Ron White will be hitting the road with his signature whiskey, cigar and stool until late December, with dates throughout the South, Midwest and West Coast.
You can hardly even call it a new tour, since "Tater Salad" has been on the road basically all year and he'll have only a two-week break between his September 3 show in Loveland, Colo., and the start of the new dates.
White's tenacity is nothing new. The comedian has been performing around the country almost non-stop for the last few years, as a headliner and on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour with friends Jeff Foxworthy, Larry The Cable Guy and Bill Engvall.
This fall's dates are mostly in large theatres and arenas, with some casinos on the books for December.
White first stumbled into comedy while working as a window salesman in the mid-1980s. Last year, he told Pollstar about his humble beginnings.
"Some guys at work had gone to an open mic night at a club that had just opened. They came back and said, ‘Ron, you're funnier than these guys. You ought to give it a try.'"
He took their advice and ended up meeting Foxworthy on his very first night at the club, starting a working relationship that would continue through the highly successful Blue Collar tour and a solid presence on Comedy Central.

NEW YORK - The lease at CBGB's, the Bowery's venerable punk club, expires at midnight Wednesday. With the clock running down on the musical landmark, there's only one thing certain about its future: supporters of the club won't surrender without a fight.
A Washington Square Park rally, hosted by Little Steven Van Zandt, aims to put public pressure on CBGB's landlord, the Bowery Residents' Committee, to sign a new deal. But the two sides haven't spoken in weeks, and no last-minute talks were scheduled before or after the rally.
Blondie and other bands will perform in the park, along with politicians and other CBGB supporters.
An increasingly frustrated Van Zandt blasted BRC executive Muzzy Rosenblatt for the inability to reach a new agreement. The E Street Band guitarist, "Sopranos" star and radio show host entered the negotiations about six weeks ago.
"This is starting to get ugly now," said Van Zandt. "We're trying to take the high road. But it's quite obvious now that Muzzy's not rational, not reasonable. If he has the same compassion for the homeless as he does for the city of New York, I've got to be concerned."
Rosenblatt declined to comment specifically on what would happen once the lease runs out. "I'll do what is in the best interest of the BRC and the people it serves to make sure the property is used responsible," he said.
Rosenblatt's group — an agency that aids the homeless — holds a 45-year lease on the building and houses 250 homeless people above the club. CBGB's is their lone commercial tenant; their rent feud dates back five years, when the committee went to court to collect more than $300,000 in back rent from the club.
The current rent is $19,000 a month, although that figure was expected to at least double under any new lease. The club's landlord-tenant woes were reminiscent of the fight over The Bottom Line, the vintage Greenwich Village club that closed in December 2003.
CBGB's won a legal decision earlier this month when a Manhattan civil court judge ruled that the club couldn't be evicted for a bookkeeping mistake that left owner Hilly Kristal about $100,000 behind in his rent.
It was Kristal who started the club in December 1973, creating a space that eventually spawned bands the Ramones, Blondie and the Talking Heads. The club eventually gained an international reputation as the birthplace of punk.
On Tuesday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city would try to help CBGB's relocate if a new lease agreement doesn't happen. The mayor held up a black T-shirt with a simple message: "SAVE CBGB."
"CBGB's is a great New York institution," the mayor said. "It's more than, you know, another club. ... If they owner of the building they are in cannot be convinced to come to an agreement with them, then we'll help them do something else."

Coming Sept. 27 via Sanctuary, "Rantology" sports the new song "The Great Satan," which will appear on a new Ministry studio album next April. A snippet of the cut can be sampled on the group's official Web site www.ministrymusic.org
In addition, the first 1,000 copies of "Rantology" ordered from the site will be autographed by the band.

AZ to have a Corona with Corina
Adult superstar and MK ViXXXen Corina Taylor will be in Chicago to attend Glamour Con www.glamourcon.com with MK Founder/Publisher Alex Zander on Sat and Sun Aug 27 and 28.
Corina who has made a lot of mainstream press as of late due to her link to actor Jared Leto has also been on the Howard Stern show a few times over the past year. MK fans may remember her from the faux adult feature Alex Zanders "50 First Fucks". A soft-spoken and shy little beauty, Corina is a family girl who is very close to her mother, who is proud of her accomplishments in the adult industry. She is a new mother to a beautiful baby girl as of last spring and in school full time.

She has also served as the inspiration for Monster Magnet's Dave Wyndorf and the rest of the band. The Little Rock native and adult film star made her debut in the bands latest video Unbroken (Hotel Baby).
The 24 year old Arkansas beauty was tabbed by the band after she was asked by them after seeing her pictures on the internet. After a couple of days of shooting with the band, Corina Taylor found herself enjoying the switch to music videos from adult videos.
See more of Corina at www.corinataylor.net and www.groups.yahoo.com/group/corinataylormail The site www.clubcorina.com is coming soon

TYPE O NEGATIVE drummer Johnny Kelly has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"Here's what's going on. Peter [Steele] and Josh [Silver] are currently completing their tracks for the 'Roadrunner All Stars' CD. Hopefully they will be done this week. After that, we go back into rehearsals to work on new songs for the next CD. We're shooting to have the new cd released in early 2006. There will be no tours or shows of any kind until the CD is completed and close to the release date. Other than that, I went to the movies the other night. I've been waiting for my car to get out of the shop for over a month. I washed my truck the other day. I still need to take a shower today. My 26" kick drum finally arrived for my Pearl Masterworks green sparkle kit last week but the color was wrong so I had to send it back and they're making me a new one. My LED ZEPPELIN cover band is playing in Brooklyn this weekend. Peter being dead was a hoax and there is no Easter Bunny. Blah Blah Blah, you get the picture..."
As previously reported, TYPE O NEGATIVE frontman Peter Steele will be joining the cast of the new vampire movie, "Tao of M", this month. Steele will be taking on the role of Viktor Baine, the vampire who sires Midael, another vampire who terrorizes New Orleans, played by Steve Blaze (LILLIAN AXE, NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE). Eric Morris also stars, and members of TWISTED SISTER are slated to portray a group of "false priests" who get on Midael's bad side, according to Fangoria. James L. Bills is directing the hi-def production, produced by Milena Rimassa-Merrill and featuring makeup FX by Matt Green, director of "Vicious".
"Tao of M" is reportedly being shot by Velvet Life Productions (the production company formed by Blaze, Morris and Bills) in a joint venture with Isis Films. Shooting for "Tao of M", which is based on the half-hour indie film "Slayer Zed and the City of the Dead", began in early July, and the moviemakers are aiming for a world premiere this Halloween.
Rimassa-Merrill, President/CEO of Isis Films, took the pre-production trailer for the film, as well as some promotional material, to the the Cannes Film Festival 2005, where it was reportedly well received.

"So, here goes.
"August 25th, at the Palms Hotel, I'll be celebrating my birthday. Television cameras will be there to capture the madness.

"If you can sneak in and get by our VIP guest list, come up and say hi."

Too cheap to grab a taxi, Matt Sorum stands on Sunset hoping someone will recognize him and give him a lift home.
This hilarious babble courtesy of our friends over at www.lukeford.com
(Scott) Fayner Posts: Matt Sorum, if you don't remember, is the louse who once managed my old band, then following our demise admittedly stole the only song I've ever written, modified it a bit and used it to win a Grammy this year with his band Velvet Revolver. Obviously I harbor some ill-will towards him, and with that relish every chance to share tales which belittle his ego.
Craven tells me he was recently at the new Rock Bar or whatever they call it which is co-owned by Dave Navarro, Sorum and some others, that was also attended by Menopausal rocker Matt Sorum.
When the night ended, Matt was given a tab for the drinks consumed at his table full of people knocking back expensive booze for several hours. Craven says Matt was suddenly screaming and bitching to the waitress about his highly discounted bill which totaled around $500. Reaping millions as a hired gun for the Cult and Guns N Roses, and now with Velvet Revolver, Matt apparently felt he deserved to be treated better with a lower tab 'cause he is a rock star.
Bitch Bitch Bitch Bitch Bitch went Mr. Sorum. Craven says it was embarrassing to watch.
Sorum eventually paid the bill, pocket change to him really, but left the waitress a whopping tip of zero dollars and zero cents.
That's right. No tip. As if the waitress was at fault, right?

SPIN missed Nikka Costa's Bum "Even J-Lo has to shout!"
NEW YORK - Spin magazine has built a veritable rock star Frankenstein, composed of Michael Stipe's skull, Elvis Presley's pelvis and Madonna's bellybutton.
Spin charts the 25 "most incredible" rock star body parts in its September issue, now on newsstands. Madonna's navel tops the list.
"It's what first marked her as a mainstream provocateur," senior Spin writer Marc Spitz writes.
At No. 2 is the liver of Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, which is so durable, Spitz writes, that "when Richards finally passes, they'll line the exterior of the space shuttle with his liver tissue."
REM singer Michael Stipe's oft-shaved skull comes in third, due to a hairline that's "not too high like Moby's or too low" like Sinead O'Connor's.
Other body parts include Presley's hip-shaking pelvis, Gene Simmons' tongue, Tina Turner's legs, 50 Cent's chest, Bruce Springsteen's butt and Tommy Lee's — well, you know, it's that body part below the waist.
Apparently the experts at Spin aren't aware of Peter Steele.

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan - He has outlawed opera and ballet and railed against long hair and gold teeth, but now Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov is determined to wipe out another perceived scourge: lip synching.
Niyazov has ordered a ban on lip synching performances across the tightly controlled Central Asian nation, citing "a negative effect on the development of singing and musical art," the president's office said Tuesday.
"Unfortunately, one can see on television old voiceless singers lip-synching their old songs," Niyazov told a Cabinet meeting in comments broadcast on state TV on Tuesday. "Don't kill talents by using lip synching... Create our new culture."
Under Niyazov's order, lip synching is now prohibited at all cultural events, concerts, on television — and at private celebrations such as weddings.
Niyazov has led the former Soviet republic for 20 years, creating a vast personality cult around himself and issuing decrees regulating behavior in all walks of life.
In 2001, Niyazov banned opera and ballet as not corresponding with the national mentality. Last year, he called for young people not to get gold tooth caps and urged authorities to crack down on young men wearing beards or long hair.

LOS ANGELES - Scarlett Johansson was involved in an accident last week trying to duck photographers who had tracked her to a Disneyland parking lot, her publicist said.
The actress wasn't hurt in Thursday's accident in Anaheim, according to Marcel Pariseau. Police said they were aware of what happened but did not have details.
The incident is the latest involving actors trying to escape the paparazzi. In May, a celebrity photographer was arrested on suspicion of hitting actress Lindsay Lohan's car near a shopping mall. Prosecutors announced earlier this month that paparazzi who allegedly chased actress Reese Witherspoon from her gym to her home won't face criminal charges.
Johansson, 20, was with two friends when she noticed four sports utility vehicles following her on Interstate 5 after she left her Hollywood home, Pariseau said.
Johansson, 20, paid the $10 fee to enter a lot at the amusement park when she tried to get away from the vehicles and swerved, clipping the right side of car carrying a woman and her two daughters, Pariseau said.
"(The) four SUVs surrounded the accident," Pariseau said. "She saw one photographer come out of his car and start snapping away."
Arnold Cousart, co-owner of JFX Direct photo agency, acknowledged that two of his photographers had been following Johansson for four days and had tracked her to Disneyland, along with at least one other photographer from a rival agency.
But he said that his photographers had nothing to do with the collision.
"Our photographers were about a block (behind her) when the collision occurred," Cousart said. "She was basically by herself. There wasn't any car behind her closer than 40 yards."
Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Rick Martinez said no one filed a police report and police are not investigating the accident. California Highway Patrol officers who responded to the accident did not take a report because the crash occurred within the city of Anaheim, a CHP spokesman said.
The Los Angeles County district attorney's office is investigating whether increasingly aggressive celebrity photographers are initiating confrontations to capture lucrative photos.
Johansson, who has starred in such movies as "Lost in Translation" and "The Island," has left Los Angeles and hopes that state legislators will enact a law "to avoid these situations," Pariseau said.
"She's frustrated," he said. "She can't deal with it anymore."

Alex will have a booth w/MK's main camera man Karlton.

They say he sold the rights without their consent and is pocketing the profit.
It's been over a decade since the original members of Guns N' Roses went their separate ways, but their feud is still going strong.
Slash and Duff McKagan filed a federal lawsuit in Los Angeles on Wednesday against Axl Rose, accusing the GN'R frontman of changing the publisher of the group's copyrighted songs without their consent and pocketing the royalties.
The lawsuit follows Rose's multimillion-dollar publishing deal with Sanctuary earlier this year, in which he sold the publishing rights to the GN'R back catalog. "Suffering an apparent attack of arrogance and ego ... Rose recently decided that he is no longer willing to acknowledge the contributions of his former partners and bandmates in having created some of rock's greatest hits," the lawsuit reads.
Though the Sanctuary deal was reported on by the press, Slash and Duff claim they weren't aware of the scope of Rose's dealings — which they say he "omitted and concealed" — until their expected royalty payments for the first quarter of 2005 didn't arrive in the mail. "When the ASCAP check didn't come, we called and they looked into it," McKagan's lawyer, Glen Miskel, said. "We didn't know all the facts at first."
Miskel said that only last week did they discover that Rose had notified ASCAP on or around May 26 that he was switching over the publishing from Guns N' Roses to Black Frog Music Publishing (which he owns) and Kobalt Songs Music Publishing (which is a joint venture with and handles the administration of Sanctuary's publishing). Consequently, the ASCAP check for the first quarter of 2005 — some $92,000 — went to Rose and "his accomplices" instead, the lawsuit contends.
"Rose's actions were malicious, fraudulent and oppressive, and undertaken in conscious disregard of [Slash and Duff's] property rights," the lawsuit reads. They're seeking damages for fraud, copyright infringement and breach of fiduciary duty, among other things.
Sanctuary didn't return calls for comment.

Universal Home Video has been dropping little bits of info on their DVD release of George Romero's Land of the Dead and today they've finally made an official announcement and displayed the cover art. You can find all the details inside. In Land, the zombies having taken over the world and those left alive are confined to a walled-in city that keeps out the corpse corps. Anarchy rules the streets, with the wealthy insulated and living in fortified skyscrapers. Drama revolves around a group of scavengers who must thwart an attempt to overthrow the city while the dead are evolving from brainless slow-moving creatures into more advanced creatures.
Universal has announced rated and unrated editions of George A. Romero's Land of the Dead which stars the likes of Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper and Asia Argento. Both discs will be available to own from the 18th October this year, and should retail at around $29.99 a piece. The rated edition (runtime 1 hour 33 minutes) will be available in full frame only, whereas the unrated edition (1 hour 37 minutes) will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. Each will carry English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks. Extras wise, both discs will carry an audio commentary with George Romero, producer Peter Grumwald and editor Michael Doherty, an Undead Again: The Making of Land of the Dead featurette, A Day with the Living Dead featurette, deleted scenes and a When Shaun met George featurette. The unrated disc will include all of that, along with a Bringing the Dead to Life featurette, a Scenes of Carnage feature, a feature on the Zombie Effects from Green Screen to Finished Scene, a Bringing the Storyboards to Life feature, and Scream Tests: Zombie Casting Call. I'm afraid Universal hasn't released the rated artwork yet, but some early unrated artwork can be found below:

WWW- A sex tape featuring actor Tom Sizemore is on sale online - but his former girlfriend Heidi Fleiss says you should save your money.
Last week, xPays, the same company that let Web surfers hear the moans of Paris Hilton, started peddling footage of the "Black Hawk Down" star getting down with several women. Sizemore's manager, Jason Tucker, says he isn't sure how the tapes came to be sold, but he believes his client "has a legal right to some of the proceeds."
"He's not embarrassed by [the tape]," Tucker tells us. "Tom said, 'It's the maraschino cherry on the banana split that's been my life.'"
What's more, Tucker suggests, viewers will get their money's worth. Portraying Sizemore as a reluctant superstud, Tucker says the "Saving Private Ryan" star, now in rehab, suffers from priapism - a medical condition that leaves his privates in a constant state of arousal. "He can have sex nine times without stopping," Tucker contends.
Fleiss thinks not.
"He needed Viagra when I was with him," the former Hollywood Madam tells us.
Fleiss also alleges the macho "Natural Born Killers" actor once invited her hunky ex-boyfriend John Enos to join them in a ménage à trois.
Enos, who starred on "The Young and the Restless," says he turned them down.
"I'd rather be hit by a train," he tells us. "What would I need him for, except to get me drinks and light my cigarette?"
Tucker denies there's anything remotely gay about Sizemore, based on "the relationships that I've seen him in." He also argues that Fleiss has an ax to grind, since Sizemore was convicted in 2003 of assaulting her.
Fleiss claims that Sizemore "has been trying to market these tapes forever. Nobody wanted them. Who wants to see him having sex?"
As for rumors that one Sizemore sex tape features Elizabeth Hurley, its reported the actress is not on the currently available tape, but adds that two more Sizemore tapes are said to "feature the actor with different female celebrities."

Although it was already known that Jefferey Combs would be returning in House of Re-Animator, the fourth Re-Animator, if it happened- but how about a 5th and 6th film?! Max writes in from the Horrorfind Weekend convention that took place this past Saturday in Glen Burnie, Maryland, "While meeting Jeffrey Combs I asked him about a Re-Animator 4, he stated he is preparing to sign on to not only 4, but 5 and 6 as well. No word if they will be theatrical releases yet, but he definately said he is signing on." How's that for goods?! House is a political satire that should certain people be back in office, then I would do it. I hope I do not have to go ahead with it, but if I do, it would be about V.P. Cheney passing from a heart attack and since he basically runs everything, Dr. West is called in to bring him back.

ONE BAND, FOUR NEW COLLECTIONS, 20 YEARS OF MAD THRASHING METAL!
ANTHRAX CONTINUES TO SPREAD THE DISEASE WITH ITS FIRST DOUBLE DISC ANTHOLOGY AND VIDEO COLLECTION PLUS A live ALBUM AND
A LIVE DVD--ALL UNLEASHED SEPTEMBER 20
Pioneering metal band Anthrax, one of the genre’s most innovative and respected groups, is back with a vengeance. Commemorating its 20th anniversary by touring with its original lineup for the first time in 13 years, Anthrax is exclusively playing its classics from 1985 to 1991, both on the Gigantour in early September (western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest) and with Judas Priest from September 24 through October 18 (across Canada as well as the East and Midwest of the U.S.) with additional Judas Priest and Anthrax headline dates to be added.
Those gems are also heard on the band’s most comprehensive “best of” collection ever issued, its first two-CD retrospective, Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991), and its first video compilation, the DVD Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991) The Videos (both on Island/UMe), and on separate live CD and DVD packages Alive 2 (2005) (on Sanctuary Records) which documents the group’s momentous summer 2005 reunion tour. All four packages will be released September 20, 2005.
One of the greatest metal bands in history, Anthrax reunited its original lineup of singer Joey Belladonna, guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz, bassist Frank Bello and drummer Charlie Benante with the Alive 2 (2005) DVD capturing the actual meeting in which the five came together for the first time in over 10 years. Along with band rehearsals and behind-the-scenes footage, the DVD also spotlights 13 performances on the group’s triumphant reunion tour. The Alive 2 (2005) CD reprises the audio for 11 of those songs (“Madhouse” and “I’m The Man” are only on the DVD): “Among The Living,” “Caught In A Mosh,” “I Am The Law,” “A.I.R.,” “N.F.L.,” “Deathrider,” “Medusa,” “In My World,” “Indians,” “Time” and “Be All, End All”--and adds “Antisocial.” In a unique twist, the booklets from the DVD and CD releases form an exclusive poster.
As for the original recordings, Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991) marks the first time that Anthrax’s recordings are being released with newly remastered versions of their classic hits. It begins with the follow-up to Anthrax’s 1984 Fistful Of Metal debut, Spreading The Disease, which appeared in 1985 and was re-released in 1986 when indie Megaforce pacted with Island. Anthrology includes “Madhouse,” “A.I.R.,” “Armed And Dangerous,” “Lone Justice,” “The Enemy,” “Medusa” and “Gung-Ho,” tracks that defined the band’s take-no-prisoners speed metal style.
1987’s Among The Living built on Anthrax’s grassroots following with signature tracks such as “I Am The Law,” “Caught In A Mosh,” “Indians,” “Among The Living,” “Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.)” and “Skeleton In The Closet,” and the album went gold. Later that year, the EP I’m The Man, with a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and three versions of the title song (Anthrology reprises the Def Uncensored Radio Version), broke new ground with its then-unheard of fusion of rock and rap--and went platinum.
The 1988 gold follow-up, State Of Euphoria, included the raucous “Antisocial,” “Be All, End All,” “Make Me Laugh,” “Who Cares Wins,” “Now It’s Dark” and “Finale.” Also heard on Anthrology is the rare French version of “Antisocial” from the 1989 Penikufesin EP released only in Europe and Japan. Persistence Of Time (1990), again gold, included the powerful “Belly Of The Beast,” the Joe Jackson cover “Got The Time” and the anti-racism rant “Keep It In The Family” as well as “Time,” “In My World,” “Intro To Reality” and “Discharge.” The album also earned Anthrax a Grammy nomination and led to the summer 1991 gold rarities collection Attack Of The Killer B’s. That disc’s headliner was its “Bring Tha Noize” collaboration with Public Enemy’s Chuck D that ushered in rap metal.
The DVD Anthrology: No Hit Wonders (1985-1991) The Videos spotlights live performances of “Armed And Dangerous,” “Among The Living,” “Caught In A Mosh” and “Metal Thrashing Mad.” Also seen are videos for “Madhouse,” “Indians,” “I Am The Law,” “Belly Of The Beast,” “Got The Time,” “In My World,” “I’m The Man” (U.S. version), “Who Cares Wins” and “Bring Tha Noize With Public Enemy.”
In addition, just prior to the release of these four landmark collections, Anthrax will launch a new fan club Web site (to supplement its longstanding anthrax.com headquarters). The Anthrax CDC, home of the official Anthrax worldwide fan club, will be the online source for Anthrax exclusive content, contests, merchandise, etc. AnthraxCDC.com will be the place to mosh in cyberspace.

RALEIGH, N.C. - He may not have been a rock star himself, but Robert A. Moog's influence can be heard in the music of bands from The Beatles to Yes, Herbie Hancock to Chick Corea.
Moog, whose self-named synthesizers turned electric currents into sound and helped revolutionize rock, died Sunday of a brain tumor at his home in Asheville, according to his company's Web site. He was 71.
"He brought electronic music to the masses and changed the way we hear music," said Charles Carlini, a New York City concert promoter. "He's like an Einstein of music.
"Moog's synthesizer allowed musicians to generate a range of sounds that could mimic nature or seem otherworldly by flipping a switch, twisting a dial or sliding a knob. His instrument stood out from others on the market because it was small, light and versatile.
"I'm an engineer. I see myself as a toolmaker and the musicians are my customers," Moog said in 2000. "They use my tools."
The Beatles used a Moog synthesizer on their 1969 album "Abbey Road"; a Moog was used to create an eerie sound on the soundtrack to the 1971 film "A Clockwork Orange."
A childhood interest in the theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments, would lead Moog — whose name rhymes with vogue — to create a business that tied his name as tightly to synthesizers as the name Les Paul is to electric guitars.
As a Ph.D. student in engineering physics at Cornell University, Moog developed his first voltage-controlled synthesizer modules with composer Herb Deutsch. By the end of the year, R.A. Moog Co. marketed the first commercial modular synthesizer.
"Suddenly, there was a whole group of people in the world looking for a new sound in music, and it picked up very quickly," said Deutsch, a Hofstra University emeritus music professor. "The Moog came at the right time."
As extended keyboard solos in rock and funk — and later hip-hop and techno — took off, Moog's instrument was used in songs by Manfred Mann, Yes and Pink Floyd.
"The sound defined progressive music as we know it," said Keith Emerson, keyboardist for the rock band Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
Keyboardist Walter (later Wendy) Carlos demonstrated the range of Moog's synthesizer by recording the hit album "Switched-On Bach" in 1968 using only the new instrument instead of an orchestra.
"Every time you listen to the radio, you listen to Robert Moog's influence," said Carlini, who staged Moogfest in May 2004 to mark a half-century since Moog founded his first company.
But the synthesizer's ability to mimic strings, horns and percussion has also threatened some musicians. In 2004, musicians extracted a promise from the Opera Company of Brooklyn to never use an advanced kind of synthesizer, called a virtual orchestra machine, in future productions.
Moog spent the early 1990s as a research professor of music at the University of North Carolina at Asheville before turning full-time to running his new instrument business, which was renamed Moog Music in 2002. The roster of customers includes Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Beck, Phish, Sonic Youth and Widespread Panic.
Moog is survived by his wife, Ileana; three daughters, a son, a stepdaughter, and his former wife, Shirleigh Moog.
A public memorial is scheduled for Wednesday in Asheville.

When Courtney Love said she'd been clean and sober for 365 days, apparently she didn't mean consecutively.
The rocker-actress was back in drug rehab after breaking down in a Los Angeles courtroom Friday morning and admitting to a relapse that violated her probation and flew in the face of recent public denials.
Per Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin's mandate, Love checked into a facility within hours of the court appearance. She's to undergo 28 days of treatment. For Love, the crackdown could have been harsher: Rubin talked aloud about sending Kurt Cobain's widow straight to jail, musing, "I think you need to hit rock bottom before you make a decision [about] what you're going to do in the future."
For the immediate future, Love is due back in court Sept. 16 for sentencing on a trio of probation violations. "I think you either need a long-term drug program, or a long term in county jail," Rubin warned.
Following the hearing, defense attorney Howard Weitzman told reporters that his star client was "serious," "sincere" and "pretty tenacious about getting her life in order."
Love's life seemed out of order back in July when she was rushed from a Hollywood hotel to a nearby hospital via an ambulance. At the time, the star's camp chalked up the scare to a general not-feeling-well malaise--nausea, dizziness, etc. But last week, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office said it suspected an unidentified "controlled substance" was at fault.
Given her legal status, Love can't afford such suspicions. The police-blotter frequenter is on probation for a misdemeanor assault conviction and two misdemeanor drug convictions. And while Love last month was found to be in compliance with the terms of one of the drug cases, Friday's admission of a slipup puts her in violation of all three.
Only eight months ago, Love, 41, was vowing to "move forward with [her] life in a healthy and positive way." Only a month ago, she was saying that her newly filled-out form was a sign that she was off drugs. Only 12 days ago, she was at the Comedy Central roast for Pamela Anderson, bellowing "I've been sober for a year!"
On Friday, there were no bold declarations, just a tear-choked voice when the judge asked if Love understood that she had violated her probation three times over by copping to drug use.
Replied Love: "Yes, your honor."

Scottsdale- Neighbors of a south Scottsdale strip club are greeting news of its takeover by a world-renowned porn magnate with naked contempt.
"We are totally against it," said Mary Sampietro, who lives in the neighborhood surrounding Babe's Cabaret, 2011 N. Scottsdale Road.
The club confirmed Friday that it has been purchased by a partnership that includes Jenna Jameson, a Paradise Valley adult-film star and entrepreneur who runs a burgeoning porn empire from an office in Scottsdale.advertisement
That triggered a flurry of phone calls and e-mails during the weekend between the area's well-organized neighborhood activists, who immediately began discussing protests.
Sampietro said the club's purchase was a hot topic of discussion Sunday at nearby Scottsdale Baptist Church, where parishioners were "outraged" by plans to remodel the club and broadcast live performances on the Internet.
"The church reaction was, they were just stunned," Sampietro said.
One activist, Mike Merrill, said Jameson should prepare for "a fight the likes (of which) she will probably never see again."
Councilman Bob Littlefield asked Scottsdale's staff to research legal options for fighting changes to Babe's.
"On the bright side, if this change in ownership or plans for 'renovation' require any city approvals, this gives us an opportunity to legally shut this place down and get rid of it altogether," Littlefield wrote in an e-mail to neighbors. "I will certainly vote to do so."
Babe's declined to comment on changes to the club, saying it would wait until renovations are finished in late September or early October.
The club has yet to apply for any building permits.
Meanwhile, neighbor Lisa Haskell said neighbors have adopted a simple strategy for dealing with the club.
"Maybe when she finds out what a bunch of rabid nutcases she has living in the area, she'll just go away," Haskell said.

First, they were black and blue. Now, they’re back in Black.
To cap off a tremendous 2005 that has also seen the group tour alongside Motorhead, Corrosion of Conformity, Zeke, Life of Agony and Scum of the Earth, the Syracuse-based hard rock quintet BRAND NEW SIN have just secured the direct support slot on the upcoming Black Label Society tour, which kicks off in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Oct. 14. This five-week, major market trek will coincide with the release of their new video for upcoming single “Days Are Numbered,” shot by acclaimed director Dale Resteghini (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed).
BRAND NEW SIN - who recently headlined the Syracruise bike rally (“Central New York’s largest annual motorcycle event”) in their hometown - are no strangers to Black Label Society, who are currently playing to thousands of fans each night on the main stage of Ozzfest. The group played nine shows with Zakk Wylde’s band of SDMF’s three years ago in support of their self-titled debut, including an infamous Detroit gig at which Black Label Society filmed its first live DVD - a show at which the crowd depleted the venue’s entire beer supply.
“We’re happy to be going back out with Black Label,” says BRAND NEW SIN front man Joe Altier. “The last time around, we were out for only two weeks. Our bands fit perfectly together, and this is a great chance for us to take it around the entire country.”
BRAND NEW SIN is currently headlining the Revolver magazine-sponsored Summer of Rock tour alongside Dog Faced Gods and Supagroup in support of Recipe For Disaster, their critically acclaimed new album. The tour will be followed by a short trek with Life of Agony, who are currently headlining the Gigantour second stage. Meanwhile, their video for lead Recipe single “Black And Blue,” also shot by Resteghini, is currently in heavy rotation on Metal Asylum and Headbangers Ball; it has also been posted online at the location below.

“Bludgeoning riffs and squealing leads are the stuff of which BRAND NEW SIN is made.”
-- Metal Edge
“Recipe For Disaster is everything a pure hard rock album should be.”

A government agency has put a one-month delay into the process of approval for a new ".xxx" top-level domain, citing overwhelming public opposition to a porn-only section of the Internet.
The Commerce Department received nearly 6,000 letters and e-mails about the domain, noted Michael Gallagher, assistant secretary for communications and information.
In a letter to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) -- the neutral body that oversees top-level domains -- Gallagher urged the organization to evaluate the consumer concerns and called on the group to make sure the best interests of the Internet community as a whole are being considered.
Approval of the domain name was expected on Tuesday, but the ICANN board has decided to reschedule a hearing on the matter for September 15.
Big Business
Use of ".xxx" would be voluntary for those who create adult content, but the creation of this kind of "red light' district is expected to draw many adult-site owners.
The domain was proposed as a way for the online porn industry to follow a list of best practices, including strict measures against spamming. Currently, the Internet porn industry takes in US$12 billion per year.
ICANN had endorsed the concept of an .xxx domain in June. Approval of ICM Registry's contract to run the suffix was supposed to be part of a routine vote. ICM Registry Chairman Stuart Lawley expressed disappointment over the delay, noting that concerns should have been voiced in the past few months rather than days before the vote.
Red Light
Although some consumers seem to be up in arms, a major watchdog group focusing on children and Internet use, WiredSafety.org, supports the domain name.
"With this domain, protections will be built in that aren't in place now," said executive director Parry Aftab. "They will be very careful to make sure there's no marketing to children through a number of controls, and that's welcome. We need those measures."
A nonprofit board that will oversee the domain is being put together, Aftab said, and there are indications that a child safety advocate will be asked to join. In many ways, the creation of a virtual red light district will act like its real-life component, he added. It will separate adult-themed material into its own section that can be policed accordingly.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jason Flom, chairman and chief executive of Warner Music Group Corp.'s Atlantic Records, has resigned his post, the company said on Wednesday.
Warner Music Group appointed Atlantic co-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Craig Kallman as chairman and CEO, effective immediately.
Flom had run Atlantic since shortly after a group of private investors led by Edgar Bronfman Jr. bought the global music company from Time Warner Inc. His departure followed a series of clashes with Warner Music U.S. chief Lyor Cohen, according to the New York Times.
Warner Music officials were not immediately available for comment. Earlier this month, the company posted a narrower-than-expected loss, helped by hit albums from Green Day and Michael Buble and improved sales of online music.
The company said that Lava Records, a joint venture between Flom and Atlantic, would become a wholly owned unit of Atlantic Records Group.

LEWISTON, Maine - James Dougherty, the retired Los Angeles detective who was the first man to marry Norma Jeane Baker — before she went off to Hollywood and took the name Marilyn Monroe — has died. He was 84.
Dougherty died Monday in San Rafael, Calif., of complications of leukemia, his stepdaughter, Annie Woods of Sabattus, told the Sun-Journal of Lewiston. He had spent much of his later years in Maine.
Dougherty married Baker in 1942, before he went to sea as a merchant mariner. She was 16 at the time.
Baker set out to pursue a Hollywood career while Dougherty was gone, and the two were divorced in 1946. Dougherty remarried twice.
Dougherty worked for the Los Angeles police department for 25 years, serving as a detective and training the department's first Special Weapons and Tactics group. After his retirement in 1974, he moved to Arizona and later to Maine, living in the small town of Sabattus.
Dougherty refused for years to talk about his time with Monroe, but after his second divorce he was more comfortable with the subject. In 1997, Dougherty wrote a book titled "To Norma Jeane with Love, Jimmie."
He said he followed Marilyn's career until her death in 1962. She was a movie star, while the woman he married was a small-town girl, he said.
"I love her, but I'm not in love with her," he told the Sun-Journal in a 1997 interview. "There's a lot of difference between loving someone and being in love."
In 1995, he showed up at the Skowhegan post office for a party celebrating a new stamp bearing Monroe's picture. He autographed books of stamps as his current wife looked on from a nearby seat.
"It seemed like a nice, positive program, so I said I'd come out," he said. He recalled that 16-year-old bride's "plans then were to be a homemaker."
While living in Maine, he served a stint as an Androscoggin County commissioner and taught at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
"His years with Marilyn Monroe, that was just a small part of his life," said Schani Krug, who wrote, produced and directed a documentary titled "Marilyn's Man" about Dougherty last year. "He was everything she never had."
His third wife, Rita, died in 2003. Dougherty's family plans to fly his body back to Maine for burial, Woods said.

What's the saying? If it's not broken- don't fix it? I believe it, and couldn't agree more, which is why I think it's fantastic that Director Lucky McKee is once again re-teaming with actress Angela Bettis for his one-hour Masters of Horror piece entitled Sick Girl.
While director Lucky McKee’s THE WOODS is (presumably) readied for its September 16 release from Screen Gems, the creator of MAY gave FANGORIA the scoop on his MASTERS OF HORROR entry, SICK GIRL. Scripted by Sean (HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION) Hood, SICK GIRL will star TOOLBOX MURDERS’ Angela Bettis and SHADOW: DEAD RIOT’s Erin Brown. Fans may recognize Brown from her other professional persona, Misty Mundae, the tireless actress from a string of naughty E.I. Cinema flicks and who also appears in the McKee production THE LOST. Shooting on SICK GIRL will take place in Vancouver September 14-27.
“It’s gonna be awesome,” McKee says of SICK GIRL, episode 10 of MASTERS OF HORROR. “The script is getting better than ever as we sit here working on it. The producers sent me three scripts, and I liked this one the best. Though the Clive Barker one [HAECKEL’S TALE, once slated for Roger Corman] was pretty cool too.”
The plot of SICK GIRL? It’s a doozy. “It’s a romantic-comedy version of THE FLY,” McKee says. “It’s a lesbian love story about two girls [Bettis and Brown] and the bug that gets between them. KNB showed me their creature designs, and they look great. People are going to be surprised by SICK GIRL.”

RAMMSTEIN will be touring Mexico and South America in October. Confirmed dates are as follows:

Oct. 07 - Guadalajara, MEX @ La Concha Acustica
Oct. 09 - Monterrey, MEX @ Auditorio Coca Cola
Oct. 13 - Santiago, CHL @ Velodromo
Oct. 15 - Sao Paulo, BRA @ Credicard Hall
Oct. 17 - Buenos Aires, ARG @ Obras
Oct. 20 - Caracas, VEN @ Poliedero de Caracas
Oct. 22 - Bogotá, COL @ Estadio El Campin
RAMMSTEIN are currently working on the follow-up to last year's "Reise Reise", tentatively titled "Reise, Reise (Vol.2)". The band recorded several songs during the sessions for "Reise, Reise" which were omitted from the CD's final track listing. During a recent session at a Berlin studio, RAMMSTEIN recorded several more tracks and are currently mixing the combined collection of new material for a full-length album, to be released this fall.
Recorded primarily in Spain (El Cortijo Studio, Malaga), "Reise Reise" (translated as "Voyage, Voyage" or "Journey, Journey") is the follow-up to "Mutter", which entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 77 back in April 2001.
"Reise Reise" sold 27,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release in mid-November 2004 to debut at position No. 61 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Rope of Silicon reports that Warner Bros. Pictures are set to release this year's critically-acclaimed and highly successful hit "Batman Begins" for release on retail DVD this coming October 18th. The film has just passed the $200 million mark at the US box-office ($360m worldwide) and is currently the third highest grossing flick of the year as well as having displayed the "most longevity of all the summer tent poles" according to Box-Office Mojo.
The film will be available in three different disc formats. For the cheap ass there's two single-disc editions in widescreen and full screen.
For the proper DVD collector's there's a two-disc deluxe set containing no less than eight documentaries covering the production, the batsuit, the batmobile, the monorail chase, shooting in Iceland, fighting and a look at incarnations of the Batman over the past 20 years.
There's also featurettes on the characters and weapons, an interactive comic book, a stills gallery, trailer and a special collectible 72-page comic.
Each edition will present the film in anamorphic widescreen (2.40:1) with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Oddly enough the price difference is minimal (RRP $29 vs. $31) although both versions are already available for pre-order on Amazon for just $16.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OUCH!: Today is Madonna's 47th birthday but the celebration wasn’t exactly a happy one, as the pop diva suffered several broken bones in a horse riding accident at her country home outside London. She was hospitalized with three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand, according to Liz Rosenberg, her New York-based spokesperson. Madonna and an assistant were riding horses, when the superstar—on a new horse she wasn't accustomed to riding—took a tumble. Husband, film director Guy Ritchie, took Madonna to an undisclosed hospital, where she was treated. Rosenberg said the entertainer was expected to be released later in the evening. No word on whether the accident will hurt future touring plans or promotion for her upcoming album.

The Australian newspaper The Age reported that Hugh Jackman has rejected the role of James Bond after months of negotiations with the producers. He would have been the first Aussie to play the role, 36 years after countryman George Lazenby starred in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He would have replaced Pierce Brosnan.
But Jackman found himself unswayed by the job's selective cult status, the newspaper reported. He was first offered the role some months ago, but has turned it down after talking with his wife, actress Deborrah-Lee Furness.
The report said Jackman, 37, rejected the deal because he had a sufficiently high global profile and did not feel the need to throw himself into the strange world of Bond.

IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Batman Begins: The IMAX Experience is now IMAX's highest grossing digitally re-mastered 2D release, reaching the milestone in less than nine weeks. With total grosses of $14.5 million on 72 worldwide IMAX screens, it eclipses the record set by The Matrix Reloaded: The IMAX Experience, which grossed just over $14 million in twenty-two weeks. For the three day period from Friday, August 12 to Sunday, August 14 -its eighth weekend of release - Batman Begins: The IMAX Experience grossed an estimated $203,000 in 51 North American IMAX® theatres, an increase of eight per cent over the prior weekend. The film has now achieved a cumulative domestic per screen average of nearly $215,000 and continues to show extraordinary staying power
"The fact that Batman Begins set this box office record so quickly and continues to post great results underscores how perfectly suited the picture is for The IMAX Experience®," said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. "This film's strong performance is a key reason why IMAX's grosses are up considerably this summer and we're delighted so many moviegoers are exploring the origins of the Batman legend in IMAX theatres. IMAX continues to further solidify its position as the place to see the biggest Hollywood event films in both our unparalleled 2D and IMAX® 3D formats."

After a brilliantly dark success at the Coachella Festival, Bauhaus has made the decision to officially re-form after more than 20 years apart .
Although they did do a reunion tour back in 1998, they are now planning on accompanying their newest tour dates with an album. In July, lead vocalist Peter Murphy told BBC 6 that he had been "working on reforming the band for the last year. It's come to the point now that we are going to tour here in the winter and do a world tour and an album." This would be their first album since 1983's Burning From The Inside.
The tour will start in Mexico City on October 16, followed by show in Guadalajara, Mexico the next day. From there, they travel to our neighbor to the North on October 20, playing in Vancouver, then traveling South through Seattle and Portland. The month of October closes with two nights in San Francisco, October 25 & 26, and a three-show run in Los Angeles, October 28 - 30.
November will see the band heading East with shows scheduled for Denver, Minneapolis and Chicago.
November 11 - 12 will be spent in New York's brand new Nokia Theatre Times Square. The band then heads North through Boston, Montreal and Toronto in the following days.
Bauhaus returns to the U.S. on November 19 with a show in Royal Oak, Mich., then moves South through Atlanta, and wraps up on November 25 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Bauhaus dates back to1978. Their Ziggy-Stardust-meets- Nosferatu look initially got them dismissed as a glam-rock knock-off by the British media. But, after releasing their first single - "Bela Lugosi's Dead" - in 1979, the group developed a major cult following that flourishes even today.
The band became a driving force of what was shortly
thereafter dubbed goth-rock. As their musical sophistication and popularity grew, internal disputes began to fracture the band and they announced their break-up in 1983.
Murphy, moved on to a successful solo career while the remaining members, Daniel Ash (guitar), David J (bass), and Kevin Haskins (drums) formed the band, Love and Rockets.
This new tour comes on the heels of Murphy's latest album Unshattered, which was supported by a world tour this past spring.

According to MTV.com, punk rock icon Henry Rollins has finalized plans for his "25 Years of Bullshit" tour, sponsored by IFC, which airs "Henry's Film Corner". Prior to the tour, Rollins heads to Egypt on August 25 to entertain the troops once again, marking his sixth USO excursion in less than two years. "Since the last tour, I have done a lot of extensive travel to Iraq, Kuwait, Siberia, South Korea, and other places and picked up some hopefully interesting stories," Rollins said. "We are living in interesting times and as bad as things are, I draw considerable inspiration from some of the things I'm seeing and people I'm meeting. I'm looking forward to getting out on the road and talking about it all."

It was finally coming this Halloween and now it may be delayed- but at least in the end it'll be worth the wait. Grindhouse Releasing finally has a date for its uncut Cannibal Holocaust DVD—October 25—but censorship problems may delay the release of the 1979 Ruggero Deodato gore spectacular, according to Fangoria. Grindhouse’s Sage Stallone and Bob Murawski have run into a potential distribution roadblock due to their “graphic and offensive” packaging of the notorious Italian flick. For the full story and details on the DVD itself, click the link below. In 1979, a film crew disappeared in the jungles of South America while shooting a documentary on tribal cannibalism. One year later, their footage was found and brought back to America. This is that footage.
In all the hype over Blair Witch; and its mockumentary style of filmmaking, very few people know that the indie phenomenon isn't as original as it so blazingly declares. In 1979, Italian director Ruggero Deodato made a disturbing piece of unadulterated horror in Cannibal Holocaust;, my pick for the most gut-wrenching, stomach-churning, molar-moving, terrifying, and realistic horror flick of all time. It?s not a good film so to say, but the story, atmosphere, and make-up effects make up for a truly horrifying experience.
Like Blair Witch, Cannibal Holocaust features three wannabe filmmakers (two guys and a girl) who venture out into the wilds of the Green Inferno of the Amazon to make a documentary on local tribe life. Unlike Blair Witch, the trio here are an unlikable group of loathing cretins doing the project for their own personal gain: Fame and fortune. While the three from Witch probably had similar wants, at least they had personality. When the natives prove too placid for the filmmakers? likings, the three (Francesca Ciardi, Perry Pirkanen, Lura Burbareschi) probe the locals into violence by raping, killing, and setting fire to the forest villages. They want death and destruction; the Amazonians just want peace and harmony among themselves.
What this breaks down to is sometimes the privileged are more savage than the not-so fortunate. The tables are turned on the three Americans (played by Italian actors) when the inhabitants can?t take any more torture and dismay from the strange new people. Eventually the trio loses their struggle with the natives, resulting in graphic slaughter and carnage rarely seen so exorbitantly on screen. A new team of researchers are sent out to look for the missing Americans, only to discover, in one of the film?s oddly robust scenes, three freshly devoured skulls stacked on a totem pole, the camera and sound equipment hanging nearby.
Gore is not what makes Cannibal Holocaust such a devastating watching experience. It is the sense of dread and petrifying realization that these characters are not going to make it out of the woods alive, or in one piece (no put intended). What Blair Witch didn?t show, Cannibal Holocaust as the adverbs say, goes all the way. This is some strong stuff, folks, even for the hardcore gore hound. Not one to wince at blood or violence on screen, Cannibal had me looking away several times, especially during the totally unnecessary killings of real live animals. But it is the power and emotion of the film that packs the true punch. The immorality of the three filmmakers: did they get what they deserved?
Cannibal Holocaust is finally getting the recognition it deserves with a limited theatrical run this fall thanks to Grindhouse Releasing, the same studio that reissued Lucio Fulci?s 1981 masterpiece The Beyond in the summer of 1998. For anyone who likes they’re horror strong and disturbingly real, Cannibal Holocaust is a must-see in its newly remastered, uncut print.
