges"), and a Los Angeles Superior Court judge is reportedly expected to set a trial date later this month.
He is currently free on $1 million bail.

Maybe "knocking it up" to an NC-17 will help some of you who hated Seed of Chucky like it better. The unrated DVD was canceled the other day and most suspected it was because of the low turnout in theaters- guess again. The plan is to unleash a NC-17 version of the film! Read on for details...
Fangoria writes:
"What’s really going on," he (Don Mancini) tells us, "is that they’ve decided to release [the more extreme cut] as an NC-17 instead of unrated, in addition to the theatrical version. Because, without giving too much away, we all believe that the NC-17 label much more accuratlely reflects what is contained in the additional material. Beyond that, I don’t want to reveal anything, but it’s just really outrageous—taking a cue from the title, you can speculate as to what it involves."
Using the controversial NC-17 tag is a bold and largely untried move, and Mancini acknowledges, "This is all pretty new to me, this whole arena, because this is the first movie I’ve worked on where they’ve done this sort of thing. But it’s certainly not a case of the studio not having confidence in the movie—quite the contrary, they’re very enthusiastic about this version of the film. They just felt that as a marketing hook, going with the NC-17 would be a lot more fun."
And if the experiment proves to be a success, perhaps the video returns for SEED (which underperformed at the U.S. box office but has found greater success in Europe, with the Australian release next) could inspire a further continuation of the Chucky franchise. Mancini reveals that plans for another sequel aren’t happening "in any substantial way, right now, though there are always rumblings. I’m writing my new script, and [producers] David [Kirschner] and Corey [Sienega] are working on other projects. I’m sure we’ll get to one eventually, but right now we’re not moving forward on it." And as for that current writing project, "It’s kind of a PG-13-rated horror/fantasy in the vein of POLTERGEIST," making it very different from the visceral SEED. Still, "I like to think that in its own way, it will push some boundaries. It’s just a different genre; it’s not a splatter film and it’s not campy. Instead of filling the screen with blood and gore, it’s more fantastical.

Dimension Films' teen Werewolf movie Cursed, which received a very unrewarding PG-13 rating recently. In Wes Craven's new film a werewolf is loose in Los Angeles and changes the lives of three young adults, who, after being mauled by the beast, learn they must kill their attacker if they hope to change their fate. The film stars Christina Ricci, Shannon Elizabeth, Scott Foley, Omar Epps, Kristina Anapau, Scott Baio, James Brolin, Illeana Douglas, Jesse Eisenberg, Robert Forster and Judy Greer...
It is a moonlit night in Los Angeles, when something lurking in the shadows causes their car to suddenly swerve off the road, a teenaged brother and his career-driven sister emerge relatively unscathed, but forever changed by the accident. Suddenly, the siblings find themselves blessed with increased physical strength, heightened sensibilities and undeniable allure to everyone around them. But, what if what happened to them that night wasn't just an accident and what seemed like fate was really something more? It is only a matter of time before Ellie (Christina Ricci) and Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg "Rodger Dodger") can no longer control these impulses because their newfound power comes with a price that they never expected to pay and a mystery that only they can solve.

In an interview with Now Playing Magazine, Director Sam Raimi confirmed a villain has finally been selected for the third movie but won't let on as to who just yet:
"I'm not supposed to [talk about the villain]. When Sony Pictures decides to release the villain they do it in conjunction with Marvel Comic books. Avi Arad is the president there and my producer, and they're really the ones that decide how they're going to present this to the fans of the comic and they love doing it with a lot of drama and a big splash. So they consult with me, but it's really something... they really want to please the fans and do it in a very particular way."
So how did he eventually decide? "When I worked on the story with my brother Ivan, I determined what journey I felt was most important for Peter Parker to take. He's a young man so this is a coming of age story and he's on a journey to becoming a more responsible adult - in each of the movies...
I tried to determine with my brother which human faults would be displayed in this particular story that Peter Parker would have to exhibit, and then recognize that he had that fault, and then try to grow and develop as a human being as somebody who could overcome that fault. So once [we] determined Peter Parker's journey, we tried to determine a villain that best presented some aspect of that fault so that he could literally stand in the way of the growth of Peter Parker."

By KERY MURAKAMI for the SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER
Flip the channels after midnight, past Nick at Nite and the infomercials. If you stumble upon the Seattle area's public-access channel, you might see a man and a woman having sex in a hot tub, followed by another man and woman doing it in a kitchen.
Little is left to the imagination. In fact, nothing is.
Mike Aivaz, whose porn show may be kicked off the air by the Seattle Community Access Network, stands in front of the SCAN studio.
Now questions are being raised again over whether the graphic clips taken from porn movies should be allowed to appear on public-access television. The Seattle Community Access Network, which runs the public-access station for King and south Snohomish counties, has warned Mike Aivaz that his show "Mike Hunt TV" will be yanked off the air if he does not stop airing "the presentation of actual sex acts."
Aivaz says that's censorship, particularly on a channel meant to give access to the airwaves for programming outside the mainstream.
An appeal is scheduled tomorrow night before SCAN's three-member content review board. One member says it will be a difficult decision.
"This is one of the most discussed issues in the United States," said board member Harlan Snyder. "When does pornography cross the line and become obscene? It makes you search your soul.
"It brings to mind the saying, 'I disagree with what you say, but I'll defend with my life your right to say it.' "
Ann Suter, SCAN's executive director, recommended the warning after receiving complaints from viewers. She said she's uncomfortable with "being the arbiter for community standards."
But Suter said federal law bars SCAN from broadcasting obscenity, and she needs to protect the network.
It's not the first time the issue has come up. In 1998, TCI Cable, which then carried the local public-access station, threw another pornographic show produced by T.J. Williamson off the air. Settlement discussions with the American Civil Liberties Union allowed the show back on the air and led to the creation of the content review board.
Other shows, including Aivaz's, have been taken off the air, but only for set periods of time. Suter and the board review shows on a case-by-case basis when complaints are made.
Suter said she agreed with the most recent complaints after she reviewed the program. The station does not screen shows before they air. In part, Suter said the sex scenes fall beyond acceptable community standards.
Graphic sex is "not the kind of thing you'd expect to see broadcast in a public park," she said.
Aivaz, however, argues the scenes are in keeping with community standards, noting the movies are available in any adult video store, and the show's air time protects children from watching it.
Suter released the e-mail messages she's received from viewers since Aivaz began talking about the warning on the air, but she has withheld the writers' names.
Most argued that those who find the show offensive should not watch it and questioned Suter's ability to decide what can be on television.
One wrote: "Defining what is obscene is very subjective. I personally find most of TV to be obscene. The amount of violence on television is very disturbing to me. The shows that 'Mike Hunt TV' has portrayed are nothing more than simple sexual contact. The principles behind a community access channel (are) to respond to EVERYONE'S viewing choices going beyond that of 'normal' points of view."
Another e-mail message said: "The videos he broadcasts on his hourlong program are offensive, plain and simple. He said he has a right to broadcast that material. He said the material isn't offensive because he finds it highly 'spiritual.' He said his broadcasts give his viewers the freedom of choice. I think he's full of it."
Aivaz, 42, appears in the show, sometimes clothed, sometimes naked, with long wavy brown hair and a wild, thick beard. He lights a pipe typically used to smoke marijuana.
In an interview last week, he appeared at times defiant, but also a bit weary of being Mike Hunt.
He said he worked for a time as a waiter but now works only sporadically as a Web designer.
Largely he devotes his life to splicing together scenes from porn movies and taping short segments at home. Last fall he spent much of his time on the air ranting against President Bush.
"Probably the worst thing you could say to me is 'You can't do that,' " he said. "The whole point of the channel is free speech, so that every member of the community can get on their soapbox and say whatever they want, as long as it's not obscene."
He said he hasn't looked for work partly because he'd have to shave off his beard and cut his hair. A clean-cut Mike Aivaz wouldn't be the same Mike Hunt on television.
"It would be the end of Mike Hunt," he said, "It would be like a legend disappearing, like Sasquatch in the Northwest."
However, he acknowledged he's begun thinking of looking for a job.
Aivaz said he's spoken on the air about giving the show up, saying he'd proved his point and now it was somebody else's turn to carry it on.
"I'm broke," he said -- and, he confided, a little lonely. He said finding a job wouldn't "just be for the money. It's the camaraderie."
"All this is a lot of stress for me," he said.

DEVILDRIVER, the Santa Barbara, California-based band featuring former COAL CHAMBER singer Dez Fafara, have posted the following message on their official web site:
"This past Sunday (Jan. 30), tracking on the upcoming DEVILDRIVER CD, 'The Fury of Our Maker's Hand', officially concluded. In fact, the last track to have vocals laid down was the title track itself. Fourteen songs in all were recorded.
"Not knowing that it could snow in Texas, today (Feb. 1) Dez woke up seeing white, and is currently waiting for a flight on a layover in Phoenix en route to Santa Barbara. 'Feels good to be holding a full record,' tells Dez from the Phoenix airport. 'Going to go home and listen to it tonight relentlessly with Anahstasia.'
"The band would like to send thanks out to producer Colin Richardson for being such a wonderful guy during the recording of this CD, and everybody at Sonic Ranch (Tony, Justin, Bobby) for making their stay pleasant and giving DD a great atmosphere to create their art.
"Mixing of 'The Fury of Our Maker's Hand' will begin later this month.
"The full band will convene again in a couple days to start rehearsing live. As for touring, all the details — when, where, with who — is being figured out now...nothing is in stone as of yet."

BRISBANE, Australia - A woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to selling on eBay three nonexistent cases of Duff brand beer — the favorite of cartoon character Homer Simpson.
Tara Edith Woodford, 28, pleaded guilty in the Mackay Magistrates Court in northern Queensland state to three charges of dishonestly gaining money by false pretenses.
Prosecutor Gavin Burnett told the court Woodford was paid a total of 1,951 Australian dollars (U.S. $1,511) by three separate buyers after advertising the bogus beer on the eBay Internet auction site.
Duff is the beer brand of choice for Homer Simpson and his barfly friends in the animated U.S. television series The Simpsons.
In the mid-1990s, two breweries released their own "Duff Beer" in Australia until legal action by the creators of The Simpsons and the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. took the beer off the market. Fox has a policy of refusing to license The Simpson's merchandising for products that would be detrimental to children.
Duff beer is now a collector's item and cases can sell for as much as A$1,000 (U.S. $774) on eBay, according to Lorraine Gledhill, the treasurer of the National Beer Can Collectors Club.
Buyers paid money into Woodford's bank account, but contacted police when they never received the beer.
Woodford was caught because she listed her correct name and address on the auction site, the court was told.
Woodford's lawyer Phillip Moore said she committed the scam to buy Christmas presents and clothes for her four children.
Woodford was placed on 18 months' probation, and was ordered to reimburse the money and undergo counseling.

And The 2005 Dubious Acheivement Award Goes to A&E - MK
It was an offer HBO couldn't refuse.
A&E is reportedly anteing up a record $2.5 million per episode for syndication rights to The Sopranos.
The basic cable channel whacked TNT for the chance to show edited reruns of the Emmy-winning Mob saga beginning in fall 2006, after The Sopranos' sixth and final season concludes on HBO.
A&E suits are hoping that in the long run, the deal makes them look like wiseguys, not saps. After all, the first four seasons of The Sopranos are already available on DVD. The fifth will be released later this year.
Additionally A&E will likely clean up the sex, violence and bad language that contributed to grittiness of the show and helped make the amoral Mafia family drama become such a big hit. Basic cable is not subject to the same federal decency standards as network television, but A&E, unlike the premium pay channel HBO, still has to deal with the concerns of advertisers.
A&E president Abbe Raven told the New York Times that his network would collaborate with HBO on "tailor-made" episodes that "meet our broadcast standards." HBO has already provided some help in that area. Since the show's launch, HBO made sure producers shot some scenes with alternative, tamer dialogue--not necessarily with any thought to syndication standards, but to make the series suitable for in-flight viewing. Early reports suggest A&E might broadcast the edited version in prime time, followed by the unedited one in late night.
A&E need only look across the dial to TBS to see that edited HBO shows work in syndication. TBS, which paid $1 million per episode for Sex and the City, has successfully aired a sanitized version of that series. Raven clears hopes that, even snipped, Tony Soprano and his gang of goodfellas may provide a similar boost for A&E.
"The Sopranos is a show that changed the television landscape," Raven stated. "It's a perfect match for us."
By shelling out $2.5 million per show, A&E's Sopranos deal is a record for a drama in syndication, topping the $1.9 million Bravo and USA paid last December for the NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
A&E, owned jointly by Disney, Hearst and General Electric, is available in 88 million homes, more than double the reach of HBO. While the network confirmed that an agreement for The Sopranos had been struck, neither buyer nor seller would reveal financial details. The New York Times and the Hollywood trades reported the $2.5 million sum, which, with 65 episodes done and 10 left for the swan-song season, computes to around $162.5 million for the first five seasons and at least $25 million more for the sixth.
In a concerted hunt for the young adult market favored by advertisers A&E's traditionally higher-brow arts and entertainment image has given way recently to eclectic programming that includes reality shows like Dog the Bounty Hunter and Growing Up Gotti, and rerun network dramas such as CSI: Miami and--scheduled for later this year--24.

When Warner Bros. Pictures announced a movie adaptation of the beloved The Dukes of Hazzard, some fans were pumped, some were nostalgic, but many more were terrified. After all, for every one good adaptation of a TV show--Brady Bunch, say--there are four embarrassments like Starsky & Hutch.
But this is an excellent sign: One of these skeptical fans was Burt Reynolds, who said that if The Dukes of Hazzard is in any way like Starsky & Hutch, he would refuse to do the movie. The studio listened. When he was convinced that the creators were treating the movie seriously, even faithfully, he agreed to do the film, signing on as Boss Hogg.
Joining Reynolds are Sean Williams Scott as Bo, Johnny Knoxville as Luke, and even Willie Nelson (Willie frikkin' Nelson!) as Uncle Jesse. And, most importantly, Jessica Simpson plays the part of Daisy Duke, shimmying into the super-short-shorts that every guy drooled about for the entire '80s.
I had a chance to visit the set for the movie, which was filmed in the wooded outskirts of Baton Rouge, LA. The creators stressed that they're shooting for a tone that's a mixture of action and comedy, the comparison they used was Lethal Weapon and Beverly Hills Cop, which, if true, bodes quite well for the film. They wanted to make a film that was the anti-Starsky & Hutch, making sure that it wasn't campy and not a spoof, but more of homage to Smokey And The Bandit, Blues Brother and The Cannonball Run.
The upcoming movie will feature all the usual characters (including the best character of all, the General Lee, which looks fantastic), and stay true to the spirit of the show, but it takes place in modern times. For instance, Bo and Luke have visions of NASCAR glory. But the important elements of the TV show are all there. Bo and Luke give Boss Hogg hell, they have to save the family farm, and they try to track down a treasure, of sorts--a lost Civil War payroll.
On the set, I interviewed the cast (including Jessica Simpson, who, despite her image, is actually quite articulate), Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Producer Bill Gerber and director Jay Chandrasekhar. And in the weeks prior to the movie's release date (July 29th), I'll be giving you reports with all the goodies. The "Daisy Dukes." Q&As with the talent. A dinner conversation with Burt Reynolds. And some shockingly cool stunts that involve the General Lee. That's all going to be coming soon
