MORTIIS RETURNS TO AMERICA FOR THE 2005 BLACKEST OF THE BLACK TOUR

MORTII.jpg

NEW YORK – Norwegian industrial rock band, Mortiis, has been selected to
perform on the 2005 Blackest of the Black Tour.

The Blackest of the Black line-up features Danzig (joined by former Misfit
Doyle Von Frankenstein for a special 30-minute set of Misfits classics),
Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, and The Agony Scene.

“I think it’s a very interesting package and should draw a rather diverse
crowd,” said Mortiis’ frontman and namesake. “I’m a big fan of pretty
much everything Danzig ever put out, and always loved his classic horror
approach to image and art. I can totally relate to that, given our own image
isn’t that far removed from what he did early on in The Misfits.”

Mortiis’ one and only tour of America was in 1999 with Christian Death.
“If anyone saw us then and comes to see us now, they’re in for a bit of a
shock,” said Mortiis. “A lot has changed and everything that we used to be
has been killed off to make way for a new monster.”

Each of Mortiis’ releases show a marked growth from its predecessor, with
last year’s “The Grudge” delving into an angrier, more guitar-driven
sound. Mortiis is also now officially a collective effort from a full band.

Mortiis’ first DVD, entitled "Soul in a Hole," will be released November 1.
The DVD was filmed last year in London during the two-month “The Unlimited
Grudge Tour” tour with Susperia. The DVD will contain four bonus videos,
photo galleries, interviews, and other extras, in addition to live footage.

Billy Goat Tavern to Open in D.C.

B GOAT.jpg

Associated Press

CHICAGO - The Billy Goat Tavern, a local institution made famous by the "Cheezborger, Cheezborger" sketch on "Saturday Night Live," is setting up shop in the nation's capital.

It's the first foray outside Chicago for the restaurant, also known for a curse that some say has kept the Cubs out of the World Series for 60 years and counting
.

Bill Sianis, the son of the current owner, Sam Sianis, and grandnephew of the tavern's founder, William "Billy Goat" Sianis, said he and his dad have long wondered if the tavern could make it outside its hometown.

Given the Goat's popularity among tourists who never tire of asking for fries in the hopes of hearing "No fries, cheeps!", Sam and Bill Sianis thought Washington, with its steady stream of out-of-towners, would make it a perfect spot to give it a try.

"They say nobody in Washington D.C. is from Washington D.C.," Bill Sianis said. A lot of people from Illinois who work on Capitol Hill have been asking when the Billy Goat was coming to town, he added.

"They all want something that feels like home," he said.

The Sianises said they hope to open to the public in the next week or so. Whether the new Goat reminds anyone of Chicago remains to be seen.

For starters, unlike the dark cavernous dive underneath Michigan Avenue — the most famous of the seven Billy Goats around Chicago — this Billy Goat has windows. And the bar isn't chipped Formica like its namesake, but polished cement.

It may even sell, of all things, fries. Sam Sianis said the decision on that hasn't been made, but pointed out that of all the Billy Goats in Chicago, only the most famous one is a "cheeps" (chips) only establishment.

That may disappoint some patrons who have memorized the "Saturday Night Live" sketch in which John Belushi, his thick Greek accent sounding a lot like Sam, would scold, "No fries, cheeps!" while serving up "cheezborgers" and only "cheezborgers."

Chicago Tribune columnist Clarence Page said that while he's happy to see the Billy Goat come to Washington, where he now works after years in Chicago, he doesn't think it will be anything other than a replica of the one under Michigan Avenue.

"I really feel the same way as I did about what I call the Goat branches back in Chicago," he said of the six other Billy Goats in the city. "They're nice and cute, but it's like comparing a rock concert to the Hard Rock Cafe. One is the real thing and the other is a theme park."

So, will it work? Sean Parnell, who created a Web site called the Chicago Bar Project, thinks so.

"One of the attractive things about the Billy Goat ... is the atmosphere is very conversational, there's a long history of getting into political discussions, labor discussions, what's going on in the city, the Cubs," he said. "Washington is a good town for talking about politics, sports, current events."

Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois plans on doing his part by taking colleagues there. "They need a little exposure to some Chicago culture and cuisine," he said.

Lynn Sweet, who spent years as a newspaper reporter in Chicago before moving to Washington, where she's the bureau chief for the Chicago Sun-Times and a columnist, said the Billy Goat might fill a void.

"What this city needs is a place where you don't have to have an expense account to eat lunch, and that's where I think the Goat might stake a claim here," said Sweet, who devoted much of a recent column to the new tavern.

Sam Sianis said there won't be any "No Republicans Allowed" signs like the one "Billy Goat" Sianis put up in 1944 when the Republican National Convention was held in town.

"We might put a sign to allow both sides," Sam said, noting that when his uncle put up the sign, the next thing he knew the place was wall to wall with Republicans.

Sam Sianis also said he isn't about to put a curse on anyone or anything in Washington, as his uncle did on the Cubs when owner P.K. Wrigley would not let his goat, who had a ticket, into the 1945 World Series — coincidentally, the last year the Cubs ever made it to the World Series.

Still, there is always that possibility. At the bottom of an invitation to a recent grand opening ceremony, were the words: "Warning: Come or be cursed."

Merging two of the industries most esteemed production companies and casting their most demanded contract stars together is a unique opportunity for fans around the world. Carmen Luvana raves about the experience, “Jesse’s insatiable sexuality was a fantasy I can dream about over and over again.” Digital Playground contract super star, Jesse Jane says, “I have had sex with girls on camera and off camera for most of my adult life. No one has ever compared to Janine or Carmen Luvana. Filming “PIRATES” was the most outrageous and intense experience I’ve ever had.” Janine agrees, “What a pleasure to experience Jesse Jane’s authentic sexual energy, which I’m still reeling from. She is the future of porn. The scale of this production is nothing I’ve ever experienced even in mainstream film. The production values were amazingly top notch. This is a keeper.”

Filmed entirely on location bi-coastally throughout California and Florida, "PIRATES" is filled with action from deadly swordplay against skeleton warriors to firing cannons and offshore fight scenes. Tommy Gunn says, “The director Joone was incredible, assisting me with getting into character and developing that role. The locations and costuming was gorgeous and the boat was just mind-blowing. I will never forget working with Digital Playground and Joone’s vision.” Evan Stone gives high props stating, “...never before in the history of porn has a movie been made of such grandeur and epic proportions as Joone’s “PIRATES... this is one of the most inspiring movies I have ever done to date.”

“PIRATES” was shipped to stores on September 19th, with a September 26th street date. The triple disc set offers both standard and WMV-HD DVD formats. Additional features include 16x9 Widescreen Format, Bloopers, Casting Video, Photo Gallery, Audio Commentary with the Stars, Behind the Scenes, Visual FX Making of, HD Behind the Scenes, Pirates Short, Bios, Trailers, Chapter Index and No Regional Coding.

On September 12th, both companies held the world premiere of “PIRATES” at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California. The mainstream premiere boasted many “firsts” for adult entertainment; it was held at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood with full red carpet services, a complimentary bar, a real pirate band, fire breathers and gift bags. About the event, AVN Editor in Chief, Mike Ramone writes, “Digital Playground pulled out all the stops at the “Pirates” premiere, which had the feel of a XXX- rated 18th Century theme park. DP has definitely upped the bar for adult premieres and at the same time laid down the gauntlet to other companies to follow suit.”

Jenna Makes Directorial Debut

JENNA O5.jpg

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – (September 27, 2005) – Jenna Jameson will make her directorial debut when she directs “The Provocateur.” The production will take place the first four days of October in Los Angeles and her set will be open to the press on Sunday October 4th.

The multi-talented megastar says that she has wanted to direct for some time and that she was inspired to do so now ”because we’ve signed five incredibly beautiful and talented contract actresses – Jesse Capelli, McKenzie Lee, Ashton Moore, Sophia Rossi and Krystal Steal.” Her own company, ClubJenna Inc., will produce the movie and all five of the ClubJenna Girls will star in it. Ms. Jameson will be behind the camera and will be in the film, but not in a sex role.

“I want this movie to go beyond sexy,” says Ms. Jameson. “It will be an important showcase for the company and so we are all putting a lot of creative energy into it. I’ll be shooting on film because the movie is highly stylized and I want to showcase the extreme beauty of the girls. The scenes we have scheduled are incredibly erotic and will bring out the best sexual performances possible from all of our girls. They have personally selected the male actors they want to work with (McKenzie wanted six men for her scene) and they’re really looking forward to their individual turns in the spotlight. I know what people want to see and so I’ll concentrate on developing that part of my talent. I have a real vision for the film and I’m eager to get to work on it,” she added.

Ms. Jameson says that she greatly admires the work of mainstream directors Cameron Crowe and Michael Mann. “Of course, I also love the work of Justin Sterling, and not just because he’s my husband – he’s a fabulous director and I’ve learned an enormous amount from him over the years.”

Nicolas Cage on Ghost Rider

ghost_rider_movie.jpg

IESB.net talked to Nicolas Cage about the Ghost Rider movie and here's a clip:

Well, he's a man who's just trying to take a negative and turn it into a positive like we all do, we have been talking about that here today together with The Weather Man, trying to take movies and do something positive with any negative feelings that I have. Johnny Blaze is a superhero who had a very horrible thing happen to him and he's taking that negative and he's trying to make something positive out of it no matter what and that's, in that way I guess you can say I am like Ghost Rider.

Tripp Eisen Released From Prison

trippsolo2.jpg

MTV.com is reporting that former STATIC-X and DOPE guitarist Tripp Eisen was released from a California state prison last week, a little more than six months after his arrest on a single crimes-against-children count.

Eisen's freedom could end up being short-lived, depending on what next week brings. He's due to stand before a judge in New Jersey on October 7 for arraignment on charges of sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, luring and endangering the welfare of a child.

Eisen, whose real name is Tod Rex Salvador, was arrested in Orange County, California in late February for allegedly meeting and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl a few weeks earlier in New Jersey. The 39-year-old musician allegedly met the Sayreville, New Jersey girl on the Internet, drove from Pennsylvania on January 7 to meet her, and assaulted her in a shopping center in Old Bridge, New Jersey. The girl's mother found out about the incident and alerted police.

On February 10, Eisen was arrested on one felony count of crimes against children. Authorities from the Orange County (California) Sheriff's Department found the 39-year-old musician sleeping in a parked car with an underage female with whom he'd just had sexual intercourse, according to Bergen, New Jersey's The Record. Eisen was taken into custody and released on $100,000 bail several hours later.

Steve Meister, Eisen's defense counsel for his California criminal case, told MTV.com that the guitarist accepted the terms of a plea bargain on June 24. "He acknowledged his responsibility," Meister said, and pleaded guilty to two felony counts of engaging in unlawful sex with a minor. He was sentenced to a term of one year, but because he'd been in custody since late February, "[Eisen] had substantial custody credits" and wound up "serving just a couple of months."

Meister told MTV.com that because Eisen pleaded guilty to felonies that weren't "as serious," he was only required to serve half of his one-year sentence. Eisen "made a mistake, he owned up to it, and he paid his penance," the attorney said.

According to Meister, the plea deal followed soon after "a preliminary hearing that substantially weakened the [prosecution's] case, but ultimately, we were not going to have the defenses available to us that we wanted, and so it became clear that we had to try to resolve it by way of a plea instead of a trial.

"The [California accuser's] credibility was very shaky," explained Meister. "She told people she was anywhere from 14 to 19. She told a cop one age, a detective another, [Eisen] another. She met him at an 18-and-older club, so she either had a fake ID or lied to the bouncers. We weakened the prosecution's case, but really, [Eisen] had a reasonable, good-faith belief that she was an adult."

Alaska Landscape Transformed By Warmer Climate

ALASKExit.jpg

AZ Sees the effect of a warmer Arctic climate up close at a melting glacier

By Yereth Rosen (Reuters)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Sinking villages perched on thawing permafrost, an explosion of timber-chewing insect populations, record wildfires and shrinking sea ice are among the most obvious and jarring signs that Alaska is getting warmer as the global climate changes, scientists say.

"We are the canary in the mine, unfortunately, and the harbinger of what is yet to come for the rest of the world," said Patricia Cochran, executive director of the Anchorage-based Alaska Native Science Commission.

Atmospheric temperatures in the remote state have risen 3.6 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 3 degrees C) over the past five decades, according to the recently released Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, a comprehensive study by scientists from eight nations.

That heating, most pronounced in winter and spring, is much more dramatic than in the rest of the world, which has had an average increase in land surface temperatures of 1 degree F (0.6 C) over the last century, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Many scientists believe the earth is warming because of the release of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide that trap solar heat in the atmosphere.

A massive beetle infestation has swept through millions of acres (hectares) in south-central Alaska over the past decade, scientists said, because significantly warmer weather is delaying the usual winter die-off of insect populations.

The insects' voracious attack on spruce bark has left forests tinder-dry while general heat-induced stress have weakened forests, with lightning strikes making them a fire hazard in the Chugach Mountain foothills, said Glenn Juday, a professor of forest ecology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

"All the trees in the boreal forest are showing unusual symptoms of warmth-related health problems," Juday said, noting that Alaska had its biggest and third-biggest fire seasons in the past two summers.

"The warmer it gets the more we burn," Juday said.

SINKING TOWNS

In the cooler interior regions, buildings are slumping and roads are buckling as permafrost -- frozen soil -- thaws and turns into softer, spongy soil. The Inupiat village of Shishmaref on a narrow Chukchi Sea barrier island is preparing to move as the town sinks into the ground.

"For those of us who live in the changing conditions every day, there's no question. We see it. We feel it every single day," Cochran said.

Satellite records released on Wednesday showed that sea ice coverage in the arctic region has fallen for the last four years with "unusually early springtime melting in areas north of Siberia and Alaska," according to a study by the University of Colorado, NASA and the University of Washington.

Shrinking sea ice has created hardships for sea animals like polar bears that find their prey at the ice's edge.

Heated-up waterways are throwing off long-established salmon cycles and, according to one scientist, have allowed a warmth-loving, salmon-wrecking parasite to thrive in the Yukon River.

Warming is accentuated in high-latitude regions like Alaska in part because of thinner atmospheres in the polar region, concentrating greenhouse gases, and in part because of the nature of atmospheric currents, according to studies.

Such changes have also contributed to falling ice coverage in the Arctic Sea, with spring and summer melting happening 17 days earlier than usual, according to the satellite study.

The disappearance of ice and snow uncovers dark surfaces of the ground and sea, which absorb more solar heat and warm up the landscape, said Vladimir Romanovsky, a permafrost expert at the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Geophysical Institute.

Virgin Megastore Times Square Features 150 New IBM Anyplace Kiosks That Help Create an 'Emotionally Exciting' Shopping Experience

ibm_kiosk.jpg

Compact, Advanced Touchscreen Systems Provide On-Demand Information, Music, DVD and Game Previews

Special thanks to Joshua Steinfeld @ IBM

Customers at Virgin Entertainment Group's completely refurbished flagship Virgin Megastore in Manhattan's Times Square are using 150 of IBM's latest hands-on, customized kiosks to preview virtually any of the thousands of CDs, DVDs, and console games in the store and gain a world of music information on demand, IBM announced today.

The world's premiere music-and-entertainment retailer, which promises an "emotionally exciting" shopping experience, has installed a custom application on 150 new IBM Anyplace Kiosks in its sprawling, three-level Manhattan store that is America's largest music-entertainment store. The IBM Anyplace Kiosks, built with a sleek and compact design engineered to withstand even the harshest retail environments, give shoppers the ability to sample more than 250,000 CDs, 11,000 DVDs and 7,000 games.

Virgin refers to the 150 new kiosks as Virgin Vault Kiosks. Through the use of the scanning, browsing and recommendation kiosks, Virgin is placing an emphasis on helping its customers to try before they buy almost any product. The Times Square store will have more of the Virgin Vault Kiosks than any Virgin Megastore in the world.

For example, a Virgin Megastore shopper interested in Kanye West's latest CD, "Late Registration," can instantly preview the CD, watch the video trailer for the DVD "Million Dollar Baby," or view reviews and screen shots from "Madden NFL 2006."

"Virgin is committed to being a leader in using advanced technology in the retail space. Our customers are comfortable using technology and are demanding better service than ever before," says Robert Fort, Director of Information Technology, Virgin Entertainment Group, North America. "Shoppers want a personalized, interactive and instantly fun shopping experience and, by using IBM Anyplace Kiosk, they get an unprecedented level of customer service as well as an intensely satisfying experience in our stores."

The 150 new IBM Anyplace Kiosks replace a small number of stationary, older and slower kiosks in the Times Square store, as well as other listening stations that were limited in function. With this new implementation, Virgin Megastore, Times Square is now building the infrastructure and laying the groundwork for offering shoppers even more choices in the future. For example, a "guided selling" application is planned to give the future capability to make product recommendations based on shoppers' music preferences and past purchases.

"Virgin has shown its complete commitment to both its shoppers and the future of music-and-entertainment retailing by investing in the development of its unique retail concept," said Tom Hawk, general manager, IBM Retail Store Solutions. "Shoppers today want information at their fingertips in the store in an on demand way. With the IBM Anyplace Kiosk, Virgin Megastore, Times Square gets a retail-hardened, reliable and durable technology that will meet and exceed their shoppers' demands in terms of choice, convenience and speed."

In addition to the new kiosks, IBM Business Consulting Services has been working with Virgin Entertainment on an operations and business strategy and helping develop a business transformation plan.

Get Smart" Star Adams Dies

GETSMART.jpg

SOURCE: E! Online by Joal Ryan

Don Adams once confessed to hating Get Smart. He was about the only one.

The former standup comic who donned a trench coat, launched a catch phrase ("Would you believe...?") and won three Emmys as blundering, yet self-assured spy Maxwell Smart on the 1960s TV comedy died late Sunday of a lung infection. He was 82.

Adams' friend and former agent, Bruce Tufeld, confirmed the death Monday, adding that the actor had been in poor health since breaking his hip a year earlier.

Adams had also been suffering from lymphoma for several years.

His death silences his other signature creation: Inspector Gadget. Adams was the voice behind the blundering, yet fearless crime fighter from the cartoon character's inception in 1983.

It is Maxwell Smart, though, for whom Adams will be first remembered.

Adams starred as Smart--Agent 86 to his fellow CONTROL operatives--in the 1965-1970 sitcom. From 1967-69, he earned three straight best comedy series actor Emmys. He went on to play Smart in the 1980 theatrical bomb The Nude Bomb, the 1989 TV-movie, Get Smart Again and the short-lived 1995 revival series, also titled Get Smart, with Andy Dick as his offspring. Even as a TV pitchman, for Chief Auto Parts and others, Adams played a Smart-esque character.

In 1980, Adams told People he was too Smart for his own good.

"Producers felt I couldn't do anything else," he said in the magazine. "Every time I've gotten a script it's another Maxwell Smart-type character."

Even worse, Smart wasn't a character of which Adams was particularly fond. In People, he admitted he wanted to throw his TV set through a window after watching the first few episodes--"I couldn't stand the laugh track," he said.

But in a decade marked by the low-watt humor of The Beverly Hillbillies and I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart was the bright bulb, even if its title character was on the dim side.

From the minds of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, Get Smart pitted Smart's CONTROL in a never-ending battle of good versus the evil of KAOS.

The show was a Top 25 hit for NBC its first two seasons. The show moved to CBS in 1969, ending its run a year later in true jump-the-shark fashion, with Smart and lady-love Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon) welcoming the birth of twins.

Adams' post-Smart career was marked by numerous cruises on The Love Boat (he even boarded the original 1976 TV-movie), and several failed series, including Don Adams' Screen Test (1974), in which wannabe actors were given their shots at big-screen stardom.

It would take the debut of the syndicated animated series Inspector Gadget to free Adams somewhat from Agent 86's telephone shoes. Only older audiences knew Adams was riffing on Smart; younger audiences thought he was creating Gadget just for them.

The original Gadget series was produced from 1983-85. It spawned several videos and spinoffs that kept Adams busy through the 1990s. It also inspired a live-action franchise. Adams didn't appear in the movies, but he did lend a voice to the first film, 1999's Inspector Gadget, starring Matthew Broderick.

Born Donald James Yarmy on April 13, 1923, in New York City, the streamlined Don Adams broke into showbiz in the 1940s as a comic, following a stint in World War II as a Marine.

His career took off in 1954 when his jokes got the applause meter moving on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, the Star Search of its day.

His sitcom debut came in 1963 with a supporting role in The Bill Dana Show. Adams also made his mark that year as the voice of the titular penguin in the CBS Saturday morning cartoon series, Tennessee Tuxedo.

Adams married and divorced three times. His daughter, Cecily Adams, a casting director and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine recurring guest star, died March 3, 2004 at age 39 of lung cancer.

Kiss Slot Machine Unveiled

KISS-NEW-LOGO.jpg

SOURCE: Reviewjournal.com

Pamela Anderson has one. Ed McMahon does, too. So it was only a matter of time before rock icon Kiss got theirs.

Call it their Sin City comeuppance: a video slot machine featuring the band's hit song 'Rock And Roll All Nite' and the members' famous mugs in full makeup. The game was unveiled by Progressive Gaming International Corporation Tuesday at the Global Gaming Expo with founding members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons on hand.

The celebrity slot machine is nothing new. A slew of famous people have paired their names and likenesses with gaming machines at past expos, including Pamela Anderson, Clint Eastwood and others. It's a formula that apparently works well for gaming companies. And the celebrities.

"Well, we try to get ourselves involved in every aspect of the American culture," Paul Stanley said. "And this is just another way" to do that.

Punk/Goth/Metal Fest Finds A Home

New England Punk, Goth & Metal Festival (NEPGM).jpg

Nearly two weeks after a Lowell, Mass., city commission voted to keep the inaugural New England Punk, Goth & Metal Festival (NEPGM) out of the city's LeLacheur Park, organizers found two alternative venues for the two-day fest.

Organizers Anderson Mar and Matthew Marchesi announced that Bradford's Club 125 and Worcester's Palladium will host the October 1-2 event, respectively.

Lowell's License Commission unanimously denied the festival's application September 8, saying that Marchesi failed to clear numerous permit and insurance issues with the city, which owns the park, according to the Lowell Sun.

City Manager John Cox reportedly cited potential damage to the park, poor planning and concerns about the fest's content.

Despite that, Marchesi hasn't ruled out using the park - which is home of the Lowell Spinners minor-league baseball team - for a future NEPGM.

"After this goes off, I'm going to start working on it and we'll see how it goes," Marchesi told Pollstar. "I'm still willing to do it. ... I just want it to be done the right way from the start."

NEPGM had sold 1,100 tickets to the weekend event when the city nixed plans to use the park. The festival's budget was less than $20,000.

The 600-capacity Club 125 and 2,660-capacity Palladium will accommodate concert-goers of all ages.

"That was one item that was sine qua non with me," Mar told Pollstar. "Any venue we approached absolutely had to acquiesce to hosting an all-ages audience, or we would choose to not do business with them for this particular event."

She guessed that at least 60 to 70 percent of the NEPGM audience is underage.

Approximately 40 bands were set to perform including Bella Morte, Trashlight Vision, Dr. Chud's X-Ward, and Sardonica.

Dunst Confirms Spider-Man 3 Villains

s3.jpg

During an interview this weekend promoting Elizabethtown, Kirsten Dunst confirmed rumors to Zap2it that Thomas Haden Church will play Sandman and Topher Grace is Venom in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, opening in theaters on May 4, 2007.

"We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman," said Dunst, who plays Mary Jane Watson in the Spidey films.

"Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that," she added before reversing her claim. "It's the other way around. You're right," she conceded to a journalist.

Dunst has yet to receive a script for the third film that will begin shooting in January. "But I know the general story. There's a lot that they're trying to fit into this one."

Why Porn Is The New Glamour

Jenna Blue.jpg

SOURCE: Adultyi.com

Jenna in the Seventies might not have been as famous

WWW- Way, way back in the mists of time (oh, say, five or six years ago) polls regularly listed the most popular career options for young women as nursing, teaching or, for the particularly exhibitionist, acting. The world turns quickly, though, and this year a survey of a thousand girls between the ages of 15 and 19 found that 63 per cent aspired to be a glamour model, while 25 per cent plumped for lap dancing. Out were the dependability and possible boredom of care work; in were the seedy glamour and possible stardom of the sex industry.

While these findings at first seemed implausibly extreme, they were quickly backed up by the profiles of this year's Big Brother participants in Britain. It goes without saying that Big Brother contestants are exhibitionists. But where the UK show's first participants, in 2000, aspired to be actors or singers (mooning wistfully about the house with their guitars), this year, six of the eight female housemates expressed an interest in glamour modelling or pornography. (Kinga, one of the two exceptions, inadvertently became a porn star anyway by masturbating with a wine bottle in prime time.) In roughly five years, the possibility of a career in the sex industry, whether hard core or soft core, has been embraced by young women and come to be seen as not just a viable option, but a genuinely attractive one. For people who yearn to be recognised, but have no specific talent (in the same poll, 89 per cent of young women said they would rather be a celebrity than achieve something but lack recognition), the sex industry holds out the olive branch of fame.

The most obvious reason for this change of attitude would seem to be the proliferation of pornography. With hard-core porn easily accessible through the internet (33 per cent of internet users regularly view such material) and also being marketed to mobile phones, porn imagery has inevitably become an established part of our culture. And, with this proliferation, the image of those in the sex industry has changed, too. Although the term "porn star" has been in use for decades, it was not until recently that it actually gained some credence and gloss.

Had she been working in the 1970s, for instance, it is probable that a porn actress such as Jenna Jameson would have been known only to a smallish population of men, gaining notoriety - like Linda Lovelace - rather than true fame. With the help of home video, however, plus internet and mobile technology, Jameson has become one of the most (in)famous women in Middle America, her 2004 autobiography staying on the New York Times's bestseller list for a month and a half. Britain offers similar, though slightly tamer, success stories, most notably that of Abi Titmuss. Paradoxically, Titmuss, who began her career as a nurse, came to public attention on the back of rape charges brought against her celebrity boyfriend by another woman. There soon followed tabloid sex revelations. A home-made porn video was stolen from her boyfriend's house and released over the internet. And then Titmuss threw her hat in with the industry. She has since worked variously as a presenter on a porn channel, author of sex fantasies, and the subject of thousands of nude photographs.

The home for these photos has been the weekly magazines Nuts and Zoo, recent additions to the market, which sell half a million copies between them, primarily to teenage and twentysomething men. This underlines another crucial change. As porn imagery has broken into the mainstream, any boundaries to its use in entertainment, advertising and marketing - even when the products are aimed specifically at younger teenagers - have gradually become moot. So, for instance, we see full sex and masturbation on Big Brother, a programme that teachers recognise as "must-see" TV for teens. We have competitions in Zoo for the chance to "Win your girlfriend a £4,000 boob job!". We have a sun-protection safety campaign in which a boy apes the "cumshot", squirting cream in a girl's face and urging her to rub it in. These are just the obvious examples. Perhaps more worrying is the subtle way that porn brands have infiltrated the children's market.

Most prominent of these is Playboy, whose bunny logo became particularly fashionable on women's clothing in the late 1990s. Since then, the brand has expanded hugely, the logo appearing on everything from watches to chocolates, and now girls' stationery: pink glittery pencil cases, erasers, notepads. Sold through W H Smith, these branded items have become a bestselling range.

With kids being fed the message that porn is simply a lifestyle and consumer choice like any other, where are the countervailing voices? Back in the 1970s and 1980s, feminists, most notably Catharine MacKinnon and Andrea Dworkin, drew attention (and scorn) for their anti-porn campaigns, but since then the focus of the media has moved firmly to so-called "sex-positive" feminists such as Camille Paglia and Laura Kipnis, women who define pornography as potentially liberating and egalitarian.

Over the past few decades there has been a huge movement in favour of women's right to consume porn, and to oppose this in any way is to be deemed a prude. Indeed, I can see no problem with the rising popularity of sex products marketed at grown women. The problem comes about when our attention turns from the consumer to the consumed. In supporting the right for women to watch porn, it is easy to avoid the rights and reality of the women who appear in porn, and this has helped veil the truth of the industry. Hard-core pornography remains physically very dangerous, with sexual disease among participants running at 50 times the average rate, as well as a high risk of injuries as nasty as perforated bowel and choking.

Perhaps even more importantly, there are still huge social and emotional implications for women who work in the sex industry, whether in the harsh world of hard core or the relatively soft-focus glow of glamour modelling. The truth is that porn stars and glamour models remain as reviled as ever, protected while naked on a pedestal, but otherwise refused any respect or attention. Such difficulties can be seen obliquely in the regular pleas of glamour models, including Abi Titmuss and Jodie Marsh, to be taken seriously, to have a chance to show their "real" selves.

The problem is that, however much they trumpet their glowing exam results (Marsh), or their love of Orwell (Titmuss), their career choice will always undermine these efforts. It is probably possible to have a successful career in glamour or porn, but only if you are the exception of the age - like Jenna Jameson in the US or, in Britain, the tough, saleable glamour model Jordan, who a) protects herself by never asking to be taken seriously and b) is on course to retire at 30.

For other participants, the outlook is bleak, the prevalence and visibility of porn rendering the subsequent chances of a significant career for its "stars" pretty low. The truth is that in career terms, although now a first resort for many young women, porn and glamour modelling are still as pointless as ever. A career in the sex industry remains the deadest of all ends.

New Federal Law Proposes To End Adult Video Production

SENOEVILS.jpg

SOURCE: Avn.com By: Mark Kernes

WASHINGTON - Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), one of the most religio-conservative politicians in Congress today, has introduced House Resolution (H.R.) 3726, which would amend several federal laws, including the Recordkeeping and Labeling Act (18 U.S.C. §2257). The move marks the Religious Right's most blatant attempt yet to destroy the adult video industry, this time by granting the Justice Department increased powers to target adult producers within a state, without having to wait for them to ship their product across state lines.

H.R. 3726, which was first introduced on Monday, has been added as a rider to the Children's Safety Act of 2005, H.R. 3132, which was scheduled for a full Judiciary Committee hearing today. However, H.R. 3132 was apparently fast-tracked, since the bill, with CPPA 2005 added to it, was passed by the House today, and now goes to the Senate for consideration ... and likely passage.

Dubbed the "Child Pornography Prevention Act of 2005," H.R. 3726 is an obvious swipe at the Free Speech Coalition's win in FSC v. Ashcroft, where the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the sections of the Child Pornography Prevention Act of 1996 that criminalized as "child pornography" material which "appears to be" or "conveys the impression" of minors engaging in sexually explicit activity, even if all the participants are adults. Conservatives are still smarting from that 2002 loss, and the opinion by Justice Anthony Kennedy is often cited as an example of "judicial activism."

But more than a swipe, H.R. 3726 is an attempt to reverse that victory. The bill would amend 18 U.S.C. §2257(a)(1), (b) and (f)(4)(A) to delete the word "actual" as a modifier for "sexually explicit conduct," thereby opening the scope of the law to any production that depicts sexual acts in any way, either actual or simulated.

For example, 18 U.S.C. §2257(a)(1) would now read, in pertinent part, "Whoever produces any book, magazine, periodical, film, videotape, or other matter which-- (1) contains one or more visual depictions made after November 1, 1990 of sexually explicit conduct ... shall create and maintain individually identifiable records pertaining to every performer portrayed in such a visual depiction."

The new bill similarly would eliminate the "actual" from the portions of the law requiring producers to keep records of performers of "sexually explicit conduct" and would criminalize retailers from selling, for instance, a copy of Blue Lagoon or The Last Picture Show if it lacked the "2257 notice" universally seen on hardcore adult videos.

"If I'm reading this correctly, this expands the scope of 2257 to make it apply to simulations," commented attorney J.D. Obenberger. "Now, there's no constitutional difference in protection between hardcore and softcore depictions, so I don't think that by expanding the scope of it, there's a strong constitutional argument that's raised by this. I think they have the power to do this, and what they're doing is they're just making it a nastier, uglier world and saying, if it's simulated stuff, you still have to comply with 2257."

"The change of 'actual sexually explicit conduct' to just 'sexually explicit conduct,' as well as the addition of nudity, vastly expands the scope of the materials covered by 2257," agreed attorney/AVN columnist Clyde DeWitt, "especially given all of the federal child pornography cases from around the country that have held that 'lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of any person' can include a fully clothed pubic area."

"The earlier distinction came because of the motion picture industry," added Obenberger, "so now, you're going to have to have 2257 notices in the end credits of movies where there's apparent or simulated sexual intercourse."

The change would also cut many Hollywood productions out of the tax benefits provided in the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, which allows mainstream production companies to amortize the costs of movies more quickly – unless the feature has content requiring that 2257 records be kept, which includes all adult features, and under this bill, most R-rated and all NC-17-rated Hollywood productions.

But wait; it gets better. Sec. 3 of the new bill would make it a federal crime to refuse to allow "the Attorney General or his or her delegee to conduct an inspection under subsection (c)." Therefore, if an adult businessperson – let's say, a "secondary producer" – believes he/she has some legal right to keep the (so far undesignated) "2257 inspector" from examining his/her 2257 records, that mere refusal itself would be a crime, and the businessperson could find him/herself arrested on the spot and hauled off to jail.

Indeed, H.R. 3726 attempts to do away with the "secondary producer" controversy altogether, by amending 18 U.S.C. §2257 to remove the exemption for anyone whose business involves "mere distribution or any other activity which does not involve hiring, contracting for managing or otherwise arranging for the participation of the performers depicted." As amended, 2257(h)(3) would now read, "the term 'produces' means actually filming, videotaping, photographing; creating a picture, digital image, or digitally- or computer-manipulated image of an actual human being; or digitizing an image, of a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct; or, assembling, manufacturing, publishing, duplicating, reproducing, or reissuing a book, magazine, periodical, film, videotape, digital image, or picture, or other matter intended for commercial distribution, that contains a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct; or, inserting on a computer site or service a digital image of, or otherwise managing the sexually explicit content, of a computer site or service that contains a visual depiction of, sexually explicit conduct." [Change emphasized] Apparently, nobody does anything "mere" in the adult industry anymore!

"I think this is a direct response to the Free Speech Coalition lawsuit," Obenberger said. "I think the Justice Department was willing to let the Tenth Circuit [Sundance Associates v. Reno] opinion just float out there for years. It wasn't doing any harm, substantially, in the country. But we've now put it in their face and rubbed their face all around it in the courtroom and humiliated them in Denver, so they said, 'Well, fine; we'll fix their clock. We'll take away the most important tool in that litigation.'"

With this bill, also, the federal government's administrative subpoena powers – that is, its power to issue subpoenas to compel a person's appearance or to obtain records for a legal proceeding without demonstrating probable cause before a judge – have been "enhanced" to include not only a "Federal health care offense" and "a Federal offense involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children" but also "a Federal offense involving the distribution of obscenity."

"There is not a great deal of difference between an administrative subpoena and a grand jury subpoena in practice," noted DeWitt, "but then those of us that were around for the flurry of prosecutions in the '80s can all remember what a terrible nuisance grand jury subpoenas can be, and surely administrative subpoenas give the Department of Justice one more missile to fire. The potential for abuse is overwhelming."

And to go along with the industry's new decreased Fourth Amendment protections, the bill also contains an onerous new criminal and civil forfeiture section.

"What one can easily miss in looking at this is the dramatic increase in the forfeiture provisions of 18 U.S.C. §1467," DeWitt noted. "After a hard fight in Congress in 1988, they added a requirement that the forfeiture of property used in an obscenity offense — unlike RICO, which automatically forfeits the whole enterprise — is limited to a forfeiture of that property only 'if the court in its discretion so determines, taking into consideration the nature, scope, and proportionality of the use of the property in the offense.' That caveat is removed under this bill, so it becomes a mandatory forfeiture of all instrumentalities of an obscenity offense even if just one item is found obscene: The building, bank accounts, the delivery truck and everything else. On top of that, the bill changes the law so that a 2257 conviction triggers mandatory forfeitures of everything involved in the offense. Somebody convicted of one indexing screw-up will have his whole company forfeited!"

Shades of FW/PBS, the Fifth Circuit case where the Justice Department tried to forfeit three entire adult companies based on two "obscene" tapes having been sent to Dallas, Texas!

"The reason why Justice wants this," DeWitt continued, "is that RICO, which does have mandatory forfeiture provisions, can be used only sparingly, and only with the approval of the top brass at the DOJ. And, to boot, they have incorporated the draconian drug-forfeiture provisions, which seem to include RICO-type mandatory forfeitures of the entire enterprise."

Considering the mindset of the current administration, prosecutors should have no trouble getting their superiors' approval for RICO obscenity forfeitures.

"I think the way this went down," Obenberger opined, "the Justice Department calls the House Judiciary Committee; Judiciary recommends this guy [Pence]; it gets introduced, and I think what's been going on is, the people involved in the litigation have been talking to the people at CEOS and they said, 'We'll fix them. We don't want them to have anything to stand on; we'll take it all away from them, and furthermore, we're going to rap their knuckles good and proper for trying.'"

But the real clincher is Sec. 7, "PROHIBITING THE PRODUCTION OF OBSCENITY AS WELL AS TRANSPORTATION, DISTRIBUTION, AND SALE." Forget the fact that there's no way to know whether a particular work is "obscene" before a jury reaches its verdict on the material; this section of the bill attempts to make the mere production of the material a crime above and beyond the interstate transportation of it.

See, used to be that the feds only had power over adult sexually explicit material if that material found its way into interstate commerce. If a producer of an adult movie sold that movie only in the state in which it was made, the feds wouldn't have been able to touch it.

In California, specifically, production of sexually explicit videos is protected by a 1987 state supreme court decision, People v. Freeman, and a 2005 New York lower court decision, People v. Paulino, which is currently unchallenged, protects adult video production in that state. However, in a typical pro-censorship sleight-of-hand, H.R. 3726 details extensive congressional "findings" that although the production of child pornography is almost always an intrastate activity, with the entire production process occurring entirely within one state, the increased accessibility of the Internet, coupled with individuals' easy, cheap access to high-tech video cameras and computer equipment, "taken together ... have had the unfortunate result of greatly increasing the interstate market in child pornography." [Emphasis added]

Anyone who's been following recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions is probably aware of two significant end-of-term rulings: Gonzales v. Raich and Kelo v. City of New London. In both instances, the high court found that although the issues were entirely intrastate – in Raich, the question of whether the U.S. Justice Department could bust "medical marijuana clubs", which legally supply marijuana to California residents who are prescribed the substance by their physicians, and in Kelo, whether a state could use its eminent domain power to take properties from unwilling owners and give it to local real estate developers – the fact that those actions could affect interstate commerce gave the federal court system the power, under the Constitution's commerce clause, to consider the issues.

The religio-conservative censorship machine long ago learned to use seemingly unrelated Supreme Court decisions against the adult industry, and here, Rep. Pence has attempted to use the intrastate/interstate convergence in Raich and Kelo to allow the federal government ostensibly to take actions targeting child porn production within a single state.

But the federal government already has the power to bust child porn producers wherever it finds them, and in fact, despite this bill's long preamble, it's clear that the objective of bringing in the intrastate/interstate controversy is not to target child porn production, but to set the stage for the feds to target intrastate adult porn production under the commerce clause.

Hence, H.R. 3726 would amend the title of 18 U.S.C. §1465 – the "Obscenity" crimes section – to read, now, "Production andtransportation of obscene matters for sale or distribution," and its operative text to read, "Whoever knowingly produces with the intent to transport, distribute, or transmit in interstate or foreign commerce, or whoever knowingly transports or travels in, or uses a facility or means of, interstate or foreign commerce or an interactive computer service (as defined in section 230(e)(2) of the Communications Act of 1934) in or affecting such commerce, for the purpose of sale or distribution of any obscene, lewd, lascivious, or filthy book, pamphlet, picture, film, paper, letter, writing, print, silhouette, drawing, figure, image, cast, phonograph recording, electrical transcription or other article capable of producing sound or any other matter of indecent or immoral character, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both." [Changes emphasized]

Sec. 1466, "Engaging in the business of selling or transferring obscene matter," is similarly amended to read, "Engaging in the business of producing with intent to distribute or sell, or selling or transferring obscene matter," and its text amended to add production as a crime.

Exactly what adding "production" to the crimes under §1465 and 1466 will allow the Justice Department to do to adult video producers is unclear, but it is likely that at the very least, it will permit the federal government to make production companies, performers, technicians and even video/DVD duplicators into defendants on federal obscenity indictments, where before, the feds might only have been able to indict a feature's distributors.

DeWitt, however, doesn't feel that the addition of "production" is as important as it might seem at first glance.

"The addition of 'production' to the two most significant federal obscenity offenses in reality doesn't change much," he said. "In the past, they have gone after producers on a conspiracy theory, but this lists production as a substantive offense; however, it requires the same interstate intent as conspiracy. Like the administrative subpoena, it likely would have little practical effect."

"The interesting thing about it is if, for example, they prosecuted someone in Los Angeles for producing with intent to put it into interstate commerce, they'd have to try that person based on Los Angeles community standards," he added. "Historically, they have had a propensity to want to use the community standards of places that are more conservative than the places where the movies are usually produced. But this change may be completely unnecessary. After all, they prosecuted Harry Reems on a conspiracy theory in Memphis, Tennessee in the '70s for simply appearing in Deep Throat, and they certainly wouldn't have wanted to bring that case in Los Angeles, whose community standards presumably were more enlightened than those of Memphis."

"This is just another unconstitutional attempt to regulate the adult industry when they don't need that regulation, " summarized attorney Paul Cambria. "It seems to me that these right-wing politicians do this so that they can appease their constituency of right-wingers. I think they do this as window-dressing for their right-wingers; 'Look what I've done for you in sponsoring this legislation.'"

"This will be an absolute disaster for a variety of reasons," DeWitt said grimly.

Organizers for the Voodoo Music Experience are working to relocate the October 29-30 event, which they hope to carry out as a charity fund-raiser for hurricane relief in New Orleans.

The annual event was originally scheduled to take place in New Orleans' City Park, where it has been held for the last six years.

"We want to be a part of the rebuilding process of New Orleans and we are dedicated to preserving the unique musical identity of our great city," Voodoo Music Experience founder/producer Stephen Rehage said.

"I am in awe of the generosity and kindness of so many people and cities who are reaching out to provide us a home for this year's festival, the artists who are offering to perform and our fans and sponsors who are providing their continued support and patience during this difficult time.

"We look forward to harnessing this energy into something truly great for this community that so many of us, our friends and family call home."

The bill for this year's event was to include Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, The Flaming Lips, Queens of the Stone Age, Billy Idol, Social Distortion, Tiesto, My Chemical Romance, LCD Soundsystem and more. No word yet on whether the same acts will perform at the relocated festival.

Original tickets will be honored at the relocated festival, organizers said, although fans can also get refunds by phone or through Ticketmaster.

Organizers plan to return the event to its hometown of New Orleans in 2006.

Elfman & Raimi Split On "Spider-Man"

SPIDY.jpg

A surprisingly outspoken Danny Elfman revealed to About.com that he's had a falling out with "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi and won't be back to compose the music for the third film.

"I'm not working on Spider-Man 3. I'm out of that. I won't miss not doing it. Spider-Man 2 was a miserable experience. It's like my connection with Sam got completely severed. As far as I'm concerned, he went to sleep, somebody put a pod next to him and when he awoke, he wasn't the same person I'd known for a decade" says Elfman. "He went from right there number two on my list of favorite directors to the exact opposite of what I look for in a film experience which is everything I could do on Spider-Man 1, I couldn't do on Spider-Man 2. He got so intensely attached to the temp music that I couldn't even adapt my own music close enough. Let me put it that way. I couldn't get close enough to me, least of all anybody else who was in the temp score."

You will hear Elfman's theme in "Spider-Man 3" in any case because Raimi owns it - "He can do whatever he wants. It's the first time I've ever walked from a director in 20 years and hoefully the last time I have to turn my back on somebody but it became like intolerable. And I've been on some heavy duty films, so to say that, it had to be pretty bad. I've been in war zones you couldn't believe in 55 films but this is the first time I said, 'I've had it. It's just not worth it. I'd rather go back to waiting tables than to do Spider-Man 2 again, to have to have the same experience."

Elfman, who's musical credits include the likes of "Batman", "Beetlejuice", "Mission: Impossible", "Men in Black", "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and the themes to the likes of "The Simpsons" & "Desperate Housewives" has no shortage of work though coming up. He recently wrapped "The Corpse Bride" and is scheduled to work on "Charlotte's Web" and "A Day with Wilbur Robinson" within the next year.

Pirates' Depp Hangs On To Sparrow

smiling_jack_hs.jpg

Johnny Depp told SCI FI Wire that he's already having separation anxiety about leaving behind his Pirates of the Caribbean character, Captain Jack Sparrow, as he wraps the second and third films in the series.

It's weird, because sometimes separation is more emotional than others," Depp said at an intimate press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was promoting Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. "I remember after [Edward] Scissorhands, and I really feel like a dunce having to say this, but it's the truth, ... I remember the last day of that movie, it had been 89 days or something, and I remember after we did the makeup, I looked into the mirror and thinking, 'Well, this is it. This is the last time I'll see you.' So it becomes very emotional."

Somehow, Depp said that he knew he'd play Captain Jack Sparrow again, even before he was nominated for a best-actor Oscar for the role in the first film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. "What happens to me is that with every character, once you've clicked into that character and you really know the guy, you become very close with him, and you love him," Depp said. "You enjoy playing him. So it's always very, very difficult at the end. There is that week to 10 days before wrap where you can feel and hear the clock ticking, and then you go through sometimes a really nasty kind of depression afterwards. There's an odd separation anxiety, because you've just been this person for a pretty good length of time, and then they're suddenly gone. For me, with Captain Jack, I had a sneaking suspicion that I'd see him again."

Depp said the new incarnation of his pirate role in the upcoming sequels will be a lot funnier than the first, and he said he wouldn't mind playing him again and again. The sequels are slated for a 2006 and 2007 release, though the script for the third one isn't even complete.

"It occurs to me that Jack Sparrow can be funny," Depp said. "So I'm going to try that this time. I'm just going to try and be funny. I don't know. The ideas of sequels and stuff like that was a very odd notion. I never quite understood the idea of doing that and stuff until you think as an actor that you've played a character for months and months and months. So I wanted to meet up with him again. I just wanted to be him again."

Depp added: "It's a very strange situation where you're as a grown man having separation anxiety with an imaginary character. It's worrisome, because you know it's not normal, but you can't stop yourself, because I just like the guy. He's a pal."

Pirates Takes No Prisoners: The Hollywood Premiere Is Treasure Indeed

Pirates_Cover_LR.jpg

By: Peter Stokes

HOLLYWOOD - When the Douglas Fairbanks-starring film Robin Hood premiered at the Egyptian Theater in 1922 — the first movie to grace that grand, virgin screen — the night was nothing less than a tremendous spectacle. A full orchestra serenaded guests. Charlie Chaplin and Cecil B. De Mille spoke of the movie palace’s opulence. Thousands came to gawk, to experience, to worship.

Yet what was seen that night in the heart of Hollywood paled in comparison to the glorious debut of Digital Playground and Adam & Eve’s Digital Playground production of the Joone-directed Pirates, nothing less than a cinematic porno tour de force. Mixing adult fare with elaborate costumes, exotic locales, stabs at acting and an actual story line is treacherous territory indeed for a triple X attempt, yet Pirates pulled it off with nary a hitch.

The 40-by-60-foot screen reflected balls the size of church bells, fleshy mountains of duskily be-nippled tits, yawning, succulent vaginas plumbed savagely by massive, muscular tongues both male and female alike. Rarely, in this day and age, is one allowed to witness such debauchery on such an indulgent scale. Beyond those delicacies, there were formidable acting chops on display, ranging from soap opera drama to Russ Meyer irony to, well, people that can act.

But let’s back up. Prior to the screening, the stars arrived onto the red carpet in classic Hollywood style, emerging from stretch limos, wading into an onslaught of photographers, journalists and fans. Among them: Pirates stars Janine, Jesse Jane, Carmen Luvana, Tommy Gunn and Evan Stone, plus Trina Michaels, Austyn Moore, Steven St. Croix, Kris Slater, Sunny Lane, Sandee Westgate, Olivia O’Lovely, Rita Faltoyano, Sierra Sinn, Ben English and Brooke Haven, Nick Manning, Jenaveve Jolie, Ashley Steel, Max Hardcore, Brian Surewood, Scott Nails, Alana Evans, Dillan Lauren, Ariana Jollee, Venus, Shy Love, Gia Jordan and Gen Padova, to name but a few.

(Photos: Bettie Rinehart & Ariel Ciudadano)
Pirates director/Digital Playground principal Joone was naturally present also, as was fellow Digital principal Samantha Lewis and publicist Adella.

Mere feet way, a shirtless man in silver pants spewed fire from his mouth, a comely, scantily-clad wench twirled flaming batons, and a four-piece music group dressed as pirates-cum-Dexi’s Midnight Runners sang alleged period chanteys. Enthusiasts milled about in tri-cornered hats, velvet skirts, and various brazen piratey outfits that various stupendous boobs failed to resist.

Evan Stone, who displays considerable comedic talent in the film, arrived in full swashbuckler regalia.

“We had all the facilities that were given to a full-on production in Hollywood,” he said of his Pirates experience. “But, at the same time, if they needed you at eight o’clock in the morning they needed you at eight o’clock in the morning. Every second of the day and night were planned out. What we captured, I feel really good about. Every one that was there was really in character; they were in character the whole time they were there. You just got used to there being pirates around.”

Golden, gifted, hardcore vixen Jesse Jane expressed her favorite part of her challenging role in the movie:

“The sex. I got to have sex four times,” she revealed, listing her triumphs. “With Janine, who’s a legend, and Carmen Luvana, who’s a contract girl — you never get to work with a different contract girl — and Scott Nails and Steven St. Croix. And the boat. The boat was really cool!”

As cameras flashed on her like strobe lights, Jane, startling breasts thrusting from the top of her bustier like eager prairie dogs yearning for freedom, expounded on what she brought to the project.

“I like fire and fucking,” she squealed. Without a doubt, there are plenty of both in Pirates. “Fire and fucking! That’s my job, and I’m good at it! And I get to kill skeletons, and we had to shoot this on a green screen, so we had to pretend the skeletons were there, and nobody ever really does that in adult. I was trying so hard to try and not die laughing. It took real acting. It took a lot! We shot in Florida and California, and we had the actual pirate boat. Even if you cut the sex and made it soft core, it’s still great!”

Jenaveve Jolie was resplendent in a violet, see-through lace “dress,” and fuck-stack heels, though she’s wearing far less in the film.

“I’m a dancer entertaining the pirates,” offered the tres jolie Jolie. “I bring Carmen out, and I rip off her clothes.” A subtle description. Her girl-on-girl romp with Luvana brings new meaning to the term “pirate booty.”

Finally, the outdoor festivities come to an end as folks are ushered in to watch the thing that has brought us here. And Pirates does not disappoint. From soundtrack to effects to, yes, dialogue, the film is a major step forward in American pornography. Of course, period accuracy only goes so far; who knew they had eye liner, sequins and implants 300 hundred years ago? Who cares? This isn’t a Ken Burns fuckumentary.

Thank God for revisionist history, especially when it includes sweet Jesse walking Scott Nails’ plank with her mouth, and Sapphotic indulgences like Luvana and Jane cat fighting their way through a nasty, high seas slurp and finger fest. And when Jane and Janine plunder each other’s respective chests, the only question is who will get to the treasure first.

Be all that as it may, ye porn lubbers, let us not forget the rugged sailing ships doing battle upon one another, the moonlit scenes of vessels coursing across the waves, the army of fighting skeletons who can’t swim, and the harrowing, Indiana Jones-esque cave crawling in search of sacred idles, for all of these things are the lifeblood of Pirates too.

When the film is done, hundreds pour outside, into the palatial, palm-lined expanse of the entry to the Egyptian Theater. Cigarettes are lighted, congratulations are tendered, the half moon hangs low, moving high toward midnight. Somewhere in the ether, the swashbuckling spirit of Douglas Fairbanks hovers, wishing he could have leapt from a yardarm, sliced a throat, and then had his balls sucked by whoever passed for Jesse Jane in 1922.

CORINA TAYLOR Comeback of the Year - Interview by MK Magazine

Corina wall.jpg
Corina by Joe Louis

We at MK were completely unaware of the existence of one of our most popular ViXXXens, Miss Corina Taylor. It was in the early quarter of 2004 that she submitted her photos to us and almost a year later we discovered her porn past. Since then she embarked on a hasty hiatus from the industry, made a handful of appearances on the Howard Stern show, appeared in a Monster Magnet video, made the pages of the gossip tabloid The Star in which she is unromantically linked to actor Jared Leto, become a mother and is making her return to the adult industry with a lil help from none other than MK's founder Alex Zander.

In fact Corina may have very well enjoyed more media exposure since her departure, including HBO, than she ever did when she was shooting fuck flicks.

When it was announced that Corina would be joining AZ at Glamour Con 36 in Chicago, the adult press picked up on it, and there was a new fire starting in Chicago. This time it was Zander's cell phone. Photographers form Porn valley and smut studios were burning up his phone, and it was Cherry Boxxx's Dominic, a publicist that AZ has noted many times has gone more out of his way to accommodate our krew at the big AVN show in Vegas, that had the golden ticket. This very interview was actually conducted for Dominic to accompany the photos he had his photographer take while Corina embarked on her maiden voyage to the Windy City.

While at Glamour Con Corina did numerous photo shoots, met loads of fans, and was spotted in the company of the legendary Seka and the new girl on the block Justine Jolie, the lovely British lass Taylor Wayne, and of course a massive MK Magazine posse at the annual After Dark Party.

Perhaps the most notable event of Corina's visit was the bond that was built between her and MK. We were intoxicated by her southern charm and her almost shy manner. MK is no stranger to developing friendships with adult talent, but this Arkansas beauties etiquette won us over like nobody else. So, it was only fair that we let her tell it like it is in this no holds barred, and uncensored interview, in which among all the press, positive and negative once and for all, you can read her version, here and now, in her first post porn expose' .

AZALEXCORINA.jpg
Alex DeMonaco and Corina, the meeting of two Ultra ViXXXens

So here she is in all of her slendor, a lady who is more desirable and fuckable and more fun than Hefners girl next door. Corina "the hot chick" Taylor. Bad enough for Stern and Jared Leto but too good for you.

In April of 2004 you submitted your photos to become one of MK's ViXXXens. How did you first hear of MK and why did you find it an appropriate outlet for your images?

I am not sure I remember exactly just how I ended on mk-magazine.com, I do know that I was just sitting around and surfing the net and sort of stumbled onto it. After browsing the site for a bit and seeing what a cool site it was and finding a section that is called the Vixxens section on the site that allows girls to send in photos and be a part of MK, I thought to myself I have got be on here. Mk is a fuckin killer site for a rock a fiend like myself and it housed not only rock but porn as well, and coming out of the adult industry, and seeing the opportunity to be on the site, I had to send in some pics. Alex then contacted me and the rest is history! Actually, Alex did not know until recently that I even did any adult films, LOL.

The music that moves you and the music you listen to and indulge in seems to reflect the same as that which we expose. How did a nice southern girl become exposed to such an anti establishment/ counter culture art-form?

Around 12 I fell madly in love with Alice In Chains. I wanted to marry Layne Stayley. Not the junkie, I wanted to marry his eerily beautiful voice and his angst and persona that radiated thru his lyrics. I still think he is one of the greatest rock icons of my time. He was easy on the eyes, though LOL. Now the way I was turned onto my favorite band ever which is Marilyn Manson is a different story. A pretty crazy one actually; when I was 14 or so I was living in an apartment outside of Little Rock. This guy from San Francisco moves into the complex. He was pierced and tattooed and just really different from everyone else in the building. This guy actually goes around with a roll of fuckin duct tape and cassette tapes he sat around and made of Manson's earlier music and was sticking them on doors. I get this cassette tape duct taped to my door along with a note that said something to the effect of listen and you will love it. He was going around like a Jehovah Witness spreading the word only he did not have a bible and a bicycle. He had nipple rings, a roll of tape, and some great fuckin taste in music. I took my cassette and I did just what he said I to do. I still love Manson to this day! I also love 80's music, too like Depeche Mode and Duran 2, and the glam stuff like Skid Row, Billy Idol, and even Winger, they covered Purple Haze and it fuckin rocked.

Who in the music industry that you admire have you met, and whom do you really want to hang out with?

I admire so many people in the music biz, not just the people onstage or writing the music I listen to, but people who are behind the scenes as well. I have the chance to meet some cool people though like Rob/White Zombie. I was 15 years old! I did get to meet Manson when I was around 18. I loved the band so much I ended up fucking the touring guitar player at the time on the back of Manson s tour bus, while my friends waited outside in a car in front of the venue for like 3 or so hours. He was only my 2nd sexual partner, so it was wild. I had not even learned that shaving your pussy was the thing to do. We are slow here in Arkansas. So he got hairy high school girl pussy, well I did shave the sides down a bit, oh yeah and he ate it ,too. LOL. I did start shaving it right after that, though. I have also met 3 Doors Down, Jimmy Chamberlain, Peter Di Stefano from Jane's Addiction, Chad Smith and Adrian Young, the drummer of No Doubt. Damn, I have met a lot of drummers, hehe. Puddle of Mudd, do not get me started on this band of assholes. Umm, who else? I know I am leaving people out for sure. Well Monster Magnet was one too, hehe. I am moving on to the next question for now…

AZCORINAGLAM.jpg
Corina by Karlton

When and how did you get involved in the biz and how long was your tenor within porn?

I entered the Beaverhunt in Hustler magazine. Actually, I entered it two times. The first time they printed my entry photo in Barely Legal, the second time I entered it they not only printed my entry photo in Hustler, but they called me up and told me I was a finalist for the contest. That was my "in" into adult. My mom took the photo that got me the phone call from Hustler. Some people mistook that as my mom ultimately wanting me to do porn. That was not the case at all. It was my idea to enter the contest and she just took the snapshot.

Who was your favorite director/studio to work with?

I really liked working for the guys from Kickass because it just seemed like we always got a good laugh at all my shoots for them, and there was no bullshit. I also enjoyed playing dress up for Suze and Holly Randall. I enjoyed shooting for Clive McClean, for Hustler, he was a funny guy. I also liked the lovey-dovey shoots that I did for Cherry Boxxx and Babydolls as well as for Adam and Eve. My favorite scene though has got to be the one I did with Ben Bratt in Love 'Em Natural for Acid Rain. He is just really sexy and I thought we worked really well together onscreen.

Everyone knows and it's well documented that Alex i a HUGE Suze Randall fan. How would you sum up working with a woman in the industry of exceptional taste and an eye for beauty that she is renowned for?

I thought that Suze did an amazing job for what she had to work with at the time, speaking of myself at that point in time of my life, of course. I knew she was HUGE before I ever went out to L.A. with the contest. I was happy to be able to work her. She is incredibly talented and so easy to work with. I wanted to shoot with Kurt Lockwood on that shoot and she even made that happen. Holly Randall is great too. You know Suze looks like a woman who would never say the word pussy and she said it a lot, LOL. I also learned something new on her set that day. I had never seen or heard of a bidet in my life. You know the French toilet that squirts water up into your pussy and ass. I sat on hers as long as I could before the shoot! I would love for her to shoot me with my new figure. I know they would be some amazingly beautiful shots. Suze is great.

Why did you decide to take a "hiatus" from the industry?

I was just wearing out. I was worn out physically and mentally. I just really needed to come home. I had a shoot booked the very day I got on the plane to come home. It was for Joey Silvera. I hope he forgave me for that LOL. I got up at like 4 in the morning and I packed up my shit. I called LAX and there was a plane leaving for Little Rock at like 6:30-7ish. I took all my things and I was on the plane back home to Arkansas just like that. I did not think twice about my decision to leave.

When did you move to LA, why, how long, and what are the ups and downs of Porn Valley?

I moved to L.A. in Aug. of 2003. I was like a nomad or a gypsy or something. I moved around so much in the 9 or 10 months I was out there, it was ridiculous. Well for me there were a lot more downs than ups. I really got taken advantage of in a lot of situations. I did not make too many friends while out in Cali. I did make friends with a taxi driver from Simi Valley though, he would make sure I was alright no matter what. Especially after I ran out on a former agent over the whole “anal” thing. The very first time he picked me up to take me somewhere he started telling me dirty stories. Hehe, I did not know what to think of him, but he turned out to be a sweet little old man. He was like the perverted grandfather I never had. I also ended up spending some time on my own living in and out of hotels around the valley. There are very few who I stayed in contact with and even fewer who are performers that I have talked to since leaving Cali. Kami Andrews is one of the few girls in porn that has heart and soul. I have kept in contact with her through e-mail.

Motherhood? How has it changed Corina?

Becoming a mother for me is a blessing in itself. I mean under all the shitty circumstances surrounding my pregnancy, I decided to keep her and just be a single mom until I meet the right guy who is gonna love me for who I am and I can have, you know the simple kind of life. Of course, they have to love Savannah too, hehe. I would like to sit here and say that becoming a mom has made me somewhat of a tamer person, but I think it has done just the opposite. Now I am defending two human beings and not just myself anymore in a world of shit. She is such a light to have around. She is growing so fast and has her own little personality already. She is a complete mess and I love every bit of it. So that I don't sound cliché here, I will just say that there are some very pretty baby girls in the world and mine is most definitely one of them.

AZCORINABLUEGIRLS.jpg

Elaborate on the labor that you described to me after giving birth to your daughter.

Let me just say it was the absolute most indescribable amount of pain I have ever felt in my entire life and I have been hit in the head with an axe! First, my doctor let me spend almost two full weeks in hell waiting on me to dilate past 2. It was not happening at all, so I ended up having to be induced. It was like a circus at the hospital when I went in to have her. I won't go into that LOL. My epidural ended up not working properly and Savannah started to head out. Not only did I feel the WHOLE fucking thing, the doc stitched me up twice because he suddenly notices that he had stitched me up with the wrong fucking size shit. I felt it all. Of course, at that point you don't care. I am lying there holding my baby and feeling every stick of the needle between my legs the entire time. Now I am like if I can go through that ,I can go through anything. Throw a brick at my head, I can handle it LOL. But it was all worth it in the end. :-)

How does your relationship with your family figure into your work?

Well, outside of my mom and the whole Hustler thing, my step-dad kinda got drug in when I mentioned on Stern that he and my mom had seen some of my work. I also admitted to having walked around the house naked in front of him. Stern, then wanted to talk to my step-dad. That whole ordeal just opened a can of worms that ended up having my step-dad failing a lie detector test given to him by Ed Torrien on national television.

So you've been getting loads of press as of late. Lets start w/ Howard Stern. Tell me about that?

The way I initially got on the Stern show was when I did this show for pay per view and it was some rigged up bullshit. They needed a girl to go on Howard Stern that was part of the show. For some reason they called me up to represent them. I went on the show not wanting to. I literally fought going on the show. I had watched Stern for years. I mean he is one of my favorite people in entertainment, but I have seen him totally decimate girls on his show. I was so scared of that. Howard ended up not doing that to me. He was way more interested in me than the shit I was there to plug. I ended up being on his show like two or three more times and I also did a couple of call-ins as well. Howard was great to me. Of course, he has the talent of tearing people to shreds without them really picking up on it at the time, so for all I know he could have been doing that to me, but I honestly don't think so.

And Star Magazine and Jared Leto. What's your version of that scenario? What's the truth according to Corina?

I mean the whole thing was about how Jared was still dating Cameron Diaz at the time all this took place. He like, was playing with his dick while watching me lap dance his own brother after I got through lap dancing Jared himself. Jared had this MONSTER size cock, too. I was like WOW, he needs someone tall like Cameron to take that thing. When Jared hooked up with Ashley Olsen, it was on, the story had to be printed. I was so excited...Not only did I get to see Jared Leto's BIG dick firsthand Star magazine writes about it years later LOL. I loved watching him in "My So Called Life" on MTV back in the day. So my run in with Jared was definitely one of the up's (literally) that came out of being in the biz.

Has Jared responded? If so, how?

The very next week Jared dumped Ashley because he felt she was too like “cookie-cutter” for his newly found image. He must have loved it. Guess he felt like more of a rock-star because of it.

Do you feel misquoted?

I do not really think of it as me being misquoted, but how people are interpreting what I am saying. I would say that I do feel more persecuted rather than misquoted or mistook. I have seen some shit and fought battles that I have not seen any and I mean any of the other girls in adult put up with and go through. People were jealous of me in high school and shit though, and some of those people years later blast nasty shit about me along the net. I am like HOLY SHIT, you people still haven't grown the fuck up? Then again, I was born and raised in a state full of ignorance and close-minded closet freaks. Why should I expect anything any different?

Okay, when we met and we were having lunch at the hotel, we asked you about anal. I don't think we got to the virtual "bottom" of the subject. Lets clear this up, once and for all. On Stern he asked and you and claimed to have done several anal scenes on film. Yet, in another interview you had claimed that the director nearly forced you to do anal, and you mentioned that you didn't even practice the fine art in your personal life.

Okay, once and for all, lets clear up all of the misinterpretations and misrepresentations. This is a very touchy subject for me. I mean I was there, I was the one who got fucked up the ass, and I was the one who got fucked over in so many different ways that day. Not the asshole posting their stupid fucking opinions on ADT. Vince knows both he and Eric fucked me over. Everhard has been offering up footage of the incident as of a couple of weeks ago. Funny because he is trying to make himself look innocent, so why when Vince chopped up the whole fucking scene would Everhard not chop shit up to make himself look like a hero, too. Give me a fucking break. It is also funny to me that the agent I ran away from over anal was buddies probably buttbuddies with Vince Voyuer and this whole fucking incident happens on Vince's set. “The cocks already in your ass” was repeated several times at the beginning and did that make it to the final cut? Well fuck no!!! I read the other fucking day where some jackass on ADT writes on there and says that I told on Vince and Eric becaise they put some bitch on the box cover instead of me, with it being my first anal (forced or not), that I was whining over that. I am like, “what a dumb fuck!!” That box did not even come out for like two months or so after the fact, and I talked to Sharon Mitchell the very night this took place. I did not know that night that I would still be getting fucked months, and now over a year almost 2 years later!! Fuck! Not only that, when things get quiet that is one of the subjects that just keeps getting reopened. I want it to die already. I got fucked over. It's history HELLO! Sometimes, I can make a statement and people try to find ways to connect it to the whole Vince thing, I am like, man, I am trying to fucking close this chapter in my life. Whatever comes out of my mouth has nothing to do with that shit. I am trying to fucking forget it, if people would just let me. I mean if you got thrown into being fucked up the ass and you had never been fucked up the ass before and you were not ready, would you wanna sit around and discuss it for years. I don't think so! You would be doing your best to accept it, forget about it, and move on!

So after over 1 year off, are you willing to and are you ready to go back to work?

Only under the right circumstances and only for the milder stuff. It also has to be for the right people. There are some good people in the jizz biz if you are lucky enough to find them.

What are your stipulations, and standards?

Well, I need to be careful now. More so now, than ever. I don't need to be in any dangerous situations. I have a daughter that needs me. I honestly wish I could only do girls. If I had known the biz at all when I jumped in, I would have gone that route. A guy is more apt to respect a girl who is adult that only works with other women than one who does gangbangs, LOL. I mean I have not had sexual intercourse since October 2004.That is my choice, of course. I am not this super slutty girl that goes out and sport fucks. Sex is not like a hamburger for me, I don't need it to survive LOL. It's nice with the right person, but it is not at the top of my everyday agenda. On a lighter note, I do love giving head and I like to swallow, hehe.

What did you make of Glamour Con?

I really enjoyed Glamour Con. I mean Alex Zander and the guys from MK made it all possible for me. I was just glad to be able to finally meet Alex. I was supposed to meet him in Vegas this past Jan. and I was unable to to make the AVNs .I was happy to sit down with Alex and have a conversation in the flesh.

And meeting AZ in person, was it as bad as you expected?

Bad… LOL...In a good or bad way, hehe. Alex is not only very personable...he shares a lot of my same interests in music and movies. He was so open and so friendly. I am so glad I was able to make the trip up to Chicago. He’s just this amazing guy that totally rocks and he loves what he does and he’s so likeable... He is the nicest person I have met that is associated with the adult biz. I mean he accepted me and he did not listen or believe the b.s. He met me, and we conversed with each other on a level of openness and acceptance that I have found to be so fucking rare in the industry and outside of the industry.

Do you see your relationship w/ MK and AZ as friends and associates as helping you get back into the industry?

I ultimately do not wanna be in the industry. I mean I may do one more dip in the biz if and only if things are done the right way and I am safe and taken care of. I wanna do more music videos and modeling and have extra roles in “B” movies, that sort of thing. I would love to be in a horror flick someday. I am a HUGE fan of scary movies and gore. I have been ever since I was a little girl. I am in school full-time working on a science degree and I am enrolled in a surgical tech program. I wanna do that too. I have a lot of things I would like to do. I would also like to do them in a way that better represents who I am as a person, a real person, than anything else I have ever done.

You came to Chicago with a rock-n-roll photographer who seemed to be a pretty good friend. How long have you known Joe and how is he involved in your return to the spotlight?

I have known Joe for quite some time. He was a dj at one of our local rock stations that houses a rock calendar, which I have appeared on. I was around 19 when I met Joe. Joe normally shoots musicians and live acts, but he does shoot local models on the side. I needed someone who knew what I wanted and was compatible for me and willing to help me in the photography/managing dept. He also owns 2 other businesses of his own. I am just his side gig.

Where can people see more of his work?

People who would like to see more of his work experience, if they are interested in rock-n-roll artists can check out jlphoto.net. He also just got through shooting me for a cover in my home state of Arkansas. It was for one of our local magazines.

You shot with Karlton. What did you make of that and did what MK had to tell you beforehand make sense?

Karlton was very nice and very easy to work with. His shoot was long, but he took some really sexy stuff for Alex and MK. He is a talented photographer. He is funny, too. He has sent me some of the photos that he took over the net and he was apologizing. I was like, “what?” These things are fuckin hot. He is such a perfectionist that perfection is not perfect enough for Karlton.

Martin was sent to us from Dominick at Cherry Boxx in LA. How'd you like working with him?

Martin, was a breath of fresh air. Here is this guy from L.A. shooting content of me in Chicago that walks up and did not know who I was. He had not heard or read the b.s. He was just a super nice guy that was a quick photographer and he wanted what I wanted. He was not like, “you have to do this or you have to do that.” He was so nice to me. I appreciate Dominick sending Martin to Chicago and setting me up with him to shoot. I have worked for Cherry Boxx before and they were all so nice. Martin was so laid back, I did not expect anything any different coming from Cherry Boxx.

Rock and porn. Is the combo still significant? If so, more or less?

I think it is much less. I mean it used to be the rockstars loved the pornstars and the pornstars loved the rockstars, and some people used to say that rockstars ultimately wish they were pornstars and vice versa. Nowadays, you see rockstars with more of the model-type women. I am not talking about the nude ones either, Tera Patrick aside.

Okay, Monster Magnet and music videos. How did that happen and do you want to do more?

I answered an ad in Craig's list for dancers for a music video. I did not know until I auditioned that it was for Monster Magnet. Which was cool, because I was a fan of theirs mainly due to their association with Manson. Manson's old bass player was featured in one of their vids. I had a great time. Some girls did not even know who these guys were and I was like “Hello” and “What rock do you live under?” They were just kinda there. I missed the opportunity to be in a video for Manson soon after coming home and that really hurt. That was a HUGE ouch for me! I most definitely wanna do more videos.

Whose music video would you like to be in?

Gosh, there are so many bands I would love to be in. I mean from Nine Inch Nails to System of a Down to Type O (if they ever do another vid) to Fuel, A Perfect Circle, Rob Zombie, now that would rock! Of course, Marilyn Manson. What would really be cool would for me to be an Evanescence vid being as they are from hometown and all, hehe. I could even see myself shakin' my ass in a Lil' Jon Vid. Well, if I had a bit more ass to shake. I love to dance... it would be fun to just rock out in a video .Monster Magnet's vid had some in it.

We’ve met and befriended many girls in the Adult Industry and we do have our personal favorites as those who we can now consider friends. You my lady are certainly the biggest contradiction and exception to the rule. We are stunned at what a true lady and a southern belle in every sense of the term that we've ever come across. How and where do you draw the line and who do you attribute you charm and etiquette to?

This is a very short answer… My mom.

Britney Skyy just signed a 6 pix deal with Cherry Boxx. Does it wet your appetite a bit to jump back in and work with her?

I would love to work with her. I knew who she was before going out to L.A.I had seen her in magazines and I thought she was very hot and sexy. I never saw any of her films work until I was in L.A. I was basing this on her sex appeal in her photos spreads. After seeing some of her work and seeing her in person. My opinion has most definitely not changed. In fact, I think she is somewhat underrated. She is drop dead gorgeous and she is not boring to watch on film. I would eat her pussy. Who wouldn't LOL:)

You live fairly close to Gauge. When are you two going to make friends?

I have only met once and it was on KSEX. I thought she was so cute and just like this little ball of fire. I was excited about meeting her. I kept getting asked if I knew Gauge, I was like “I gotta meet this chick.” It finally happened several months after being in the biz. She now lives like literally 45 minutes away from me.

So when are you an Gauge going to come to my city together and tear the motherfucker up with ol AZ?

Hopefully in Oct. at the Pimp's and Ho's party. My fingers are crossed. I know I am gonna be there.

corina_03.jpg
Corina's very first photo submission to MK

So on your next trip to Chicago, what are your hopes and aspirations?

To just strengthen my friendship with Alex and everyone in his… um hmmm, posse, and to have a blast being surrounded by quality people.

Corina, it's a true pleasure to work with and become a friend of yours. You are a real token to what an MK ViXXXen should represent. What do you imagine doing as far as association with this 10 yr old organization?

I hope to just keep building my gallery on your site and to keep being a part of such a killer website as well as letting everyone know just how great you guys are...Hopefully, I will grace the pages of your magazine someday...so instead of just saying I was in porn and I was in a nudie mag, I can say I was in porn and I love Rock N Fuckin Roll and I am in a magazine that stands for something that is a huge part of my life and coincides with the biz I am in, (was or is). LOL…

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005
in Chicago, IL
@ Double Door
also appearing: Zeke

Touring behind their new CD, GET SOME (Spitfire Records/Eagle Rock), NASHVILLE PUSSY bring their infamous, take-no-prisoners live show to Chicago - playing the Double Door on Wednesday, October 12th!

NASHVILLE PUSSY is singer/guitarist BLAINE CARTWRIGHT, lead guitarist RUYTER SUYS, drummer JEREMY THOMPSON and KAREN CUDA on bass and vocals.

With Cartwright’s memorable songs, Suys’ undeniable shread-ablilty on guitar and backed with the ultimate hard rockin’ rhythm section -- NASHVILLE PUSSY delivers more of the high-voltage rock & roll for which the band has become infamous. Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones), and mixed by Glen Robinson (Deep Purple, Humble Pie) GET SOME is a musical, surgical strike. The first single "Come On Come On" is destined to be a hit with its sing-along chorus, big guitar hooks and rock 'n roll swagger. With 13 brand new songs -- including the slow-burning southern rocker "Hate and Whisky," the anthemic "Going Down Swinging," the razor sharp humor of "Lazy White Boy," and a gritty cover of Ike & Tine Turner's "Nutbush City Limits" - GET SOME has something for everyone who likes raw, high-octane rock & roll.

Since founding the band in 1996, husband and wife guitar team Cartwright and Suys have celebrated their “southern discomfort” rock & roll vision, releasing three full-length albums worldwide. GET SOME is their fourth album and their first for SPITFIRE RECORDS, an imprint of Eagle Rock Entertainment.

CHICAGO BIKE NAZI'S

bike nazis.jpg

How do you know when your local administration has gone too far?
10 years ago last July marked 10 years since I had first seen Chicago. I came here for a 2-day event with only 1 goal in mind, to see the band LYCIA. I fell in love with Chicago, her people and all of her beauty. It was so clean, and families were rollerblading in the streets downtown and bicyclists were everywhere. I knew that scorching hot Sunday, Chicago was going to be my home. It took 3 years to make the move, but it wasn't going to be something I was going to do overnight. It would take some planning and seed planting.
So as of 98’ I was here. And the environmentally local government pleased me even more.

Well Mayor Daley has been getting lots of negative press over the last couple of years due to some rather "shady" choices of his administration. That press has snowballed massively as of late. And who in the long haul has paid that price? The commuter.

Think about it. The CTA our wonderful public transit system rates have hiked. Tolls have doubled, and the Chicago Police spend countless man hours driving the opposite way up one way streets running every license plate to find out who has the dreaded 3 outstanding tickets resulting in the cursed “boot”. Lately though, it has gone from ridiculous to simply ludicrous. The city has hired uniformed city "officials" to run plates in our cities parking garages, and the parking lots of the Midway and O'Hare airports.
So, scofflaws they may be, yes I agree. However, I think our tax dollars should go towards the manpower to make this city safer. As a bicycle enthusiast myself, I cheered when Chicago passed a law making it a movable violation to talk on your handheld cell phone while driving. It makes perfect sense considering how many times I've been hit and knocked off my bike by someone on his or her cell phone when they should be paying attention. That law passed this past summer hasn't stopped many. I still see car after car being driven by someone who is talking on their phone when they should be more attentive to what they are doing.

But I highly question the most recent executive decision made by the powers that be. The police are now ticketing bike riders who run red lights or stops signs, those who ride the wrong way down a one-way street and those who are not basically adhering to the laws of the everyday car driver; Including being on your bike on a city sidewalk. Okay, some standards are in place for a reason, and as much as I think a good many drivers are more dangerous to innocent citizens, I think the muscle of the boys in blue are being pumped a little too hard.

For example, two weeks ago on a Thursday evening I was biking around Lincoln Park and doing some shopping. I crossed the street and was taking my bike up on to the corner and coming off the seat. From out of nowhere a bike cop comes up to me and asks what I'm doing. I tell him I'm going into a particular store to buy a shirt. He warned me that if I had not been off my bike when I took it to the sidewalk I would get a ticket. I told him I am very aware. I mean really, I'm a self admitted news junkie, I know every new rate hike and moronic law passed by this city by now. So believing he was satisfied I walked my bike to where I parked it and he actually followed me into the store to see if I was really buying the shirt I had mentioned. GIVE ME A BREAK, BIKE NAZI!

Oh, it gets worse from here, yes it does. The weekend of the Air and Water Show I was biking through the park on one of it's many bike paths and traffic was bumper to bumper. It was evening and everyone wanted out of the city. You can bet these people will never lower themselves to take public transportation. There are cops everywhere trying to direct traffic to insure an even flow out of the park and out of the city. I'm trying my best to get downtown when I suddenly hear commuters yelling at somebody calling him a fucking asshole. The next thing I know a guy driving a BMW crosses through traffic going the opposite way and he's coming at me on the bike path while talking on his cell phone. He blasts his horn and I'm off into the grass yelling at him, "What's wrong with you asshole?" WHERE WAS HIS TICKET???? This was not only against the law but extremely dangerous as far as I am concerned. I wanted so badly to throw something at his car. ANYTHING. But then I would have been the one being arrested while he got away.

To add salt to the wound, while taking an afternoon walk last Sunday my girlfriend and I see the new sign. NO BICYCLES PERMITTED ON SIDEWALK / VIOLATORS SUBJECT TO ARREST. ARREST! Isn't arrest a little extreme? What about that guy on his cell phone or the prick who was driving at me on the bike bath last month, or those pulled over for speeding? They are never subject to arrest. I believe "subject to arrest" is a lot extreme.

But the real clincher was yesterday. I had my bike chained to the fence off the sidewalk outside of my girlfriend’s apartment. I retuned to find a city warning sticker that my bike was subject to be tow/ impounded due to illegal parking. I'm dumbfounded. Extreme?

I think excessive is the word.

Rolling Stone to Publish Thompson Note

HST Stone.jpg

NEW YORK - Rolling Stone, the magazine that was home for years to Hunter S. Thompson, will publish a note written by the gonzo journalist days before he committed suicide in February.

Douglas Brinkley, the presidential historian who is also Thompson's official biographer, writes that a Feb. 16 note may be Thompson's final written words. It reads:

"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun — for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax — This won't hurt."

Hunter left the note for his wife, Anita. He shot himself four days later at his home in Aspen, Colo., after weeks of pain from a host of physical problems that included a broken leg and a hip replacement.

Written in black marker, the note was titled, "Football Season Is Over."

Brinkley writes in the magazine, on newsstands Friday, "February was always the cruelest month for Hunter S. Thompson. An avid NFL fan, Hunter traditionally embraced the Super Bowl in January as the high-water mark of his year. February, by contrast, was doldrums time."

Most of Thompson's early writings appeared in Rolling Stone. In pieces of great length, he often portrayed himself as a wildly intoxicated observer and participant.

The writer's ashes were blown into the sky in Woody Creek, Colo., amid fireworks on Aug. 20.

Bob Denver, TV's Gilligan, Dead at 70

gilligan_narrowweb__200x250.jpg

LOS ANGELES - Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy castaway Gilligan on the 1960s TV show "Gilligan's Island" made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died. He was 70.

He died Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina of complications from treatment he was receiving for cancer, his agent, Mike Eisenstadt, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

His wife, Dreama, and children Patrick, Megan, Emily and Colin were with Denver, who also had undergone quadruple heart bypass surgery earlier this year.

"He was my everything and I will love him forever," Dreama Denver said in a statement.

Denver's signature role was Gilligan, but when he took the role in 1964 he was already widely known to TV audiences for another iconic character, Maynard G. Krebs, the bearded beatnik friend of Dwayne Hickman's Dobie in the "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis," which aired on CBS from 1959 to 1963.

Krebs, whose only desire was to play the bongos and hang out at coffee houses, would shriek every time the word "work" was mentioned in his presence.

Gilligan on the other hand was industrious but inept. And his character was as lovable as he was inept. Viewers embraced the skinny kid in the Buster Brown haircut and white sailor hat. So did the Minnow's skipper, Jonas Grumby, who was played by Alan Hale Jr., and who always referred to his first mate affectionately as "little buddy."

"As silly as it seems to all of us, it has made a difference in a lot of children's lives," Dawn Wells, who played castaway Mary Ann Summers, once said. "Gilligan is a buffoon that makes mistakes and I cannot tell you how many kids come up and say, `But you loved him anyway.'"

TV critics were less kind, dismissing the show as inane. But after it was canceled by CBS in 1967, it found new audiences over and over in syndicated reruns and reunion films, including 1981's "The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island." (It also led to the recent TBS reality series "The Real Gilligan's Island.")

One of the most recent of those films was 2001's "Surviving Gilligan's Island: The Incredibly True Story of the Longest Three Hour Tour in History," in which other actors portrayed the original seven-member cast while three of the four surviving original members, including Denver, narrated and reminisced.

"Gilligan's Island" writer-creator Sherwood Schwartz insisted that the show had social meaning along with the laughs: "I knew that by assembling seven different people and forcing them to live together, the show would have great philosophical implications."

Denver went on to star in other TV series, including "The Good Guys" and "Dusty's Trail," as well as to make numerous appearances in films and TV shows.

But he never escaped the role of Gilligan, so much so that in one of his top 10 lists — "the top 10 things that will make you stand up and cheer" — "Late Show" host David Letterman once simply shouted out Denver's name to raucous applause.

"It was the mid-'70s when I realized it wasn't going off the air," Denver told The Associated Press in 2001, noting then that he enjoyed checking eBay each day to keep up on the prices "Gilligan's Island" memorabilia were fetching.

"I certainly didn't set out to have a series rerun forever, but it's not a bad experience at all," he added.

Don't Count Mardi Gras Out in New Orleans

mardi-gras-new-orleans.jpg

SOURCE: Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS - Probably the last thing a city inundated with water and filled with human misery needs is a parade, much less a Mardi Gras. But just a week after Hurricane Katrina unleashed its devastation, there already are signs that New Orleans is remaining loyal to its partying ways.

Over the weekend, about two dozen people in beads, hula skirts and wigs danced down Bourbon Street in a symbolic show that life must go on. A few months from now, there's a good chance there might even be some kind of scaled-back Mardi Gras.

"I think now more than ever we need a reason to celebrate. It's really at our core," said Arthur Hardy, publisher of the Mardi Gras Guide. "I can't imagine the city rolling over and playing dead and saying, `I surrender.'"

With thousands believed dead and authorities still unable to collect bodies floating in canals and hidden in attics, even the talk of a Mardi Gras celebration might seem disrespectful.

But New Orleans has always loved a good time, and when the two-week, pre-Lent celebration that ends with Fat Tuesday arrives on Feb. 28, floats could be parading down streets now covered in water.

"Guess what? It's New Orleans," French Quarter resident Maryann Davis said. "We'll always have something to parade for."

Mardi Gras is enormous even by this city's standards. In 2001, more than 1,000 floats, 500 marching bands and 135,000 people paraded through the streets. One university study estimates the celebration brings in $1 billion a year to New Orleans.

Hardy, who has been publishing his guide for 30 years and is one of the foremost experts on Mardi Gras, said next year's celebration is also important because it's the 150th anniversary of the first formal parades in the city.

The Civil War interrupted partying for a time, and a total of 13 Fat Tuesdays have been canceled because of various conflicts. The Sept. 11 attacks and the 2002 Super Bowl delayed the 2002 parade.

"I've heard some people say we can't do it," Hardy said. "But it's a very significant anniversary and I can't imagine it going unmarked without some kind of parade. It's in our soul to have Mardi Gras."

The old feelings are already beginning to stir in the French Quarter.

On Sunday, a small group of revelers wearing outlandish costumes gathered for the city's annual Southern Decadence festival, a gay event which normally draws thousands.

Carpenter John Lambert dressed up as a member of the Village People and carried a sign reading "Life Goes On." He was joined in the makeshift parade by people who had taken shelter in his house.

Come February, he promised, the party will be much bigger.

"Mardi Gras is a brew, it's a gumbo. It's defined by what people bring to it," Lambert said. "There will definitely be a Mardi Gras. No doubt about it."

Gregg Giuffria: Bad Luck In Biloxi

Gregg_Giuffria.jpg

The coast of Mississippi was hit hardest by hurricane Katrina. Biloxi is a hub of music and casinos on the Gulf Coast.
One musician of note affected by the devastation, is Gregg Giuffria (Angel, Giuffria, House of Lords). Gregg's new project, the Biloxi Hard Rock Casino was getting ready to open it's doors for the first time next week. Katrain blew through and flattened the building. It's a total loss.

Gregg is still getting over a fire that destroyed his studio about a year ago.

According to melodicrock.com, the $235 million resort was scheduled to open sometime before September 8 and the press was given a sneak peak last Friday.

Gregg spoke to melodicrock.com and said he is understandably upset and cursing his "luck". But he was quick to add that he is more concerned about the people in the area and the widespread damage caused. Gregg says they will rebuild and put it back together, although the memorabilia is lost forever.

Gregg told fans to log onto www.wlbt.com and click on the link to video from Sky Chopper 3 - which tours the devastated area. About 10 to 15 minutes in to the 20 minute segment, the helicopter flies over the Hard Rock resort.

Tommy Lee's Professor Isn't Laughing

Duuuude.jpg

Lincoln Neb. - English professor Frances Kaye said she was talking about the wonders of childbirth, but on Tommy Lee's reality show Tuesday night, it appeared she was discussing the wonders of Lee's private parts. Kaye has told the Lincoln Journal Star she is not amused.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln professor said she thinks producers of "Tommy Lee Goes to College" lied to her about how they would use footage shot last fall during her Native American literature class.

Her anger stems from a scene in which her class is discussing Lee's autobiography. Kaye appears to tell the class that the book's opening - an imagined conversation between Lee and his penis - is a beautiful and enduring symbol.

Kaye said she actually was talking about childbirth, another subject broached in Lee's book. Her comments were edited into the discussion about the first chapter, Kaye said.

"I was saying something serious about Native American literature, and they made it into something trivial and stupid about Tommy Lee's penis," she said. "I realized this was a stupid reality show, but I didn't expect it to be this grossly misrepresented."
