Available on DVD July 12, 2005 Through Music Video Distributors
Oaks, PA- Music Video Distributors and Devo Inc. are pleased to announce the home viewing release of the DEVO – Live 1980 for worldwide distribution on DVD.
This concert is testament that DEVO was much more than an MTV band, they were a brilliant live act. This DVD includes a full length concert from 1980 supporting their breakthrough album Freedom of Choice. This is DEVO at their very peak.
Although hard to fathom nowadays, there was a time when there was no MTV. In fact, rock music visuals on TV were usually delegated strictly to the weekend, when you had to burn the midnight oil to catch Saturday Night Live, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, the Midnight Special, or Friday's. And mostly, it was either straight-ahead live performance footage, or else blah lip-synched stuff, with the musicians playing to an empty arena on the afternoon of a show. This all changed with DEVO.
Even if you missed catching DEVO live and ‘in the flesh,’ you had a decent chance to see them on the tube, as they were one of the few acts to appear on all of the aforementioned programs. The only problem was that bands were only given a handful of songs to perform on these shows. That’s where Live 1980 comes in handy. It’s becoming rare nowadays for full-length shows to have survived from this era, but that’s what this DVD is all about – a full-length live set, just as Whip It was beginning to make DEVO a household word. And while all the group’s hits up to this point are included, hardcore spuds will enjoy such run-throughs of the obscurities It’s Not Right, Pink Pussycat, and Swelling Itching Brain.

Lions Gate Films' Man-Thing is finally set to premiere this Saturday, April 30th, at 7/6C on the Sci-Fi Channel, but should you tune in? They say, "All who see Man-Thing know fear... and all who feel fear burn at his touch, however spoiler reviews say the movie has no heart. "If you're determined to check it out, why not wait until June 14th when it hits DVD uncut. Man-Thing stars Jack Thompson, Rawiri Paratene, Matt Le Nevez, Rachel Taylor and Steve Bastoni.
Personally, Man-Thing was one of my favorite comics so despite what critics have to say, I'm willing to give it a whirl. (I just hope it's better than the 'un-watchable' Puppetmaster VS Demonic Toys, which I waited a decade and a half for.)- AZ

Stan Lee's Spidey cents are tingling big time.
The 82-year-old comic-book mastermind has engineered a massive settlement with Marvel Enterprises that brings an end to a $10 million lawsuit in which Lee accused the company of shutting him out of unpaid profits stemming from the big-screen success of his famed webslinger and other Marvel Comics-based films.
The suit, filed in November 2002 in U.S. District Court, contended that Lee's deal with the company gave the him a share of the earnings generated from films and TV shows featuring Marvel's comic creations.
In January, a judge ruled in Lee's favor, declaring that he was entitled to a 10 percent stake in all of Marvel's profits since November 1998. That's not chump change, considering the two Spider-Man movies alone generated upwards of $100 million in total revenue for the company.
Marvel initially appealed the decision, but in the end decided to pay up.
No word exactly how much cash Marvel will be shelling out. But on Thursday, the media giant reported that profits for the first quarter of this year would take a hit thanks to a $10 million one-time charge "for the successful resolution of all past and future payments claimed by Mr. Lee to be due under an agreement with Marvel."
"Stan is one of the founders of today's comic book industry," said Marvel attorney, John Turitzin, in a statement. "We are pleased with the settlement and are happy to have resolved all of our disputes with him."
Reps for Lee could not immediately be reached for comment.
Lee has previously said victory would be bittersweet, considering his key role in making Marvel the powerhouse it is today.
Stan the Man began his comic book career in 1939 at age 17 as an errand boy for publisher Martin Goodman. He served as writer, editor, art director, head writer and publisher for Marvel in the 1960s before retiring from active duty and becoming chairman emeritus.
Along the way, he gave birth to a slew of superheros, such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, X-Men and Daredevil, which not only became pop-culture icons, but also have proven to be superhuman at the box office.
Marvel has grown into a veritable Hollywood machine in the past decade, with Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, X-Men, X2, Hulk, Daredevil and Elektra grossing a combined $2.7 billion in worldwide ticket sales. And more is on the way with Spider-Man 3 and X-Men 3 now in preproduction, and the long-awaited movie adaptation of the Fantastic Four due out in July. Another classic character, Iron Man, is also in the works at New Line Cinema.
With litigation in the Lee case over, Marvel is now aiming to boost its bottom line. The company sealed a deal with Paramount Pictures that will see the studio distribute a slate of films and provide up to $525 million in financing for the flicks Marvel produces. It also allows the company to build its own film library.

Nine Inch Nails' sold-out North American tour is just starting, and "The Hand That Feeds" — the first single off their upcoming With Teeth — is hitting radio stations now, but that doesn't mean that Trent Reznor and his cronies aren't already thinking ahead.
They've already shot the video for Teeth's second single, "Only," working with a guy whose eye for the dark and dank might even surpass Reznor's: director David Fincher.
Fincher — famous for the bleak and brutal flicks "Seven" and "Fight Club" — hasn't made a video since A Perfect Circle's "Judith" in 2000, but it's not like he's a newbie to the format: He's also directed clips for Madonna ("Express Yourself") and Aerosmith ("Janie's Got a Gun"). But those videos are walks in the sunshine compared to his recent work, and it's that dark side — combined with a whole bunch of high-tech frippery — that he's bringing to "Only."
According to a spokesperson for Fincher, the new video almost entirely comprises computer-graphics-enhanced shots, and the director developed a brand new CG concept for the clip. Points of reference can be found in the CG shots from "Fight Club," including a scene that looks inside the head of Edward Norton's character. As with most of Fincher's work, the video for "Only" relies heavily on post-production, and as a result, the clip is not expected to be completed until June.
The video's blend of technology and emotion seems like a perfect match for the new NIN album and now fans can decide for themselves, because NIN are streaming the entire With Teeth album via a special player on Web site/makeshift dating service MySpace.com. Just cruise over to the band's page on MySpace.com and have a listen to "Only" — or any other track on the album — before it hits stores on May 3.
Nine Inch Nails' North American tour kicks off Wednesday (April 27) in San Francisco and runs through a May 31 date in San Diego.

The following message has been posted at the official KISS web site, KissOnline.com:
"Last August, the attorneys for KISS obtained an injunction against the sale of counterfeit KISS merchandise and seized bootleg videos of KISS concerts that were being offered for sale at a KISS Expo in North Carolina. Our attorneys (Ray Scott and William Randolph), following up on that seizure, obtained last week a permanent injunction against defendant Roy Damm and damages awarded to Kiss Catalog of $7,000,000, plus attorneys' fees.
"We hope that this judgment sends a clear message that KISS will not tolerate being ripped off by counterfeiters and bootleggers. This is also a rip-off of KISS fans who have a right to expect that when they spend their hard earned money for KISS merchandise and videos, they are getting high-quality, authorized KISS products. When you purchase bootleg videos, including bootleg DVDs marketed under the KissVision label, we ALL lose. This is our $7,000,000 warning to those who are selling counterfeit and bootleg KISS goods, that they risk the same fate as Roy Damm. We have directed the KISS attorneys to continue protecting KISS' rights as aggressively as allowed. No slaps on the wrist. We will find you and we will take you out."

Adult film stars Shy Love and Kelly Erikson are in the midst of gearing up for their spring feature dance tour. The breathtaking brunette and the buxom blond who met at this years AVN Expo had both been interested in performing as feature dance acts but were searching for something that would have more impact on their fans then a solo act. A dual feature dance act was decided upon featuring a little something for everyone, blond and brunette, Latin and Caucasian. We proudly present and introduce you to Shy Love & Kelly Erikson are Heaven & Hell.
The show is a highly stylized, burlesque style performance that is sexy yet energized. Each set has been perfectly planned out in regards to music, costuming, choreography and overall effect. Months of imagination, thought, time, blood, sweat and tears have all gone into the rehearsal process and pre-screenings of the performances by critics are yielding very positive comments.
“I remember feature acts like former Vivid Girl Dyanna Lauren and thought her shows were amazing, the audience response incredible. Most of the acts I see today are very basic and I thought it was time to bring back a more interesting approach especially with these two,” explains show co-creator JJ when asked about the inspiration that stared the whole burlesque style concept.
Shy and Kelly who are excited to be performing comment “We want our fans to experience a well rounded, exciting show and get their monies worth. It’s not enough for us to look and perform like just an average dancer, we wanted creativity and style so our fans keep looking forward to coming back to see us every time we are in town.”
Heaven & Hell is the perfect way to describe these two performers and part of the mystique of the show is figuring out who is masquerading as heaven and who is hell.

MORTIIS' new single, "Decadent & Desperate", is currently at No. 41 on the U.K. single chart based on first-day sales, according to Earache Records. The single was released in two seven-inch vinyl and one CD digipack format, which contains various exclusive bonus tracks and remixes. The CD features "Decadent & Desperate" along with a new previously unreleased song entitled "Underdog" and "Gibber" (Gibbering Idiot Mix). The vinyl formats come in different poster bags. Vinyl 1 contains "Decadent & Desperate" and a live version of "Parasite God". The poster features artwork from the limited edition of "The Grudge" album. Vinyl 2 contains "Decadent & Desperate" and "Way Too Wicked" (Absinthium Mix) and comes with an exclusive band poster. The release follows last year's debut single, "The Grudge", which saw the band make their first-ever entry in the official U.K. singles chart.
MORTIIS kicked off the "Decadent & Desperate U.K. Tour" at Cardiff Barfly on April 19. Support on all dates comes from NFD (ex-FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM) and PANIC DHH. A video for "Decadent & Desperate" was recently completed in the U.K. with film and video director Adam Mason (MILLION DEAD, SIKTH, WINNEBAGO DEAL). The video is based on a dream sequence where Mortiis becomes a split personality and finds himself in a Victorian nightmare with members of the band, who portray his tormentors. Filming took place at the end of February over two nights in subzero temperatures at a disused RAF base. The shoot went off without a hitch, apart from the local constabulary despatching a helicopter and patrol cars to see what all the commotion was about. With their curiosity satisfied the police withdrew leaving the bemused band and crew to complete the shoot.
Meanwhile, work is still continuing on "Soul In A Hole", the forthcoming live DVD which was recorded at the London show on last year's "Unlimited Grudge" European tour and is set for release in May.

Arghh! Thar be controversy brewin' ahead, me hearties.
The brain trust behind Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean sequel now shooting on location is taking heat from an indigenous leader over a scene in which Johnny Depp's swashbuckling hero Captain Jack Sparrow gets roasted on a spit.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Chief Charles Williams, head of the 3,500-strong Carib people--a minority who live on the island of Dominica--is calling on his fellow tribe members to boycott Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest because the fantasy film supposedly perpetuates the incorrect view that their ancestors dined on human flesh.
The sequel is one of two to 2003's blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl being filmed back-to-back on location in Dominica and several other Caribbean islands.
Dead Man's Chest is scheduled to hit theaters in summer 2006, while the as-yet untitled third film is due out in 2007.
The spit spat boils down to a scene that's said to take place in the middle of the movie, when Captain Jack gets is captured by natives and ends up hog-tied and generously sprinkled with fruits and vegetables in, as one Disney exec puts it, a human "shish kebab."
"It's a funny, almost campy sequence," Bruce Hendricks, Disney's executive in charge of production, tells the Times about the five-minute scene. "There are a lot of silly moments in it."
Although Captain Jack escapes (and goes on to fight ghostly scalawags and rum-lovin' zombies), the depiction of natives as flesh-craving savages bothers Williams, who says it's un-P.C. and untrue.
"Pirates did come to the Caribbean in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries," Williams tells the Times. "Our ancestors were labeled cannibals."
Caribs migrated to Dominica from South America over a 1,000 years ago. History books used to portray them as cannibals, but historians have since found sufficient evidence to suggest that the Spanish frequently made up such stories as a way to vilify the natives and justify colonization..
"Today, that myth, that stigma is still alive," Williams adds. "Today, Disney wants to popularize that stigma one more time, this time through film, and film is a powerful tool of propaganda."
Disney declined to comment on the spit spat beyond a brief statement.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is an action-packed adventure full of comedy, romance, and fantasy all born out of the imaginative minds of our writers. While we cannot give away any plot points, any island and tribe depicted in the film are purely fictitious and there is no reference to any particular actual people or group," the statement says.
Williams, as head of the Carib Territorial Council, met with filmmakers in October about shooting scenes in the tribe's stomping grounds and employing the tribe as extras and crew members, and he rejected the idea.
But despite his objections, he was overruled by the council in January. Many fellow Caribs say the film shoot is a boost to the local economy, which suffers 70 percent unemployment. Besides, they argue, the film makes no mention of Dominica or Caribs: It is set on a fictitious island and the cannibals in question are called Pelegosto. Hundreds of Caribs are now working on the project.
"To my mind, this is as much a mythical story as Batman or Superman or Dracula," says Dominica's tourism minister Charles Savarin.
Following the rebuke, Williams went public with his protest, even refusing to allow anyone associated with the project to shack up at his Carib Territory Guesthouse.
But so far the shooting has been unaffected.
"There's been nothing but a very welcoming atmosphere," a production insider tells E! Online. "We're working with 400-plus Dominicans, which includes a very large number of Carib people. The shooting's going beautifully on schedule and we have had a fantastic reception from the Dominicans working on the film and around the towns."

Summer's approaching, and you know what that means: leisurely picnics, lazy air-conditioned nights — and at least one incredibly dark, psychologically challenging and explosion-filled summer blockbuster.
"Batman Begins" is the fifth (or the sixth, if we count last year's execrable "Catwoman") installment in the big-screen franchise, and all indications are that this entry will be as much a journey into Bruce Wayne/Batman's psyche and his tortured past as it will be a high-budget, blow-'em-up thriller. In fact, the most recent trailer www.mtv.com/overdrive/ suggests that the film will explore Bruce Wayne's tragedy-filled past (the murder of his parents) and will also delve into his more amorous inclinations, particularly those having to do with old flame Rachel Dodson (Katie Holmes).
Most significantly, though, the film will chronicle how Wayne became Batman in the first place, traveling the globe in search of the means to fight evildoers and protect the weak and innocent.
With a cast that includes Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Ken Watanabe, Michael Caine and a host of other heavy hitters, chances are fair that the weighty subject matter will be handled with aplomb. But don't despair: Judging by the look of the new Hummerified Batmobile, for instance, there will be plenty of high-octane mayhem to keep the thespians and the audience on their collective toes.

After last year's false start, Lollapalooza has stacked the deck for its return. Among the acts who will headline the now-sedentary two-day affair in Chicago on July 23 and 24 are Weezer, the Killers, the Pixies, a reunited Dinosaur Jr., Widespread
The show will take place at Hutchinson Field in Grant Park with around 30,000 fans expected each day. Also on board are former Chicagoan Liz Phair, the Dandy Warhols, Cake, the Arcade Fire, Billy Idol, Kaiser Chiefs, the reunited Digable Planets, Tegan and Sara, Kasabian, the Bravery, Louis XIV and the Walkmen.
Organizers are promising 60 bands on five stages. According to the festival's producers, 2,000 $35 tickets offered for presale recently sold in about 80 minutes, with regular tickets priced at $85 for a two-day pass. Ticket prices will eventually rise to between $100 and $115. Children under 10 will be admitted for free when accompanied by a paying adult, and some kid-friendly activities are promised on site. Through the festival's official Web site, producers are asking visual artists and inventors of "man-made machines" to submit works for use during the show. In addition the usual array of art, vendor booths and food, non-music diversions on tap include a runway fashion show.
Lollapalooza's organizers are also planning on shooting a movie of the event and have asked fans to submit stories and photos to a historical area on the Lolla Web site.
The rest of the lineup announced on Friday includes G. Love & Special Sauce, Blonde Redhead, the Black Keys, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Z-Trip, Los Amigos Invisibles, M83, VHS or Beta, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Soulive, Ambulance Ltd., Shout Out Louds, Blue Merle, the Warlocks, DeSol, World Leader Pretend, the Redwalls and the Changes.
The revival of Lollapalooza comes one year after the festival was canceled due to poor ticket sales for a bill that was to feature Morrissey, PJ Harvey, Modest Mouse, String Cheese Incident, the Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth. Its resurrection comes at a time when two-day "destination" festivals such as Bonnaroo and Coachella have become increasingly popular.

ComingSoon.net reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has moved up Batman Begins two days to Wednesday, June 15th instead of June 17th. This brings it a bit closer to Fox competitor "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" but further away from Paramount's "War of the Worlds".
The german movie-magazine 'CINEMA' published new pics from Batman Begins. You can find the pics here: www.batmannews.de/gotham_city_central/gotham_globe/article/2005/04/22.html

USA Today has a first look at an official picture of Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures' Ghost Rider. Here's a clip from the article:
"Most of these guys are comic-book geeks like me," Johnson says from Melbourne, Australia, where he is shooting the story of Johnny Blaze (Cage), a biker who sells his soul to the devil to save his girlfriend and then struggles with his demonic side, aka Ghost Rider. "Nic is one of the biggest fans of the comic book out there."
So big, in fact, that the actor sports a tattoo of the Ghost Rider's flaming skull on his arm. Makeup artists had to cover it for the film. Says Johnson: "The irony is we had to remove Nic's Ghost Rider so he could play Ghost Rider."

For a bio and review on the band Chequered Past, see below.

Chequered Past Biography by Tom Demalon
Chequered Past was a prime example of a band being less than the sum of its parts, featuring musicians who were well-known on their own or for their previous musical associations. Lead singer Michael Des Barres, who had fronted the bands Silverhead and Detective, teamed with ex-Sex Pistol guitarist Steve Jones. Completing the lineup was the rhythm section from Blondie, bass player Nigel Harrison and drummer Clem Burke, and guitarist Tony Sales, formerly of Utopia. Signed to Emi American, Chequered Past was released in late summer of 1984 and included a guest appearance by guitarist David Lindley, as well as a cover of Waylon Jennings' "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way." Radio failed to embrace the single "How Much Is Too Much?" and the album flopped. They broke up soon after, with Des Barres joining Duran Duran spin-off the Power Station for their tour (Chequered Past had toured with Duran Duran). Burke would end up drumming for the Eurythmics, while Sales would, several years later, become a member of David Bowie's short-lived Tin Machine project.
Review by James Chrispell
Chequered Past looks like a promo man's dream band on paper. Take the rhythm section from Blondie, add guitarists Hunt Sales and ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones, front the operation with journeyman vocalist Michael Des Barres and let them rock out to their hearts' content. A lot of what is here does rock, but things never catch fire the way they ought to. "A World Gone Wild" rocks things out nicely at the start, and the first side continues in much the same way, but by side two (or later in the CD), things start to sound a bit same-ish, as if the musicians have run out of ideas or new ways to express them. In any event, this ought to have been huge, but wasn't. It's flawed, but fun.

GARBAGE'S BLEED LIKE ME ENTERS Number 4 ON BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART; RANKING IS THE BAND'S HIGHEST CAREER
Bleed Like Me the fourth album by the band Garbage makes history today as it enters Billboard's Album Chart at Number 4. The number is the band's highest ranking in the US in its illustrious career. It comes on the heels of the album's first single, "Why Do You Love Me," which rocketed to the top ten on the Modern Rock chart. The album and band have been getting rave reviews in the press including a four star Alternative Press review: "A return to the steady Garbage ferocity of old, it's first rate." In David Fricke's review in Rolling Stone he writes the album is a "high-speed bouquet of rusted-razor blade guitars." Adding that lead singer Shirley Manson "can smell her own blood on these tracks. You hear it in high vicious fidelity."
Shirley Manson, Butch Vig, Duke Erikson, and Steve Marker, the foursome who are Garbage, recently shot the video for their next video which is the album's title track. The award winning and provocative video director Sophie Mueller who directed the video for "Why Do You Love Me," was also at the helm for "Bleed Like Me."
Garbage has been touring North America over the past few weeks, playing sold out nightly shows. Again, the press has been over the top in its praise of the dates, the Los Angeles Times put it simply in closing their review of the band's April 11 at the Wiltern Theater, "Garbage is back and better than ever."

CHICAGO - This year’s biggest birthday surprise didn’t arrive in the form of a present for adult legend Seka. It arrived via a judgment by a National Arbitration Forum, which officially awarded the Platinum Princess of Porn Seka.com on April 15
Seka, who has been online at OfficialSeka.com since late 2003, has endured a rather frustrating ordeal with Seka.com over the past few years.
“Was I frustrated? I was more than frustrated, considering I’ve owned the registered trademark on that name for over 20 years,” she tells AVNOnline.com. “It was not only taking my name as a domain, but a copyright infringement. They were also using pictures that I owned.”
The star also owns 10 years worth of photos published by Club magazine that were being used on the site, she says.
That’s where attorney Steven Anderson of Temecula, California-based Anderson & Associates stepped in. Anderson has done similar work for Laurie Holmes, the wife and caretaker of the estate of John Holmes.
“Because she was forced to use OfficialSeka.com instead of Seka.com, that was an issue, but the real issue that I sunk my teeth into was the website Seka.com claimed to be the official Seka site. Of course, it wasn’t. She was in no way related to them. On their site, they said it was the official site and [said it contained] Seka’s video store, and it wasn’t her video store at all,” Anderson tells AVNOnline.com.
The site was previously registered by Mark Anthony of Psites Inc. Anderson sent a letter to the registrant’s address and then filed a domain dispute, neither of which were responded to.
“Under the uniform domain dispute policy, when one signs up for a domain name, they agree to submit to arbitration should there be an issue of this nature,” Anderson says. “Having previously agreed to arbitration, the respondent should have filed a response and they did not.”
Now Seka.com redirects to OfficialSeka.com and its namesake is making plans to rebrand her online presence through her now-official domain. There’s also the possibility of further legal action against the former owner, which would be filed in federal court. Included in the equation is a large and rather well-known online adult retailer that reportedly sold the wares on the previous incarnation of Seka.com.
“The next step is to be determined,” Anderson says.
“We don’t know much about Psites Inc. We haven’t seen or heard of Mark Anthony, and I don’t know if we’re going to collect against what may be nothing more than a straw man or a fake name.”
The certainty in this is that performers have rights to their chosen name online. Lexington Steele was awarded LexingtonSteele.com in January in a similar case.
“Typically a performer that has achieved a degree of fame with respect to [his or her] name should be able to recover a domain name which is used to promote pornography generally and particularly with respect to that performer,” Anderson says.
The Seka.com case was open and shut—taking only two months to resolve once Anderson stepped in.
“I tried through some other people to get some things done and nothing seemed to be working,” Seka says. “Laurie suggested I contact Steven, which I did and it worked out perfectly because he got me my stuff.”

One of MK's favorite comntempory artists willl be playing Chicago on Friday April 22 at the Exit 1315 W. North Ave. Chicago www.exitchicago.com
The Voodoo Organist (Scott Wexton) is touring the states in support of his third CD, “Holy Ghost Town,” was released February 15, 2005 on his newly renamed label, Voodoo Man Music, and is again being distributed by Dead Teenager Records.
It’s his most potent album to date, with 13 tracks that samba and slither through a decadent palette of musical styles. Using a whiskey-soaked growl, a vintage organ with bass pedals, a theremin and various rhythm devices, Wexton tells tales of sin and temptation, drugs and debauchery, murderous stalkers and lonesome highways; and through it all you will want to dance like the Devil.
Review from MK Magazine:
Return Of The Voodoo Organist
www.voodooorganist.com
Every once in a great while you get a CD from an act you’ve never heard of, and when you hear the first song you know it’s going to be an instant favorite. This is one of those CDs. And I don’t get them very often. From the first song “Breakdown 2003” the Voodoo Organist (Scott Wexton) very unique organ style is the sound of a Sunday morning church service in Hell, in a very light manner. His vocal stylings are like that of Mojo Nixon, Tom Waits and Nick Cave wrapped up in one package. It has a very 50’s b-movie soundtrack aura sounding as if it would be something that could very well be Tim Burton’s dream lounge lizard.
All organ and vocals over drum tracks and Maracas this is going to be party music for my events for a long time to come. Some of the songs sound like a fire and brimstone Pentecostal Bible thumper is going to scare the bejesus out of you and sometimes as in the “Pitchfork Man” just makes you want to put on a costume and dance around a candle lit room with your mushroom eating friends. “Today is Not the Day” has a southwestern flavor that urges you to get up and snap your fingers, clap your hands and click your feet.
But to clearly get the message I get every time I play the Voodoo Organist has to be heard to understand. Take it from me, no matter what you’re into, you cannot help but get into the music and can’t help but play it over and over. Everyone I’ve played it for agrees, and there is no way I’m lending this one out, as I may never get it back.
This CD receives MK’s highest recommendation for purchase so far this year. —Alex Zander

Anchor Bay has finally been spending some major dough on their DVD releases and over packing them with all sorts of tasty morsels- if only the major studios would follow suit (with the exception of New Line). Inside you'll find the amazing specs for their DVD release of Alex Winter and Tom Stern’s Freaked. In a company that produces a toxic chemical tries to improve its image via a popular spokesperson, Ricky Coogan. Ricky travels to South America to get a first-hand look at the chemical's effects and finds himself at a mutant freak farm. Elijah, who runs the farm, is only too happy to have new subjects on which to try his freak machine. The very chemical that Ricky is supposed to promote is the one responsible for creating the great variety of freaks.
Fangoria writes:

The first disc will contain the following extras:

• Deleted scenes

• It’s the Troll, terrifying footage of young actor Alex Zuckerman developing the character of Stuey Gluck

• Behold…The Beast Boy, footage of Winter’s makeup transformation into a hideous mutant freek
• Two short films by Winter and Stern, SQUEAL OF DEATH and THE NYU SIGHT AND SOUND PROJECT

Just completed the first week on the road w./Pigface, Sheep On Drugs, Nocturne, Voodou, and Project .44...
What can I say...this has been an AMAZING experience thus far. The Enigma and Hanin Elias have added such an impact to the already profound energy of Pigface. Some crowds have been less than stellar... but every crowd had been blown away. There was a mini-RIOT in Detroit, 30 fans were able to jump onsatge and dance/sing along to SUCK...while some equipment ended up trashed that night... AMAZING Footage!!!!
This is the must see show! Expect the unexpected - Pigface is at top form, the crowds have been insane...Sheep on Drugs is becoming more chaotic every night...Nocturne and Voodou have been exceptional. This has been quite the experience thus far, following Martin through the drama/pre-production/rehearsals the past 3 months... I realize we are creating something special with this documentary.... more soon!!!

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- Mary Carey, a pornographic film star who ran for California governor in a recall election in 2003, has been arrested in a raid on a new strip club in this Tacoma suburb, police said.
Carey, whose real name is Mary Cook, was among five people who were arrested early Saturday at Club Paradise, and 11 others were given citations, police Lt. Bret A. Farrar said.
All 16 were accused of violating the local adult cabaret ordinance, some by getting too close to customers and others - including Carey- by touching themselves in a sexual manner. No accusations were made of prostitution or other sex acts code.
Besides Carey, police arrested another dancer, two managers and the club's limousine driver, Farrar said.
In raids the week of April 1, shortly after the club opened, police issued about a dozen citations and made one arrest, he added.
Carey finished 10th among 135 candidates on the ballot in California two years ago as voters recalled Democrat Gray Davis and elected Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor.
Farrar said the cases have been sent to prosecutors.
"We're recommending that they revoke their license," he said. "We're trying to send a clear message that were trying to clean up Lakewood."
An adult entertainment club called Stilettos at the same site was shut down by police last year for numerous code violations.
Club Paradise owner Ray Henson said he met with police to discuss regulations before he opened and accused officers of unfairly targeting him for past problems.
"I'm the cleanest club there is," he said. "I tried to be as cooperative as possible. Every time I've had a big crowd, they come in."

Photos of KISS frontman Paul Stanley's first-ever public showing of his art can be seen exclusively on KISS Kollector Online, the web site of the European KISS Army. On April 6, Stanley appeared at the Celebrites art gallery at Wailea on Maui (Hawaii) to unveil his latest paintings. The exhibition included a self portrait, and several abstract paintings such as "Green Planet", "Purple Haze", "All You Need Is Love" and "Astra Autumn".
From the press release: "As an art major and graduate of the prestigious High School of Music and Art in New York City, Paul has returned to his passion for painting, to share with you the deep emotions his art conveys. . . Paul Stanley creates purely abstract and emotionally charged compositions in which we are invited to experience his work as an object of the visceral… a state of mind detached from any unnecessary association with things or places tangible."

The mighty Rock Never Stops tour returns in summer 2005, bringing its untamed rock 'n' roll party to cities throughout North America. The eighth annual trek features headliner CINDERELLA and special guests RATT, QUIET RIOT and FIREHOUSE — all rock giants that exploded out of the 1980s and 1990s with combined worldwide record sales in the multi-millions.
With the finest lineup of melodic hard-rock bands found on the concert trail this year, Rock Never Stops 2005 will hit the road mid-June through early September, promising not only four bands thrilling the fans with an arena full of hit songs, but also promising many special surprises along the way as well!
Mark Hyman (creator of the Rock Never Stops concept and title) and Jay Frey of Paradise Artists are co-agents for the Rock Never Stops tour and they are thrilled about this year's lineup.
"We're very excited about the tour this year, and already the response from the fans has been excellent. The success of VELVET REVOLVER and MÖTLEY CRÜE is indicative of the fact that this kind of music has re-arrived at an arena level. It proves the perseverance of this style, that it's alive and well," says Hyman. "It's a time of shrinking record sales, but you can't download a personal appearance. The live experience reinforces the authenticity of what this music is all about. And the ticket prices are purchaser-friendly in a nod to the hard-working fans. Multiple generations of fans will be at the shows. A lot of parents will be bringing their kids."
"We are very fortunate to have CINDERELLA choose to headline Rock Never Stops 2005. They are a great band, and so are RATT, QUIET RIOT and FIREHOUSE. This package is exactly what Rock Never Stops is all about," says Frey. "We did a lot of research in putting this together. The secret to a successful package is chemistry, and the secret to that chemistry is sometimes elusive, but we definitely have it with this year's tour. We've got a great team of people that believes in the music combined with a fantastic set of talented artists."
CINDERELLA is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed hard-rock bands of the past 20 years. The quartet roared out of Philadelphia with an electrifying, gritty, blues-based style that produced several smash hit albums including the triple-platinum "Night Songs" and "Long Cold Winter" and platinum-plus "Heartbreak Station" and "Still Climbing". Classics from these albums include "Shake Me", "Nobody's Fool", "Somebody Save Me", "Gypsy Road", "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)", "The Last Mile", "Coming Home", "Shelter Me" and "Heartbreak Station". The new retrospective "Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits" is available on both CD and DVD.
"We're excited about the Rock Never Stops tour and getting back out on the road. We haven't been on tour since 2002," says CINDERELLA vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Tom Keifer. "We are definitely ready to play. A lot of it has to do with timing. I like a tour to be special, and I think it's more special when you are not on the road all the time year in and year out. That makes it stale for bands and the fans. It's healthy to be away from it for a while and come back refreshed and I think it's a really great bill this year."
RATT helped usher in the "pop-metal/hard-rock" era with its self-titled EP and then the triple-platinum, full-length debut album "Out of the Cellar" and its gigantic hit single "Round and Round", a true '80s classic. The Los Angeles-based band's string of gold and platinum albums include "Invasion of Your Privacy", "Dancing Undercover", "Reach for the Sky" and "Detonator" which spawned many hit singles including "Lay it Down", "You're in Love", "Dance", "Way Cool Jr." and "Lovin' You's a Dirty Job". "We know all about the great history of the Rock Never Stops tours and we're happy to be a part of it again this year. Summer tours are always a lot of fun. With the amount of talent on this tour, it really keeps you on your toes to do your best and give your all on stage for the fans," says RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer.
QUIET RIOT has the distinction of being the first heavy metal band to hit # 1 on the album charts, with its U.S. debut no less. 1983's "Metal Health" became a cultural phenomenon. Not only did it top the charts and turn the Los Angeles-based band into superstars, it sold more than 6 million copies and influenced subsequent generations of hard-rock and heavy metal bands. The SLADE cover "Cum on Feel the Noize" zoomed into the Top Five on the pop singles chart and the title track "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" hit the Top 40. The subsequent hit albums "Condition Critical", "QR III", "Quiet Riot", "Terrified" and "Down to the Bone" featured many fan favorites, including "Mama Weer All Crazee Now".
FIREHOUSE rounds out the package with a unique a style embracing blistering rockers among many heartfelt ballads. The band's self-titled double-platinum debut album yielded the memorable hits "Don't Treat Me Bad", the Top Five gold single "Love of a Lifetime" and "All She Wrote".

Maybe she should've called her book How To Sue Like a Porn Star.
X-rated queen Jenna Jameson is going hard-core on her publisher, launching a federal lawsuit against Regan Media claiming the company has no right to money from a proposed A&E reality series.
The 30-year-old porn star, whose real name is Jennifer Massoli, is miffed that publisher Judith Regan tried to claim a cut of the profits from a deal Jameson says she negotiated herself with the cable network for a show focusing on her everyday life.
The lawsuit asks a judge to make a ruling on a 2004 contract she signed with Regan to publish her bestselling memoir, How To Make Love Like a Porn Star. Jameson says the publisher does not have exclusive rights to the TV project because she claims she sealed the A&E deal before inking the Regan contract.
Regan is taking the charges, um, lying down. She has countersued, accusing Jameson of breaching their contract by talking to A&E. Regan says her contract with Jameson was airtight and didn't give the porn star any say in arranging TV development deals on her own.
ReganBooks published How To Make Love Like a Porn Star, cowritten by journalist Neil Strauss, last August, and the tome about Jameson's experiences in the adult film world rocketed up the charts.
Regan's countersuit comes the same week she announced plans to move her publishing empire from New York to Los Angeles to expand various properties for TV and film.
Regan's imprint rose to prominence publishing works by the likes of Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Moore and Jameson. Regan also served as an executive producer on A&E's Growing Up Gotti, as well as Jenna Jameson's Confessions, a documentary that aired on VH1 last year.
David Bodney, a lawyer for Regan Media, did not return phone calls seeking comment. Jameson's attorney was also unavailable.
While Jameson gets busy on the legal front, she is also overseeing the gargantuan growth of her sex-film empire, Club Jenna. Earlier this week, porn powerhouse Vivid Entertainment announced a seven-year exclusive pact with Jameson to distribute all skin flicks produced by Club Jenna.
All that and she's also starring in VirtuallyJenna, a sex-simulation videogame in which players try to bring a digital version of Jameson to climax.

Thanks to Dark Horizons and a case of insomnia, we've found 4 new TV Trailers for BATMAN Begins that are not on the films official site. Enjoy.
All links are below:
This is the teaser that seems to be playing on Spike TV and ESPN. Anyone remember this movie called 'Bats' from 1999? The teaser looks pretty much the same. WB was smart when it came to choosing the TV channels though I would have expected a 10 second clip to come much after the main tv spots had started airing.

The glider in this one looks great.

Another great spot for Batman Begins. This one shows never before seen glimpses of Batman gliding, the Batmobile, Katie Holmes, Gordon and so much more.

This one is all new footage. Great stuff in here. This one is a must see.

SHOWTIME BRACES FOR LATEST EPISODE
(Chatsworth, CA) So who's afraid of a naked man? Apparently SHOWTIME is, or at least they are concerned that some of the audience might be scared off by a serious slice of MFN. No, not Monday Night Football....Male Frontal Nudity.
Still concerned about the backlash created by the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" at last year's Super Bowl, Showtime has toyed with the idea of moving this week's episode of "FAMILY BUSINESS" from the usual Saturday, 11:30pm slot to an even more adult-friendly 1:30 AM.
What could cause the network to push the edgy reality-based show into the wee hours? Why a healthy dose of un-sheathed men of course. It's one thing for the audience to see lovely young women parading around in the buff, but entirely different to see a host of would-be male porn stars parading their packages in front of our eyes.
This week's episode “Up and Cumming” features an open casting call for potential male stars. The result was a lot more MFN than usual as the guys showed up for their try outs.
Can adults handle all this manhood? Will the world ever recover from the shock? More importantly, has Seymore found some Weapons of Mass Destruction? Tune in to find out.
“FAMILY BUSINESS” airs Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights on SHOWTIME including a double-header one hour block on Friday nights. Season 3 extensively features the making of Seymore Butts Home Movies and Cousin Stevie’s Pussy Party series, both of which are distributed by Pure Play Media.

I just need to make this clear. I have been to every Metal themed night in Chicago. And it's about time somebody did what NEO does. I was hooked on Delilah's Metal Shop the first Tuesday of every month and it's packed to the gills and always fun. But Dann aka DJ Eleven and the crew including Eric at the door, Charles aka Mr. Hate and Skinny Rabbit and sometimes Scott, rock Chicago weekly like it has never been rocked since the heyday. (sorry the Thirsty Whale was before my time) The gang at NEO truly do hard rock and metal it's justice and play all era's and are the best fucking people in Chicago.
And they play requests!
So if you've missed it it's your loss. No other rock night can claim to have hosted such star studded events in Chicago since I've been here since 1998. So, do YOURSELF a favor and check these bad boys out. And the girls are getting hot as well. Seriously.
But what would I know, I'm just a guy who writes about rock music and looks at pretty girls for a living. Maybe my taste sucks. If you think not, come out Monday.

Warner Brothers has provided an exclusive first look at the new BATMAN BEGINS one-sheet
As you can see, it keeps the them of the previous two posters - with the gold/yellow background and the flying bats. This one looks like it might be aimed toward the female demographic, as it depicts a heroic Batman carrying the obviously incapacitated Rachel (Katie Holmes).

Not only a legend, but Seka is truly one helluva' classy lady. Best wishes from MK and good luck in your move out of Chicago. We'll miss you!

LOS ANGELES - Hustler is expanding their empire with the debut of Hustler Hollywood Records.
The label’s goal is to focus on musicianship and originality and give artists a level of creative autonomy, according to the company.
“This is a new direction in marketing for Hustler Hollywood. We feel that this collaboration will work well for the artist and Hustler,” Hustler Hollywood president Larry Flynt said.
Lexington, Kentucky, quartet Superunknown is Hustler Hollywood Records’ first signing. The rock group’s first single, “Forever,” is being releases exclusively in Hustler Hollywood stores today. “Forever” was inspired by December’s tsunami disaster, and both the band and Hustler Hollywood will donate a portion of the single’s sales to support Red Cross relief efforts.
Superunknown’s first full-length album will hit all retail stores in July.
