Well sort of.
We will not be posting any updates till at least Saturday Aug. 6th as MK founder Alex Zander is undergoing on the job training. As of next week expect the same amount of updates and chaos as usual.
Subsequently we will be unable to receive any email correspondence. Pleas bear with us. We do not normally go offline for this many days at once but as we experience a few set backs expect the same fresh antics as always.
Enjoy the Hot August Nights. - MK

COMEDY legend Jerry Lewis got cranky after he gave a speech at a Las Vegas convention this week, confiscating an advance copy of his uncoming autobiography, "Dean and Me: A Love Story" (Doubleday), from a fan who asked for an autograph.
The "Nutty Professor" star delivered an anti-piracy spiel at the VSDA Home Entertainment Convention, then went ballistic when fan Will Keenan presented an advance copy of Lewis' book and asked him to sign it. Lewis refused to return the book until Keenan got on his knees and begged, explaining he'd acquired it legitimately. The cantankerous comic relented and returned the tome, which goes on sale in October, with an autograph. Lewis was unavailable for comment.

DIE FREAKY! an ultra-twisted, two-years-in-the-making, pornographic, stop-motion animation musical comedy retelling of the Manson crimes (!), voiced by a legion of punk rock icons and featuring more assaulting bad taste than the entire John Waters canon! It’s the inaugural production of Rancid/Operation Ivy frontman Tim Armstrong’s Hellcat Films (Armstrong also narrates and composed part of the score) and given today’s climate, it certainly won’t be coming soon to a multiplex near you. So then, come along and witness the hellacious happenings of Charlie Hanson (Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong) and his stoned squad of psychedelic sociopaths Hadie (Lunachicks’ Theo Kogan), Hex (X’s John Doe), Squeeky (Jane Weidlin of The GoGo’s) and company as they have hardcore claysex (yes, we're talking puppet penetration shots!), raid bins and ultimately shock the plastic world with a brutal attack at the home of Sharon Hate (Kelly Osbourne under a pseudonym)! Other celebrity voices include Asia Argento, Nick 13, Lars Frederiksen, Jen Johnson, Matt Freeman, Kim Chi and Davey Havek! Is it offensive? VERY. So much so that animators quit throughout the production when they saw how far this was going and one U.S. booking had its dates cancelled after the cinema’s owner attended a screening and went ballistic. No joke, this film is inflammatory to an almost impossible degree. Sacred cows are torn limb from limb and virtually every line is calculated to outrage, sometimes with clever wit, often with the most volatile vulgarities imaginable. And of course, everything onscreen, from the trippy characters to the wicked-looking sets, is stylishly hand-sculpted the old-school way, giving the film the perverse feel of that early ’70s Rudolph Christmas special taken over by deviants who want to show you the funny side of necrophilic rape. Roecker and his punk-rock pals are going to creepy-crawl your value system, rearrange your furniture and leave you wondering what the hell just happened. Consider that a promise. And a warning.” - Mitch Davis

MY RUIN, the Los Angeles-based band fronted by exTURA SATANA singer Tairrie B., will release their new album, "The Brutal Language", on September 27 via their own label imprint, Rovena Recordings.
"We've been discussing the idea of our own label for a while now and we were made an offer we couldn't refuse," Tarrie said in a press release. "With our new imprint we will have complete control and we will own our music which means it can't be re-packaged and re-released again and again without our knowledge or consent like our first two albums. We will be making all the creative and business decisions with our distribution company and they totally believe in our band and our vision. We've always been a DIY [do-it-yourself] band so this makes sense for us on many levels."
MY RUIN have also announced the addition of bassist Chris Lisee and drummer Jason Brunk to the group's ranks. Lisee and Brunk joined the band following the completion of the recording sessions for "The Brutal Language", which was laid down in its entirety by Tairrie and guitarist/main songwriter Mick Murphy.
"Mick has always been the main songwriter and driving musical director in the band," stated Tarrie. "Although we never expected we would have to record our album with just the two of us after our former members [drummer Yael and bassist Johnny Chow] decided to leave the band abruptly in February, we knew we could do it, and we did. Mick produced the album and played all the guitar, bass and drum parts. There was no way we were about to let what happened end our band."
"After completing the recording, finding the right people to be a part of MY RUIN was something we did very low-key and privately," Tairrie said of the search for the group's new members. Added Murphy: "We were both a little gun-shy and not in a rush to just fill the rhythm section. A friend from a band we had toured with last year (SOIL) suggested we meet with bass player Chris Lisee, whom I had met and spoken with a few times in the past. He was very familiar with the band from seeing us play live many times, and we felt a connection with Chris immediately, and the feeling was mutual. Chris brings a positive energy to MY RUIN and we feel like we’ve known him forever. He understands where we're coming from musically and where we want to go. He's a tight player with a great tone and a powerful stage presence.
"Chris suggested we audition his friend and former bandmate, Jason Brunk, who we also happened to know from our past and were really excited about. Jason has a hard-hitting, thunderous style of drumming which gives the music a huge live sound.
"We knew after our first rehearsal that both Jason and Chris were what were looking for to complete the next era of MY RUIN. It's less drama and a lot more fun these days. It's nice working with people we can relate to on both the personal and musical side of things. It has always been about the music first and I think our new album speaks for itself and is a reflection of the chemistry and evolution of the band. Yes, Tairrie is very outspoken and her reputation often precedes her, but this is rock 'n' roll — it ain't Sunday school."
MY RUIN will be playing a few one-off shows in July with friends and Nuclear Blast recording artists BLEED THE SKY as they finish mixing their new album with two-time Grammy Award-winning producer and longtime friend Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, VELVET REVOLVER, GOATSNAKE, MARILYN MANSON) at Studio 606 West. The band then plan on hitting the road again in August and September with BLEED THE SKY for "The Double Shot of Rock Tour", presented by Jagermeister.
MY RUIN have posted two full-length songs from "The Brutal Language" on their MySpace.com jukebox and on the band's official web site, www.myruin.com.

WASHINGTON - More than a week after news of its existence leaked, a bill seeking a 25 percent excise tax on adult entertainment purchased online and the imposition of mandatory, “certified” age verification of adult website visitors was introduced Wednesday by nine Democratic Senators. Concurrently, two members of the U.S. House of Representatives introduced companion legislation there.
“The Internet has become our new American Main Street, and it’s literally transforming the experience of growing up in America in a way much different from the way parents of today grew up,” Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), author of The Internet Safety and Child Protection Act of 2005, told reporters during a press conference Wednesday morning. “Many Internet service providers have taken significant steps to provide parents with tools to protect their children from inappropriate material online, and they should be commended. But sadly, many adult-oriented websites in today’s online world are not only failing to keep products unsuitable for children from view, but are also pushing those products in children’s faces. And it’s time that we stand up and say enough is enough.”
Lincoln said her legislation would help relieve the anxieties experienced by parents due to the lack of control many feel they have over what their children view online. She said it’s time the costs of protecting children online shift from the American taxpayer to “the actual purveyors of online pornography.” The Senate bill is cosponsored by Senators Tom Carper (D-Del.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), and Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). The House version was introduced by Reps Jim Matheson (D-Utah) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.).
Both bills propose three primary objectives:
- Adult, for-profit websites would be required to use software to verify the age of users attempting to access them. Online merchants, banks, and credit card companies could not process payment transactions that are not age-verified. The FTC would be empowered to issue and enforce regulations pursuant to age verification.
- An “Internet Safety and Child Protection Fund (ISCP Trust Fund)” would be established to centralize and coordinate the allocation of federal resources in support of efforts on the part of law enforcement and others to combat Internet and pornography-related crimes against children. Trust Fund resources also would support initiatives that help parents exercise greater supervision over their kids’ online activities.
- The trust fund and enforcement of the regulations would be financed by a 25-percent tax on Internet pornography transactions.
Lincoln said she introduced the legislation “as a concerned parent, in an effort to stand up to those on the Internet who are profiting by exploiting children and promoting irresponsible and obscene behavior.”
Though they take nothing coming out of Washington lightly, adult industry insiders said they see little chance the bill will survive. “The bill is based on a flawed report that reaches conclusions based on seriously out-of-date material and faulty assumptions,” Free Speech Coalition Communications Director Tom Hymes said, referring to a report released concurrently by Third Way. Among other things, the report, “The Porn Standard: Children and Pornography on the Internet,” accuses adult webmasters of actively targeting children not only as customers, but also as participants in their products.
“It’s time for Congress to step in to help parents keep their children safe from predatory online pornographers, and it’s time to tax pornographers to pay for the steps that society must take when they pursue quick profits through the promotion of online obscenity,” Sean Barney, a Third Way senior policy advisor and principle author of the report asserted in a prepared statement. “Internet pornographers are being totally irresponsible. Today’s technology gives them the ability to keep children off their sites, and they just aren't doing it. While it is as difficult as ever for a teenager to walk into a store and buy a pornographic magazine, it is as easy as ‘point and click’ for an 11-year-old child to view streaming pornographic video online.”
Hymes bristled at the phrase “predatory online pornographers.” “It’s categorically untrue that Internet professionals consciously and knowingly market their wares to children,” he said. “That’s an economically unsound practice. Four or five years ago people used the pay-per-click business model.” PPC models pay affiliates for sending massive amounts of unqualified traffic to sponsors’ sites. It’s conceivable that children could have been among that traffic during the financial model’s heyday, Hymes conceded, “but nobody uses [the PPC model] anymore.
“We’re not going to allow Democrats or Republicans to define this debate or try to use this industry and the responsible people in it in their partisan strategies in the culture war,” he continued. “We’re not going to allow people to continue to make spurious accusations about this industry. We don’t market to children. We don’t engage in child pornography. We’re not organized criminals or superhighway bandits.”
Hymes also conceded, however, that “everything in Lincoln’s bill is not entirely off the mark.” He said some sort of reliable, non-intrusive age verification standard that would pass constitutional muster and protect both online adult professionals and children was worthy of consideration, but the adult industry should be included in the discussion because it could help the government craft better legislation that actually accomplished reasonable objectives. “We’ve already been successful in the California state capital in Sacramento, after all,” he noted.
First Amendment attorney Lawrence Walters agreed that age verification is a laudable goal, but it’s not as easy to achieve as simply telling the FTC to craft some nebulous regulations. “The problem here is that we’re dealing with a truly global audience,” Walters said of Internet porn consumers. “There is no [age verification] database that has data for all countries in the world.” Essentially, any regulations that required age-verification products currently on the mass market would exclude non-Americans from viewing porn on American websites because their ages couldn’t be verified. In addition, “the courts already have found that requiring personal information or payment for access to constitutionally protected speech violates First Amendment protections,” Walters said. Pornography is constitutionally protected speech.
The taxation portion of the bill is problematic, as well. “On its surface it sounds bad, but if we can pay [the government] 25 percent for online adult content and get them off our backs, I think it would be a fair trade,” opined First Amendment attorney J.D. Obenberger. “I don’t think it’ll work that way, though. Pornography is a class of expression that is going to have no friends and no supporters in legislative halls. However, if there’s a disability [such as a tax] attached to an expression because of its content, [the law] can’t stand.”
First Amendment attorney Reed Lee, who is part of the team currently representing the Free Speech Coalition in its challenge to the regulations for enforcing 18 U.S.C. §2257, noted that “the Supreme Court has twice struck down taxes that were restricted to media, and a tax on Internet content is even more problematic in terms of First Amendment protections.” Lee described the Internet as “the most massive of mass media outlets. Frankly, I don’t think [Lincoln’s] got a prayer” that her bill will pass.
Although Walters said he thinks the bill “may be able to get away with imposing a ‘sin tax” because the U.S. has a long and illustrious history of imposing taxes on other so-called vices like alcohol and tobacco, there is a more basic inadequacy in Lincoln’s bill. “If [the government’s] goal is to protect children, how does imposing a tax on U.S. webmasters only accomplish anything? Kids will still be able to access just as much porn just as easily on foreign websites, and adults will be able to access foreign pornography at 25 percent less. There would be zero real-world impact because of the global nature of the Net. All a bill like this would do is damage the [U.S.] economy, because all of a sudden [U.S.-based adult websites are] going to go overseas. A lot of people who lost their jobs in the dot-com bust found work in the adult industry instead of ending up in unemployment lines. Something like this would take billions of dollars a year out of the U.S., and that’s worth considering.”

Well the rain finally came pouring down and the temps finally dropped a little bit. But that wasn’t going to stop fellow Metal Heads from getting their chance to see the mighty Static-X and others at Chicago’s House of Blues. This being my fourth time seeing them rip shit up I will tell you, it only keeps getting better.
As the familiar and thunderous intro of “Bled for Days” came roaring out of the P.A. the crowd began to go into a frenzy eagerly waiting for Wayne and the boys to start thrashing. When they got on stage and started their musical assault the party was well underway as the crowd danced with their beers in the air and the Heavy Metal Hurricane (A.K.A The Mosh Pit) began to unleash its wrath on those weak posers standing around.

It got even more intense when The Wisconsin Death Trippers thrashed out cuts from their new album titled “Start a War”. Songs like “I’m The One”, “Dirt House”, and “I Want to Fucking Break it” kept the audience satisfied while classics like “I’m With Stupid”, “Permanence”, and “This is Not” created a huge sing along fest.
Between songs Wayne Static kept showing his appreciation to the fans by toasting his drink with band mates Tony Campos, Nick Oshiro, and Koichi Fukuda and the audience and afterwards throwing the empty cups at the energetic crowd. Wayne also reminded the crowd to enjoy the show by yelling, “Every night is Saturday night when I get on this stage”!

After the always aggressive set of heavy riffs, great dance rhythms, and growling vocals Static-X disappeared into the darkness leaving the sweaty and bruised audience dying for more. Chants of “One More Song” and “Static-X” filled the smoky theatre.
All of a sudden Static-X quickly returned to the stage to pound out the infamous Evil Disco Anthem “Push it”. The crowd went insane and danced frantically like someone blew crack smoke out of the theatre’s ventilation system!
“Love Dumpling” kept the crowd jumping up and down like the wild spiked hair on Wayne’s head and the last song “ Get to the Gone” reminded the audience that this band remains one of the best live metal acts today.
For a great time and maybe a couple bruises I recommend, no, I dare you, no; I THREATEN YOU to check out Static-X. When they return to a city near you. RAAHHH!!!

B-D reader Breakmaker scooped us in some very, very interesting news about Universal's Creature from the Black Lagoon remake, which was last reported on in yesterday's news. According to our little Breadmaker, Ron Howard has confirmed that Bill Paxton has a role in the remake of the classic 1954 film featuring our fun lil' creature. In the original a scientific expedition traveling up the Amazon River encounter a dangerous humanoid amphibious fish creature.
CNN talked to Ron Howard this morning - who was filming Da Vinci Code - about the space-shuttle Discovery launch. It was more or less a chance for Howard to talk about "all the amazing extras" on the Apollo 13 DVD (again) but he did have some interesting bits to share.
Apollo 13's Bill Paxton is someone he envisioned for the role of Robert Langdon in "Da Vinci" but Paxton's committed to a Creature of the Black Lagoon film so he couldn't commit, and that Howard doesn't approve of what his old friend Russell Crowe did - the phone incident. He said something like "When you're in the spotlight so much, you've got to turn it down a notch". He then said he looks forward to working with Crowe again - so go figure.
Howard said he'd like to do another space movie sometime, but says he's done the historial piece, he'd love to do something action/adventure driven in the vein of "2010".

Ted Raimi
Ted Raimi got the acting bug when he would appear as an extra in his brother Sam’s early Super-8 and feature films (including Sam’s first hit “THE EVIL DEAD”). Ted earned his SAG card playing the possessed Henrietta in “EVIL DEAD 2”. Ted went on to appear in many film and television roles including “SHOCKER”, DARKMAN”, CANDY MAN”, “SKINNER”, and “TWIN PEAKS”.
Ted is probably best known for his recurring roles on “XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS” as Joxer The Mighty and “SEA QUEST” as Lt. Tim O’Neill. The ultimate Ted spotting flick is “ARMY OF DARKNESS" in which Ted takes on at least four roles.
Most recently, Ted can be seen in “THE GRUDGE” and “SPIDERMAN 1 + 2”.
Bill Moseley – In Rob Zombie’s “HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES” (2003) and the eagerly awaited sequel “THE DEVIL’S REJECT’S” (2005), Bill Moseley turns in a classic performance as the charismatic, yet vicious psychopath Otis B. Driftwood.
Sid Haig - As Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s “HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES” and “THE DEVIL’S REJECTS”, Sid delivers a larger than life performance. This scene stealing performance is however, only the latest genre film role in a career in film and television which spans 40 years.
Matt McGrory Matt McGrory portrays “Tiny” Firefly in Rob Zombie’s “HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES” and “THE DEVIL’S REJECTS”. Matt can also be seen in Tim Burton’s “GO FISH” and “THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING”. At 7’ 6’, Matt is currently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as “The Tallest Actor”.
Tom Atkins - Veteran screen tough-guy Tom Atkins was part of the legendary ensemble cast John Carpenter and Debra Hill assembled for "THE FOG". Tom also appeared in "ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK" and starred in the under-rated "HALLOWEEN 3: SEASON OF THE WITCH". His other genre appearances include "NIGHT OF THE CREEPS", "MANIAC COP", "CREEPSHOW", and "BRUISER".
Charles Cyphers - Character actor Charles Cyphers appeared in many of John Carpenter's early works including "ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13" (1976), "ELVIS", "THE FOG", and "ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK”.
Nancy Loomis - As babysitter Annie Brackett, Nancy Loomis, along with Jamie Lee Curtis and P.J. Soles, made up the teenage trio of babysitters in John Carpenter's 1978 classic "HALLOWEEN". Nancy also worked for John Carpenter in “ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13' (1976), and "HALLOWEEN 2 + 3”.
SVENGOOLIE (Appearing Saturday July 30, 2005) We are honored to have Chicago Television Legend “SVENGOOLIE” back for his second Flashback Weekend appearance! Rich Koz portrays the popular character each week on “The U!” “Svengoolie” will be signing autographs, posing for photos, and will take to the Flashback Stage for a Q & A and to MC a costume contest on Saturday. Get your costumes ready!
Tim DeKay – (HBO’s “CARNVALE”). In addition to “CARNIVALE”, actor Tim DeKay has a long acting resume including “CSI” and “FRIENDS”. Tim also portrayed the "The Bizarro Jerry" on “SEINFIELD”.
David DeFalco - The director of “CHAOS” has said "You can't write and direct the most brutal motion picture of all time and expect to walk away from it normal." "The most common question David DeFalco gets asked regarding “CHAOS” from people is "What's the purpose of making a movie like this?" David responds, “My answer to that question is because it is a very real and unfortunate part of life that is as fascinating as it is disturbing.”
SAGE STALLONE (Swan) – The son of actor Sylvester Stallone has made quite a name for himself amongst fans of classic horror and grindhouse cinema. Acting, however, is only a diversion for Sage who also appeared in Jim VanBebber's “THE MANSON FAMILY”. Sage is founder of Grindhouse Releasing, a Los Angeles based company, dedicated to the restoration and preservation of quality exploitation feature films.
Michael Berryman - Michael created such a memorable character as “Pluto” in “THE HILLS HAVE EYES” that he was featured solely in the film’s advertising. Michael will next be seen in “THE DEVIL’S REJECTS”.
Camille Keaton - The star of the controversial classic "I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE" in a rare convention appearance!
Corolina Cataldi-Tassoni – Horror film fans know Coralina from her work in the Italian film genre, working for greats like Dario Argento, Lamberto Bava, and Pupi Aviti in films such as “DEMON’S 2” and “PHANTOM OF THE OPERA”.
Tom Sullivan - The "EVIL DEAD" effects and make-up artist will be bringing his "EVIL DEAD" museum to Flashback Weekend for his fourth Flashback appearance.

"HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES" Retrospective and Cast Reunion
Rob Zombie's "HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES" is a tribute to Drive-In Horror films of the 70's, so we thought it only appropriate to hold a special retrospective 35mm screening of "HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES" Friday evening (July 29, 2005) at the Flashback Weekend Drive-In. Rob Zombie's "The Devil's Rejects" took in an estimated $7 million over the weekend to debut at No. 8 on this week's list of top-grossing films, according to BoxOfficeProphets.com. "Audiences were obviously intrigued; the horror flick opened to $7 million from only 1,757 venues — it had an excellent venue average of $3,984," reads a posting on the site. "'Rejects', a 'follow-up' to Zombie's 'House of 1000 Corpses', cost more than the $7 million it took to make 'Corpses' (Lions Gate finished with a $12.6 million on that one) and shows the director has picked up more of a following. 'Corpses' was huge on DVD, selling over a million units, and there is no reason why this one won't do the same."
Zombie recently told told Launch that "The Devil's Rejects" is a very different movie to its predecessor. "It has no relation to the first film almost in the sense that it has one consistent look, it doesn't jump around, it's a very gritty, real, bleak look," he said. "The characters are all the same characters, except we all got together and were like, 'I wanna make these characters real.' 'Cause essentially right now, they're cartoon characters. Like, let's take those and make them real people."
Actors Sid Haig, Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie return from the first film.
But no matter how well "Rejects" ultimately does, Zombie told Launch that he won't be doing a sequel. "No. It ends here," he said. "I couldn't do anything with any impact if the movie ended and you felt like it set you up for another movie. That's the main thing I hate about sequels. There is no big dramatic ending, there is no climax, because they don't want to have one. The movies never end. You just lessen the impact just to protect your franchise."
"The Devil's Rejects", which opened on Friday (July 22), is itself a loose sequel to Zombie's 2003 directorial debut, "House Of 1000 Corpses".
Zombie does have other movie projects in the works, one of which is an animated film based on his comic book character, Superbeasto. Zombie is currently headlining the second stage of Ozzfest 2005, which pulls into Holmdel, New Jersey for a two-day stand on Tuesday (July 26) and Wednesday (July 27).
The rocker-turned-filmmaker has also been working on a new album, which he hopes to finish this fall and release by early 2006.

PHOENIX - Gerry Thomas, who changed the way Americans eat — for better or worse — with his invention of the TV Dinner during the baby boom years, has died at 83.
Thomas, who died at a Phoenix hospice center on Monday after a bout with cancer, was a salesman for Omaha, Neb.-based C.A. Swanson and Sons in 1954 when he got the idea of packaging frozen meals in a disposable aluminum-foil tray, divided into compartments to keep the foods from mixing. He also gave the product its singular name.
The first Swanson TV Dinner — turkey with cornbread dressing and gravy, sweet potatoes and buttered peas — sold for about $1 and could be cooked in 25 minutes at 425 degrees. Ten million sold in the first year of national distribution.
It was fast and convenient, and fit nicely on a TV tray in the living room, so that you didn't have to drag yourself away from your favorite television show.
Robert Thompson, director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University, said the TV Dinner "started a change in American eating habits bigger than any change in culinary history since the discovery of fire and cooked foods."
The TV Dinner fit in with societal changes at the time, when more women were entering the work force and did not have the time to spend all day preparing dinner, Thompson said. It also helped introduce the notion of "modular" eating: If there were only two people at home, you put only two dinners in the oven.
"Some people claim that the TV Dinner was the first step toward breaking up the American family because it made it possible for everybody to eat in a modular way," Thompson said. "That was going to happen anyway. The redefinition of the American family was going on anyway."
In a 1999 Associated Press interview, Thomas recalled that the inspiration for the TV Dinner came when he was visiting a distributor, spotted a metal tray and was told it was developed for an experiment in the preparation of hot meals on airliners.
"It was just a single compartment tray with foil," he recalled. "I asked if I could borrow it and stuck it in the pocket of my overcoat."
He said he came up with a three-compartment tray because "I spent five years in the service so I knew what a mess kit was. You could never tell what you were eating because it was all mixed together."
Since interest in television was booming, he added: "I figured if you could borrow from that, maybe you could get some attention. I think the name made all the difference in the world."
"We had the TV screen and the knobs pictured on the package. That was the real start of marketing," Thomas said.
The TV Dinner drew "hate mail from men who wanted their wives to cook from scratch like their mothers did," Thomas said, but it got him a bump in pay to $300 a month and a $1,000 bonus.
"I didn't complain. A thousand dollars was a lot of money back then," he said.
After the Campbell Soup Co. acquired Swanson in 1955, Thomas became a sales manager, then marketing manager and director of marketing and sales. He left the company after a heart attack in 1970.
He later directed an art gallery and did consulting work.
"It's a pleasure being identified as the person who did this because it changed the way people live," Thomas said. "It's part of the fabric of our society."
Thompson said that until last year, Thomas had spent one day each summer talking to Thompson's history of television class for graduate students.
"This was really fun for them," Thompson said. "This was like meeting a great American industrial legend. So many things we take for granted remain anonymous. We know the architect that designed St. Peter's, but who knows the architect that designed that basic ranch-style house?"
The TV Dinner, Thompson said, is "one of the few things we've got that we actually have the human being who had his fingerprints all over it."
But Thomas went decades without recognition for his innovation, said his wife, Susan Thomas. Even his seven children were not aware of his place in modern American life, but after his contribution was recognized in the mid-1990s by marketers at Swanson, "it just had a life of its own," she said.
Thomas relished the credit he got for his invention and even kept the original prototype tray and packaging for the TV Dinner, Susan Thomas said.
But that didn't mean he ate them.
"He was gourmet cook," Mrs. Thomas said. "He never ate the TV Dinners."

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club went through an uncertain past year, losing - and regaining - drummer Nick Jago, and recording a new album, appropriately titled Howl.
Without a recording contract at the outset (BRMC is now signed to RCA Records), the band dug into its own wallets to finance recording. Relentless touring during recording breaks reportedly took its toll on Jago, who quit the band and then returned.
With the album completed and the indie rock trio regrouped, BRMC is preparing to kick start another North American tour after warming up with festivals in Japan and England.
Howl, a title borrowed from beat poet Allen Ginsberg's classic, marks BRMC's third full-length effort, so it's only fitting the tour in support kicks off in San Francisco at the Great American Music Hall on September 12.
The 19-city tour also stops in Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, New York City, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles, where the outing wraps October 8 at the Henry Fonda Theatre.

News Corp to buy MySpace.com owner for $580 million
NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp. on Monday said it would buy Intermix Media Inc., owner of the popular MySpace.com social networking site, for $580 million in a move to expand the media conglomerate's Internet offerings.
The deal comes after News Corp., home to the Fox television network, Fox News and 20th Century Fox film studios, announced on Friday the creation of an Internet division to hold the company's sports, news and entertainment sites.
News Corp. will pay $12 a share, a 12 percent premium over Intermix's closing price on the American Stock Exchange on Friday. Intermix shares rose 9.5 percent to $11.74 in Monday trading.
"For a company with a market capitalization of over $50 billion and $6 billion in cash on their balance sheet, to pay $580 million for the fifth most widely viewed domain, that strikes me as reasonable," said Natexis Bleichroeder analyst Alan Gould.
"With a significant amount of advertising dollars moving from traditional outlets to online, News Corp., like most media companies, is looking to boost its Internet assets," Gould added.
Online advertising is expected to be the fastest growing category for national advertisers, up 15 percent to $7.9 billion this year, according to media buying firm Universal McCann.
MySpace.com is the most popular of the once-trendy social networking sites, which allow people with common interests to seek dates, friendship and professional relationships.
Google Inc., for its part, has a social networking site called Orkut. Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news) has made social networking a part of its Yahoo 360 networking tool.
"The thing about MySpace is that it's a growing audience," said Jupiter Research analyst David Card. "Its users are pretty loyal. They get a lot of time spent on their pages. And the personal information they get from users is pretty reliable because they want to meet people. One would think this information would be pretty useful to advertisers."
Intermix, which had $24.1 million in revenue in its fiscal fourth quarter, will become part of News Corp.'s newly created Fox Interactive Media.
News Corp. had said on Friday it plans to make "strategic investments" in this area. The creation of the Internet unit comes three months after News Corp. Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch's exhortation to the newspaper industry that it was too slow to respond to the Internet.
Intermix was the target of a lawsuit by New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, who accused the company of false advertising and deceptive business practices in bundling hidden spyware that delivered pop-up advertising and redirected Web traffic to an Intermix search engine.
The company agreed to pay $7.9 million to settle suit without admitting wrongdoing. It had previously stopped distributing such programs.
The News Corp. deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of calendar 2005.
Intermix's largest shareholder, VantagePoint Venture Partners, which holds 22.4 percent of the company, has agreed to vote its shares in favor of the deal, News Corp. said.
News Corp. shares closed down 2 cents to $17.45 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

WWW- Scarlett Johansson is having a hard time getting Jared Leto out of her system. The gorgeous "Lost in Translation" star, 20, was dumped by the "Requiem for a Dream" stud, 33, because she was supposedly too young for him. Johansson quickly started seeing hunky Josh ("Black Hawk Down") Hartnett. Leto then moved onto Ashley Olsen, who is even younger than Johansson.
But a good source claims Scarlett is sneaking out and having midnight trysts with Leto. His former conquests Cameron Diaz, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan might understand.
As does porn star Corina Taylor, who told radar.com she got cozy with well-endowed Leto on his tour bus in Little Rock, Ark., three years ago while he was on tour with his rock band, 30 Seconds From Mars. "I've been a porn actress for three years, and Jared was the most I ever had to work with," Taylor gushed. "There's definitely a second career available for him if he ever runs out of mainstream work.

Once, at a convention of astronomers, James Doohan was asked what it felt like "to be beamed." The actor who'd abided by the order, "Beam me up, Scotty," countless times on the Star Trek set reported that it was "very pleasurable."
"You end up beaming all over the place," Doohan said, per StarTrek.com.
Doohan, who sweated it out in the engine room of the U.S.S. Enterprise as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott on the original Trek TV series and, indeed, found himself beamed all over the world, via reruns, videos and DVDs, died Wednesday at his home in Washington state. He was 85, and had been battling Alzheimer's disease, and, most recently, pneumonia.
Per Doohan's request, said longtime agent Steve Stevens Sr., the sci-fi star will be cremated and his ashes launched into space by the same Houston-based aerospace company that shot the remains of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry into orbit following his 1991 death. Stevens said he didn't know precisely when Doohan's outer space memorial would occur. "As soon as the next flight goes up," he said.
In addition to the trailblazing 1966-69 series, the Canadian-born Doohan affected his Scotty brogue for the first seven Trek feature films and the 1973 animated series. And when he wasn't burring, he was grunting what would become the basis for the native tongue of the villainous Klingons in the big-screen adventures.
It was a year ago last July that Doohan's family disclosed the Trek star had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. That, combined with Parkinson's and diabetes, led Doohan to sign off from the lucrative convention and college circuit, which he had worked like few other Enterprise alums. But first there was to be a final farewell.
Last August, Doohan, his longtime costars and fans converged in Hollywood for three days of roasting, toasting and starring the actor on the Walk of Fame. With a nod to the signature phrase that Doohan himself never uttered at the transporter controls, the event was called "Beam Me Up Scotty...One Last Time."
At the time, Walter Koenig, who played the Russian navigator Chekov to Doohan's Scotsman on Trek, called the convention "a beautiful gesture." He told E! Online he wished DeForest Kelley, the starship's venerable Dr. McCoy, had had a similar public goodbye. Kelley died in 1999.
On Wednesday, Stevens said Doohan was very ill during "Beam Me Up Scotty," but that "he sucked it up" to be on the convention floor with the faithful.
"Nobody embraced the fans like James did," Stevens said. "He loved the fans, and they loved him. And he felt that he needed to give back what he got."
With Doohan's passing, the surviving original Trek crew members include: Koenig; William Shatner (Captain Kirk); Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock); Nichelle Nichols (Lieutenant Uhura); and George Takei (Lieutenant Sulu).
Although they played a tight-knit bunch on TV and in the movies, in real life, the actors were not always on speaking terms, with Doohan and Shatner being chief exhibits. But last July, Doohan's son, Chris Doohan, told E! Online that the two men had patched up things, and "told each other how much they love each other."
Coming to terms--with costars, with fans, with the realities of typecasting--is a trick all Trek stars have had to master over the last 30-plus years. For his part, Doohan decided to embrace Scotty, something that perhaps was best evidenced by the title of his 1996 autobiography, Beam Me Up, Scotty.
"Many actors get upset when they are typecast, but that didn't concern him, because he was typecast as Scotty," Chris Doohan told the Los Angeles Times last year. "It's been his bread and butter."
Born March 3, 1920, in Vancouver, Doohan came about Scotty's fiery personality and doggedness the old-fashioned way: The battlefield. Fighting with the Royal Canadian Artillery during World War II, the future Starfleet officer landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, as part of the U.S.-led D-Day invasion. He lost a finger; the Allies won the war.

I'm going out on a limb and calling this THIRD TIME IS THE HARM!
World Entertainment News Network is reporting that MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has confirmed he and his ex-wife Pamela Anderson are set to exchange vows for the third time.
After days of speculation about the couple's on-off love affair after they were spotted holidaying together in Hawaii, Lee has revealed they are planning another big day.
In an e-mail to entertainment news show "Access Hollywood", Lee answered the marriage question by stating, "Yes, I love Pamela. That's my girl."
As for a date for the big day, he added, "No date yet, baby. Soon!"
The pair tied the knot on a beach just days after they met in 1995. They remarried shortly after, wearing space suits — and went on to have two sons together, but divorced in 1998 after Lee was arrested for spousal abuse.

25 Percent Internet Sales Tax? Surprise, Surprise
Porn Valley- Nowhere in all the talk about the new 2257 regulations was there anything about a Federal tax on porn sites. But there it is. The Government is ready to extract 25 percent on all Internet sales.
According to the story being reported, legislation seeking stringent age-verification and a 25 percent tax on all adult entertainment revenues on the Internet is likely to be introduced in the Senate within the next few weeks. The key figure behind this bill is Sen. Blanche Lincoln [D-Ark]
The proposed act is divided into two sections. Title I stipulates “an operator of a regulated pornographic website shall verify that any user attempting to access their site is 18 years of age or older using software certified for that purpose … prior to the display of any pornographic material, including free content that may be available prior to the purchase of a subscription or product”(emphasis added).
Title II attempts to fund enforcement of Title I and various other activities related to children and pornography by imposing a 25 percent tax on gross website receipts. The bill also would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to include a revenue category called “Internet Display or Distribution of Pornography.”
The draft bill also includes a provision mandating “a bank, credit card company, third-party merchant, Internet Payment Service Provider, or business that performs financial transactions for a regulated pornographic website shall only process age-verified Internet pornography credit card transactions for sales. ...”
According to the draft, the bill, if passed, would take effect January 1.

I'm double-sided in three ways.
After a seven-year hiatus from the stage, I'm going to be unveiling
Chemlab live on the 10th of August in Boston with the help of a
couple of opti-nightlings. This is going to be a very interesting,
limited edition evening of bizarre proportions and I'm looking
forward to it with curiosity and hunger. There are certain things,
however, that should be said about this show before I go any further.
This is not quite the Chemlab that you knew from before, but then
neither is Oxidizer. Let me cast light. I did one of my solo shows in
Boston last year when I was in town and hooked up with Gabriel from
mindFIELD (www.mindfield.org), he actually furled noise behind the
first story I told that night and seemed plugged into the same frame
as I. We've been in touch ever since and have tossed around the
picture of spinning a one-off, experiment with his band backing me up
doing all Chemlab songs. Called either mindlab or chemfield and
presented as a cover band, we've tried to nail down a show for ages,
but each attempt has been thwarted, each step seen the foot hacked
off again. Very frustrating.
Now this gear-shifts, a lot. I'm going to be over in the States from
next week, the 19th, and then up in Boston in early August and,
finally, we're going to put this strange creature on stage though
it's much fleshed out from the shape of the genesis seed. If 6 were
9. This is not your fathers Chemlab however, rather a mutant strain.
Though familiar, it has some critically different wiring. Dylan isn't
involved as he's impossible to find as has no hunger to make music.
Servo can't gig yet because this is a one-time affair and he's out in
LA-LA. In future he'll be looped in. Levi isn't playing bass on this
yet either. Standing in his stead is a cool shard of glass known as
Jimmy. Keys are hammered by Regan and the guitar slung by Gabriel the
core engine of mindFIELD. Although the faces are different and we're
not yet fully quadro-sonic, the essence remains the same. Orbiting
around Dylan and me, the live band was eternally in flux. Same as it
ever was except that now Gabriel becomes Dylan. Looks a touch like
him as well.
Bear in mind, this is a one-time event. It won't ever be repeated.
The line-up and content will unequivocally alter shape by the next
time you see it. Each iteration takes me closer to the beast that I
want the band to be now and none of the previous shapes will be seen
again. The Lizard sheds its skin. Since this was originally a show
designed as a one-off, we're keeping that mental wiring but taking
Chemlab as the name. The set will be deliciously familiar yet will
push into new terrain as well. We'll be playing some songs that won't
be heard in the set again once we get going. There are also a few
older tracks that've never been played before and that's a twisted
challenge that may never be repeated.
What I present to you is the first flashes of the new touring band, a
Vaseline valentine gunning its engine in the lot and getting ready to
unleash in your head.

HOLLYWOOD - The night before VCA Pictures released the much anticipated Kill Girl Kill 2 from alt-porn auteur, Eon McKai hosted an ultra-cool release and birthday party with KGK 2 starlet Veronica Jett turning one year older.
The narrow, dingy atmosphere of ll Corral was crammed full of punkers and porners co-mingling as non-stop hardcore screened large in an adjoining space attracting casually curious and quietly interested voyeurs. Revelers included adult stars such as Evan Stone (sharing his birthday with Jett) and Syren, Gia Jordan, Tiffany Taylor, Kurt Lockwood, Samantha Ryan, Jezebelle Bond, Justin, newcomer Dana D’Armand, Platinum Blue sales chief Dean Sussman and a roving cast of local scenesters.
VCA Vice President of Sales Peter Reynolds grabbed Black Widow Media Director of Sales, Lisa Black Widow, a spot near the bar where Suicide girls Alice and Sita who starred in Kill Girl Kill as Karissa DeViance and now going by the name Eve Mayfair for X-rated releases, pumped free beer and kept the crowd drinking in the art turned porn/punk party space.
The mood was ebullient all-around with director McKai offering, “It’s nice to have a party that’s not in the Valley and doesn’t have all that bling,” adding that he’s excited about the pre-order success of this title and anxious to get into pre-production on the New Wave Hookers sequel he also has in the works.
“I know that if I wasn’t selling, they wouldn’t continue to let me make movies for VCA, and tell me to fuck off,” McKai offered adding that his choice of pseudonym is borrowed from the founding member of legendary punk rock band, Fugazi. “Eon was totally unflappable, making hard choices and to that I also add the promise no fake boobs in our features.”
A special contest offered to members of online rental giant Wantedlist.com with a grand prize deejay system complete with two Technic turntables, microphone, headset and all the bells and whistles was presented to an avid 18-year-old online renter from Santa Rosa, Calif., with company owners Anh Tran and Danny Ting excitedly talking up their new venture into the gay porn online rental market, www.maleboxdvd.com.
VCA head of public relations, Sean Carney, excited about the new release and obvious upswing in the alt-porn market, offered, “Eon’s work is a true team effort. It’s part of the social fabric of the new generation.” Carney also pointed out that Hollywood guerilla poster artist Buff Monster contributed art direction to the project and Monster offered, “I walked by the bathroom just now and some girl said that Kyle Stone is done. Who is Kyle Stone, that hippie porn actor over there?"
Exiting the party early into the following day, Marisol, one of McKai’s crew members who proudly offered that she was the cum mopper for the initial release and as far as the easiest ejaculate to clean up, Kurt Lockwood beat out James Deen and Rob Rotten won out. “I don’t know why, but it looked good and came right up and the best thing is, I won’t be doing it any longer as I’m starring in Kill Girl Kill 3.” No word yet on who will take over Marisol’s chores on the cum squad but Kyle Stone is among the jizz mop candidates, according to an unnamed source.

LOS ANGELES - Inside Deep Throat, the documentary produced by Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer about the $25,000 "blue movie" that launched an unprecedented social and political firestorm, is coming to DVD Sept. 20.
The first sexually explicit film to cross over to mainstream audiences, 1972's Deep Throat turned out to be far more than a titillating curiosity. Breaking longstanding taboos against openly discussing sex in polite society, the movie helped launch the sexual revolution - and ignited a conservative moral backlash. Eventually banned in 23 states and an explicit target of the Nixon administration, Deep Throat nonetheless succeeded in becoming a cultural phenomenon like no other.
With frank, lively interviews and fascinating archival footage, Inside Deep Throat examines the production, the politics, and the profound cultural impact of a phenomenon that remains as controversial today as it was over 30 years ago. Narrated by Dennis Hopper, the documentary features interviews with Deep Throat stars Linda Lovelace and Harry Reems, as well as director Gerard Damiano.
Helping to explain the film's lasting effect on American culture are Carl Bernstein, Helen Gurley Brown, anti-pornography activist Susan Brownmiller, Dick Cavett, Alan Dershowitz, Larry Flynt, Hugh Hefner, Erica Jong, Charles Keating, Bill Maher, Camille Paglia, Georgina Spelvin, Andrea True, Gore Vidal, John Waters and Dr. Ruth Westheimer, among others.
There are both R-rated and NC-17 versions of the DVD.

KISS frontman Paul Stanley recently informed Kiss Kollector Online that he's planning a solo tour in support of his upcoming solo album. Stanley will also have exhibitions of his paintings throughout the USA soon. In April of this year, the first-ever public exhibition of his art took place on Maui, Hawaii.
Paul last did a club solo tour in 1989, with Eric Singer and Bob Kulick along with and Dennis St. James.
As previously reported, drumming on Stanley's upcoming solo CD was handled by Victor Indruzzo, who has toured and recorded with MACY GRAY, toured with BECK and appears on various recordings by the Matrix production team. Most of the guitars have been handled by Corky James, who also is heard on various recordings by the Matrix team, including AVRIL LAVIGNE. In talking about their contributions Paul raved, "Victor is just an amazing drummer who can bash with the best of them while keeping a great groove going." As for James, Stanley added, "Corky just blows me away with his parts and sounds." As far as bass..."I've always been a big fan of Bruce Kulick's bass playing so it's great to have him on some of the album." Keyboards have been handled by Russ Irwin who has toured with both STING and AEROSMITH. "I've known Russ for over 15 years before the KISS/AEROSMITH tour happened and his being a part of the project seemed like a natural". Of course all the vocals are handled by Paul. A few of the tracks recorded include "Wake Up Screaming", "Second To None" and "Live To Win".
Paul has been collaborating with Swedish songwriter Andreas Carlsson (BON JOVI, DEF LEPPARD), and for the first time in 15 or so years, Desmond Child (BON JOVI, AEROSMITH). "It's magic," Stanley said of the collaboration. Paul went on to add, "From the songs to the playing and singing, everything about this album is consistent without compromise. The album is exactly who I am now and what I want to be doing. It's got all the sides of what I do, so it's not surprising that it's got elements of everything I've done plus a leap into the 21st century. I don't need to hype it. I'll leave that to everyone else who's heard it."

ASPEN, Colo. - Friends and family of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson are preparing to pepper the sky with the late writer's ashes. His cremated remains will be shot into the air Aug. 20 from a cannon installed on a 150-foot-high tower behind his home in Woody Creek.
The 67-year-old Thompson, who had been in failing health, shot himself at his home on Feb. 20 after a long and flamboyant career.
Johnny Depp, a close friend of Thompson's, has hired a Beverly Hills, Calif., events planner to oversee the event, which will be closed to the public.
"Hunter meant a lot to me. He was another hero and someone that I got to know very well because I played him in `Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.' We got very, very close," Depp said in a recent interview with AP Television News.
"He was a great pal, one of my best friends. We had talked a couple of times about his last wishes to be shot out of a cannon of his own design. ... All I'm doing is trying to make sure his last wish comes true. I just want to send my pal out the way he wants to go out," the 42-year-old actor said in the interview.
Anita Thompson, the writer's widow, said a public commemoration of Thompson will be held later.

Longtime Garbage bandmates Shirley Manson, Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker were said to be on the verge of parting ways a couple of years ago, that the collaboration may have run its course. However, the group's latest album, Bleed Like Me, and tour schedule show there's much more to come from this hit-making ensemble.
The trek new begins July 27 with a gig at Costa Mesa, Calif's Pacific Amphitheatre followed by San Diego's Street Scene festival July 29, and then heads to Mexico for three shows August 3-7.
The group will jet back to the U.S. for performances at Underground Atlanta August 13 and NYC's Randall Island for the AmsterJam mash-up concert August 20.
The seven-city European leg kicks off October 12 at the U.K.'s Apollo Manchester and hits six stops before wrapping up at Usher Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland, October 23.
Garbage's brush with rock star burnout has re-inspired the group to take its patented sound to the next level, technically and artistically.
Vig told Chartattack that fear was a motivator in the band's creative resurgence.
"When we got back together we felt a sense of desperation, like we were losing this band and we had to play as if our lives depended on it."

Emilio Estevez has signed on to appear in a sequel to cult John Hughes Brat Pack movie "The Breakfast Club", despite missing out on joining his castmates for a MTV Movie Awards reunion last month due to a family emergency reports Contact Music.
Estevez urges fans of the film not to take his no-show as a sign he's not interested in a planned sequel. He adds, "John's got an idea for a sequel - mature aged students at college, all doing time again - for some reason or another.
"The twist would be that we're all the polar opposites of how we were in the original. Judd Nelson for instance, would now be the straight-laced one. I'm definitely in. If it happens, I'm there.

NASHVILLE PUSSY have inked a deal with Steamhammer/SPV Records. The group's new album, "Get Some", was produced by Daniel Rey (RAMONES) and mixed by Glen Robinson (VOIVOD, ANNIHILATOR). The CD, which features a cover version of IKE & TINA TURNER's "Nutbush City Limits", is scheduled for release on September 26.
Following the release of "Get Some", the band are set to embark on an extensive tour, determined to document impressively what their audience has come to expect under the heading of "spectacular stage show."
NASHVILLE PUSSY came together in 1996. "We were tired of seeing bands that were boring, all style and no soul. So we decided to play the kind of music that we would like to hear," commented guitarist Ruyter Suys on the birth of her band. Ever since, NASHVILLE PUSSY have been performing a strenuous annual gig marathon, touring with acts like SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, SEVENDUST, MOTÖRHEAD, MISFITS, DICTATORS, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and LYNYRD SKYNYRD.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to remind you guys that I will be at the Glamourcon Show in Chicago in Aug.
Just go to OfficialSeka.com click on the calander and it will give you all of the info about the show and all of the other things that I am doing.
Hope to see you all there.
Lustfully Yours,
Seka
Seka, born Lynda Grasser on April 15, 1954, might be the most popular porn star in history.
In the 1970s, Seka managed an X-rated bookstore. She became interested in the business, which she felt sold a lot of inferior merchandise with poor acting. She wanted to do it right, and she also realized a lot of money could be made. She headed to Los Angeles with the purpose of becoming a porn star.
Her first major hit was "Blonde Fire," made in 1978. She exploded onto the scene just as porn was making the switch to video, and consequently became a major star at a time of maximum exposure. Her films are among the most popular erotica of the 1980s. Seka became so popular that her name was used in many of her movie titles, such as "Inside Seka," "Taste of Seka", "Rockin With Seka," "Seduction of Seka," "Seka's Teenage Diary," and "My Sister Seka."
She appeared on talk shows to defend pornography against attacks from religious and feminist groups. She provides a contrast with Traci Lords, who also made around 100 films in the 1980s. Traci worked underage, under the effects of drugs, and under the influence of sleazy managers. Traci does not like her past, which shows the unpleasant, abusive side of the porn industry. Seka, on the other hand, was regarded as a shrewd businesswoman, she enjoyed what she did, and she is still making money off of her fan club, which she runs from her home in Chicago.
Her celebrity outside of the porn world (she even made a cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live)established the grounds for later stars like Jenna Jameson who does prime-time guest appearances and has her own action figure.
Seka's last film was "Careful he May be Watching," made in 1986. She has also gone by the names Dorothy H. Patton and Dotty Yonz.

One of the most anticipated events of the summer FLASHBACK WEEKEND makes it's triumphant return to Chicago. Amongst the events and the celebrities on tap will be the "HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES" Retrospective and Cast Reunion and 'THE EVIL DEAD' CAST REUNION.

Norway's legendary eccentric artist MORTIIS recently did backing vocals on a song called "Maze" for Norwegian act APOPTYGMA BERZERK's upcoming album "You and Me Against the World". No further information is currently available.
As previously reported, MORTIIS has completed a remix of the GIRLS UNDER GLASS song "Touch Me", now re-titled "Touch Me (Cleanse & Corrupt Mix)", for their upcoming download single, "Touch Me". Mortiis has also completed a remix for Italian band DOPE STARS INC.'s song "Self Destructive Corp.", now re-titled "Self Destructive Corp (Midnight Mass Mix)". Mortiis also laid down vocals for the Norwegian/American project SCUM, featuring Samoth (ZYKLON, ex-EMPEROR), Faust (ex-EMPEROR), Happy Tom (TURBONEGRO), Casey Chaos (AMEN) and Cosmocrator (MINDGRINDER). He contributed backing vocals to the song "Backstabbers Go to Heaven" for SCUM's upcoming debut album, "Gospels for the Sick" (due September 5 via Dogjob Records, a division of Tuba) and lead vocals and lyrics to a song called "Speaking in Tongues", which will be released on an EP.

The superhero movie "Fantastic Four" overcame some of the worst reviews of the year to top the North American box office with better-than-expected weekend ticket sales of $56 million, its distributor 20th Century Fox said on Sunday.
The News Corp.-owned studio had hoped for an opening in the mid- to high-$30 million range. The film, which cost a little over $100 million to make, is based on characters in the comic book stable of Marvel Enterprises Inc., and had been in the works for 11 years.
"Fantastic Four," which revolves around a quartet imbued with special powers such as invisibility and elasticity after a space mission gone wrong, appeared to fill moviegoers' desire for something "light and frothy," said Fox distribution president Bruce Snyder.
But critics were unimpressed. The New York Times said the film was "fantastic only its commitment to mediocrity," while USA Today was marginally kinder, calling it a "ho-hum futuristic foray."
The film's less-than-stellar cast includes Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis. It was directed by Tim Story, best known for the urban comedy "Barbershop."

I just got the new 2 DVD Live PRONG compilation and it fucking RULES. The quality is amazing perfect and so accurate. And there are a lot of fun extras. if you're a fan this collection is essential. If you're not that familiar with PRONG but have heard great things about them I highly recommend this thing. That's all, I can't give high enough praise to this. TRUST AZ, I have never steered you wrong, but I always "Prove You Wrong".
Founded by CBGBs former soundman Tommy Victor in 1986, Prong pioneered the burgeoning industrial rock sound of the early '90s; after disbanding for a number of years to pursue solo projects, they reunited in 2002 for an enormously successful American tour. Fans thrilled to the sound of 2003's SCORPIO RISING, their first studio recording in seven years, which featured the group's trademark brand of groove metal. Including more than four hours of material, THE VAULT is truly that, a wealth of live footage that shows a living legend at work. The collection is comprised of a complete concert at Amsterdam's Melkweg, the 2003 "With Full Force" show in Germany, and a 2003 performance at the Hultsfred Festival.

SOURCE: MTV NEWS — by Kurt Loder
(Johnny Cash passed away on September 12, 2003 due to complications from diabetes. The following article was written in August after Cash granted MTV News an interview in his Tennessee home.)
HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee — Johnny Cash, a prototype of the hard-living, finger-flipping rock and roll hell-raiser, is 71 years old now, and still resident in the grand, rambling old house he bought more than 30 years ago on the banks of old Hickory Lake, half an hour outside of Nashville.
Here, he's surrounded by the memories of a long life and the artifacts of a lustrous career. There are framed singles — his earliest hits, some on old 78 rpm discs; a room filled with more than 70 guitars, many of them rare (he's been a life-long collector); and personal letters of admiration from the last five U.S. presidents. Johnny Cash has a lot to look back on.
He was present at the creation of white rock and roll, which is to say rockabilly. Signed to the pivotal Sun Records label in Memphis in 1955, he became part of a pioneering rockabilly roster that included Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and, briefly, the original rockabilly, Elvis Presley.
Rockabillies were, as the name implies, rhythm-and-blues-addled Southern white boys prone to speaking in bop-cat cadences, sculpting their hair into oily pompadours and twitching around in taste-defying threads tailored in eye-catching pink-and-black color schemes. Grown-ups were naturally not thrilled about this, but a nation of bored 1950s youth got real interested right away.
Rockabilly was loud, clattersome, revved-up music, and Johnny Cash was right in the thick of it. But he was never completely a part of it. His stark, almost muttering baritone was a little too dignified for the form, his simple bass-and-guitar backup was a little too austere to raise a real ruckus, and his country inclinations (he grew up on an Arkansas cotton farm, and started out fronting a country trio) were something he never cared to obscure.
He was also a little dark, right from the beginning. On his second Sun single, "Folsom Prison Blues," released in 1956, he famously sang: "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die." This was not especially transgressive in itself — both rock and country music are rich in songs of mayhem. But death has remained an unusually pervasive theme throughout Cash's career. Love, God, Murder — a three-disc compilation he released in 2000 — devotes one whole CD to songs of homicide, including "Don't Take Your Guns to Town," "The Long Black Veil" and, of course, "Delia's Gone" — the video for which shows Cash shoveling dirt onto the just-dug grave of his recently deceased beloved, who'll be troubling him no more.

Avi Arad, president and chief executive officer of Marvel Studios, told SCI FI Wire that the success of such comic-book-based films as X-Men and Spider-Man has resulted in an opportunity to introduce comics to younger readers. "Actually, after Spider-Man, it was the first time we saw the resurgence of comics to kids," Arad said during a press conference to promote the upcoming release of the Fantastic Four movie, which is based on the long-running title created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. "All of a sudden there was a new discovery.
our comics at 7-Eleven and into Walgreen's, places where a kid can get to. One of the issues with the business was that kids couldn't get to the store. With Fantastic Four we went a step further. We actually did a program with the schools called 'Do the Right Thing,' with lesson plans. We brought the comics right to the kids, and the reaction was fantastic."
Arad said that some of the comics now available in major chain stores are even geared directly to younger kids. "The philosophy is 'read anything,'" he said. "If you can read comics and have fun with it, that's even better. So now when we put out movies, especially things like Fantastic Four, that is positive and has wish fulfillment and empowerment and is on the soft end of what is right, we support it with comics written for that. As you know, Ultimate Fantastic Four was a huge success, and this movie obviously will help push that agenda." The Fantastic Four movie arrives in theaters on July 8.

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) and the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) have announced a new partnership.
Beginning this month, two of the nation’s leading organizations dedicated to the rights of consenting adults and free speech have teamed up to network, educate the public on overlapping issues, raise funding, and reach out to new members.
The announcement is being made on the heels of the filing by the FSC of a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Colorado challenging the constitutionality of 18 USC § 2257, the federal record-keeping and labeling law which is being expanded to include the Internet, and which has had a direct effect on leather, fetish and swingers groups, their publications and outreach efforts, as well as websites and a variety of businesses that serve these communities.
The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is an organization committed to creating a political, legal and social environment in the U.S. that advances equal rights of consenting adults who practice forms of alternative sexual expression.

FILTER mainman Richard Patrick has posted the following message to the "Rich's Words" section of the group's official web site:
"Hey, everyone. The last few months have been a blast! My new bandmates and I have been trying our songs out in a couple of rehearsal halls around town. It's amazing how playing live in a room together can add new dimensions to the music. I've been onstage with them once before, but it's been nothing like this.
"So far we've got a ton of material recorded, all of which I'm really proud of. I know I've mentioned this before but, these guys are some of the best musicians and songwriters in rock and you can really hear it in the music."
FILTER's last studio album, "The Amalgamut", was released in 2002.

FMQB.com is reporting that former VAN HALEN frontman David Lee Roth is rumored to be replacing Howard Stern as Infinity Broadcasting's next radio star after The King Of All Media winds down his run on terrestrial radio. The Roth rumor, which has legs, was started by a report from Steppin' Out magazine's Chaunce Hayden.
In an online post, Hayden wrote: "Howard Stern's successor has been found! It's none other than '80s rocker David Lee Roth. Infinity Broadcasting isn't commenting and Roth has been asked to keep mum until it's officially announced. But an inside source at Infinity has confirmed the signing. Roth auditioned for the job both in L.A. and Boston and got very positive feed back from listeners. Roth has been running ads in trade publications looking for a producer 'For a HUGE radio show.' Roth is said to be taking over for Stern in early September, three months before the shock jocks contract is due to expire."
When reached last night (July 6) about this report, Infinity VP of Communications Karen Mateo told FMQB the company was "looking at a number of personalities to replace Howard" and added there was not an announcement pending. A call by FMQB to Roth's management has gone unreturned.
The Roth rumor could fit though. Diamond Dave has done a couple stints at Infinity outlets WZLX/Boston and KLSX/Los Angeles. If the rumor comes to fruition, it remains to be seen what stations Roth would pick up, as Infinity chairman and CEO Joel Hollander has stated that numerous personalities would likely replace Stern across his current affiliates.

HOLMBY HILLS, Calif. — For the first time since he purchased the Playboy Mansion in 1971 for just over $1 million, Hugh Hefner has opened the front gates of his mystical playpen to the paying public. Hugh Hefner is letting the public into the Playboy Mansion through a new E! reality show, set to debut Aug. 7.
And for a modest fee, sightseers will be allowed to tour the grounds of his gothic English Tudor and experience first hand Hef's monkey cage, aviary, redwood forest and the much-whispered-about grotto where stars such as Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. were said to have romped after dark.
But don't go whipping out your AAA discount card just yet. Hefner's home won't open as a tourist attraction until after his death. And with a mother who lived to 101 and three twentysomething live-in girlfriends keeping him young at heart, the spry 79-year-old is still living life to the fullest.
In the meantime, Hef's fans will get some early sneak peeks. PlayStation 2 has released a video game set at the Mansion, and Hefner is executive-producing an eight-episode E! reality series, The Girls Next Door (Aug. 7, 10 p.m. ET/PT) at his home, which explains the cameras and cables hanging from floor to ceiling.
Hefner, after entering his study wearing his trademark black silk pajamas and velvet burgundy robe, says he had just been reviewing a screenplay for a movie about his life written by Scott Silver (8 Mile) and to be produced by Brian Grazer (Cinderella Man). (He says he should be portrayed by someone boyish, like Johnny Depp.)
The estate, built in 1927, he says, is more than a home: "It's a corporate facility and one of our most valuable assets; probably the most famous private residence other than the White House."
And though he has been offered $75 million for the place, he has decided to keep it for posterity.
"The hope and intention is that it will continue after I'm gone and become a variation on (Elvis) Presley's home (Graceland)."
To simplify his life (and allow for a more palatable premise for E! viewers), Hefner recently downsized his posse of seven girlfriends to "a very special three" — Holly Madison, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt.
"I'm emphasizing the quality these days," he says of the women, who will join him in a Playboy photo spread in November.
But Hefner says his heart belongs only to 25-year-old Madison, whom he met 3½ years ago at a pool party at the Mansion. He invited her out on the town, and two days later, she moved in.
In a segment for the reality show, Madison (who has the famous Playboy rabbit symbol tattooed on the small of her back) leads a tour of the grounds, which also have a tanning salon, a game house (with a mattress floor) and a menagerie of caged and free-roaming birds and beasts.
A separate home across the street houses playmates and visiting playmate hopefuls. Hef calls it "a halfway house."
His estranged second wife, Kimberley Conrad, and their sons, Marston, 15, and Cooper, 14, live in an adjoining house.
Hef blames his 1989 marriage to Conrad (the two separated in 1998 but never divorced) and his then-more-settled lifestyle for a drop of public interest in his empire.
"I'd been off the scene for about 8½ years when I came back as a bachelor," he says. "I believe a whole generation had been waiting for me to come back out and play."
That's why he'll most likely never marry Madison, who says she's comfortable with the arrangement she and Hef share with Wilkinson and Marquardt.
"In the past, things weren't so great," Madison says, though she won't reveal what went on (or goes on) behind closed doors. "My lips are sealed. What happens at the Mansion stays at the Mansion."

Bruce Willis is being tipped to play Nick Fury Agent of Shield in the film adaptation of the comic says SFX Magazine & Moviehole.
The eye-patched adorned, cigar-chompin Marvel comic character is the director of an international espionage organization called S.H.I.E.L.D, who are constantly going up against rogues like the wicked Hydra. Samuel L. Jackson was rumoured to be up for the lead last year.
Much like "The Punisher" with Dolph Lundgren, 'Fury' first hit the screen in the 90's as a lacklustre David Hasselhoff video vehicle. This new version will hit 2007/2008.

We hope everyone had a happy and safe July 4 weekend. We certainly did and details will appear later here on the site. Thanks to Brad Altman and his entourage for making it a spectacular and somewhat unforgettable with forgettable moments.
Jesse was wonderful as ever and we even made a few new friends. Photos will be forthcoming. Right Karlton.
As we get back into the groove be looking for a few new Christopher Curry DVD reviews and the ever-growing and always pertinent onslaught of updates.
Nothing new on the horizon other then Kelly's Big Birthday Bonanza. And a few scattered concerts.
